Good morning, ladies! The Week 3 Challenge is up on my blog - I have 2 posts this week. If you've joined the Challenge because you have a few things that aren't working, then read my first post. If you've joined the Challenge because you can't FIND your scrap space, then start with the first and continue reading on to the Bonus Challenge.
This isn't going to be a fun-filled, daydreaming Challenge. We're going to start big - but productive. You all will not like me this week. But that's ok, very few of you know where I live.
Have fun!

I have my embellishments in a box......This is one of my probelm areas. I can never find what I am looking for. My chipboard is also in a box. The chipboard keeps growing every time I shop. I just love it. Thanks for posting this challenge.

This week is the toughest for me. Most of my supplies are contained together since I store by category. I will have to really think on this one if I plan to make it to next week. Hopefull the crop I'm going to this weekend will eliminate a lot of stuff from the stash.
Glad you enjoyed visiting our spaces, Wookie.

Thank you for the great challenge. I'm in the process of finishing my room, so I'm a little behind. Here are pictures of my work in progress. I did discover as I was unpacking that there are definitely a few problem areas including the most efficient way to organize monthly kits.

You know, you're right! I don't like you too much this week! Oh goodness!!! I had to stop reading your blog to let you know that I can't let ANYTHING go!! But, I guess thats why my space looks the way it does and thats why I can't scrap as efficiently as I want to!! Okay, you win! I'll do something about those! It's either I clean or my hubby does!!! Okay, here goes!

Wow, I'm going through the links you provided. Lots of great stuff there.
Thank you again for this challenge. So motivating! I went to GASC this week-end and have a lot more patterned paper to organize. I fell in love with certain lines of paper so will now need a way to organize them.
I just moved in a year ago and did the painting & layout then, and have got a handful of areas I will be working on so I will b e doing the first part of the challenge. I've decided to concentrate on the following areas
- Photo & Negative Storage
- Patterned paper storage
- Ribbon on Rolls
- Make Sterlite Drawers pretty
- *leaving room for more as I think of it*
- *leaving room for more as I think of it*
Here is a picture of my scrapbooking/craft area in my purple room . Sorry for the crappy phone picture. The stack of boxes on my desk is all of my photos. Lots of work to do there! I also have a lot in my closet, will post a picture in a bit.

I have read this weeks challenge probably about 4 times this week.... I know-- I know --I have some decisions to make.... After checking out some of those links I am almost convinced to totally revamp my room and sort things by color... it makes such sense. So much of the way I store things is "how I think about a layout" vs a traditional method. BUT this would totally require a BIG overhaul!!! |

This challenge, "inspired"/'shamed" me into redoing my space. I think the what is not working and what is was wonderful. Reality Check!
So I began with dumping, pulling and tossing alot of my storage.
I found I just seemed to add on, rather than do a major purchase.
To make my space both attractive and organized I began by purging the way I organized, I am now to a desk decision.
So I am looking for what I "Need" not so much what I "Want"
This is a wonderful challenge. |

So I spent some time in the scraproom looking at my possibilities.. its a small room -- but I realized that all the furniture in there except two paper holders is all HAND ME down...
I have a small bookcase from my childhood
I use an old dresser top as my work space
And that stradles an old tv stand...
I also have an old china cabinet that I took the glass off of and use it more like a bookcase...
and then my huge desk-- It used to be my Dad's....
From my daughters college Dorm I acquired a set of sterlite drawers and an unfinished hutch that sits on my work space
I have always been proud of the fact that I didn't jump on any bandwagons for buying target cubes or pottery barn desks but seriously... this is kind of sad!!! I have been literally dreaming of expedites and a cabinet with drawers!! Anyone else feel they are due alittle something?? |

btt for Jo
Dancingfish - I think everyone feels the need for a glam studio. But having had hodge-podge and glam, I DO miss the history of a lot of my pieces in the hodge-podge room. My DH is an AWFUL woodworker - he lacks whatever gene it is that enables men to cut wood straight - but he made my paper shelves for me. They tilted, I got splinters a LOT, and I knew they wouldn't hold much more paper, but it was super sweet that he took time out for me like that. I don't have anything in my glam room that has a story. I like how your pieces have a history to them - don't knock that!

I agree with WookieMouse, Nothing is wrong with eclectic (sp?). As long as the pieces function for you. You could always paint them to match. I've seen that on HGTV plenty of times.
Ditto to whoever said getting rid of the storage containers that are totally wrong for my needs. I need to purge some of my storage systems to find ones that work. I believe that is definitely my problem. I like my way of storing (notice I didn't say organizing) my stash, but I hate that it is in itself a mess. Maybe some of my pieces are ill suited for my storage needs. I have a spice rack I found at goodwill because I noticed how others were storing buttons or brads and now its sitting under my feet taking up space.

exactly, some of the ways I store things are based on aesthetics and I really needed a reality check since I have such limited space. I'm working on this tomorrow instead of attending a crop. Well, I'm actually working on this tonight since I'm up and can't sleep. |

Hi Stacy! If I could be just half as organized as you, I would have so much less stress in my life! Thanks for hosting!
I'm dragging a few weeks behind but hope to catch up once I have some babysitting next week. I've been stockpiling boxes, and I have my vacuum ready, LOL! I have a VERY long list of what doesn't work.
Here are my 'before' pics just for the record I can't even work in there now, it looks like a bomb went off! So it can only get better, I hope
in this last pic my stuff is actually spilling out into the next room - my DH is not happy |

Hi! I've take a pick a this challenge a couples of times...
just like I would open a box JUST A LITTLE BIT a the time
caus' I'm too scare to see all the work I have to do in my space!!
Everytimes somebody look at "what used to be my office at home"
(but it's now only a "scrap room under a tornado"!), they ask me
how do I find things in that place? But I actually DO find my stuff!
It just that it's not very esthetic!!!
Now,here's what stopping me:
1. I'm not working for a couples of weeks now: burnout it is...so I don't have a lot of energy. But I'm thinking that the 1 hour a day I have energy, I could put it to this challenge, and to look at "order" it is something that gives you energy , right?!
2. I don't have a big budget to buy expensive furnitures and design drawers to put all my stuff in it!
So, this is actually MY first step. Admiting that I have to do something and that I will do it.
Looking at you girls help me:
- I find some scrap room that are looking just like mine, so I'm thinking that I'm not alone!
-I see some of you who did great and now are having some pretty space, and it gives me some ideas...
So thank you. I'll try to give a look at this challenge every week, to give me some motivation! |

omg....
I took out everything that did not belong last night.
I redid my punches drawer and labeled the drawers as I was putting things back in their home while taking everything out of the room.
I then assembled 5 Target cubes and put them on top of each other so that I could house all my dies in one place. That in itself turned into several hours of hunting down all my dies (which needed to be done).
I finally had to stop at 4am last this morning and go to sleep.
My room is spacious now because its just the expedit shelf now and the 5 Target cubes. But man! so much more still needs to be done!

I so need to do this challenge. I'm only going to do some organizing in certain areas since I lack the funds to do a complete overhaul.
My biggest problem is lack of storage for page kits. Right now I have about 20 kits on my floor leaning against furniture. I don't have any more room in my closet and I have maxed out my space in my room along the walls. I guess I either need to purge or move it down to the basement.
Hopefully, by the end of the summer, I will be caught up with my scrapping and organizing.

I am out of town for work during week 3 & week 4 but I am really looking forward to getting in my room when I get back. I didn't like posting my before pictures last week. I do love the fact I can reference the pictures while I am gone and still can keep planning.
I have a LOT of work ahead of me. SCARY!
Thanks again for this challenge!

I've been dreaming and planning and scheming about my scrap space. I had been hauling everything into the living room to scrap but that's becoming more difficult as I acquire more stuff. Until recently everything fit in 1 XXL tote, my Totally Cool Tool Tote, 2 vertical CH paper containers, 1 accordion file and 2 shoe boxes (holding rarely used items). I think I can try to make a permanent work space in our spare room.
It's a room that serves a number of functions but I think I can revise the space. I do household paperwork in the room, but that would be easier to transport to another room to work on than my scrap stuff. So, my household office will become mobile. I also do homework there so I keep school supplies and books on the desk, but I've found I'm having trouble studying at home. There are just too many distractions. I've started going to library occasionally and it's much more productive. So that's my new study plan, go to the library. Alright, I've decided: I am going to take over the desk for scrapping and set up a corner of the room as my new scrap space - YAY!!! Can't wait to start moving things around...it's gonna be great!
