Gosh I love a 10 pager

I was offended. First off, I don't drink beer Secondly, I had asked her to join me for a drink, not give me one during a class for Pete sakes! That was rude IMO.
Yeah, she really pulled out the claws on that one. I would have been mortified. And I would have thrown it in the garbage in front of her.

I did not get the vibe from her that she was humbled by this experience at all.

Based on other people's experiences with dd and dd's own comments on the thread last year, I'm not at all surprised that she didn't learn anything. So, just like everybody said at the time, her "life lesson" apology on her blog last year was just a bunch of hot air.

Kathy: the six-pack story is too funny. Maybe DD thought it was just a brew-haha.

I am one of those folks who believes in boycotts and takes a stand with my wallet. It doesn't matter if I am a one-person boycott or some of the companies could care less (or would that be couldn't care less? whatever). I use my dollars wisely and vote with my purse. I will gladly pay more for good customer service. After all, the associated customer service is the most visible difference in most products, isn't it?

I worked for an extremely large beverage company based in the southern-US. They have been in business since the 1800's and continue to be in business today. While employed there I was taught that people weren't buying the beverage: they were buying the way the beverage made them feel. It was all about the memories and the stories, not the soda. The DD debacle might have occured awhile ago, but that yucky feeling will linger on for years.

That's what DD doesn't get. If people feel icky about spending their hard-earned dollars with her, whether it's $1.25 or $615.00, the price is not important. A pleased customer might tell one or two other people. A displeased customer is 1,000 times more powerful than a happy one. The scrapworld is small, the internet truly is a worldwide web, and the peaboard really is the most entertaining place I've ever been.

C'mon 10 pages: is it Thrusday yet?

Does anybody remember the videos that were on her blog from some scrap event that she was chatting with Cathy Z and Ali Edwards where she said, "Ali can say "toast" and the people will follow." Or something like that.....it was in reference to how popular Ali is and can say some mundane word that gets all the scrap followers to follow along. Like "life artist" and how that became a scrap term.

I don't really remember the details other than it was a big deal at the time too. It rubbed me the wrong way about DD. It reminded me of the popular table at the middle school cafeteria.

Okay - you got me.......and I never post.

Took some classes with DD last year....she has no qualms about obliquely bad-mouthing other 'scrapstars'....I got the distinct impression that it's done out of a need to show she's better...def. some self-esteem issues / megalomanical issues with that one.

That said, I do plan to take a couple of classes with her this year. I do like some of her stuff and some of her prima products....herself, not so much.

My point was it was a year ago, and that I didn't see the purpose in rehashing all the old arguments when we all agree it was wrong. Given that, the horse is dead, let's stop beating it. Let sleeping dogs lie.

I just don't think it's health to keep reliving the past this way. I think it stops being cathartic and starts to be masochistic.

So when the OP asked what happened, imo, the thing to do was privately send her the link to the original thread and not rehash what all those who were around then know - Donna made a mistake, both in her handling of Sharon's situation, and in her participation (as well as allowing Kandi's participation) on the original thread her last year.

well MY motivation was to make sure other scrappers find out about this debacle.. and I was happy to see that on the thread over on the GS board that I posted to a few days ago. A few scrappers came and posted that they had NO idea dd had done that, had acted in that manner, and that NOW that they know they won't be sending any more business her way.

Money talks.

THAT is why I didn't send any stupid private messages to the OP when she asked - I'm putting it ALLLL out there in the name of full disclosure. The more scrappers who know, the better choices they can make. Do I expect everyone to boycott dd as I have?? ABsolutely not! (as evidenced by k8 above still admitting to taking dd's courses -- comeon k8, jump on the bandwagon! <--- i kid, i kid)

But, if I do relay the story and it influences ONE other scrapper to change her mind, I am totally ok with that. Dare I say I'm even HAPPY about that? Yes, I think I do.

So I say ENOUGH with the handslapping Tang. We have every right to inform other scrap consumers just what kind of business dd is running.

Yes, I remember that! Supposedly they were all at some event and playing on CZ's computer, I believe...

And as to the beer.... I find that really passive-aggressive!

I was cropping in a store recently and DD was doing a class there that night. She came in early to work through the day and she was a complete and total snob. I made polite conversation but I didn't let on that I knew who she was, which I'm sure drove her nuts. I was so tempted to mention this incident to her (and moreover, to the store owner) but I refrained. I did not get the vibe from her that she was humbled by this experience at all.
You're a better person than me, Miss Jen--I would have mentioned the incident to the store owner, mayber even with DD standing there.

I know that when the owner of the store where we shop heard about the incident and reviewed the 2Peas' thread herself, she stopped carrying DD's products.

I was trying to think of exactly why the beer thing would have bothered me...and then there it was:

The beer under the table exactly reminds me of when that happened to my friend. It just sounds like a snotty way of saying, "I don't want to have drinks with you, but I know I have to acknowledge the commitment somehow."

Me, too. And, while others might enjoy a six-pack, I think the six-pack was a jab too. Like she picked it up as an afterthought at the 7-Eleven on the corner. Even a bottle of wine in a nice sleeve would have been a bit more tasteful...

If I'd known that DD was coming well enough in advance, I would have let the owner know. But as it was I didn't know until that day, and people had already made plans and paid, and supplies had already been purchased, so it wouldn't have done any good.

I love the posts on DD's blog- you guys are bold!

But I can't be the only one who realllllllly wants to hear the story of when LB slapped David Venable on QVC

Sharon didn't just ask for a refund, she had another person who wanted to buy her spot, but DD didn't allow transfers.

I'll contribute to this epic, just a little.

I wonder who advises these scraputantes, but they get it so wrong. Can you imagine -- at CKU you had to show your driver's license when you picked up your class schedule. Like it's a freaking airline checkin.

I'll confess. I went to several CKUs. I hooted and hollered when I won something. I pulled an enormous suitcase full of scrap supplies so I would have every color of Chatterbox snaps close at hand.

LB and CZ emphasized the memory keeping, but they signed contracts with vendors to get sponsors. And the vendors had crappy projects -- most of which I left in my hotel room.

It got very old. It was a phase and I'm glad I'm over it.

Still waiting for DD.

Like coat hangers they multiplied, under the bed I think until they were threatening to take over that precious space that we all covet and refuse to cede to other family members. Thus I became PunchPrincess. )

The ugliness we see in others is nothing but a reflection of ourselves.

No it isn't. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. But then again, I hate trite saying that we're supposed to swallow as enlightened truth just because it's in print.

The ugliness I see in Hitler, is NOT a reflection of myself.

I was watching QVC when Lisa Bearnson slapped David Venable but I was in and out of the room and caught a glimpse of what happened right after the slap. I never knew until now what led up to it.

It was last night right after they presented the TSV. He was stating that all of the paper craft items in the show were brand new. Then he said to Lisa B., "give me a high-five". She does and then for some reason, she slaps him. I have no clue where that came from. He didn't miss a beat through. He said he didn't expect to get slapped and asked for a cold compress.

That's from televisionwithoutpity.com.
Major fail on her part in attempting to be silly or playful, I guess. Major fail.

I was about to post on there, but just a heads up to Ashley, if you mouse over your "Anon" posting, it gives your name in the typepad addy...so..... not so Anon

I knew it wasn't annonymous - I had to put my email on there...I'm not too concerned though - she can know my name, no skin off my back.

The ugliness we see in others is nothing but a reflection of ourselves.

I believe she has that skewed. Mirroring has the capability for us to see our own flaws, but recognizing the flaws in others to help those who might fall into their trap is different than seeing the flaw and looking at our own lives to be sure we are NOT mirroring those same flaws.

If I see a bank robbery taking place and call the police to apprehend said offender/s, I can see the offenders actions as offensive without saying I would do the same thing.

Double dipping is not a whole lot different than robbing a bank...it just gets by legally, but morally, it is just flat out wrong.

So on DD's blog - she has that quote and then she says,

"this quote struck me, i wanted to feel defensive when i read it, but then realized, you know what...it is so true!"

So, she finally looked in the mirror at herself???
