Carla, I can send you Mars bars anytime you like, they're one of my fav.

We also still have the Tostitos Restaurant Style Salsa, the only kind I buy.

I miss root beer popsicles. Cannot find them anywhere here. One other thing that we can't get or don't have here, chocolate covered potato chips, YUM. I think I got them a couple of times either in Fargo or Minnesota, can't remember for sure.

Bacon Thins crackers

There's a product in Canada called Bacon Dippers...I think they're probably the same thing with a different name because they're lumped in with the Wheat Thins and Vegetable Thins. You can see them on this page.

I miss Brown Sugar Cinnamon flavoured Pop-Tarts. We used to have them in Canada, but they discontinued them. I stock up whenever I cross the border or whenever friends do. One time, in a little gas station in a tiny NH town at 3 am (it was the only one around and open for miles and miles and we thought we were going to run out of gas until we found it...we were quite scared for awhile!) I bought out their entire stock of Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts.

Other things mentioned on this thread I miss: McDonald's Pizza, Crystal Clear Pepsi.

Also, I used to go to a restaurant in Toronto that had poutine with Montreal smoked meat on top (I ate it about once a week when I lived nearby!) and now that I've moved, it's what I go for when I go back. But when I recommended it to some friends from Europe who were going to Toronto, they said it was closed! (And this was a 24-hr restaurant, so I had to investigate.) A friend who worked there said they shut down just before the friends went there. I couldn't believe it...now I'll never have it again!

How funny that you would peas would mention the Mcdonalds pizza. I was in there the other day and commented on the new Mac wraps. The guy there said they were also going to get cakes and pizza later in the year!

Now what do I miss?
The original Girl Scout thin mints. The use to have a shortbread cookie with huge sugar crystals on top, that was dipped in the mint chocolate. so yummy.

The lemon toosie pop. Not the lemon tootie pop roll, but one with the stick that has the hard lemon candy with a chocolate tootsie roll inside it. It had a yellow wrapper.

I also wanted to add original Orange crush, the original had real orange in it. Just as well since I have developed an allergy to oranges.

For those that miss Lemon Coolers: I found Lemon Cookies by Niche Foods in Walnut Creek, California. The box is very similar to the Lemon Cooler box and it says "Cooler Than Ever!" on the outside. Taste and texture were the same too! The website is www.nichefoodsco.com.

Milkshake candy bars. They were the best and lately I have wanted one bad. I even checked to see if they were available any where at all so I could order some. Alas, no luck.

Those bundt cake mixes that had the tunnel of fudge in the middle.

I have a recipe for this if you are interested...really easy to make but it contains walnuts (which are for some reason, essential for the success of the recipe). Awesome cake!

I miss Thunder crunch potato chips, they were these impossibly crunchy thick potato chip, with wicked flavors..BBQ and jalepeno...

also Mcdonalds pizza...oh yum.

I've always made my own chocolate covered potato chips -- I've never seen them for sale anywhere. They're super easy to make and SO yummy! I always use some kind of chip with ridges (Ruffles or store brand) because the ridges make a stronger chip imo. You can either drizzle with melted chocolate (pretty) or completely dip them. Either way, they never last long!

I've been looking all over for swiss cheese flavored/shaped crackers. My grandma LOVES them and we can't find them anywhere.

I'm also looking for Canada Dry Diet Tonic for my dad... he had it somewhere, and I've looked all over here for it, to no avail

I miss many of the things mentioned too:
Freshen up squiry gum- my grandma always bought it and it brings back fond memories
Real Jello pudding pops
and the Oreo big stuffs! I LOVED those!

While I can't help with the Crystal Pepsi or the cheese balls, Fruit Stripe gum does still exist. I found it at a candy store this summer and had to buy it so my dd could try it out. She loved it, but it wasn't quite as good as I once thought it was.

Fizzies. It makes me sad my kids have never known the joy of a fizzie!!

The candy I miss: Bit-O-Honey and Turkish Taffy

Wheat Hearts cereal, it was like Malt-O-Meal but better, I'd love to find out what happened to that stuff, it was great!!

I totally remember the jingle for Crispy Critters: "the one and only cereal that comes in the shape of animals" -shrug- writing it down doesn't quite do it justice.

They still sell Bit-O-Honey here. The Snicker's almond is the same as the Mars bar, only larger. They still sell Big Hunk bars at 7-11 here. I eat them in the summertime. I leave one, fully wrapped, in the seat of my car to get warm and gooey!

I miss:
Lime Coke (only sold in diet here)

Marathon bar!! (not going to buy a case. It would go stale before I could eat it all...or else I'd gain 10 pounds trying to eat it before it went stale!)

Bacon thins!! (When I was a kid we used to eat these with the pimento cheese spread from the jar after we came in from swimming all afternoon. SO good!!)

Carnation Breakfast bars
ANd Carnation Breakfast drink-I can't find it anymore!!

Peanut butter Snack'n Cake!! (we used to make them into peanut butter brownies and roll them in powedered sugar!

And finally, what happened to the Nabisco chocolate cookies?? They were like super thin oreo cookies without the cream. I LOVED those!! I think they were supposed to be primarily for crushing up and making chocolate pie crusts, but I would just eat them plain. I've never been big on the Oreo cream filling. (unless it's the peanut butter cream!)

I also used to drink Clearly Canadian all the time too, so yummy.

I am sad to see that Planters no longer makes cheese balls. How could they stop making those?

Brach's Chocolate Covered Cherries!!!! Yes, I know there are other brands, but none of the compare to Brach's! They quit making them several years ago and I really miss them, especially this time of year. It was a tradition for my grandmother to give me a couple of boxes for Christmas. After she died, my mother continued giving them to me. I also have a good friend that loved them as much as me, and we always gave each other some around Christmas.
