DD's post makes me think of when Stacy posted something about our men and woman in uniform following the So, There incident. Deflection instead of introspection, pretty much the poster children of megalomaniacs. When their egos start to eat themselves, I wanna be there to watch.

After Lisa slapped David, she said, "I had to take the opportunity!" in a real snotty way. I really liked Lisa until that day.

On the QVC blog post Lisa said something like, "David and I were just being silly and I playfully hit him" like it wasn't a big deal. But David said something like, "Lisa apologized and I've forgiven her" eluding to the fact that he wasn't happy about it.

Major fail on her part in attempting to be silly or playful, I guess. Major fail.

Your requirements for major fail aren't very high.

They had a brother/sister kind of chemistry for years on the show. I've never understood why this little tap (I don't remember it as a true slap) is made to sound like she punched him in the face with the intent to cause harm.

They goofed around every show they were ever on. This time, she slapped him. Big deal.

That doesn't even register as a minor jiggle on my Fail-O-Meter scale.

I could also say your requirements for professionalism aren't very high. I get that they were playful with each other but I wouldn't want to be slapped on live TV in front of countless viewers and I'd bet the vendors and producers weren't too happy with her playfulness. IMO it's disrespectful, playful or not. Not cringe-worthy disrespectful, but still disrespectful and unprofessional. Save the horseplay for behind the scenes. If it wasn't a big deal to David then I'm guessing there wouldn't have been any need for Lisa to apologize, for David to accept it, and for him to post about it for all the viewers to see.

First of all,

that apron is ugly.

I mean, is "hot gluing" what passes for a teachable technique these days?

If I had an unlimited supply of free Prima flowers, that apron would NOT have taken me 3 days...just saying.

Now replace her overdone "inspire" with "turd" and it has possibility...

LOVE the comments on her blog. Wonder how long it will take her to notice them.

Does she even do her own blog posts?

Touche!

No. It was very unprofessional behavior.

However, I actually used to watch these shows, and while they were selling items, they were never coldly professional doing so. David and Lisa goofed around every single time they were together.

Professional? Maybe not. Successful sellers? Definitely so.

There are so many things that I find truly despicable in business that by comparison, this just is nothing to me.

It's just my opinion. Obviously, many others disagree with me.

ETA -

If it wasn't a big deal to David then I'm guessing there wouldn't have been any need for Lisa to apologize, for David to accept it, and for him to post about it for all the viewers to see.

Except for the fact that message boards are Still talking about it.... and he may have been trying to tell everyone that it really is much ado about little.

I can understand not liking their presentations because they were too goofy. I happened to like them. Doesn't matter a whit now, since they are no more.

Major fail on her part in attempting to be silly or playful, I guess. Major fail.

I thought she seemed very brittle and shrill that night, more so than usual both before and after the slap. Either she was under a lot of stress, not getting enough sleep, or something.

The slap was definitely a slap, not a tap, David was visibly shocked by it, and I honestly don't get thinking it wasn't any big deal.

Also, if David were trying to play it down, he would have said that Lisa apologized and he rejected her apology, as no apology was required. But he didn't. He accepted her apology and he publicized that he accepted it. It WAS needed. She was totally out of line, for whatever reason.

I don't think the whole thing was the end of the world or anything, but it was very, very weird for an industry professional with so many years of experience at the top under her belt.

oh and another thing ... I don't think they were ever the kind of really good friends that they liked to pretend they were on the show. I once saw him say something to her about "when you have a cup of coffee." She responded, through gritted teeth, "I don't drink coffee."

That is such a basic thing you would learn early on about someone you're friends with. If they really hang around together backstage, he's gonna know she doesn't drink coffee.

I always thought that part was BS they made up, just because the audience liked them together and there was some chemistry between them.

I agree that I don't think they were really friends--David and Lisa and also that she seemed particularly on edge that night. It was not nothing, nor was it catastrophic, but just another example of unprofessionalism.

I think part of the issue is that scrapbooking bills itself as this warm and fuzzy industry, all about recording memories of cute babies and puppies, etc. Then when something happens to question that---Sharon being sick and asking to sell her ticket---they suddenly pull the 'it's a business card' and say no. When called out on that, and told it is not good business sense or professionalism to act that way, they flip back to the warm and fuzzy, cut me a break I am just a struggling woman like you mentality. You just can't have it both ways. I am sure someone can phrase this better than I just did, but hopefully you get the idea.

Wow. You are so right. I remember more now that you've described it. She *did* seem brittle and shrill.

I wonder if she had just found out that QVC was cutting out ALL crafts? That was a really big gig for her company and for the industry.

I agree that Lisa was totally out of line, regardless of how hard or soft her slap was or whether she was teasing or not - or even just momentarily out of line and under stress.

Still doesn't jiggle my meter.

I kind of saw it as a cheap shot and a double standard. If it was David who slapped Lisa, he probably would have lost his job and it would have been a HUGE mess. I don't like when people hit others, even in a "playful" way and I just lost my respect for Lisa that day.

Her explanation also really turned me off. I think it would have been better if she would have said, "I was not thinking when I slapped David and I am sorry that I did it" but she kind of just brushed over it like it wasn't a big deal.

They goofed around every show they were ever on. This time, she slapped him. Big deal.

She didn't slap him, she just high-fived his face

Is that supposed to be the page 11 version of "ENOUGH" ?

Since it's a message board and only fingers are involved, I think we all pass the kaka-free mouth check.

And page 11 -- since when have I been such an under-estimator.

I guess I should be clearer...
DD should not let KAKA run from her mouth...because you can always tell who let the stink

better?

OMG, I had the QVC program taped when the LB slapgate went down. We were discussing it on the mb and a bunch of peas asked if they could see it so I videotaped it. I checked my computer and I still have it! LOL.

C'mon! You have to post it for all the peas who never saw it!! It was memorable, and they deserve to see it too.

Not defending DD by any means, but honest question.

What exactly are people expecting her to do, say, act, to make this whole situation better today?

Change refund policy? Go out of business? Confess and atone? Contact Sharon again?

Actually, I think it would be nice if Sharon and Kathy got to go to Inspired all expenses paid together, to honor the original plan and celebrate Sharon coming through her ordeal.

I'm sure that would seem like payoff to some, but to me, about the only controllable save DD has at this point with the peas.

Speaking for myself, I don't want her to do anything. The time for that is long past. I just think it's important that people know what kind of person they are dealing with.

I think the video was originally on YouTube but QVC pitched a fit and got YouTube to take it down.

I agree. I also think its one thing to post here and snicker, but entirely another to run her down on her own blog and type a bunch of crap. Smacks of cyber bullying to me and I think its mean girl bullshit at this point.

Kathy, in between all the turd posts was your post about the beer. I'm appalled she had the nerve to do that. Really? A six pack of BEER under your seat?

I'm sorry but that was passive-aggressive bullshit right there. Wow.

I wonder if the QVC execs. had something to say to Lisa after the slap...I noticed that later in the day she definitely didn't seem like she was in the best mood...

I completely missed Slapgate. I had no idea it even happened, until I read about it in this thread. Where was I? LOL. Katy? A little help here?
