Am I missing something? I set up a new page 2x2 300, transparent, I drew my dot within the grid lines. All good to here. I'm on a MAC and edit>copy/paste is not available. I can add another page and drop my dot onto it and then drag and drop from page 2 to page 1 creating more layers as I go. Is this the procedure? Is there an easier way to create a whole aligned page? Where did I make the wrong turn? |

Hi, Linnie!
When I want to duplicate a layer, I either click ctrl (command on Mac?) + J with the layer selected *OR* I'll hold the alt key while I click and drag on the circle with my mouse cursor. I'm not sure if there is an equivalent command on a Mac for that second method or not...I think the first method should work for you though! If you pick the circle layer and just hit command + J a few times, you'll create a bunch of duplicate layers of the circle.
If that doesn't work, please let me know! |

Linnie I am on a mac and Erica's commands work.
ALT+Drag= copy/paste item
COMMAND+J=Duplicate Layer
Erica, loved your tutorial, this is so much easier than I thought it would be. Thank you!

Oh great, Vieve - thanks for letting me know that that technique works for a Mac! |

Thank you Ladies. Your suggestions worked fine. I have to pull out my keystroke list again. I keep forgetting command C/V doesn't always work. The alt-drag makes a new layer automatically. Any hints on aligning and distribution. I'm waiting for cataract surgery and can't see the grid marks too easily. It's a light thing. |

What program/version are you using? In PSE8, when I select multiple layers, I have alignment and distribute tools appear int he top toolbar. I went from 5 to 8 and I know that 5 had those options as well. If you're using PSE5 or higher, I can paste in a screenshot to show where they are located! |

Hi - I am using PSE6 for MAC. I tried exactly as you just suggested. All my circles bunched up together as one layer. I tried each option and got the same results. This is not the first time the "rules" don't apply. It seems my version has its own variation !?! |

Mea Culpa - I was not selecting the correct layers to align and distribute. I assume that by not creating a new layer before duplicating my shape the layers are not in order like mine are not. |

I did it! Thanks for your help. It took awhile and a few tries with sizing and colors. I used a template for my LO and personalized it.
This will be my first upload. I listened to the how to but I don't know which gallery to use or how to tag it. |

Oh great - I'm so glad you were able to figure it out!
If you hover your mouse over "Member Gallery" the bottom option will be to upload a new project. Then you can upload your image, select which gallery it will go into and on step 4, I believe, you'll be able to choose the October Digi 101 challenge box so it will link to the tutorial.
I can't wait to see what you did! |
