I'm not an avid Goodwill shopper, but when I'm in, I see little signs saying that purple or red or whatever is the color of the week.. What does that mean?

I suppose I could have asked someone who worked there, but I guess I didn't wonder that badly

Thanks!

Usually it means that items with that color price tag are half price.

The Goodwill I go to (75 miles away) has a sign hanging up with different colored tags- 50%, 30% and 10% off for that day or week. When we walk in, we ask the cashier what the "mystery discount" is- another colored tag is 75% off, but it's not posted, you have to ask. There usually aren't many of the "mystery discount" colored tags left, but I always ask.

At mine it's 50% clothes with that color tag. Only applies to clothing.

Our district does not run sales, other than the senior day which is every Tuesday.

Our tags are white with a circle of color in the middle. The reason for this is it tells the employees which week the item went out. Every week is a different color, and there are 5 different colors. Everything stays on the floor a month, then that color is baled(removed and put in bins) for selling in bulk to overseas missions or communities.

The clothing, when sold in bulk for a penny a pound or whatever it is now, is used for it's original purpose or shredded and made into insulation for homes and schools. Goodwill is a "green" company, in that our unsold items are recycled to other places for other purposes. I was told this past winter a lot of stuff went out to the former Soviet union for the villagers there. Shoes and books are also baled and sold in bulk.

Ours do, here in Southern California. 50% off of the color of the week's tags (and I think they change them on Saturday here). I found a Le Cruset casserole dish marked $3, and the sticker was the right color...I love finds like that.

At the thrift stores around here, it is all items that are marked with that color are 50% off. The way they do it, is that each day they mark and put out things is a color, it is usually 8 different colors, and they change the color once a week (so saturday whatever color they change it to, is the things that they put on the floor 8 days before) that way they are getting rid of the new things. Hope that makes some sense
