This week is where I hit a road block, I have my memorabilia everywhere and every time I look at it I'm very overwhelmed.

QOTW: I really don't know if I have any crazy stuff that I will eventually scrapbook. I guess I should look, you never know maybe I'll find something.

I feel like I'm falling behind. There is so many other things to do right now with it not being winter. I don't think I will be getting around to organizing this week with 2 family member's birthdays. One today and the other on Tuesday so I'll probably plan something on Sunday for them.

OMG, it's happened!

I kept hoping for divine intervention before this.

About all I moved of my scrapping stuff was memorabilia (and albums). Boxes and boxes and boxes of napkins, matchbooks, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, invitations, report cards... and on and on and on. It's scattered everywhere mostly in the same boxes it arrived in!

QOTW: I'll get back to that when I do some unpacking or the Hoarders crew arrives which ever comes first.

Ok I'll admit I do have a problem. My memorabilia are all over the house. I probebly find some in the strangest places. So this will be a long term on going project for me.
The plan is to put them in file folder boxes or in a ringbinder.
So I start with what i have lying around in my scraproom and file that and then when I get around on organizing other closets, cabinets, drawers etc the things i find will get their place aswell.

QOTW:craziest thing is probebly the predictor birth tests of my sons. After 7 years or so i think i tossed them, sadly never thougt about taking a picture of them.... (wasn't scrapbooking back then yet)

This is one area where I know my stuff is corralled into one place .... but I have no idea what to do with it now

My desk has a small hutch with a "cupboard". I've been tossing everything I find around the house into this cupboard. The problem is that it's now too full and there's no organization and I have no clue what's even in there!!

I'll get back to you on the QOTW ... let me get through the chaos first

BTW - Crisann, are you now foster free??

Oh and how are the 52 card picker-uppers?? Still having fun?

Artist-ju - Just keep going!! What if you set a timer for 15 minutes a day and did _______?? After a week of 15 minutes, you'll probably see a huge impact. Give it a try this week and see.

kris - NO! NO! NO! lol... the lady that was supposed to get her got called into work the day she was supposed to come out, then we got a bunch of storms, then i got sick... this just hasn't been a good couple of weeks for any of us, but i emailed the lady from the rescue today and told her to speed things up a bit...

52 card pickup is alot of fun. i did all of the first week's assignments last weekend. will do this week's this weekend. i just haven't really been doing too much during the week...

oh, and i did some more online shopping. ouch! needless to say, i'm outgrowing my space at an alarming rate, but after seeing the @ home w/ claudine class (at bps), i got intrigued and ordered a bunch of her products... and i've also developed an interest in the whole concept of art journals, so got a few more books and... oh, and i ordered a bunch of ranger products too: inkssentials stuff and perfect pearls and... ok, i'll shut up now... lol... now, i just need to find homes for it all when it gets here...

Glad you're enjoying the class, but sorry the foster is still there Crisann. Hopefully soon. Your shopping spree sounds interesting I think I might have to go check that class out myself.

kris - well, like i said: crossing my fingers, but trying not to get my hopes up... hmm, challenge? what's that? lol... i'd forgotten all about that. i've made quite the mess, though. i've decided that i'm just a messy "artist." no matter what i'm working on, it ends up everywhere...

as far as my shopping spree, i really need cut it out - like seriously, i got big-time "yelled at" for that one. some people just don't understand. i told s/o that he needs to find a hobby - something to do while i sit in my room and play w/ paper & paint, b/c if he doesn't, there're going to be some serious issues around here. trust me on that one!

My DH doesn't understand the fascination with paper either, but after this long I just get the ol' eyeroll and he moves on.

I have had to embrace the fact that I'm a messy scrapper as well. I can't admit that I just have too stuff I had a make a bunch of shower invites for my sister and my room is TRASHED!!! I have to make a point of actually putting stuff away this week so I can move onto something else. I just picked up a bunch of pictures from Costco I'm always most inspired to scrap with a brand new set of pictures!!

QOTW: Clothing Labels

5 more weeks left. I am feeling the stress of everything not fitting back in the room in a spacious way. I guess I should have gotten rid of more stuff!

Hanging in here until the end,

j*scraps - i so get that... i determined a long time ago that i either need a larger studio or i need to deal with the "mess," because getting rid of things isn't an option.

J scraps - that's my issue exactly!! I think more of the mess is from me pulling a million things out to get to the one thing I wanted in the first place. ugh.

Back to the drawing board I think .... the mess is what turns me off scrapbooking. I don't mind the creative mess, but it's the piles of crap I have to pull out first that are annoying!

Waving hello from the land of exhaustion from moving! I have my designated room . . . my computer and one futon couch inhabit it currently. All of my scrapping stuff is at the old house. Needless to say I am not caught up w/ the challenges at all, but know where to start! A bunch of my scrapping stuff was organized as I boxed it up . . . more still needs to be done.

QOTW: Craziest thing would have to be the deer fur that was stuck in the front of our motor home when I hit two deer in Spanish Fork Canyon, UT. I did a scrapbook page and put the fur in a clear memorabilia pocket. Yep, I was driving after 7 hours and 350 miles, and just about 10 minutes from I-10. Took at the scene photos and after photos at the body shop. It was traumatic for me cuz it was my first big purchase w/ DH.

OK back to reality and unpacking more house stuff, china cabinet here I come.

kris - no doubts! there are just some things i have yet to find a good way to organize... ahem, paper being number one on that list. some things, like stickles and inks and such like that are fine just tossed into a basket.

oh, and when i did all my shopping, i created even more work for myself. i keep accumulating new categories of supplies...

Hi galls,

Boy do I know what you are going trough. I knew I had alot of stuff and I save almost everything. It's so hard to get rid of your stuff.
That's why, when I was planning my room I did not go for the realy, realy, realy cute table that would realy make my room look like a picture outof a magazine, because I knew that then my stuff would never fit in my room (it's pretty small). But I went for practical and got a long kitchen work table with lots of cabinets. I also knew I am a messy person so I wanted most of my stuff out of sight. I have no regrets so far that I made the decision to go for practical.
So my advice would be look at the fact's about your stuff, how you scrap and your budget and see what you can do.
Go for it girls, I know the solutions will come to you. And if not you can alway's start the challange all over.... (just kidding)

My memorabilia is comming along, I descided to go for the ringbinder and the file folders (one for every family member). I just put it in for now, still need to make categories so I can find what I need/have more easy.

crisann, Agreed, "getting rid of stuff is not an option!" LOL

pitje, Yours is the voice of reason! I like your advice to go for practical. "...look at the fact's about your stuff, how you scrap and your budget and see what you can do."

I just need to get back to thinking it through. I was so motivated at the beginning. Now I need to develop new habits of working with the new way the stuff is organized.

Crisann - I do the same thing. Paper in CH's, Stickles in a basket, paint in another ... My problem is if I want to get at something, say paint. I have to move the basket of stickles, a bin of embelishments, and a pile of magazines to get to it first. So before I even have my creative mess I have a bunch of stuff all over my floor.

Short of another major purge, I'm not sure what else I can do Good point J scraps!! Maybe I just need to rethink how I scrap vs how much much of a mess I make when I scrap.

Pitje - Very solid reasoning. I don't have necessarily the prettiest storage things, mine are mostly plastic so I get an idea of shape and size. My issue is also I have a very small room, the desk is actually my DS's and will be moving upstairs once I find a replacement.

Hi All -- a newbie here (for the organizing challenge, anyway).

I really haven't been doing the challenge. Yet.

I really have been pretty happy with my space. But DH isn't. He also isn't too happy with my closet, which is where I tend to store all my memorabilia and an abundance of scrap stuff I haven't yet put away (he doesn't know about the trunk of my car.... shhhhh....).

I finally have to admit that I just have ALOT of stuff. But I'm glad to hear others out there not willing to admit that it is TOO MUCH!!!

Memorabilia is a big problem for me. I dread going through it all. I KNOW I will not want to get rid of a single thing. Now I can sort, separate, label and organize all day long. It's the purging that kills me. Especially sentimental stuff. But I know it MUST be done. Please wish me luck. I'm going to just jump right in this week. I think I'm going to need some support. TIA

Sorry Ihave been absent...but not forgotten you!!! The end of school year and sports is killing me!!!

I am writing my blog now for last week, and I am pretending this week isn't here. I will not get to memorobelia until I ship my kids to their grandparents for summer vacation. Five year olds and 13 years of...memories don't necessarilly mesh.

QOTW: My elusive middle child's stitches that he got on Girl Friday's 1st birthday.

Hang in there, scrappin bee.

Enjoy your summer with your kids while you can. Scrapping will always be there, and you have to get out there and make those memories before they are all grown up!

Scrappin bee wins as the craziest memorabilia, did you keep the actual stitches?

Welcome to newbie, and cheering on Kris74 and all to the finish,

So I went on a Copic binge I had a gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket. Problem is, they don't fit with my pens so I have to rethink that ... ugh it never ends!

Good to see you scrappinbee. I agree - memorabilia is the one thing I need to spread out. I may not get to mine until school is back in come September!!

I've fallen off the wagon for the last few weeks. My dad fell over the neighbors pet goose and broke his hip. I know, it sounds odd. He changed the story a bit once he was at the hospital to being attacked by an aligator.

Anyway, I've been behind. Hope everyone is doing great and continues the organization. Although I have changed a few things along the way, I still am keeping up with the "everything in it's place" theory. Hopefully, I can take a day next week and play catch up.

As far as memorabilia, I keep events in 2 gallon zip lock baggies. It may be labeled as a trip to "---" , or just summer of 2010.

Nantini - Sorry to hear about your dad!! Love that he changed the story from a goose to an alligator!! hahaha
I like your idea re the giant ziploc bags ...

But what about things for smaller scaled events?? Say birthday cards or concert tickets?? Or would those go into generic summer of 2010 bags??

Maybe I'm starting to overthink all this clutter ...

Glad your back Nantini and scrappnBee, you where missed it seemed suddenly there are much less people to 'talk' too and get advise from.
I think more of us have fallen of the wagon.... Where are you guy's I miss you!
And a special welcome to our newbie.

Kris, the desk thing is actualy a great opportunity for you to re think some things and make the changes you need, I think. (maybe some deep drawers (like my ikea kitchen ones)could be the answer to your problem???, then you can reach everyting easily)
Oh and my smaller memorabilia like cards and tickets go in page maps for photo's, 1 page has room for four photo's on each side of the page (so 8 in total).

Angel: good luck moving it all in and hang in there

scrappnbee: EEEKKK stiches, never would have tought to keep those...

There hasn't been an act of God to remove/sort the memorablia so I'm working on it.

I have it sorted by year and project at this point. I've managed to pitch about half of it.

Project items, like DH's business travel/touring/shopping stuff, are moved into 12x12 clear plastic cases - with labels. I'm working on making kits for the 'projects' - Hawaii, Wedding ... (this might take all summer) I'm optimistic that I when this is done I can use the Popsicle stick idea and start tackling some of these. I do on average 5 pages a week so once the mess is cleaned up I should be able to get through the major projects pretty quickly.

For General Stuff: It's sorted by year (labeled) in 1 gallon zip locks and back into one cardboard box, though, not necessarily 1 bag per year. When a 'Current Project' is finished, I will look at this again. At the moment I'm thinking that I will move one year at a time into the project box.

I have no idea if this will work for getting things used or not but at least when I find more hidden stuff it will have a home.
