I was thinking he is old enough to clean himself...you may want to clarify what a bed buddy is?

I always thought it was something like rice inside, so I was afraid it would be ruined if it got wet. When ours got grubby I threw it in the back of the closet to have as a spare and bought a new one. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone knows a safe way to clean though.

I just googled and this thread was the third on the list . I couldn't find any info other than that covers are sold for them to keep them clean. I'm guessing this means you can't put it in water.

Yeah my friend said it had rice in it and when I heard that I thought I can't imagine being able to wash that. But I was trying to be a good friend and help her out.

I am guessing there might be removal covers that you can use and that would be washable.

you can't throw it in a washer, but if you move all the corn/rice to the very end and rubber band it you can wash the material at the other end in a bleach detergent solution by hand. when that end is dry move the corn/rice stuff to the other end and repeat. when it is dry. I split the stuff up equally on both ends and washed the middle. worked great for me, anyway.

If you throw your bed buddy in the closet to use as a spare, do you have to throw food in there?

and really why do you need a spare?

Considering the replacement cost is just $12, if my bed buddy was a dirty bed buddy, I would put him the kirby and get myself a new one.

Although since mine is six feet tall, he could probably escape the kirby before the trash collector comes around.

I'm sorry but I cannot help you with a product that has the word moist *shudder* on the box to describe it.

Use the washing instructions posted by evenstarsb. Then make a removable cover for it.

or...

Buy a new one. Make a removable cover for it.
