Oh, I hope you feel back to normal soon!!

I have already gone for broke. I knew that you were going to present the challenge again. So, I went to Office Max and bought banker's boxes, put them all together and packed them with my supplies. Everything is labeled on the front of the side. All of the border punches in one, adhesive in another, etc. I am moving from from our finished basement to a newly-remodeled scraproom on our first floor.

(I will re-use the boxes during the next room remodel.)

Sorry you're feeling down, this is the worst time of the year for me. All those allergies.. ah choo! Hope you're back on your feet soon.

I'm going for broke again. If for no other reason than I get to dust everything completely and reorganize again.

Yikes everyone is getting sick. I hope you enjoy part of your days at home!

As for me - I went/am going broke. I started the process awhile back and picked the worst areas and boxed them up and started. This week I will pack up a few items I did not the first time - the stickers, some rubber stamps, and ribbon....

Hope you feel better soon.

There's some kind of a flu virus going around. I was at a book club meeting tonight and several of my friends were sick last week. I hope you are better soon.

I'm just going small. I already have some of my supplies organized. I just need to change a few things.

Sweet Dreamer-way to be proactive with the bank boxes!
LoveRibbons-Good luck!
Nantini- I don't know if you are my hero or crazy! LOL! I just can't seem to bring myself to box it all up again...although weeks 22-29 are still in their piles.
Daisymarie-I'll go small with you.

QOTW:
Last round I went for broke: Go for broke- Jan 2010
this time, I am starting small and fixing what does not work...which probably is not as small as I think it is once OCD Me gets involved!

I'm biting the bullet and going for broke. Since I'm going to box everything, should I at this time also start a box to give away, as I sort through everything? Or will this slow me down too much to have to make decisions?

STARTING SMALL. babysteps. I wish i had the room to box everything up and start from the bare walls but that is what got me to the point of chaos in the first place. so slow and steady like the tortoise and the hare. One box at a time, one cubbie at a time, one project at a time...

Crisann - hope you feel better soon. We've got something going around our house too.

I'm going small again. I'm actually a little afraid to go for broke. I'm afraid I'd never get everything back in place.

I "went for broke" last time, which did help somewhat, but this time I need to do it far smaller. With the help of a good friend I boxed *everything* up last time & put it in the corridor/spare bedroom etc, however I moved house just a few weeks ago & I do not have the room to move everything out of the craft room - seriously my new house is about 1/2 the size of the old one & there is NOWHERE to put it. The only place (literally) I *could* put it would be the guest room, but that isn't practical - I can't have my guest room out of action for 6 months whilst I do this - my Dad's coming to stay in 2 weeks time for a few days & he needs to access the bed, not be stumbling over boxes! I'm still living with boxes not unpacked in several rooms & I need to get that changed - my aim is to have teh whole house straight by christmas

On a positive note, I never fully unpacked from the last "go for broke" so many items are still clustered in boxes & were just taped up & moved! I have emptied some of them, but generally into the same area so it should make it a little easier some weeks.

I *really* wish paper wasn't the first week though - I am already having nightmares about how to store that as my old system won't work & I know it will be much easier to work out when I know where everything else is going!!

Good morning. Crisann, hope you're feeling better by now; maybe you can enjoy a couple of days off work.
I'm also starting small since I have a couple of projects going that I can't quit working on. Some of my area is already OK, but I'm trying to decide which part to box up (which part aggravates me the most!). This is a great way to make us analyze our space and see what needs the most work. I'll post later when I can decide which things are going "in the box"! Maria

Crisann - Hope you're felling better

Scrapping Judy - Yes you can organize your room without moving anything out. BUT if you're like me you'll have things in 2 or 3 or 4 different places. The idea is to get all of your common stuff together and figure out storage for your entire stash of, say ribbon or stamps or whatever. You have to see everything you have at once to be able to make enough room to store it.

For me in round 2, I knew I was storing my paper pretty much the way it is. My Cropper Hoppers only fit into certain shelves due to height and I like where it is. So for me, th paper was organized where it is, on the shelf. But I had emblishments EVERYWHERE - by colour, by theme, in this cubby, on this shelf. I needed to get ALL my embelishments in ONE spot so I could figure out where/how to store them from here on out. Make sense??

Esteryee - YES! As you're packing up there's things there's no way you'll use/like anymore or just are tired of - by all means purge them now. Sometimes it makes the piles easier to manage. When I was pulling out my stashes, I had 4 piles - keep, garage sale, giveaway to daycare and toss. Anything in keep was boxed up by category, garage sale into the bin I keep yearlong and the daycare stuff was boxed up in brought in as soon as the box was full.

As for me - I think I'm going to do a hybrid clean slate. This time there are more areas that I like - paper, pens, adhesive. But I'm thinking of going for broke with my stamps, embelishments, card supplies and completel emptying out 2 of my 4 shelves, plus the hutch on my desk.

I think if it is your first attempt at this challenge, go for broke is the wat to go. I had no idea how many unused mini albums I had...and embellishments! Like Kris74, they were everywhere...I think without an initial clean sweep, it is kind of like herding cats around 3 year old children- just not very effective. However, because paper is the next week, you can still scrap and make cards etc...because those things will be out of the box!

(PS- there is no rule that says no rummaging)

Judy - The idea is to keep all like supplies together. So when you're clearing out your room, the stamps all go in one pile, box, bin, whatever. If you're dumping into piles in another room, all stamps go together in the same general area. If you're backing in boxes/bins, either have an overflowing bin of stamps or you might have several boxes/bins of stamps.

The idea of the clear out is so when you get to say, stamps. You can go to where you have them all, see them all, smack your head over the duplicates you have (jk) and then figure out how to store them. It's easier to figure out storage when you can see everything at once.

Clear as mud?!?

On second thought, maybe I will try and clear out a lot more of my room then I originally thought. I know there are corners that have been clocked in for awhile and I really would like to have better access to them .... hmmm. I'll have to think about this some more.

good afternoon, ladies!

scrappinjudy - what i did this time around was use baskets. you could use banker's boxes/tupperware containers too. i sorted everything into those baskets, based on category - now, granted, there are a few things that don't fit in my baskets (paper/albums/page protectors), but, for the most part, everything's in baskets which are lined up along one wall of my studio - everything is completely accessible, so if i need something, i can get to it.

some things won't stay in baskets forever - other things will. the point, for me, was to get all like things together...

each week, after this week, we'll tackle one of those categories - pick a storage method and organize it...

here's all the categories -

Week 4 - Paper
We're all guilty on this one. I know my stash could wallpaper the White House.

Week 5 - Scraps
What to keep, what to toss, and where to store them.

Week 6 - Photos (print and digital)
Solutions for your most prized possessions.

Week 7 - Ideas
What to do with that 3' stack of layout ideas under your bed.

Week 8 - Projects, Incomplete Pages and Kits
I found a system to help you get these off your table and into your albums!

Week 9 - Embellishments
Containers galore!

Week 10 - Alphas
Stickers, chipboard and rub on storage.

Week 11 - Non-Alpha Stickers and Rub-ons
When a giant box just doesn't work anymore.

Week 12 - Ribbon, Thread and Fibers
My pretty little things!

Week 13 - Stamps
Know what you have and where they're located!

Week 14 - Crop Supplies
How to keep the sanity in your space when you're always on the go!

Week 15 - Ink, Ink Pads and Embossing
How to deal with these little things that take up so much room!

Week 16 - Paints and Glitter and Stickles
Oh my!

Week 17 - Punches
Not the boxing kind.

Week 18 - Tools and Adhesive
Keeping them handy

Week 19 - Chipboard (raw)
Sheets or die cuts, let's get them in place!

Week 20 - Die Cuts
By theme and by color

Week 21 - Pens and Pencils
The basics we can't live with and can't live without!

Week 22 - Dies for Die Cutting Machines
Quickutz, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, and more!

Week 23 - Templates
Plastic and metal

Week 24 - Memorabilia
How to store your glorious collection of ketchup packets for that layout you're going to do...someday....really!

Week 25 - Negatives
Yeah, we probably will never use these again, but they need to be stored safely!

Week 26 - New Items and Keeping it Neat
How to avoid re-taking this Challenge

Week 27 - Fonts
First step....stop downloading!

Week 28 - Cards and Card-Making Supplies
What DO you do with 300+ birthday cards?

Week 29 - Room and Space Decor
Time to make all your hard work look pretty!

I am keeping my process on the small scale. I only have a few problem areas. And while that "stuff" is already together, its not really how I want it organized. I know there is a better way, I just don't know what that way is yet, LOL!
I'm also finishing a bunch of those "unfinished projects" as I organize too. Part of my own personal organization process, I guess.

And I hope those of you that aren't feeling well get better soon!!!!

Scrappinjudy- you are not required to store up everythning, but it makes it easier. Trust me! Read Wookiemouse's blog, like Crisann said, and if you want you can check out my week 3 clean sweep from last round. It is a blog, so you can read my frustration and ah ha moments with the experience. In my case, I was moving rooms, so I took my BIG mess and made neat piles, and skipped the boxes.

This can be one of the most overwhelming steps of the process, but it
1) clears the shelves to start with a blank canvas for storage
2) lets you take invintory of sorts of what you do have
3) may make you realize that there are donations to goodwill or the childresn's hospital in your future

I rewarded myself each week with a LO using my "new" cleaned up and put away items. And if this is to scarry, you could always start small and box up later (I won't tell)

I dont even know how to answer the question. I am moving back into my new sb room. Tonight I should have internet out there, and hopefully my computer set up. I brought my supplies in and just sorted by what they were and put them in the expedit or the iris drawars. I am labeling the iris drawers as I go, but so far just with blue painters tape. I went for broke, but am putting things back. I will use the help to sort through stuff though. I have scraps in one drawer, stickers in one basket, paper on one shelf etc. Definitly needs worked down more and then I found 5 more boxes in the garage as we were cleaning yesterday. I cant wait to start on paper.

Sorry Crissann that you have been sick, we have it here too. Nasty stuff, has definitly put a dent in what I am getting done. Hope everyone feels better soon.

I am going for broke this time. I tried 'starting small' last round and fell off the wagon pretty quick. I figure that once it's boxed up, I'll HAVE to organize it or I'll never scrap again!

Unfortunately, there is no way I'll be able to box anything until Sunday since my son's birthday party is Saturday and I've got a lot to do to get that together. Why, oh why, did I think it would be a good idea to make Jedi robes for all my DS's friends?! Sigh.

I have to go small. If I don't, I get overwhelmed and then I don't complete the task.

I'm in the purge mode right now. Say 'buh-bye' to the wood stamps, unmounteds, and some $1 bin Studio G's. I just don't use them.

Here's my post from week 3 - round 2, tweeked a bit because some areas are now working great and I don't need to pull everything out again. Although I do intend to go through each area to see if I can purge some more stuff. I'd still love to "go for broke", but I can't put my business on-hold for any extended period of time.

Question of the Week: Who's starting small? Who's going for broke?

I'd love to go for broke, but with my room serving double-duty as an office for my business, I can't manage the chaos. Plus, I love the paint color, the L-shaped desk/hutch/bookcase combo works well and my Expedite serves its' intended function.

That being said, I'm joining the HOT SPOT HITTERS. I'm going to pull everything out of the Expedite and the drawers/doors/shelves of the desk combo, but based on each weekly category. That way I can re-vamp everything slowly, while still working in there.

I will admit that some categories have grown since round 2. Fellow Peas can cause a shopping stir when discussing things like punches.

Heads-up everyone ... paper is next week!

I'm going for broke. I've been bringing home paper boxes from work and have already started the cleaning out process. So I am a little ahead there but a little behind in that I have no idea what I want my room to look like so for right now boxes of scrapbooking supplies line the hallway.

I've gotten most of the scrap stuff out of the room but still have other stuff that needs to be cleaned out (i.e., why did I think I need to own every Junior League cookbook known to mankind? do I really still need the shot glass collection I started in college?) The answer is no and these things are taking up valuable shelf space that could be used to support the level of OCD organizing I need/plan on doing when stuff comes back into the room.

I've already started a give away box. A fried of mine at work calls herself a beginning scrapbooker and has said that she wants anything I don't. And while I may not be an advanced scrapbooker I am definitely an advanced scrapbuyer. I am on paper box #2 for her.

Here's the catch for me - I am going to have to accelerate getting stuff back in my room as I have a 10-month old that I am sure would love to liberate my stuff from the boxes sitting at ground level.

Good morning. Trying to post a couple of pictures again (I really suck at this).
These are three of the areas I'm trying to "start small" with; the turnaround storage unit(from a lss) really needs work. So today, I'm cleaning everything off and trying to find better storage for those items and deciding which items I NEED on the turnaround. The other items are just sitting on the window ledge waiting for a real storage space so those are going somewhere better. Sounds good when I type it; I'm hoping it's as good when I actually do this! scrappinG8R-LOL! I understand the frustration of scrap stuff and little people. Unfortunately,it does not get better as they grow up. My daughter is almost 6 and wants more in my scrap stuff than ever!

As much as I would like to go for broke, I just don't have the space for it. I have a few ideas to do what I can but it's going to be a huge process. I'll have to take up some of my daughter's playroom and as I have discovered this past week, she likes to take stuff without asking me for it. And she hides it. I guess if I don't miss it, I don't need it? Anyway, for the most part, I'll be sweeping through each topic each week and focusing on that area.

Crisann, hope you are feeling better by now!

thanks ladies!

yes, i'm feeling better. went back to work yesterday. not exactly... um... productive, but functional. lol...

i am in no way, shape, or form going for broke this time around. why? b/c i did faithfully work through each week during round 2, so other than still having a few "problem areas," which don't warrant packing everything back up, i'm still on track...

my biggest issue is next week. i've developed a weak spot for paper. scrappnbee - pretty soon, i probably will have 50 cropper hoppers. lol...

you know, i've spent alot of time thinking lately... i almost wish i could go back to the days of being a so-called beginner - fewer supplies to worry about. i was thinking, wouldn't it be great to get my kit each month and actually use it, not shop, and be in a smaller corner in the main living area of the house - and not have stuff everywhere. lol... i'll bet s/o dreams of that day.

Crisann, you weren't suppose to buy anymore paper!

I've bought 4 stacks, all thanks to you.

Next week will really be challenging, but I'm going to get it done once and for all.

Lisa, thank you - that turnaround holds quite a bit; it's 3 sided. And no, I didn't get any of it taken down today! I usually have more time on Fri nite, so I'm hoping to work on it then.

Jen, I'm looking forward to your "paper solution" next week. My paper is stored 3 different ways and next week will be HARD! Maria

I've been on a bit of a paper buying frenzy as well Next week should be VERY interesting!!

Jen - I'm really excited to see your paper solution too!! Mine is stored all over the place in several different ways. I'd just like for it all to at least live on the same shelf!!

I blogged week 3 (round 3). It isn't as stimulating as round 2, but then again, it isn't quite as terrifying as when I did it in round 2...and I am going "small"....riiight...
