Hello & welcome to the 2nd month of Patterned Paper Every Which Way!

This month we are cutting strips of patterned paper and having a little fun with them!

How can you dress up your layout with simple strips of Patterned Paper?
A million and one ways! Wide strips, skinny strips, horizontal, vertical, strips cut into a shape, tone on tone strips, strips with the same pattern but different colors...you get the idea! Strips are one of the easiest ways to use patterned papers, especially those that you find a bit busy to use in large doses. Most of my layouts aren't done until I have a skinny strip of striped paper on it somewhere.

You can see the class project here ....and download the class PDF as well.

Each month we will have a challenge associated with the class. This month your challenge is to create a layout/card/project on which you've used strips of patterned paper as the primary embellishment or as the background. Try to use them in a way you've never done before!

To participate in the Challenge:
Please note the corrected Challenge dates!!!!

-Create a project using strips of patterned paper as the primary embellishment or background.

-Layout can be Digital, Traditional or a Hybrid.

-Submit your layout by uploading to the gallery by March 9, 2010 11:59 CST. Don't forget to click the box next to this class (Patterned Paper Every Which Way: February 2010).

I will pick a winner randomly from all the submissions to win a Gift Certificate to Two Peas and post the winner on the Education Board on March 10th. For every submission to this class you will earn a badge!

This is perfect. I keep a plastic bag with tons of left over strips of PP. Now I only have to use them. Thanks for the great challenge, Shannon.

Shannon I love the LO you did for this month! I recently tried pleating pp for the first time, so I'm excited to try this technique too...similar look but with multiple pieces of paper.

Awesome challenge for this month! I have tons of scraps I can use for this. Love your layout too - it's cool how you folded the strips instead of just adhering them flat!

Perfect timing! We have a snow day today so no school (I'm a teacher). I can scrap today! I love your layout and I think I'm going to try the folded strips like you did.

Thanks for the class!

Did it! I tried the folding like Shannon did, but I just couldn't make it work, so I went a different way with the strips. I used all papers from a K&Co pad (Urban Prarie). Here it is:

Thanks for the challenge, I always need a little push to try something new!

I am finally justified in keeping all my scraps for a rainy day. I just cut long strips and then cut the ends on the diagonal to frame my layout. I think it creates a bold embellishment for my primary coloured snow layout.

Joni

12x12 Snow Layout

I have also created a 12x12 boys layout where I used just a few long strips of paper which I sewed to the 12x12 sheet. I wanted a fun and energetic embellishment and I think these strips of paper did the job!

I used a few strips on my digital page. I rarely use strips of paper, so push me out of my comfort zone!

I love this lesson! Having tons of strips of patterned paper in my scraps, haven't the heart to throw away any of them. I've made a digital page for now, will definitely try the trifold technique too! Thank you for inspiration!!!

Saw this challenge and had to do it! I love having a reason to us up some of my scraps!! I did not do this challenge in Jan. Is that okay? I was not sure if I had to sign up somewhere? I am new to the MB/challenge thing.

Hi everyone!

I followed along and used strips of pattern paper to create a woven piece for a layout...

Here is my LO, I got a little carried away with the strips of paper. I'm not much of a scrapbooker, but am trying to do an album of my very spoiled little dog. I've only gotten 3 pages done in 6 months LOL, so this was a great motivator.

My paper came in stripes but that did not stop me from cutting them loose and using them for weaving. They make nice corner elements.
