Good morning Organizing Peas!

This week, we're going to organize our projects, unfinished pages, and kits...

This is one of those "gray areas" for me, as in I have so many projects & kits that the majority of them are just on a shelf in my closet. Because I don't scrap traditionally much anymore, I have practically nothing as far as unfinished pages. I think I'm going to try to come up with an "out of sight" solution for all of these things, maybe a few containers with lids. I mean, I still have both the P365 and PLife kits, which I swear I'll get to, sooner or later.

Question of the Week: Do you subscribe to monthly kit clubs? Do you have a: "use it within a month or organize it into your stash" rule? Do you always seem to end up buying coordinating kits when you shop?

I subscribe to Studio Calico. I made myself choose only one. I automatically organize everything into my stash within a day or two of getting it. I have a serious problem with the project and page kits that you can buy at the craft stores... I'm very slowly starting to realize how much I like "stuff"-both scrapbooking and otherwise, especially pretty "stuff."

Oh, and one more thing: scrappnbee, where's "our" weekly blog entry? Everyone so seems to enjoy reading it... I know, I miss it!

Crisann, thanks so much for keeping this going. It would be so overwhelming without this group

Answer to your question, I did subscribe to Kits for about a year. Left them in the bags they came in, but I like your idea of putting it in with the stash. I also like Wookiemouse suggestion,

I want to quickly share one neat tip I found to keep track of your kits - take a picture of each one with all the contents spread out. You can then keep this with the kit itself (so you don't have to search through the whole kit), or in a separate notebook.

I bought a couple of boxes of Large Hefty ziploc bags at T last week, and I hope to organize small projects in those. Albums are already in 13 x 13 Iris boxes, so nothing to do there.

I think I will make a digital list of projects instead of the popsicle sticks idea. But I do think I need to purge some of the projects, because chances are I will never go back to some of them.

Question of the Week:
No, I do not subscribe to a kit club - I have done in the past but I found that the balance of things I was receiving didn't suit the way I scrapped (too much pp, not enough cardstock, to much "matchy" stuff, very themed stuff - like in Feb it would ALWAYS be pink & red & heartsy & I just don't scrap pink & red & hearts!)

I don't have a huge number of unfinished projects/kits but there are some. I'll post again when I've thought what to do with them!

I don't subscribe to monthly kits but I SO badly want to, not that I want to scrap them exactly the way they are made but rather its the part of me that wants to collect things. I've filled out the forms and gotten ready to subscribe and then logic kicks in and I end up not doing it.I really don't need them. Besides I think looking at the stuff I already have stashed away speaks volumes to me that I probably wouldn't get them done. I'm really badly tempted with the ones that include stamps because I am a hopeless stamp-a-holic(I kinda dread the week we do stamps).I'm glad I haven't given in yet (not promising that I never will though)

I got a kit for 6 months last year until the company went under. I liked getting a package in the mail every month and it was nice to get a variety but there always seemed to be a few things that were just not my style. There are a few that call out to me but with the shipping to Canada it always ends up being more than I want to spend.

I do however have many unfinished projects

There are some ongoing minibooks that are kept with my completed minis and about a half dozen that are in various stages of completion. They are all gathered together and in their own craftkeeper envelopes. And I printed off a bunch of the BH sheets that wookie links to in her blog to keep track of pages I want to complete. Overall I'm pretty happy with my system but there are definitely some of these projects that I would like to finish up and get out of my supply space.

I don't let them stack up. I only integrate the stuff that is left over.

I do subscribe to a monthly kit club. I've subscribed to only two over my scrapping life time, but I'm happy with the one I have now. It's not really economical (shipping to Norway essentially means twice the price), but it's fun!

I have a month's kit in a Generations pouch, and a year's worth of kits on a shelf of my Expedit. Anything left over after a year is either tossed, donated or put into my stash. It works for me.

I've read so much about making your own kits lately. I haven't made any before. I'm inspired to put together some kits to make scrapping easier for crops and such. I was at a crop last month (my first..), and spent a lot of time flipping through stuff. I want to make the process faster next time.

My unfinished projects have found a home in a basket in my Expedit, too. I like the popsicle idea, though.

Thankfuly I don't subscribe to kit clubs. Maybe that's too much of a committment that I will actually scrap anything.

As far as unfinished pages, I have put those in 2 gallon zip lock baggies. They are filed in a crate along with my patterned paper. I have also labeled them by theme or event.

I'm almost done with paper week, and pretty much finished with photoweek. I need to take this week and play catch up!

I do not subscribe to a monthly kit club, have a stash rule or buy coordinating kits. However, I do have a ton of projects that I want to start and unfinished projects that mostly need journaling. I have zero organization in this area. They are in several different locations.

So happy to hear you're nearly done with the previous weeks you've worked so diligently on.

I actually just finished a layout that has been hanging around my space wanting good journaling (to replace the crappy journaling I originially did) for about a year... Go me, too

A question for y'all; Do you separate out the newest and bestest of supplies and keep it separate for a while?

No monthly kits here.
I found 12 projects and LO that are unfinished i put them in page protectors in an empty album marked them with sticky notes by number. Stil thinking if i will do some kind of jar or leave it like it is.
Done for this week!
Have not dicided what to do with my sketsches yet. My SAD is very bad right now

and my creativity is completly gone at this point.
If anyone has ideas, welcome!

Hey everyone! Glad to see you all making progress! Keep up the good work!

And I did look for the Scrapnbee blog too. I miss it! where are you?

As for kits: I don't have any subscription. I would like it, I love to get packets and post in general! And overall, you get so much for your money...But I'm not sure I would use most of the supplies, so all would end up in the stash. In the end I would only cost me money...

Unfinished projects: got one LO and one minibook. The have a place together since this week.

So far so good, however...: I have a whole lot of stuff I keep to get altered some day. When I was clearing out most of the room I found 6 (!) wooden teaboxes.

And they are accompanied by a dozen of small boxes, many small and larger tins, some pringles packaging and so on.... A small closet full of empty packaging it is. And on top of that I have some paper mache letters that need to be dressed up, 6 empty 8x8 albums I once bought because they were cheap, and some storage that need to be altered to fit in with the colours of my craftroom.

I guess I have some issues...

No monthly kit here. I am now a "kit-it-myself" sort of girl. Now that I can find everything I own, life is so much better.

Toward the end of the challenges (somewhere around week 27 or 28), the issue of new stuff is brought into the discussion. I can tell you by the time you reach that point in the process, you'll think of new stuff in a new way. You'll ask yourself: Do I really love it? Is it "integration-worthy"?

Keep going on the journey! I know it's hard and time-consuming but it will be worth all the work in the end. Good Luck!

Crisann, I was thinking when you posted about the "stuff" in your bedroom if that bothered your SO! My DH would not be happy. At all. You should see my scrap room. I barely have paths to walk through. I hope I don't fall trying to navigate the absolute disaster. Only saving grace is I can close the door and no one sees my "stuff."

Nantini, I know I'll keep finding things. My fear is once I find it I will not be able to incorporate it. I haven't allowed room for much expansion. You say, "Who put that there?" I say, "Who bought all this? And, what in the heck was that person thinking?"

Andibb, thanks for the encouragement. It is always uplifting to hear from the previous group! I already understand that I will question everything to determine integration worthiness. Already am.

ScrappnBee, please post here and let us know everything is OK. We miss your blog update but we miss you more!

I will post later on my progress on this week's challenge.

Crisann, just wanted to throw some support your way. For years living in a house full of noncrafty people, I got moved from room to room. Seems like as soon as I got set up somewhere there would be a reason why we had to swap my craft stuff to a different area. I had forgotten about that, until I read your post. So, I understand where you are. Hope getting organized helps you keep your area manageable and contained where you can enjoy it, and it doesn't bother the family. Hang in there

angie and june-it's a wonder none of my stuff has found a new home in the garbage, considering it's been scattered throughout our bedroom for about 5 weeks now. i think he just figures it's easier to ignore it at this point. most of it, i've atleast picked up and moved into a corner, so it's not in the middle of the floor anymore like it was for the first two weeks. lol...

Some things are in our bedroom, but I managed to hide them for hubbie... he is already a little upset with the guestroom being stuffed with my supplies But I keep telling him it is for a good cause: once this challenge is over, all his craftsupplies will fit in our craftroom also... (At least I hope so... )

Sorry to worry oyu gals! my laptop has been comondeered by my 6th grader lately, and to be honest I am an Olympics junkie, and didn't push the issue (there is a resaon me and my DH get along!).

I am back, and did do my Monday blog. I am officially a week behind, but will tackle that mountain that is projects!

YEA, she's baaaaaaaack! Loved the newest entry on your blog, ScrappnBee. This entire process is the hardest thing I've done in a while but it sure is made easier reading and relating to your blog as well as to everyone else's posts.

ScrappnBee, I am mesmerized by the Olympics, too. Love them so much that I am torn this week over watching my favorite, America Idol, or the games. Guess I'll have to record AI, which is 2 hours both Tues. & Wed. nights. Geez!

Anyway, just wanted to say I am glad you are OK and have rejoined our ranks.

Scrapnbee - I tried to reply on your blog but for some reason couldn't get signed in. I'm glad my page protector idea will work for you as well. I wanted to let you know that I don't really worry too much if I like both sides but they fit different categories. I put it into the category that I like the best. And I got my page protectors really cheap at a local business supply store, like 200 for $20. That should get you started at least

It would be soo much easier to scrap and organize if you weren't positively sure that Bob Costas was spying on you and cue-ing the most memorable moment in olympic history every time you look down to your work! ...sorry. my paranoia kicking in...

And yes, I know where you are in this magazine issue. I'm scanning some things, but the more I scan the more I don't like the idea to have it all on my computer and not been able to flip thru... The Idea binder is a lovely thing, but I'm still not willing to tear down my presious magazines... However I've made the decission to not let re-enter my old magazines in my room, so they don't eat in at all the space on my shelfs...

Hi Crisann, I agree, we're a bit quiet. Running out of steam? Or hunkered down in organization-land? I'll admit to a little bit of both

These past weeks have been fast-paced at work, and I find myself slumped in front of the TV in my "free" time.... I'm working on organization, but not the week's topic. A little bit here and there.

A big plus is that I have started to scan the dreaded heritage photos I've been complaining about. Scanning ten at a time and it's not so overwhelming, actually.

I have a chest of drawers from IKEA, think it might be the discontinued Fira. Its unfinished look was boring the heck out of me, so last weekend I primed and painted it. Actually, I was inspired by the colors of a scrapbooking organization book, and I used MM paints, so I consider it sort of scrapbooking

Apart from that we've gone from really cold (-20 F) to just below freezing in the last day, and now it snows - so the weather is exciting, at least..

How are things in PA? I miss PA... Used to live there... Not Pittsburgh, but I've been there to get stuff at IKEA...

Well, I've been hunkered down working really hard on my scrap room! I am finishing this week's challenge today. I had accumulated numerous page kits and layouts over the years from attending classes, conventions, etc. I started by going through each one and removing what I simply didn't like and knew I would never finish. Very freeing, by the way.

Next, I utilized 2 silver mesh file folder boxes on wheels I already had. Each box holds exactly 18 CH paper pouches. I numbered the sides with my label maker as suggested by wookiemouse on her blog and placed each unfinished page in a pouch. I rolled the carts under my hanging shelves in my scrap room closet.

I also went yesterday to HL and purchased what I need to duplicate wookie's stick idea. I even purchased the ribbon she has on hers to dress them up! So, today's goal includes completing this.

I have subscribed or periodically purchased monthly kits on and off throughout the years. I, again following wookie's blog (I am so impressed with her plan!), broke them up and then photographed the contents of just the newest ones.

Oh, and I am still working on last week's challenge by going through 3-4 mags or idea books each night and ripping out what I want to keep. I have set aside tomorrow to file away those ripped out pages. I discovered I love ripping out pages.......go figure!

Additionally, I have read and reread wookie's blog for next week and given my embellishment storage much thought. I went ahead and ordered some storage solutions so I wll have what I need.

I skipped ahead to this challenge and LOVED Wookie's ideas! I now have all my unfinished pages, kits and projects together in one place.

Then I used a pretty vase and raided my kitchen for some wood kabob sticks. I made a label for each project/kit/page and attached them to the kabob sticks. Put them in the vase and voila! It's really cute.

I pulled out some projects and took them to a crop last weekend. I got them all done! What fun to take those 'flags' out of my vase and get those things done and off my mind!

Q&A: A long time ago I did Club Scrap for a year or so. I enjoyed it but once the kits started backing up I knew it was time to stop. Now, that I've purged and lessened my scrap spending I have no desire to join anther club.

I'm really enjoying these organizational threads.

I know I am a week late and a dollar short on this challenge, but I love the idea of how to get all those unfinished pages done (most need journaling), and the class projects from the last few years . . . what a great idea wookie mouse has.

As for monthly kits, never had a desire . . . stash has always been, well . . . shall we say sufficient? But I have gone a little crazy at the annual CK convention and have bought a few matching lines that are like kits.
