Sandy (colourful) kindly sent me a word document of how she put together the SOF08 event's master thread for which I'll be forever grateful. I did change the original document so if you see errors here, please let me know. If you want to thank someone for the organization, track down Sandy!

Welcome to Stamptoberfest 2010!

This year's Stamptoberfest will run from Saturday, October 2 through Sunday, October 17. That will give working Peas three full weekends to play. After that, Hangover Week Challenges will begin on Monday the 18th for those who just did not get enough during Stamptoberfest!

If you're new to our board, here are links to our previous events so you can get an idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, the links in the oldest threads are no longer operable, but you can still see the Master Threads and get ideas. They are a part of our history so I'm including them:

Worldwide Stamping Weekend 2007
Stamptoberfest 2007
WinterStamp 2008
Worldwide Stamping Week 2008
Stamptoberfest 2008
Winterfest 2009
Stamptoberfest 2009
Winterfest 2010

DETAILS ABOUT HOW OUR EVENTS WORK

1. Opening Day is Saturday, October 2. On Thursday, September 30 and Friday, October 1, hosts and hostesses will post their challenge threads and blog posts giving the details for participating in their challenges. Even if the host has indicated a theme beforehand, be sure to check the challenge thread for complete instructions. Don't start early! Wait for the last-minute directions. (Some hosts will be adding a twist to their instructions to be sure you do not start ahead!) This Master Thread will have links to both the challenge threads AND blog posts.
2. Upload your work to the stamping gallery. If you are new to posting, see the end of this original post for instructions.
3. Be sure to check the correct boxes under Member Challenges when you post. If you do this, your piece is automatically linked to the blog post.
4. Do not link to projects completed previously; we want to see your new creations!
5. A single project may apply to multiple challenges unless the host/ess says otherwise in his/her instructions. Deborah (Gram-pea) is still the champion of combining challenges.
6. Throughout the week, keep an eye on the stamping board for chatty challenges (some with RAKs) that might appear during SOF10!
7. You can start uploading projects once Two Peas has the checkboxes available in the Member Challenges section. Two Peas is located in the CST Time Zone so the check boxes will open and close according to that time zone. (When you post to the gallery, look for that link and see if SOF10 items are listed. If not, you're too early.)
8. Ask questions! During the event we will have a Trouble-shooting Thread, but feel free to ask things here for right now.

HINTS AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Click on the magnifying glass below this thread's title to add it to your watch list. Then you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

Here's a Trouble-Shooting Thread. If your question isn't answered in the how-to sections below, post your questions and frustrations there. I hope everyone will check in from time to time to answer questions.

Posting Links in Blog, Message Board, and Gallery

Broken or Missing Links: How to Find What You're Looking For

How to Find The List of Blogs Offering Challenges

In Case of a Two Pea Outage: Save the blog entries to the challenges that interest you the most on your computer. That way you'll have the instructions if Two Peas becomes overwhelmed with the increased traffic caused by our event. We sometimes lose contact with Two Peas on Opening Day for a little while. Just keep checking back. If you have saved some of the challenges, you'll be able to work on them while waiting for the board to revive. During our most recent events, Two Peas worked perfectly.

ABOUT POSTING A CHALLENGE IN YOUR BLOG

Don't let the word blog scare you away. We're not talking about a BLOG with all the bells and whistles. We're talking about a little blog. We all have one here on Two Peas. Posting there is much the same as posting in a thread.
1. At the top of the screen, just above the big title that says Message Board is a row that starts out with the word MY followed by the words Account, Content, Blog, etc. Click on Blog.
2. Put in the title of your Challenge. Begin with the letters SOF10. That way all Winterfest Challenge Boxes will be together, and participants will be able to find them easily.
3. The next line says Post Type. Click on the down arrow, and select Challenge.
4. After selecting Challenge, another line will open up. This is where you put the starting date (10/02/2010) and the ending date (10/17/2010) . Actually, when you go to the blank space to input the date, a calendar will open up and you can just click on the correct date. Note: It's never too late to start a challenge so if you get an idea for a challenge in the middle of Stamptoberfest, go ahead and post it. You can also post a challenge for just a day or two; just change the dates accordingly.
5. Now, in the box under "Post Content," just write out your challenge. If the board is slow, wait for the Content Box to open. Start out with the opening and closing dates because the dates you just submitted only tell Two Peas when to open and close your challenge's checkbox. The people reading your challenge won't see those dates.
6. If you posted samples in the gallery, you can link them here. Also it's a good idea to put in a link to your challenge thread.
7. When you post your challenge thread on the message board, include a link to your blog. Use the URL for your challenge, not for the opening page of the blog. If you are in the right place, you'll see "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." right above the box with your message. If you don't see that message, then click on the title of your challenge to take you to that page.

EXAMPLE: Prospurring's Challenge Blog
Anne also confirmed how to post a named link in the blog:
"For the links in the blog entry, you have to highlight the text, and then click on what looks like (to me at least) a car in front of a globe. A pop-up window appears. You type in the URL and click OK."

ABOUT POSTING IN THE GALLERY

1. To post your project, put your cursor over MEMBER GALLERY at the top of the screen (below the Two Peas logo). Select the option UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT.
2. Follow the step-by-step directions.
3. Give your project a title. For Stamptoberfest 2010, put SOF10 at the start of your title and include the name of the challenge. For example, SOF10: Serendipity Challenge.
4. In Step 2, describe your project in the comments section. If possible, include the source of your stamps. Tell what coloring medium and technique you used.
5. Also in Step 2, be sure to change the Project Type from "layout" to "stamping" so that your project will end up in the right place.
6. In Step 4, be sure to click the correct box for the challenge or challenges you are entering. That way your post will automatically show up on the challenge blog/blogs.
7. If you need to edit your post after submitting it, you'll find the edit button in the sidebar to the left of your screen when you are viewing the gallery post.
8. Once you have posted your project in the Stamping Gallery, go to the challenge thread and post a link to your gallery post; this will put the challenge thread back to the top of the board and assure that it doesn't drop out of sight. This step will keep the challenge threads circulating. The Challenge Thread is also the place to ask questions and to chat with other participants about the challenge.

**EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA**

Check out Welcome to Stamping Month to see what Two Peas has planned for stampers during October. It includes three challenges and some great news!

CHALLENGES

Hosts and Hostesses: I will post your challenge here as I find out about them. Let me know if I should delete or add your name. If you have a theme in mind or supplies and tools people will need to participate in your challenge, let me know and I'll add them to this list. You can leave a message on this thread. Remember you don't have to offer a RAK in order to host a challenge.

It's never too late to post a challenge. If you decide you'd like to post one for just a day or two or half-way through the week, go ahead and post it. Leave a message on this thread with a link if you can, and I'll add it to the list as soon as I see it.

Participants: Be sure to check the discussion threads and blogs for complete details on each challenge.

My apologies to anyone who has been trying to look at this. I accidentally started out with the Winterfest '09 thread instead of the Winterfest '10 thread. Then I wondered why everything was so close together and difficult to read. I went back and kept making changes. So if you clicked on this thread more than once, you saw different, changing versions. No, you were not seeing things.

Perfect, Anne. Brilliant minds think alike. I've been thinking that this would make a good challenge. I'm glad you're doing it.

Neysa has also named her challenge: Vintage Christmas Card Challenge.

I'll be away from the computer for most of today, but I'll check back this evening.

One week to go until Opening Day!

We can start posting our challenges on Thursday and Friday.

I'm visiting family today, but I'll check in to see if there are any new challenges to add to the Master Thread when I return. All you have to do is name your challenge. Don't give away the details until Thursday or Friday.

Actually, you don't even have to name your challenge; I'm not going to name mine until I post them. You can just indicate that you'd like to host one.

If you've never posted a challenge, let me tell you that it's fun!

Daria-did you see the new page banner for the Updated Challenge page? I was wondering if you could put a Stamptoberfest announcement there?

Is Jamie getting us some blinkie announcements for our blogs?...as well as the buttons?

With fear and trepedation I will host a blog. I wanted to do it, then thought I wasn't going to have enough time to work on it, but then thought I would do one called "Clean and Simple." I know it's been done before, but don't see it here yet. Will put details on the blog and hopefully will get a chance to do that after church today.

**** edited. Anne, is that what CASE stands for? If it is I will withdraw my challenge. Sorry.

Hi there I've not been stamping for a while and need a kick up to get some more done. I would love to host a challenge again. Will have a good think and make some samples and come back with more info in a few days, if that is okay?!

I have loved playing along with the previous ones, the challenges are always so motivating.

Mimi,

I just looked up CASE and found Copy and Steal Everything
or Copy and Share everything, so I think your Clean and Simple challenge will not be a repeat, but you can peamail Anne to make sure.

I hope you stick with the challenge. Hosting is a lot of fun! I hosted for the first time during last year's Stamptoberfest. I couldn't wait to see who/what was posted to my challenge. You are half-way there, you came up with the idea for your challenge! I am still debating ...

Welcome aboard!

Mimi, your Clean and Simple Challenge will be great. While Cindi's definitions for CASE are the usual ones; for the purpose of her challenge, Anne is defining it as "Copy and selectively edit" so you are good to go. I'll add the name of the challenge to the Master List.

Suzanne, I'll save your spot. LOL. I'm not revealing my challenges until the last minute. (OK, I'm not too sure of what they will be yet!)

Jan, I'll forward your suggestions to Jamie. Good ideas!

Ah ha! I decided on my challenge.

Don't start it until October 2nd or you may be disappointed, disillusioned, dis-functional, disarrayed ...!! You just don't know what might happen!

The title will be:

Spread a Little Quirkiness!

That's all I'm sayin' for now!

I've added it, Cindi. No worries--with a title like that, I don't think anyone could guess what your challenge could possibly be.

When I logged on a while ago, I saw that I had 19 Pea Mails!!! I'll be back in a while.

Daria

ETA: Those 19 Pea-mails were just two--repeated over and over. The Two-Peas Mail System must have been a bit wonky. When I answered those two Pea-mails, I got an error notice when I clicked on Submit so I clicked on Refresh--just once, and a blank page came up. When I checked the Sent Box, the first e-mail had gone once. So I did the same thing when I responded to the second message. This time when I checked the Sent Box, both e-mails had gone twice. Oh, my gosh, I hope they don't keep multiplying!

Uh oh! I hope all those peamails weren't from me! I kept getting an error message when I submitted peamail so I didn't think they were going through. Of course, I tried, tried again! Aren't you glad you don't have to respond to 19 different emails Daria?! Yikes! Haha! I bet you thought you were really popular today!

Hi Mimi!

Sorry for chiming in so late! But, the earlier posters are correct. For my challenge, CASE stands for "Copy And Selectively Edit" - although it can also stand for "Copy And Steal Everything" or "Copy and Share Everything".

Your "Clean and Simple" challenge doesn't sound like it will conflict ... and it also sounds like a fun one!

Counting the days until we can begin!

Daria I created a temporary blog post so you can post a link. I will just edit it on Friday night by adding the challenge details.
SOA Holiday Kisses web page can be found here.
Daria, thanks for the extra note about the acetate! Do know that any weight of acetate can be used--if you are using packaging scraps that's great just look for a clear piece.

Hope that is enough to keep everyone guessing!

Hi, Kathleen. I just learned how to do that myself. Your card has to be online somewhere, for example, in the Two Peas Gallery.

1. Go to your card and right click on it.
2. Select Properties from the window that opens, and click on that.
3. Put your cursor over the URL address (toward the center of the box) and highlight it.
4. Keeping your cursor over the highlighted address, right click again, and click on Copy from the list that opens up.

OK, almost done.

5. Go to your blog and click Edit. Find the icon for Image. Just move your cursor over the different icons at the top of the page above your message until you find the one that says Image, and click on it.
6. In the window that opens up, put your cursor in the section for the URL; right click again, and this time click on Paste from the list.
7. Either click OK or adjust the size of your card. I had to reduce the size of mine by half.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. It's easier to do than it is to read the directions.

Good luck.

You might want to include links to the three Two Peas challenges linked from the Welcome to Stamping Month at Two Peas blog post. Just for convenience in finding the links. If you want to!

By the way, I am also sponsoring a challenge benefiting charity on my blog, Gaal Creative, during the month of October. Some of the cards and projects you make for Stamptoberfest **might** also qualify for my charity challenge (enter on my blog). Just thought you'd like to know!

Here are my links (I hope I set these up correctly)

I've added my blog post and discussion thread to the forum, however I am so sorry but I haven't got any examples of my own created yet. This week hasn't gone according to plan

Hi, Suzanne! No worries! Glad you're hosting a challenge!

By the way ... here's How to put your Stamping Badges in your Signature. I saw some of the other Stamping Peas doing it ... and I wanted to join in the fun! Took me a time or two to figure it out, so I thought I'd share the how-to!

You guys are the greatest! Look at all those challenges!

Anne, thank you for the link to Stamping Month on the Two Peas Blog. I didn't even know that existed. I added the link to the original thread.

Also, Anne, don't give Suzanne any ideas! Did you see how many badges she has? She'll sink the thread if she puts all of them in her signature! LOL.

Kat, I'm so glad that those instructions worked for you. Someone else posted how to do it on another thread. That's what made me try it for the first time myself. I was working off of memory, and I was so glad when it worked!

Tami, just have fun! You have two full weeks and three weekends so I'm sure you'll be able to fit something in. BTW, did you see the news about Jennifer McGuire posting eight new Thinking Inking Classes? I believe they will be offered on Mondays beginning October 4. I'm so excited about that! Check out that link that Anne posted about Stamping Month; the link is also on the original post on this thread. I'm getting tired, or I'd link it here for you.

Wow! It looks like I discovered Stamping and TwoPeas just in time!!! I'm brand new to the site, and to stamping in general and discovered this wonderful world through the Thinking Inking series that I first saw on YouTube.

I can't wait to get started on these challenges and try out my new hobby!

I'll second that! Welcome new peas and former lurkers, we're glad you're here! And welcome back regulars that we haven't seen in a while! Hooray! The gang's all here!

By the way, you don't have to be a Stamping Pea "Fixture" to sponsor a challenge ... anyone can! If you have an idea ... go for it! It is a lot of fun to host a challenge and see what everyone creates based on your inspiration! And the more challenges the merrier!

@Daria/djc: Suzanne/Fruitysuet sure does have an impressive number of badges! Yay Suzanne!

Here's a Master List of challenges sponsored by Two Peas during October, from Jamie Sorenson the Community + Education Manager. Check it out! Better yet, bookmark it or put it in your watch list!

Here I am late to the party, but I did get a challenge up. Thank you to Anne and Jan who both sent me reminders of our fun SOF event. I haven't been around much lately, but I'm thrilled to offer a challenge with a prize. Here's the link to my challenge thread which is linked to the blog post and has a video tutorial link. Let me know if I forgot anything. Thanks for keeping us all coordinated Daria.

Hi, Everybody.

You wouldn't believe what's going on at my place today. I've managed to post my second challenge in fits and starts. I also added new challenges to the Master Thread. However, I can't play!!!

I'm dying to look at every single challenge and the GALLERY.

Tami, I'm so glad you're here! It's like old times. Thank you for hosting a challenge. I didn't even get to look at the details, but I will as soon as I can get more than a minute.

My sisters sent me into the computer to look something up, and I'm taking advantage by posting here. I better do what I'm suppose to do. LOL>

Is everyone having fun?
