Danis first Daisy meeting is tomorrow (new troop) and I'm a slacker - I don't have anything on her vest. Do I need to iron all of this on? the troop number and the daisy? Do they get the Daisy right away or do they need to earn it????

I'll check when I wake up - hopefully someone who is up tonight knows

It has been years since I've been a Daisy leader but no, you don't put the whole daisy on... each petal and also the middle need to be earned as they learn the Promise and the Law.

I honestly don't remember ever having the Troop number or any other insignia on the vest, other than the Daisy but if you do have those things, they can go on right away. Also the Daisy pin can be put on right away (although you might not have that one yet... some leaders give them out in the beginning and some save them for middle or end of the year ceremonies).

Don't feel bad about "slacking". I've been a GS leader for 15+ years and I'm embarrassed to admit there were times that I resorted to stapling a badge on just so DD could wear it to the meeting...always promising myself after sewing it on correctly later that I'd never do that again....uh, yeah.....

Mely, this might help.
Daisy Insignia chart

They've changed things a lot since Anya was a Daisy. Basically, anything that isn't earned can be attached ahead of time. This would include the flag, council patch, and troop numerals. If she already has her Daisy and World Trefoil pins, they can be attached too. When Anya was a Daisy they didn't get their pins until the investiture ceremony. That may be different now too.

The daisy petals and anything else that has to be earned is not attached until all the requirements for the petal or badge have been completed.

ETA, the participation patches and pins go on the back of the vest or tunic, not on the front. Here's a list of the different items: Insignia List

Daisy leader here...
All that should go on is your council patch, the flag and your troop numbers. She should be getting her pins at the investiture ceremony, and the daisy petals have to be earned. Your troop leader should tell you when they've earned the petals and you put them on as you go. Put on the three things above, and you should be good to go!

Thank you DeeKaye for reaffirming my methods of madness - I too stapled when I ran out of time - and I was a leader too - for over 8 years!

All I can say is I am so thankful that my dd's Daisy leader has a sewing business and she voluntarily sews all the girls patches, etc. on their tunics for us.

My oldest dd's troop hardly ever wears their sashes for anything. Needless to say she just has the flag, troop number, etc. on hers. Everything else is in a box somewhere in her room.

My 2 cents is that it's easier to sew them on...every patch I have ironed has eventually fallen off (and some were lost).

Really? Daisies sell cookies? Well, that's new since I was in the Daisy Biz (12 years ago and then again 7 years ago...). Daisies never sold cookies.... that didn't start until Brownies. Hmmm!

Dee, Daisies were able to start selling cookies last year--my youngest dd's first year.

I kind of wish they would have left it so that Daisies can't sell cookies because I have an older dd. We had to split the cookie sales between them last year (they each got 100 boxes sold). This year we are really struggling getting orders. We have only sold a total of 30 boxes so far.
