I purchased the cricut when it first came out, loved it. I haven't used it about 1 1/2 years. Took it out today, and it won't cut the paper. I have put in a new blade, played with the pressure. I have messed with this thing about 2 hours and my DH came home from work and messed with it somemore, and nothing.

I don't understand, it was working when I put it away, and not now. Please give any suggestions.

What exactly is happening? It sounds like it powers up, but is the needle carriage moving? If it's moving is the needle housing dropping?

I had mine for 15 months and it quit cutting. I changed the blade, had my husband look at, still wouldn't cut. I called customer service and he had me do some things while I was on the phone with him, still wouldn't cut. He said the pressure was shot on it and since my 1 year warranty was up there was nothing they could do for me except offer me a refurbished 1 for $200. I ended up buying a new cricut because I have so much money put into the cartridges and I use it alot. That was just my experience, hopefully you have a better one.

To answer some questions. It acts like it cutting, it moves around and paper goes back and forth, but it's like the blade does not come down far enough to cut.

I got on the cricut site and found the number to call. The lady walked me though resetting the machine. But, I can't turn it on for 45 min.

It was quite involved that business of resetting. First I had to turn off the machine and remove the cartridge. Turn on the machine. dial all dials to the lowest setting. Pull the black blade housing all the way to the left. Push and hold the red button that is behind the housing on the right for 3 seconds and release. Move the blade housing all the way back to the right.(where it is normally) Dail all three dials all the way up and down three times. Hit the cut button and turn the machine off. Let set for 45 min.

I swear I'm not making this up. I'll let you know if it works again.

I bought this machine when they very first came out. I mean the week they hit the store back in 2005. So I guess I shouldn't complain.

As strange as this sounds, make sure your blade is in the holder far enough and that the holder/carrier is facing correctly ......I think the arrow faces forward.

Hope I got that right from memory....if I screwed it up, my apoplogies.

The green thing that holds the blade, what number is it on? The higher the number, the lower the blade. I keep mine on about 5. the arrow should point down to 5.

Thanks guys for trying to help. I have made sure about 100 times that the blade housing is in the correct position and it is. Also at the present time I have the blade depht(sp?) on the highest on the 6. Not much longer and I will be testing it out.

I'm so sad. It didn't work. I am thanking that it is a pressure issue, like the previous poster had. When I watch it, the blade housing doesn't go up and down any to apply pressure to cut and then up to move to the next letter. But, if I hold it down while it's cutting then it cuts, but it also cuts where it moves from letter to letter, so you can't use it.

Thanks for the suggestions.
