you get an exclusive cart a quarter, the first one is french manor. some discounts, access to exclusive content and an exclusive circlet board. nothing really earth shattering. I think I saw something about access to new stuff first as well. rebates on carts too.

So you are basically paying full price to get an exclusive cart, wow that is pretty expensive, considering I have yet to pay half of that for a regular cart. |

You get
- Four exclusive cartridges a year
- Special buying privileges like rebates, monthly coupons, and opportunities to buy other exclusive products
- Extra reward points & cricut.com discounts
- Special Forum
- Charm Braclet with Cricut Charm
- Webinars, Meetups, Events
- Blog & On-Line Magazin Access
- Opportunity to become part decision on future products
The price was a bit of a surprise to me - I don't know what I was expecting but wasn't expecting that much I suppose (but then again didn't know what all it would include either).
I don't know if I will join or not - I must admit that I am thinking about it though - I mean 4 (full price) cartridges would be about that same cost (though I never pay full price) but they are exclusive to members only so that is a draw to me - I also like that you don't have to pay all at once but you can pay quarterly. I'm going to think about it a day or two before deciding.

I'm sure there will be. It's pretty competitive on the Cricut MB about who gets what cart first
I'm guessing since I haven't bothered registering my E, my Gypsy or half my cartridges I will not be getting an invite

Basically, it works out to $70 for each of the 4 cartridges you get. Then the rest of the stuff...newsletter, message boards, etc...is free. Without actually seeing the cartridges in advance, that's waaaaay too big of a risk for me. I could buy about 10 cartridges that I LOVE for that price.

I guess if folks decide it's worth it and join, it's just as well I can't really afford it, because they probably wouldn't be the same gals who run in my 'circles', LOL. I run in circles trying to get the most I can for my poor old dollar. I run in circles to make sure all my scrappy friends feel included in anything I do. I run in circles to have the best time I can, not to exclude people. Feels like I won't be the most popular girl in high school again, LOL.
As for the bracelet, that's just really not something I'd be wearing to an executive staff meeting at work, I'd think.
This is just how I feel. (insert capital I). If you do decide to join, that's great for you, just not my thing. Enjoy! |

My feeling is the "exclusive" cartridges and the charm bracelet will appear on ebay in no time - most likely from Provocraft masquerading as an ordinary e-bay seller (or sellers).
I get the feeling PC expects they will "get" us one or another.
No thanks, PC. I'll spend my dollars more wisely.

I can't believe Provo Craft thinks this is a good business decision. I love my Cricut Create, but I'm very frugal and very selective of what type of cartridges I purchase. There are tons of Cricut idea websites and blogs and I can't imagine anyone joining to have an exclusive charm bracelet. I would personally like to see more less expensive cartridges than some silly club.

The exclusive charm bracelet thing is totally cracking me up. I mean really? I'm picturing those little friendship bracelets that come in the quarter machine outside the grocery store, where you keep one and give one to your BFF..........just seems so juvenile.
For $275, that thing better be sterling silver at the VERY least.

yes for $275 yearly or $80 quarterly you get an exclusive cartridge.
so for the yearly cost it makes it about $68 a cartridge. you get 4 cartridges |

I think it's funny that they're hawking it as a "unity" builder. "The shape of the circle signifies inclusion, unity, kinship." I think it's more like the shape of the circle signifies coin, lots of it. I won't be investing in 4 carts I must take sight unseen.

I got the invitation and I clicked the link because I was curious as to the price. Of course you have to create an account to see that information. I didn't create an account, but I'm glad I found out the price here.
That price is insane! It's not clear, but to me it sounds like you only get the privilege of buying the exclusive cartridges. They are available to members only. I wouldn't pay that price even if it did include the cartridges.
Even if they are fantastic cartridges, there are enough that I love without paying for the privilege to purchase them. And as far as a Cricut community goes, there are enough blogs and message boards for free to get ideas from.
Although you do get a nifty membership certificate... Hmmm
ETA: After reading more about what you see after you log in, I guess I'm wrong about having to pay additionally for the exclusive cartridges. It seems that they are included and you get them quarterly. It's still not for me though. Even with the extra reward points, I can't even find something now that I want with my points.

This link to a blog was posted on the other thread about the Cricut circle: link
If you scroll down a bit, you see more information including the pricing and the benefits. It kind of looks like you get the 4 cartridges, but it's kind of vague about it. It says you get the French Manor cart with the welcome kit, then it just says that the other 3 will be released quarterly. I'm not interested either way, but you'd think that if all 4 were included in the price, they'd make a bigger deal about that.

Insane!
Seriously? $275 for a charm and 4 unknown cartridges. Woah. I'll be curious to see how this pans out, but I seriously doubt even for people with money to burn will think this is not a very good risk. What if you hate the cartridges? Then you have to hassle selling them on eBay? No thanks.
I recently listened to one of those podcasts..PaperClipping Round table or something and they were 'mistified' about why there was so much negative chatter about this. I felt they were being pretty condescending about the whole thing.

I never thought it would be THAT much!! I have no doubt the carts and bracelet will be on eBay. Probably for a lot at first, then they will go down. Just like all the older, original QK I always wanted SO BAD but couldn't afford on eBay like the apple core, tooth fairy, original stork, whale, seagull, lighthouse, etc. I finally got them REALLY CHEAP in the last few months on eBay. Worth the wait! |

My first reaction is "oh heck no". But I'm never saying never since the French Manor cart looks cute. While I've never paid close to full price for a cart, I've seen popular discontinued ones go for for a lot of money on Ebay.
Before I join I need to know:
*Are the carts included in the price?
*Are they "full" carts?
*Are the events free?
*ARE THEY GOING TO GIVE MY INFO TO "PARTNERS"? As it is, my email box is crammed full of stuff I did not ask for thanks to the CHA Super Show giving out my info. Scrapbook Expo has never given out my email to their "partners". If PC wants to give my info to "partners", then we're back to a polite, but firm "no" to their invite. |

Those of us that own Cricuts, the Gypsy and tons of cartridges have made a huge investment of their products and I cannot for the life of me see why they insist on making special cartridges for special things...we should all have access to every cartridge without any hitches.

Does anyone else think it is funny/ironic that PC is trying to hock thesze $80 full price, pay upfront sight unseen carts at the same time the new $39 carts are coming out at WalMart? Bad planning. Stupid publicity campaign. I'll be happy to buy French Manor when I see it on ebay for $39........which probably won't take more than 6 months.

well here's another thought for you. since they recycle the cart images so often are they REALLY going to be able to resist using these things on other cartridges in the future???
I'm wondering if they will finally release those solutions cartridges like Euro Decor (and that "missing" bath & kitchen one) AFTER the club carts ship?? why else would Euro Decor still be on the CDS software updates? Why wouldn't they just remove it?
Also I posted this on pink cricut and I'll share here too since I think their pricing is just too outlandish. this really spells out just how greedy they are becoming with the amount of money they are making off of these cartridges.
another missed opportunity. Imagine how many people would have joined if the carts were $40 (and we KNOW they sell new releases through their phantom shops for $39.99 right away). That would be $160 a year. even $180/$45 a piece would have been ok. close to what we pay for most kit clubs. Still reasonable and we are still taking a risk that they may release cartridges that we don't like if we sign up.
Plus, they are making FULL retail on these. it's not like they are distributing them to another store (like Walmart) at a fraction of the MSRP.
In order for them to make this much off customers they'd have to retail these cartridges for (at min!) $136 at your LSS.
