Can someone please tell me the difference between the two? Does M's carry both? I know all Sizzix products are 40% off this week, and I have been wanting one for a long time.

Also, can I use my new Letterpress with a big shot and/or big kick?

How about all the platforms & dies from SU?

And the new embossing templates/plates from Tim Holtz?

Sorry for the 20 questions... I just want to make the best decision!!

Thanks in advance

The BigShot has a better handle and the base is flat on the inside, the BigKick isn't flat on the inside (at least MOST of the models) and the handle isn't as easy to grab!

The reason I have a BigShot is I did like the way it was made better and the bonus was I loved the teal color it came in and a great sale. Go to the Sizzix website and look. The only thing is, the periwinkle BigKick looks like a cross between the two!

Don't know about the letterpress but it should work with everything else with the multi-purpose platform. The Cuttlebug embossing folders work with multi-purpose. The plastic embossing plates like Fiskars... you need the kit from Sizzix that works with Sizzix plastic two-sided embossing plates.

AngieandSnoopy,
Do you have a link to the kit from Sizzix for the embossing templates?

Does the Big Shot or Big Kick come with a multi-purpose platform?

Thanks!

I have the Big Shot - and I thought they were pretty much the same as the Big Kick - but based on the previous poster, I guess not.

I bought the Big Shot for 2 reasons: 1) like the color better than black and white and 2) I was able to support my friend's SU business instead of a chain. I was in a club and waited until my turn to hostess, and then I used my hostess money to reduce the price.

I had a Cuttlebug, and got the BS after using it and falling in love with BIG XL dies. I couldn't use the SU platforms on the cuttlebug with that.

besides the looks and a few differences that have been said, another difference is this,

Big Shot is ONLY sold to independant stores and Stampin Up.
Big Kick is ONLY sold to chain stores.

Ellison (who makes Big Shot) now owns Sizzix. I used to work in a LSS and had a customer who absolutely only wanted the Big Kick, so i had to call and find out why we couldn't get it. i personally LOVE the BS better than the BK, i have used both, the BK seems more awkward to me. sorry for the rambling, just wanted to through my 2 cents in.

I know the Big Shot comes with the multi-purpose platform (which is awesome!) but I can't speak for the Big Kick.

Whether they come with the multi-purpose platform, just depends on the "set". Some BigShots do, some don't. I didn't realize WHO carried the BigSHot and who didn't! I got mine from Sizzix's eBay store on a sale.

What you need for the double sided texture plates like the Fiskars or Sizzix is an impressions pad and silcone rubber sheet. They can be bought separately or in a kit that also has some impression plates. Just go to the Sizzix website and go to product "Texturz".

Oh, I didn't realize that. I was just going by SU and the few that I've seen advertised. Thanks for the info!
