Good morning! Just back in from my walk - it is SO MUCH hotter in Houston than Dallas - that humidity is such a killer!
So, I of course needed to check on my P's and JOMAMA YOU ARE IN THE TOP TEN Gallery Views!!! Everyone is checking out your big momma bookshelves! Woot - you are a celeb! And I am checking the Katy Archivers for that WS book for you. They open at 9 or 10 today - not sure which.....
Ya'll are probably right on baseball card holders being too small. I need to dig into my files today and see what size images most of my electronic sketches are - those are what I think I would want printed out. I do love those little Page Maps cards.
My sister's husband built her these amazing shelves - I will photog them and post them later. She was inspired by Jana Eubank's amazing studio gallery....
Okay - off to clean up and scrap all day in a testosterone free zone. Ya'll have a GREAT day! |
Penny

Jomama and Dancingfish- Thanks for the encouragement (or was that tough love?)LOL
I'm taking the 2006 and before mags & books to the garage, Dh has made a spot for them to be stored til I can part with them. Might be sooner than later. As for the rest, I'm sorting by months, so all those holiday & seasonal themes are together. I'm thinking now that I'm glad there are only a few scrap mags left in publication...less for me to work with in the magazine piles! I think once this is accomplished, I'll be able to weed out the "good stuff" I really want and make file folders or binders of the ideas I like.
I've been wanting to 'bind' my Designing With Calendars...that's another project for another day. Glad you got yours completed!!

I've enjoyed reading the posts this week on this thread. Everyone has such good ideas.
I need to go through and purge lots of magazines and idea books again. It's hard for me to let them go especially the idea books since they were relatively expensive. I also can't let go of my Sb Trends and Cards magazines for that reason.
I have three binders of ideas I've saved from magazines and computer printouts. I have one binder for heritage, scraprooms, journaling, and ideas. I also have layout ideas for supplies I already own but haven't used. Another binder is for holiday and seasonal ideas. The third binder is for class ideas and general layout ideas that don't fit in the other categories.
I used to buy the boxes of page protectors sold at HL to keep them in, but now I usually just punch three holes in the tearout itself. I'm pretty easy on turning the pages when I look at them.
I keep page sketches in a little $1 photo album I bought at M's. It's made to hold 4x6 photos. I decorated the front when I took the Got Sketch class from Valerie Salmon. I cut my cardstock scraps into 4x6 and mount the sketches. Keeps it looking nice.
Organizing my ideas is going to be an ongoing project for me. Right now I'm trying to get my house ready for a book club meeting I'm hostessing next week so until then I'm focused on that.

jomama- When can I come by to scrap?? Love your scrap space!
I really wish my shelving went to the ceiling like yours, but I'm vertically challenged so I'd have troubles with that. Thanks for the inspiration. I love all the 'stations' in your space. |

I just got back from an Su Open House. My friend has paper racks like I do with her 12 x 12 on bottom, then her 8 1/2 on top of that, and then a Su clear bag holding her scraps. Pretty smart - so she doesn't have 12 in one spot, 8 1/2 in another and yet scraps in another like I do....pretty smart...(but my racks don't hold 12 x12)

wanted to share this website I came across while looking for "The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker"
Creative Organizing Aby Garvey is the "organizing and productivity expert". I haven't had a ton of time to look around the site but what i've seen looks pretty good. there's even a newsletter you can subscribe to.
ETA: here's a link straight to some Scrapbook ideas I found:

ETA: here's an e-book by Aby. I downloaded it, it's pretty good. It has a workbook with it too. e-book

Hey guys I know our week of ideas organizing is over but I thought I might share something I wasn't sure If I had shared or not. As you know I am not big on organizing stuff I tear out of magazines. But when it comes to Themes this is something I do that works great for me and might be helpful to someone else????
I posted pictures Here on 2peas.
Its really very simple. I store Theme paper together. Example: Pets--
I store each of my themes in one of those generations 12x12 envelopes. Inside the envelope is the paper, and then in a 12x12 page protector I stash stickers or dies that are very specific to that theme. AND I also throw any magazine clippings in there too. That way its ALL together.
Anyway I wanted to share that before me move on!
BTW-- Wookiemouse.. my scraproom is really a disaster at this point!! My husband keeps teasing me that I must be loosing the challenge because my room looks worse than it started.. I keep telling him I am really making progress!! hahaha Aren't we almost half way done??? |

Ha! Dancingfish - I doubt your hubby physically blocked your space! I got up this morning and DH had flipped my big honkin' bookcases 180 degrees and put them together so they blocked IN the space (he completely closed up the opening to the room).
He told me to paint the backside (facing the dining room) and then it was closed and he didn't have to hear about it anymore. Now, there is stuff all over my game room floor and bedroom floor, but ..come on!
I"ll so have to take a pic and post.
What a dork! Doesn't he know he just caused himself more work?

Oh NO! Penny I just read your post. I'm so deleting those pics!
I only posted them for this challenge.
Although I am posting my DH rather odd suggestion.

Dudesman - any time! Bring it on.
It turns out that another Pea co-lurking on this challenge lives not too far from me! I'm hoping she will grace my lowely humble abode and join us one day - obviously once I've figured out what the heck I'm doing!

Okay - I"m off to delete those empty shelves (can't imagine what visiting Peas are thinking if it's top 10 material- the PeaMail must be flying with "what is up with this chick?"
However, if anyone wants a good laugh - you can go to my photos and see the image taken of my DH brainfizzle....
Every time I wear something and ask if I look fat in it, he always replies, "you are not fat".....does he think I'm three inches wide?
