This week we're going to tackle card-making supplies and storage. This may or may not apply to you, so head on over to my blog and check it out!

I just want to say Thank You Stacy for putting this together for us. I can't imagine the time and effort you put into this to help us once and for all to get our areas in order.
I am starting way late. The weeks that I have worked on so far are looking good.

The one thing I realized about me is that I have things scattered everywhere and this challenge has helped me get all my like supplies together for better use.

Thank you again Stacy.

This is an area I need to work on. I don't have alot of card blanks or envelopes. I do have my small stash neatly put away. Although some envelopes are in a separate spot--but I think for now thats ok. BUT!!
oh there is always a but... I do have "things" that I decided I would not use on my scrapbook pages BUT (theres another one) might work for cards. This is where the organization needs to step in. Some of these little titles, poems and embellies are in with the cards... and others through the process of all the other challenges are sitting in a box in the guest bedroom. I would like to see if I can corral these this week and **shocker** put them in a notebook in page protectors by theme.

THEN maybe instead of collecting I can actually make a card or two... I don't think I will ever need an elebroate system for pre-made cards because I just don't have alot of time to make them in advance.. but if I did-- how do you guys store yours???

A card box is on my blog, Dance... my blog I used a Target box and a kitchen handle and dolled it up, made dividers by category.

The ones that I sell in the printshop are in a large Longaberger basket divided by catgory.

Punchaddict that is a cute card box. I love your dividers.

I keep my premade cards in a photo box just laying there. Some of them get kinked. I love your idea. Guess I will be searching for a box. We don't have a target here.

Punch that is so darn cute! I suppose someday I could become organized enough to have a stash of cards ready! I usually send mine off with the glue still drying! hahaha

Ok guys where is everyone??? I need to vent and you all are MIA! Seems one of the sets of page protectors I bought was backordered! I didn't even realize it until I went to grab them and use them tonight! UGHH so tired of waiting--I am not a patient woman.

Nor should you have to wait..LOL I'm just getting back in town from Turkey Day Madness.

I dropped off last week and need to open the door to my Craft Cave.

I have a drawer that has all of my mailing stuff like 6x9 envies and my 3 sets of card blanks (white in large and small and off-white in small) That's it for me. I could use a few more but this is about organizing right..So I need to organize my cards received in swaps. Those are taking over my little shoe box. I also have some kits that can't find a home. That leaves me with challenge cards. I keep entering and making but not using nearly as much. Only 4 real areas that need a home. I don't separate my card supplies from my stash. It's all relative for me.

I am so bummed.
I bought the Making Memories Embellishment Center http://store.scrapbooking-warehouse.com/354574.html
and my ribbon doesn't fit on the spools. Some of the cardboard from the ribbon was to big to fit. Plus I have a lot (well compared to you guys a bit LOL) of ribbon not on spools.

I was thinking that I might not have liked not being able to take the ribbon to my work surface if it was in the shelf threw the doweling. But now I don't have an option.

I was thinking I might wrap the ribbon and put it into the jars, but the ones that match don't fit into where the ribbon should go...

Just wanted to vent LOL. I will still trudge on though.

Hellloooo.....

Yuh oh ! I have not looked at the list lately to see what was coming up ... so this one smacked me!

I need work in the arena, but I also have some systems in place.

In place:
1) photo boxes with finished cards sorted by theme
2) Some things I consider to be card supplies such as inks are fairly organized.

Needs work:
1) When I used to hold classes, I would cut extra just in case. All of those extras are in baggies and need to be consolidated (they are in 3 areas - just kept adding and adding) and need to have the 'original' filed with some of them. I have a baggie on contents for some of them and NO IDEA what card it is.
2) lots of card fronts that need backs
3) pieces of unfinished work
4) need to go back to stamp week and sort stamps so that all of my sentiments are together and easy to find. I *mostly* know what stamps I have and where they are in what set, but....there are some I forget.

I'll see if I can take pictures tomorrow of my card containers and such and post.

Cute box Punch....

Vicki - do you make cards? you mentioned pre-made and titles/embellies so I wasn't sure.... I store mine by 'birthday/thank you/seasonal/congrats/baby/" etc...

And thanks to Stacy for yet another week!

I have 3 boxes from the card store that sit in the middle drawer of DH's old dresser from when he was a kid. That dresser and the matching nite table help support my countertop work surface.

They can be seen in Picture number 6 in link below

I pick up envelopes when I garage sale. I never worry about the size cuz you can always custom make the card to fit. If they are 10 cents or 25 cents for a box full of cards and envelopes, I buy them for the envelopes! I like it better if they are boxed and sealed as there is less chance of them having bashed corners.

I also buy Xmas cards at 90% off just for the foil lined envelopes. I buy all colours as you can use also use red at Valentines etc.

I need to reorganize into theme and dedicate this drawer to finished cards and precut, prescored card blanks waiting to be worked. I would like to dedicate another drawer to the envelopes. Currently I have 2 ikea Branna baskets full of gilded exmas envelopes sitting in my M's cubes under my counter!

I am really going to like this week!

Maybe off topic, but with holidays coming and cards, both handmade or store bought coming in the mail.... This was mainly my mother's project before she retired. We used to cut them into bookmarks after the holidays, using the prettiest parts, so the sizes varied. Backed them with plain cardstock to cover up any writing if needed and added an encouraging verse. Then we laminated them and sometimes added a tassle. We passed them out at nursing homes,... It recycled the cards and encouraged others too.

Punchaddict- You know my grandmother saved her xmas cards each year and the following year she would cut out the pretty pictures (or parts of them) or cut out the printed sentiment and make tags for her gifts. I remember some years she would get fancy and use pinking shears to cut them out and add glitter and ribbons... Fond memories.. I save the cards but haven't gotten around to using them yet!

Jo- I don't make many cards-- thats the problem but have purchased things in the past or have gotten things in kits that I never used that would work great on a card. I have these little happy birthday ribbons, little stickers, lots of sayings on Vellum.

I don't have any true "card supplies" I rarely make cards. I just can't get into it. I'd rather buy a cheap card than spend the time making it and know it's getting tossed out. I have made a few when I didn't get a chance to buy one, or if I knew the recipient would enjoy it. But I do have some supplies that would work well for cards that I don't seem to use on my LOs...thinking maybe I should put a few things togegther so they're easier to find at pinch time The big problem with making cards for me is what to write on the inside!!!

Mickey = you actually GIVE cards? hm... what a concept!

I just make, make, make ... rarely send. Let's see: I've been working on this multi-layered Flaky Friend set of cards for two years now and haven't sent-a-one..

Which actually gives me an idea! Anyone want to exchange addresses? I'm actually making this really cute Reindeer card....I'd maybe even send ya' one! This could be ...a ... celebratory mail party for our group!

I have cards coming out my ears both already handmade and blank ones, loose ones and boxed ones I have a problem LOL

I right now have all my cards well most of them in a basket sort of filed sort of just thrown in there, then on the floor because I ran out of room

Now that I am a stamping consultant I have a feeling my collection of cards will continue to get bigger and bigger

Hi everyone! Card week is easy for me. I re-purposed a Peach {as in the fruit} bushel box this summer and pulled all of my envelopes into it. My finished {hoarded} cards sit beside the envelopes, in one of those 9x12 Cropper Hopper accordion dividers. If I ever make as many as the rest of you I may graduate up to the photo box - great idea on that. My 6x6 and 8x8 paper packs sit in this same drawer, too - as the small prints lend themselves more to cards. The letter size cardstock lives in its own little spot next to it's big brother 12x12 cardstock and I don't separate embellies. So that's my card story and I'm sticking to it.

I am in search of envelopes NOW for my Christmas cards. We had a whirlwind (24 hour) trip to Houston for Thanksgiving and DH is in full retail throes and I've got family Christmas this year - 23 coming the 18th - so I'm in definite decorating/baking/clean up the piles mode! Not much time to Pea. Thanks, Jo, for checking on me. Hope you all have a fab holiday and even if I'm not posting, I'm skimming the good stuff!

I know, right!?! (on the pics)

I had my team from school over today to make holiday Reindeer cards before we had Family Night tonight, and so I had to spend the last two nights decorating and cleaning before they got here- so no pics. I've got girlfriend plans tomorrow and Saturday so maybe I can get the pics done this weekend...then again a NEW cricut is calling my name from it's box.

Penny - glad you are well. Once upon a time, Vicki was sending out the Texas Rangers to find me, and I was about to contact them to find you!

I think we need to ADD weeeks (with things I don't have so I can still catch up! )...and I'm good with the name. So realistically = 26 weeks is HALF a year and I STILL don't have early weeks knocked out. hmmm... maybe i should go cry with my friend Margarita...then again I did lose two huge ugly shelves (and then missed them afterwards) and bought two new glass cabinets (not sure if I told ya'll that I bought another 18" curio display in downtown for just $65 - but it's mostly glass and then I saw the lady who posted "the shed" pictures and now I want to put fabric on the inside of everything). My problem now is how to merchandise them without more shopping.

Tracy - I am living vicariously through your 'go gettum' so keep on keeping on'!

Vicki - go to NYC! Is DD joining you?

Tracy - Just saw your ribbon pics(went to the old challenge). Good for you! When are you doing your stamps? I think I'm tackling mine over Christmas break - if you can wait, we can do 'accountability partners'. (if you're into that ...) I have about 200+ sets to do so it'll take a while.

Those of you who have your ribbon in jars - are you liking it? Penny - are you finding your rubber bands user friendly? I'm debating on this one; I think the jars would look really cute in my glass curio, but I use 3 or 4 inches for a card sometime and not sure it's worth the work..tell me what you think!

I have almost no card stuff (yet!) so I have nothing to organize. Maybe I should go buy some card making stuff so I have something to work withHmmmm.... It's really a good thing though because I wouldn't have touched it anyway as I've been too busy playing with my new cricut!

~~buy me Vicki~~ says a cricut!! You will love me!!!~~~

Joannastamps I was thinking of tackling the stamps this weekend, but I am still making Christmas cards....so we will see LOL.

Just some info. here but I had elastics around some of my ribbon and when I was taking it off, the elastics were dry and brittle and crumbled, some even left a yellowish colour on the ribbon. Now I don't know how long it was stored like that though. I had just used regular office elastics.
Hopefully the hair elastics that some of you are using will be fine.

You don't think Stacy would consider extending this since we're all having such fun? LOL

I used plastic canvas to wrap my ribbon on, cutting a notch the width of the ribbon out of it. I got it in big sheets at Flower Factory super cheap and cut them about 5" high by the 12" width. Then they all fit in a tray and stay in order neatly for me. I can pull one out and take it to a class or retreat when needed. I did it long before this challenge. Don't have photos.

Just noticed time... gotta get to work!

Jo, I do enjoy my ribbon in the jars. It's not hard at all to undo the rubber band and get ribbon and put it back together. Of course, I am such a part-time scrapper anymore!

I have spent a lot of this challenge realizing that I don't have many hours a week to devote to this. Streamlining all my stuff makes any time I do have much more productive. But, it has been a good reality check for me to remember that I am not a paid PRO at this and don't need the set-ups that some of those do....

That being said, I did treat myself to a gift Thursday night. I ran to Ikea and got a big white marshmallow chair! The chair I have in there right now is a $5 my company moving selling old furniture chair. I've definitely got my $5 out of it - and it has probably cost me many dollars in massages!

I am hopeful to get my chair put together today so that I can enjoy it while putting together my Christmas cards.

Two weeks from today there will be 23 people under my roof and I am trying not to freak out!

Off to pick up a sale item at Target and get my Christmas cut and color! Ya'll have a super day!

Jo- I chose not to wrap my ribbon with rubberbands. Just wrapped it into a circle and shoved the tail into itself. And its working find for the most part. I don't have a ton of ribbon so I don't see it as a problem. And I still have the ribbon on the spools on the tension rod... As I haven't found a better solution.

Penny- I had that same realization. Only so many hours in a day.. its a hobby that I enjoy but I don't want to be a slave to it. I totally love the changes to my room and I have learned alot about myself and the way I scrap along the way. I still have changes and tweeks to do when time and finances allow.

This holiday stuff has made me put off some of my card making chores this week... and it might be January before I get to them... who knows!

Tracy- I am cheering for you! I know its got to be tough pushing through all the weeks!!

Kelly-- I can't hear you lalalala

Off to wrap some presents.. I have dh's birthday party here next saturday and that means not only does the house need to be cleaned and food cooked but that I can't have xmas presents strewn around the house unwrapped for prying eyes to see!

Okay Vicki - one of us has to move! I seriously! need an accountability partner.....I went shopping AGAIN! One of the Peas here had a sale from her online biz and I bought things I should not have....but it was fun! Bought a calendar to alter, an accordian folder to alter, some paper, and embellies (such as Primas). {sigh} I'm beginning to think I should change my hobby title to "collector of scrap/stamp good" instead of cropper/stamper.

I did stamp with girls from school yesterday and the day before. They got cards finished - I spent most of my time helping them.

Today I went on a Holiday Home Tour and toured the COOLEST house! One of the houses belonged to one of the guys who was on Ross Perot's team who went in and rescued some employees om 1979 that the military couldn't get to ... He knew a Russion cosmonaut and has his uniform....the stuff in his house was so cool. I'm going to bed right now and journal all about the cool stories I heard today and about my girlfriend who took the cell phone of the Trolley man, so he could personally come get us. It was pretty funny!

Penny - if you need a cheerleader, check back with us! You can do it! I have total faith that an extensive list has been made and you will be workin' it.

I have to take down part of my scraproom as one of my work tables sits in the bay window where we put our tree. BUT! I am gearing up to finish ideas binder over break and to make my stamp binder.

Here's hoping we stay in touch and can continue our 'chats'.

Well, I have to say - I'm so proud of your ladies! Especially after so many naysayers bailed when they heard the length of this challenge. I think the time went pretty quick, and hopefully you got something out of it!

I think we should move this forward. Maybe get together a group that's willing to travel and do a scraproom makeover ambush? Because you all are pros now, you realize? You can do this on your own.

But I don't want to do it on my own. I need the power and feedback from the Wookie-teers. LOL

Again Thank you Stacy for all the effort that you have put into this. I just wish I would have started sooner.
