2 years ago I bought my boys (going into 3rd and 4th grade) LL Bean backpacks for school. I was tired of going through backpacks left and right. They're great. Especially the younger DSs..its a print instead of a solid color and its really nice.

So DD is entering kindy in the fall and I want to get her one. Was all ready to order it and I get an Lands End catalog and those look really nice. And while the cost $2.00 more, they have free shipping.

Just wondered if anyone had a Lands End and if you liked it

My son has only used Lands End. They hold up great. He had his first one from K-3 (middle of the year) The ONLY reason we got a new one is he wanted one. He would probably still be using the original one if I hadn't caved and bought him a new one.

I've never used a Lands End pack, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the LL Bean packs! They have several styles and colors, and I noticed the latest catalogs even had the target age/grade ranges in the product description. I still own and use the pack I got as an undergrad - back in 1991.

Another yes vote for Lands End! I got both of my kids one about 2/3 of the way through last year and they look brand new. I got their initials on them so we don't have to use the laminated name tags the teachers give out. When I bought them, the customer service lady told me they have lifetime guarantee, esp. the zippers. If anything breaks, I can return and get a brand new one, no questions asked. Since my kids are very hard on backpacks, I thought that was a good deal.

They are both equally good quality backpacks that should last for years.

We've always bought Lands' End and have been really happy with them. They don't wear out, they just get tired of them.

Oh, Lands End has a lifetime guarantee too? Thats one of the things I like about our LL Bean ones.... not that I expect them to use them forever... but if it breaks mid year.

I've heard good things about both but we've only had l.l. bean here. The one dd has now is great and should last several more years. But I didn't like the pink one she had in kindergarten (I think). Got dirty too easily and didn't clean up well. Light colors just don't work. We got this one and it works much better, doesn't show dirt etc.

Back Pack

I must say that they have changed it. Dd's has black on the bottom 1/4 and that helps with the dirt I think.

We also tried Hanna Andersson but that one didn't hold up at all. I've never bought anything else from them but had heard great stuff about durability. Well not in the back packs. The zipper broke after maybe a month and the decorative portion started peeling off.

So we'll be sticking to L.L. Bean darker patterned packs.

I love the Land's End backpacks! I got one last year for my DS and it is still wonderful. He wanted to pick out a new character backpack for the start of the new year but when it breaks, the LE one will be on standby! He has black so no dirt or markings show. But his lunchbox is orange and it is a little nasty looking after a few rides on the school bus floor.

Dd's have the Land's End ones and I really like them. Older dd has an LL Bean one, but I like the LE better (personal preference). I like that they have a smaller version of their backpacks for younger kids. The small version seems to fit DDs better, but is still big enough to hold a notebook. Going on year 3 for both of them.

I haven't bought either but I wanted to chime in and say that I've used Land's End guarentee and it's GREAT! I have used it on my sneakers twice because the pull stie thing broke. Within about 10 days I received new ones. The lady at the L.E. counter even told me that she buys clothes off their clearence rack even if it's not her size. She boxes them up stating she wants size whatever and they send her the new size! PLUS, they refund your postage! I LOVE Land's End!

I was going to say go with LLBean because of their guarantee. If Lands End has the same guarantee, it's an equally good choice!!

No offense to the OP...but I swear this question has been asked every other day around here lately!

My kids have had both. Both have excellent guarantees and customer service. They are very equally matched value and quality wise.
