Hey, everyone!

I am so excited about this class! The first project/video/pdf for this week is up HERE.

This week focuses on Distress Inks from Ranger. Today's video talks about the basics of the inks, along with creating backgrounds. There will be another project/video up on Wednesday and Friday, too - both on Distress Inks, also.

And, of course, we need prizes! Each week we will offer a challenge. Just play along and we will pick a winner of some prizes from Hero Arts and Ranger.

The challenge for this week is to use any of the techniques presented in the videos/projects. You can use any products, but we would love to see some Ranger and Hero Arts! (Both companies donated a TON of prizes.) When putting them in the Gallery, don't forget to click the appropriate box indicating your project is part of the Thinking Inking class.

Also, please link your project here on this thread so that everyone can see it.

By the way, this class is being supported by Ranger and Hero Arts. To be quite honest, I picked these two companies to work with. I feel strongly that they both offer high quality, made-in-the-US products that make these techniques possible. So, I feel very confident that you will like their products, too. And, a big thanks to Tim Holtz for his support.

Let's get creating!

Great!

If you have questions, be sure to post them here and I will answer.

Water stamping - that was something I came up with while putting the class together. Fun trying new things.

Fab video.

Great tip about first working onto the craft sheet with the foam pad. Loved the water stamping.

I have some distress inks, but after watching your video I now want some more

Wow, what an awesome technique packed video! And more to come!
I got a couple of the inking applicators this past Christmas as well as some embossing supplies, that I'm trying to learn how to use, so this is a perfect class for me to actually USE and play with my new stuff!

And what could be better than Jennifer, Hero Arts, Tim and Ranger! Wow, such a combination!

Thanks so much!

Graet video, Jennifer! I especially like the water stamping--I had never seen that one before and I love the tip of using a "sticky" ink to get the water to stick to the stamp. I'll definitely be trying this one!

Cool! I've been looking at those Distress Inks, but haven't bought any yet.
What you consider must have colors? I'm on a pretty limited budget so I may only be able to get two or three.

If I could only have 3 colors of Distress Ink, they would be Worn Lipstick (pink), Spiced Marmalade (orange), and Broken China (blue). If I could have a fourth, I'd get Peeled Paint (green). I use these all the time. I'm not much of a vintage/aging/distressing person, but if you are, you should also consider Tea Dye (brown).

Here are some links so that you can see some of the colors together:

Worn Lipstick & Spiced Marmalade: Many Thanks Owl Card and Heart Flourish Tag Card

Spiced Marmalade and Broken China: Heart Flourish Art Card and Flourished Fall Tree

Broken China, Peeled Paint, and Tea Dye: Owl Pop-Up Card and Thanks Tree

A friend of mine used Peeled Paint and Weathered Wood (gray) together and it made me add Weathered Wood to my wishlist: Stamping Mathilda's tags
