Alright ladies!

This week, we're organizing our paint, glitter, & stickles. My solution to this week is pretty baskets.

Here's our links:

wookiemouse's blog

original two peas thread

Question of the Week: If you could only have one, which would it be?

a. paint
b. glitter
c. stickles

I'd have to choose: a. paint-sooo versatile!

Just a bit of a back-story, I've gotten totally side-tracked, obviously. I am going to get everything caught up this weekend, one way or another. I've been helping s/o w/ his business and he's completely worn me out. There's this thing called: "manual labor" that I am so not cut out for-especially cutting grass. On a positive note, I haven't hit anything w/ the zero-turn yet... give me another week or two, and I'm sure I will...

And last, but not least, this week: I would like to know who has been posting on these threads since week 1, as in who started this challenge the week of January 1... I'm not worried about whether or not you've completed each week right now, but I am *curious* who we still have from the "original group"... so far, I know:

~crisann~
scrapnbee
elinemom
j*scraps
fastmommie

but I know that there's atleast a few more, so who else?

Thanks Crisann.

Always a pain when life gets in the way of scrapbooking.

QOTW - Paint! no thought required.

The paints are corralled in a CD storage box in the cubbies. I want to put a colour swatch on the bottle tops so that I don't have to get out every bottle to find the right one.

I don't have much in the way of glitter or stickles so for right now they are living with my extra adhesives.

I thought you'd died... Now you get NO flowers! LOL

Ok, I'm going to choose stickles if I have to choose just one. I just got the new Tim Holzt distressed stickles. Walnut stain, vintage photo and frayed burlap. I'm in luv!

Oh and I just chunk all this stuff in a drawer together. How's that for organization?

Question: If I can only choose one, I would have to pick paint. Love the distress and crackle ones.

That was a great question Crisann! Made me really think about how I work, and what I really enjoy.

Think I will follow your lead and use a basket I have not filled yet.

Have a great weekend all,

I think Nantini har caught the dreaded virus organzatiora impatiensis and I've heard it's contagious

QOTW: I'd choose paint. In a heartbeat. I just recently got into glitter and stickles - paints I've played with much longer.

I've had my paints in two IRIS shoe boxes. They've been stacked in my closet. I think I'll tidy them up abit and put them closer to my desk. I only have three bottles of stickles and a tiny bit of glitter. I'll put them close, as well. Then that's that for this week.

My week has been horrible, time wise. This time of year is a bit crazy, and I just collapse on my couch when I get home. No scrapbooking, no organization - nothing can convince me to move my behind off it during weeknights.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow WEEKEND - here I come!

I've been following along each week, reading anyway!

If I could only choose one, I'd choose stickles. My favorite!
Glitter is a close second... but to be honest, I just collect it because its sparkly and pretty! lol I've never actually USED any glitter! and paint? I only own 3 bottles that have never been opened! lol

Mu stickles are stored on my peg board, my glitter in drawers.

elinemom-i so feel you on that. Between my 8-4 job and my s/o's business, I'm ready to take a vacation, or atleast a nap...

electicstuff-upside down... that's my solution anyway. I actually read somewhere that's the "proper" way of storing stickles. I have all of my paint and stickles upside down in baskets, so I can see the color, or atleast get an idea...

I've pretty much been here since week 1. I don't always post but I read and do the project each week. I was doing really well with the organizing until I had to pack up to go to my weekend retreat in March. Then it was like starting all over. But I am trying to keep up and I really do appreciate looking for this thread each week!

Nantini- Inner Hoarder and PA Me want you to join our club. I am a firm believer that Organized Chaos does involve the word organized and should count...right?

elinemom-I am so with you! With work, swim lessons, baseball practice 3x week, cu scouts, boy scouts, and church....I am ready to veg! Tivo anyone?

QOTW: Paint. To quote my favorite Food network guy, Alton Brown, "its not a unitasker". But eventually I will probably convert to stickles...I am off to play in the woods with grown up boy scouts for Outdoor Leadership Training...fun...

I don't really have a lot in the way of paint, glitter and stickles. My paint is all contained in a small basket. I have no glitter and only one bottle of stickles, which is currently in my crop supplies bag.

QOTW - I guess I would choose paint of the three. It is the one that have the most of and use more than the others.

I have been here since week one of this challenge and usually post for each week. I am making progress, even if some of it is only in my head! At least I know where I want to be with each week. If my life settles down a bit, I may actually get some of those difficult weeks done.

Crisann, I was wondering the same thing - who's here? I'd mention the Dutch gals - pitje and Martine-peatime. I'm so happy to see people checking in <3

So, does the volcano eruption on Icelad affect you? I haven't had time to read much about how it influences people other places. Here the airports have been down. It doesn't affect me directly, I'm not going anywhere right now. But I sure hope airports are open for my monthly kit from the US to make it here in early May ...

Now I'll tear myself from the computer and get this week's organizing done, my desk cleaned and take photos of my progress.

Amazingly enough the volcano is affecting us. DH's company was to ship one of their first instruments to Belgium on Monday. After it was a big success (hopefully)and the engineers were allowed to go home, we were going to have a mini vacation. Shipment delayed, vacation delayed.

crisann,

Add me to the list! I've been here since the beginning back in January, posting to each weekly challenge and uploading photos here and on my blog. Love our little group for motivation and support.

Question of the Week: If you could only have one, which would it be?
a. paint
b. glitter
c. stickles

Although I only have a small supply of each of these, I'd probably go with stickles. I can count the bottles I have on one hand, but I really like the effect they add to a project. I did purchase a tube of pearl Create-A-Shade, but I haven't tried it out yet. Maybe that should be a personal challenge for me.

My stickles are stored in that 3-drawer sterlite container with my embossing stuff. I've moved the paint (out of a CTMH distressing kit) over to the stickles drawer so everything is in the same place. That means my distressing kit now holds only the "tools" to distress, such as my texture tools, paint brushes, sanding blocks and edge distresser. My small 1" x 1" distressing inks were also moved out of the kit and into the 3-drawer organizer. I'm amazed how much this little organizer holds. It's time to get out the labeler -

top: stickles, MS glitter/glittering glue, paint, mini distressing inks & fun flock
middle: Staz-On pads, VersaMark pad, embossing powders and sculpting foam
bottom: heat gun, craft tray, stamp double scrubber and chalks

I think I still have enough room to expand my embossing powder collection, so I'm sticking with this organizer. It's the perfect size for the Expedite cubbies and I even have enough space to store my Prismacolor pencil tin on the top. That takes care of week 16 for me.

How's everyone else doing?

*waving* I've been here since the beginning ... well, reading and posting when I can. February and March were rough months around here, but it should be smooth sailing BTW - the new job is going great!! LOVE it!!

I would choose Stickles - I love the extra dimension they add

And, here's to keeping my promise - I have posted photos of my space on my "bloglet".

Carolyn, that IS amazing. It truly is a small world, after all. I hope you get to go on the vacation soon!

I'm enjoying the weekend so much! Got my hair cut and went to a new cafe in the neighborhood (while hubby vacuumed and cleaned - woo-hoo!). Now I'm debating whether to start on a layout or lay down for a quick nap
. I think the nap is winning...

Kris 74 and McLisa, I need some Stickles ideas - I only have three and have difficulty adding them to layouts. How so you use them?

elinemom- it is not just a different mess... your place is looking GREAT! Keep up the good work!

Stickles can be fun because it changes that .59 piece of patterned paper into that 1.69 paper by adding glitter and dimention. Maybe I'll have to use it fo my LO this week...hmmmm...

My challenge to those who will accept...
Make a LO.
In week 1 we did it. Are you happier with the location and ease of use of your stuff yet?

I'll go see about some ink pads now - they say they've been neglected..

Hi all!

Yes, I've been here since week 1. And yes I can see progress in my room. But I'm with the other organised chaos people around here!
I love to read all your blog posts. And I do love to see all the pictures of your progress. I'm not the lucky owner of a working digital camera, so I don't have the nice pictures. My mobile phone does not make pretty pictures. I have to find a way though to let you see my progress....

Hilde- I think your space looks great! You have really made progress. And thanks for mentioning the Dutch division of the organizing challenge. I like the way this challenge is a international thing. I love it when I see things in the pictures of Pitje that are so recognisible for only me LOL. Too bad you are the only Norwegian Pea in this tread.

QOTW: I have to choose paints, because I use paints far more aften than the other stuff. Not on cards or LO's, but on altering projects. Sometime I use paints to stamp with my foam alfa's.
I do have one bottle of stickles and I do love it to put glittery accents on cards. BUT I hate the drying time involved... I don't like to use my heatgun for it, I may be doing something wrong, but it looks different when heatgun dried... not as nice when I let it air-dry...
Glitter... I have a ton, but never use it... Have to give it away or someone here must have a great use for it?

I store the paints in a drawer, my stickles are with the embossing powders and the glitters are in a drawer with some other bling stuff not used for scrapbooking and cardmaking...

I joined just a few weeks ago, and since then life has gotten really crazy! And I will have to rejoin again at a much later date as I now have a new priority! Packing everything! Not just the craft room . . .

We made an offer on a new home, and it was accepted! Anticipated move is prior to June 1, which is before school gets out here. We are doubling our square footage, and I'm trying to decide how to organize the craft room/TV/playroom concept in a converted 2 car garage, which does have an outside window. We will still have an attached 4 car garage, and two more shops that total 3500 sq ft. So I will have time to sort and organize as I move the whole house!

We go in on Monday to do a walk through & plan to take the tape measure and measure EVERYTHING! Also take a few more photos of the rooms I don't have.

Enjoy the rest of your journey and if I have time to check back in, I will!

Hilde - I've done all kinds of things with the stickles ...
added sparkle to "things" on the paper - certain lines on striped paper, flowers on paper, polka dots etc.
add to prima flowers
add to letters cut out on the cricut or alphabet stickers

I just LOVE them! They just seem to make things pop on a page.

Crisann -
OK, so I've been a slacker, this is where I am

Week 1 through 3 (well, maybe not quite the clean slate!!)
Week 4 - all organized, still slowly purging. no room to grow and I've bought a LOT of paper lately!!
Week 5 & 6 - complete!!
Week 7 - still struggling (aka no clue what to do!!)
Week 8 - not bad, well on the way
Week 9 - still working on, coming along.
Week 10 & 11 - complete!!
Week 12 - need to purge more, but not too bad
Week 13 - organized but need to purge more and get index completed.
Week 14 - complete
Week 15 - not bad, well on the way

hmmm, I'm noticing a trend on the lack of purging... any ideas on that??

QOTW-Paint

All you Stickles fans aside, I have one lonely Stickles. I have like 3 Martha glitters that I bought when she was having her glitter contest.. Was it last year or the year before? LOL Anyway, I "glittered" for days afterward! That stuff just stays with you! I used her glitter glue to adhere and hairspray as a fixative, but it was still an issue with me and haven't touched it since.

My paint has already been organized by color fam....

Check in and progress in a minute

No confusion on the vacation thing. We weren't going to Europe just going to take a couple of off days and do a train ride through the mountains and back before tourist season starts.

Weeks 1-3: as done as possible
Week 4 : out of the boxes, sorted into plastic envelopes, no room for expansion though.
Week 5 : Done
Week 6 : A work in progress. For now at least all heritage ones finished.
Week 7 : Can't find my binder (probably with the binder rings) but they're in an envelope ready to go in. Computer stuff - still working on it.
Week 8 : denial
Week 9 : All in baggies, sorted and hung up on a hanger using stray binder rings. Still need to make the cover to keep everything neat when it's in the closet.
Week 10 : Contained. I need a better solution but it hasn't come to me yet.
Week 11 : Sorted and back in the binders. Binders are exploding though.
Week 12 : Sorted and hanging prettily on ribbon rings.
Week 13 : Contained - need to work on this every time I open the zippered binder stamps fall out.
Week 14 : I'll call it done.
Week 15 : (and 16) Needs work. They are sorted but, just tossed into the CD boxes.

ScrappnBee - I did a layout on the weekend and it was beautiful (not the layout), the organisation. I got out what I needed without burying the bedroom (only the bed). No boxes piled on the floor, I didn't have to lift every piece of paper multiple times, no ink pads on the carpet, no melted table cloths, no tripping on totes to answer the phone, so much better.

Yeah!!! Electic stuff I am proud of you, and glad to hear that this Org. Challege is working! and improving yur ease of scrapping.

As for me,all done except...
pre-digital photos not converted
Idea week-still in denial
Stamps-no improvement (contained), but counted and moved downstairs.

Not bad for an admitted procrastinator and non-cleaner.

I'll post pics as soon as I find my battery charger for the camera. It's obviously not in it's place. Funny thing is I have a place for everything in my house and I didn't put it there.

I'm usually around on the weekends, but we had an employee who's dad died Friday, and another who's dad died Sat am. Let's just say I've been at mass a lot this week.

Question about the Stickles.. why are they suppose to be stored upside down? Is it the airbubble?

Hi again, I kinda missed last week, but for me last week and this week go hand in hand because my stickles and re-inkers are organized together and my embossing powder, ink pads and glitter are stored together.

here are the pics of my Glimmer Mist, glitter, embossing powder, pearl-ex powder, sparkling H2o's and ink storage shelf. And my Stickles and re-inkers shelf. I love both shelves. I really didn't have to do anything these two weeks because this is where I've always stored these things (except when I thought the one shelf wouldn't work in the room for a few short months).

My paint is downstairs with the rest of my art supplies (once my kids don't want to be in this room any more I will move them up to my scrap room)

QOTW: Since I usually don't use my paint in my scrapbooking/cardmaking I would have to say I would pick glitter, but my paint is very important to me.

i love how my stickles are organized- Its a take on the velcro storage that several people have done:

I keep my alcohol inks, reinkers and my maya mists on the top of the unit (which is a shelf its sort of hard to see.)

I've been here actively since I think week three? I'm not sure because I did start at the beginning but I think I was behind.

My progress report

Weeks 1-5, done
Weeks 6,7and 8 not even close but I did put all my ideas that I had on my computer into my i-pod, which I love. No paper or magazines to try to find a place for.
Week 9, done
Weeks 10,11, still stacked on my cutting desk, not done
Week 12, done
Weeks 13,14, not done, stamps about halfway through the cataloging
Weeks 15 and 16, done.

No drifting to page three again.

Great job everybody! I'm so jealous of all the shelving.

Did a layout today to see if I was imagining the improvement or not. Definitely not imagined, 20 minutes to clean up! (10 to chase a child) Pics of before, after and the layout if you want to take a look. It's a bit frilly for Sid but I wanted to make a mess. lol

Love everyones progress pictures and layouts.

Crisann, your glass table is so cool.

Where I stand:
Not done:
Ribbons, need to finish winding some as I am using jars sorted by color.
Stamps, I need to index them somehow, but they are all sorted.
Embossing supplies, haven't gotten to those yet.

ScrappinBee,

You are my Inspiration of the Day, creating your own fancy paper with stickles. I bought that paper to use for Irish/St. Paddy's layouts, but now I am really inspired to make it look like yours! Hope you don't mind a copy cat?

WOW pitje!

Your before and after pics really show the difference this challenge is making in your space. It looks awesome! Your hard work during each week has paid-off big time.

I can see why you're happy with the space. Enjoy scrapping in there!

Love that color blue you have as an accent.

I've been around since week 1 but have been away for the last couple of weeks. All for good reason though. My second daughter will be two weeks old tomorrow

I'm hoping to jump back in over the next couple of weeks. Fortunately this week is already done for me. I keep my paint in a plastic container and my brushes in a coffee mug. Stickles are attached to a strip of velcro running along the front of one of my shelves (upside down). And I don't own any glitter.

As for the QOTW: Paint all the way. Although I use stickles more often recently, paint is the long term winner.

Haven't done it yet, but at least I have a plan. I decided I'm going to take all my paints out of my scrap room (in the finished area of the basement) and move them to the workshop area (in the unfinished area of the basement.)

That's where I use them (they're messy,) so why not just store them there. There's a pegboard on the wall that's not in use, so I'm claiming it. I bought some hooks, but I'm still looking around for the right kind of tray or wire basket to keep the little bottles in. But, it will happen.

I have 17 bottles of paint, 3 of stickles and one of glitter so I guess that answers that question!

I've been here since the beginning. Still working on aspects of paper organization and stamps but as this week is easy I'll just keep plugging along!
