ohhh Penny I forgot to add that I like the idea of reusing those cookie containers.. They are clear and they free with cookie purchase They look like they stack well even if they don't stand on their sides. of course I wouldn't want to stand in your way of heading to wallyworld

Yes Vicky I am saving those containers for what may lie ahead! I stopped at W and 52 cents cheaper but only had 1 and I "needed" 2. I did get little black hair bands there-$1.50 for 400. I like the idea of black, too. So on to Target I went for 2 jars. I wanted to SEE them in their new countertop "home". I have rolled 25 off of the plastic thread holders. I have to confess that it was relaxing and therapeutic. I'm sure that means something strange. So far the only $ at risk is the $1.50. If I hate this I have my $29.20 jar receipt. I am PLEASED with the investment amount and hope to make more progress on filling my "cold" and "warm" jars tomorrow! DH reminded me I "have all weekend"!

Penny-both jars are really cute! good luck deciding

Hobby-I just put all my smaller papers-8.5x11, 8x8, 4x6 etc (I don't have a ton) in a magazine file box with the rest of my paper in my expedit. I don't have a ton of paper, and this is new, but at least all the paper is together now. I left the stacks together.

Getting things put away a little at a time. I ran out of clips for my homemade clip it up! guess I should stop buying stuff lol. I'm really slow at getting pics up, but I'll try to work on it tomorrow.

P - Did you get the jars you took pics of? OR the more apothecary type? And I thought you said you didn't have much ribbon?

I plan on rolling my ribbon tonight... during TV time-- I agree things like that are relaxing.

Mickey-- glaad to hear its moving along--I know what you mean about buying things.. Yesterday I was in Tuesday Morning and they had MM foam Stamps for 1.99 (Flowers) Exactly how was I supposed to pass that up?? and they had Details journaling spots.... Until this challenge I had stopped buying but I think since I am "playing" with my stash its just on my mind all the time!

Thanks for the paper pack tips. I will probably put them in a mag holder with some patterned 8x11 paper I have. I use it mostly for cards too so that should work great.

Can you believe we are 3 months into this challenge?

Well, HOBBY, I think I have been looking at a MESS for what seems like 3 years! LOL! Maybe I have - it started pre-challenge.

Jo - I got the Target $13.49 jars that are all glass that I put it in Monday night post. I could not tell really ANY difference between the W and T jars but since I am OCD I had to get two from the same store and W only had one. I know - it sux being me.

I bought TWO jars because one thing I have really tried to be conscious about is allowing space for things to grow. Like I told my mom the other day, it's unrealistic for me to A) use all the paper I have (because hoarding IS fun) or Stop buying paper....So - I got the two jars thinking that I can always return one OR I can buy more ribbon.

Hobby I am so impressed that we have stuck with this! But without you guys I don't think I would have.

Penny-
I two have been leaving room for expansion--I bought 3 extra blue CH envelope type things for future projects and have 3-4 empty blue mason jars on a shelf for something in the future.. Seems like the smart thing to do.

I use homemade ribbon rings too. Even though I have a craft room, I don't have a place for them to be out. The rings are on a skirt hanger in the closet until I need ribbon, then I bring them out. I love the ribbon rings. No folds in the ribbon.

Well in the interest of keeping with 'full disclosure' here is my ribbon mess that I love so much:

There really isn't that much ribbon in the drawer. Its sitting on top of my thread I need to move to my sewing cart. Guess this is the week for that. hmmm. I've also updated my gallery to show some of my progress.

Hobby - I swear I'm in the same pain as I'm still fixing old weeks too! (and I'm out of summer to fix it - I go back to school on Friday) You'll have to let me know what you think of your homemade towel holder. I have a friend about to try one after seeing our posts. Her sister made one and she said she didn't like it until she realized her mistake of over loading the page protectors. They wouldn't 'slide to turn' cuz' they were sagging. She bought more protectors and now she loves it.

Vicki= I completely concur (what movie is this? "I should have concured! Why didn't I concur?" I'm only still hanging on here because of you all! What in the world am I going to do since I'm not finished and I can't get this board at work? (and what will you have for reading material when I quit posting novellas?)

well put a pic on my blog...but spent the morning looking at it all and finding homes for some of the ones that were just stuffed into an open container.

LOOOVE the idea of rolling the ribbon. I have some on cards, the tab punch from Stampin Up, but they do get a tad bit wrinkly when you unroll them.

MJ you got the ribbon going! My word girl - that looks like a LOT! ha! I am still rolling, rolling - when I can. My family just insists on interfering occasionally with needs for dinner, laundry, a ride here, a need for conversation! Who's ready for the kids to go back to school??? (Sorry, Jo - we know that means teachers, too!)

My beautiful big jars are sitting on my counter. I LOVE THEM. When I get more rolled, I will post a pix. Right now - since the ribbon rolls up so small (which I also LOVE) - it looks rather paltry in that big jar!

MJ- Love the large jars you have on the top shelf!! My word you have alot of ribbons!!

Hobby- Laughed so hard over your full disclosure comment!! Have you decided to take them out of the packages??
I rolled ribbon last night while watching TV and finally made the decision to take part packaged ribbons. My husband thought I was crazy to be opening perfect packs to then stuff them in jars.

I did realize that I have alot of RED ribbon-- who knows why!??
Tonight I will work on the fibers-- which I think I want to force myself to use... I think I will be a trend setter and have Fibers make a comeback!

Dancingfish, I thought about losing the packages but I'm not sure if I am ready to buy a new container.

Penny, somehow posting pictures has put the pressure on to hang in with the challenge.

Jo, I know I'm not ready for school to go back. It takes up so much of my time with all the homework and projects. I like my rack so far, It doesn't spin easily. I could add more protectors to lighten them up but it still seems to lean/sag a little with the smaller pockets. I may end up making a more 'clip-it-up' style one. Hanging instead of pockets.

Penny, I'm using the plastic screw top lids (MM, I believe). I have several of them and really like them. Plus they fit perfectly in/on my Wall Organizer shelf thing. I started pulling all my ribbons apart and sorting them by color. Now I need to get some hair bands to wrap them up with. I like the idea of black instead of clear.

Those MM jars are cute, Kelly. I just know my twisted self enough to not want to have to screw on a lid! Hobby, I am glad I wasn't the only one who did a double-take on all that plastic packaging! ha, ha! We all have our things.... Dancing Fish my entire family thinks I am nuts and that I will never put scissors to paper again! I agree on staying accountable - I keep telling myself, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!"

When I realized how old some of the ribbons in packaging was I realized it had a better chance of being used if it was seen in the jars.. I have such issues removing things from packaging-- I like packaging crazy I know!

Oh Mickey you're so fine! Your room looks amazing! All that countertop real estate - just waiting for you to play!

I'm still here rolling ribbon! I'm about 70% through the plastic Artbin I had on floss cards. I HOPE the ribbon in the cookie containers goes faster!!!!! I'm afraid to peek at next week's topic - but then again I knew all along ribbon week would kick my bootie.....

Mickey, Your room is looking good. I may end up switching my stickers to a 'clip-it-up' like yours.

I actually prefer things to be out so I can play with them but for some strange reason my scrapbook supplies just stay packaged. I rip my stamping stuff out as soon as I get home. Hmmmm we do have quirks.

Mickey, cool room!! wow, I do love the hanging ribbon...but my cats would have such a field day! I worry about them if I were to take them out to roll...but really like that idea

my top shelf of ribbon are in containers from Costco, my sis in law has one of those candy machine businesses and she recently gave me a stack of those containers..think they had choc covered peanuts in them. My mom and I got the labels off and viola...ribbon containers.

So WHAT are we doing with fibers???? Also, I have that Jenni Bowlin crepe paper ribbon - guess that moves from "ribbon" to embelishment now?

I finished the plastic thing last night and started and finished the red cookie tin, save the durn fibers. Progress!

I am pretty sure I will get it all knocked out before week end! Yippy skippy!

Uh oh! this may be a really bad thing...just for grins I tried the site at work - and I got in! (we usually have everything blocked).

Go Penny!

Mickey - I actually looked yesterday at the list to see what was next. Boy do I have a ton of stamps. I would love to store them the way Stacy does but I would need hundreds of dollars worth of ? can't think of the name? but the transfer stuff to take my stamps off of the wood. So for now, it stays as is.

thanks for the sentiments about work. I had to move classrooms and content, so today is stressful. I feel better after being on Peas so I'm back to work.

Hi!! I've been following the challenge from afar. I can't really do anything now because we are getting ready to move again (same neighborhood, different house) and so I'm copying and pasting the challenges and ideas into a document to use later on for when I unpack, again LOL.

Here is my ribbon though. I have it rolled and secured with tiny black rubber bands and sorted by color. It's about the only thing I'm satisfied with so far LOL....I'm hoping that these challenges and ideas will help me pack and unpack in an organized fashion.

Penny- For my fibers I am just kind of balling them up and then going to try and do a sort of light colors and dark colors and shove them in two mason jars. I don't use them much so I don't want to spend alot of time with them --my thought is if in a few months I haven't touched them I might move them to dresser in the basement that I keep other crafting crap in.

Adrian- look in Wookiemouses blog post-- it is in Donna Downeys room.

STAMPS??? UGHHH

I, too, am shocked to see Jo posting! Careful now! ha, ha! Stamps - OMG - my other taboo area. Whine! Why do they have to be back to back??? I seriously have issues with all those SU sets in plastic bins....The ONLY upside is I will have just cleared a drawer of RIBBON!

Love that ribbon in jars and I hope I love it in the little black bands.

Dancing Fish - I feel like chucking my fiber NOW to the basement! It's impossible to deal with. A lot of it is still ON the cards so I am going to keep it there I think - just don't know where I'll shove it!

Woo hoo for the layout! I SO WANT TO MAKE A LO! I hope I hope I hope I can do one tomorrow!! DH is working the Macy's sale of the week.

Geez guys - it was for one minute! And from you girls who Pea while you are working (pun intended!)????

and no, I can't seem to get away from organizing. Now my new classroom is a conundrum too! Ugh! Came here for some 'feel good' relief and got shot down! geez!

This was a long day of moving furniture (and team building activities ...woo hoo)... to have to come back tomorrow and finish moving furniture and putting decorations and my reptile/aquarium tanks up in place! Maybe I'll get back to the challenge on Sunday. I think I'm buying jars too as I do not like my Snapware in my new cabinet.

Jo should I send you a reptile or two??? hahaha
And maybe you should check out what kind of jars you have in the kitchen that earlier post with the spray painted lids was kinda cool! Although you might need big ol applesauce jars with your stash!

So what is everyone doing with fibers? I'm going to try to do them the same as the ribbon but not sure if it's going to work or just be a tangled mess.

I gave away or tossed out my fibers a couple of years ago, so I'm not much help there. I am making progress with my ribbon, though. I put ribbon on about 150 of my ribbon rings and am relieved that I'll have enough with extras for new ribbon. Although with the amount of ribbon I have, I shouldn't buy any more. But some of the new ribbon is so pretty and hard to resist. LOL

My fibers are wrapped around the DMC floss thingies (the plastic ones) and are in a floss container organized by color. I just have one. Then I have a second one for DMC floss...

Except for fibers, I am DONE rolling! Woot! The floss card idea is great. Lord knows I have a few available now! I think I goofed-I am going to trade my 2 big jars in for 4 little ones. I think I may actually begin a LO today. I am missing being scrappy! And I better do something before we plunge into the abyss of STAMPS!

OK last night I tried to tackle the fibers-- AS I empty the many containers that I had shoved it in over the years I found that I had tried to tackle this project before a few times unsuccessfully! There were some that were wrapped nicely on plastic floss holders that were on a giant ring-- others I had wrapped on cardboard and still others in small plastic bags. WHAT A MESS-- I started the night out determined to wrap them all on Something (floss holders or cardboard) and as I worked I realized since I don't use them maybe jars were not the right place for them and I remembered how some of you stored your ribbon neatly in boxes in pretty little rows !! AH HA light bulb moment... well after an hour of that I have to admit I gave up and shoved it in the box and sadly gave up!! Up until now I have not given up on any of our "tasks" but I am throwing up the white flag on this one!

I am going to revisit this mess-- because going through it I did find some fiber that I actually could envision using. (however the 9 different PURPLE eyelash fiber????? I don't even use purple paper!) When we have another slow week I think I will remove what I like put it with the ribbon and then move the rest to the basement as I mentioned before to use on gift wrapping or other crafty projects.

So thats my tale of woe-- my story-- and I am sticking to it! Hope you all fair better!

What's the obsession with eyelash trim...I have some scraps and about 4 full rolls. I just keep them in a drawer. So me with another messy drawer. But its okay by me. The "scraps" about 2 feet worth are on floss cards in a holders. So I'm okay there too.

I'm ready for next week. Bring it on. The tough stuff is behind me. Photos, paper, and ideas (which I'm still working on. Ugh). I may revisit my sticker week later on when the budget and time allows.

Wookie is the best for getting us all going on this project.

Hmmm.. I guess I don't know what eyelash trim is.. ?

My fibers are on those little embroidery thread holders or on the ribbon wrap. Most are in a floss box. I'm happy with that, but

I am reconsidering my ribbon wraps vs. the jars. I like the pretty way they look in the card cattys and in the basket of that one lady I linked (she had them in baskets at the bottom of a desk hutch). I lose so much shelf space doing that though as the 10 inches above it are empty...You have to have the right thing to stack it on or the right basket to set on top of each other. When I stack mine (from Corner bakery) you can see the contents so I lose the prety ribbon wraps (plus it's a hard fit into the new glass cabinet). ugh ... frustrated that i can't find a solution ..and cheaply .. or make a decision.

Jo you're not alone, I'm not sure what eyelash trim is either. I am thinking that it might be like fringe. I think I might actually have some just didn't know that's what it was called. lol. I only have about 10 fibers and they're all still wrapped on the card they came on (except for the possible eyelash trim which is on a roll). I think they'll just stay that way for a while.

I have done 4 LOs in the last 2 days! I'm so excited. Just need to sit down and journal on them. It's so nice to actually be scrapping again!!!

I'm so excited and I had to share! I just sold those big grey shelves! and to a lady buying them for her son's classroom! (so that was dear to my heart).

I'm supposed to use the money to re-pay the new piece ...but I think I'm buying Scraponizers.

I've been faithfully following the challenge every week and am progressing nicely. It hasn't been too difficult for me because I don't have a lot of stash. It's nice to have a good organization system in place as I accumulate more, which I have been doing over the last few months. I have completed all of the weeks EXCEPT photos. I haven't even touched that one yet. My husband and I have been married 27 years and have 2 children, ages 22 and 18. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of photos I have and I just can't decide what I think will work best. I'm not too worried about it at this time -- it will come.

I like the look of ribbon displayed in glass jars so I bought round wooden clothespins to wind my ribbon on. I got a package of 30 at HL for $2.99 and I only needed 21 of them (so far). As I get more ribbon and the number of clothespins becomes too cumbersome I'll use either the black hair elastics or I'll roll ribbon around a toothpick.

When the challenge began I was satisfied with with my stamp storage but I think I've almost doubled the amount I stamps I have since then (I found some really good deals!) and I'm not so sure what I have is working anymore. Looking forward to next week!

Eyelash fiber is that fringe looking stuff-- I am happy to report that I actually created 4 pages yesterday!! I used the "draw a project from the bucket" (popcycle stick) and used an old page kit from about 2002-- and ohh yes I added fibers to it! hahaha And then went on to draw another stick and worked on a travel album and did three pages in there. (sadly no fiber was harmed in the making of those pages)
The organizational system seems to be working so far.. much easier to put things away when I was done.. the only problem is remembering where things are-- I was really comfortable with the old system so this might take alittle time to get used to.
BRING ON STAMP WEEK!!
