question of the week: what's your favorite type of alphas? Well - right now I have a love/hate relationship with alphas primarily because the things never line up right. But I have two sets of Thickers and I think I love them.

checklist of things to do during week 10 -
1. read the week 10 post on wookiemouse's blog - read and turned green with envy again.

2. answer the question of the week on this thread- see above
3. organize your alphas - they are partially organized into file folders but need to be organized by color. Rub-ons are in two separate places. The ones I use all the time from MM are in a magnetic basket on my sheet metal wall so I can reach them easily. The rest are in a box needing to be sorted. Frankly I might give those away to a young friend who started scrapping. I really do not like most rub-ons.....

Crisann- Glad you got your bookcases upstairs! Have fun filling them!

Lovesribbons- What a great scrapspace! I love all of the storage and shelving you have. Good luck with your thesis!

QOTW: I love my clear acrylic stamp alphas (but they probably don't count). Second, is currently thickers (I just have to remember to add extra adhesive or I come back to thicker confetti).

Here is my blog from last round: Alphas (round 2) . However, if you read it last week, you know that I combined weeks 9 & 10 last round.

Keeping all my alphas in one folder (solution round 2) needs to change, as it is overstuffed. Off to find a solution!

scrappnbee - already done! lol...

there's actually not too much of anything left on my floor...

i have to figure out what to do w/ my "use it or lose it" pile - need to find a little basket or something to put on my desk. there were some things that, when i went through stuff, i realized that if i wasn't going to use it soon, it needed to be purged, so i put those things together...

i need to figure out what to do w/ my magazines. i might just bring them in my bedroom, since i rarely read anything in my studio anyhow. i'm very much a lie in bed and surf/browse kind of person...

oh, and i also need to go through the boxes that are in there and see what things i want to keep and what things i want to purge and what things i want to display - the boxes are mostly all decorative-type things and past projects...

hmm... still some painting to do. blah! i hate painting, but i still haven't fixed my wall and i still haven't painted either my desk or my shelf...

after that, it's all finishing touches...

LovesRibbons - Your space looks great!!!

Scrapnbee - good luck finding your solution to the overstuffed alphas!!

Crisann - Good for you for already filling up your nemesis shelves! LOL!

question of the week: what's your favorite type of alphas?
I'm probably going to have to say Thickers as well. I mean really, whats not to love? They are self-adhesive (sorta, lol), there is something to go with pretty much everything and they add dimension within minutes!!

checklist of things to do during week 10 -
1. read the week 10 post on wookiemouse's blog. Done-ish. I'm going to go back several times during the week to find a solution for my chipboard alphas.
2. answer the question of the week on this thread. - Done
3. organize your alphas. - Done with everything but chipboard. I worked on it last night (have the backache to prove it). I went from storing chipboard sets to sorting everything out by letter. I mix the fonts anyway, may as well make it easier on me. Right now they are in plastic baggies...need to find something better....

Have a great and organizational week! LOL!

I also mostly use clear alpha stamps, but other than that I love the Doodlebug alpha stickers (I have yet to actually get some Thickers to try).

My 3 dimensional alphas are in little jewelry sized ziploc bags and they are all in a photo box (I don't have many - the box is about 3/4 full). As for stickers and rubons, I am about to separate them by color and put them into 2 of the magazine holders I covered this afternoon. I got a pkg of 5 at IKEA for like $1.99 or something crazy like that. Three are for paper and the other 2 are for stickers.

I'm glad I decided to follow along with this challenge - I am constantly trying to organize my stuff and now it's finally working. I went from having my own room, to sharing a room with my husband to having a corner in my room with shelves up to the ceiling (literally) to what I have now (my corner of the room with no shelves on the wall - we are going for a cleaner look to make it more relaxing in here). My space keeps getting smaller, but my stash sure isn't. This is really helping, so thank you!

Kware-glad we can help! You gotta try thickers though...but then you'd have more stuff LOL! ...also, the Thickers adhesive doesn't hold well, so when you try them, add a glue dot to the back of each...or you will be grumpy later! ...still totally worth it!

scrappin usmc-great job! Time for a bubble bath then for that back!

Crisann-technically, I 'd be done too. However, the part of me that is really beginning to like how clean and organized everything looks now sees that overstuffed folder of alphas and cringes.

We'll see how it goes though... I have CKC Seattle Fri & Sat (DH in charge of the tribe-scary...but I don't care), then Tran Siberian Orchestra Sat night! Busy weekend!

Question of the week-What's your favorite alphas? I, too, love Thickers. I like the fonts, colors, and dimension they give to a layout.

I've read Wookiemouse's blog and I've organized my alphas so I'm good for this week.

I'm going to go back and work on some of my unfinished weeks in the next few days.

Oh boy, alphas week showed up really fast! My alphas are in 3 or 4 different spots so I need to work on sorting and coming up with something that will work for all the different types. Another ruff week...

Let's see, I read wookiemouse's blog; she just has it all together!

QOTW: I really like some of the Thickers, but you all sure are right about adding extra adhesive; looks like they'd fix that. And I've recently fallen in love with some AC stickers (a larger font). So easy to use. And I still have some old alpha templates (some from ScrapPagerz) that I use once in awhile! So pretty much anything but my own hand lettering...

LoveRibbons, Your stuff looks organized already. That Expedit sure looks awesome (and full!) I really like those canisters on your desk.

ScrappnBee, Your alphas look accessible in the folder; maybe you just need more folders! Have fun at CKC; make room in your space for all the stuff you'll bring home...

crisann, You sure knew how to motivate your SO! Wish I lived closer to you; I'd help you paint - unless you choose purple!

scrappin usmc, Sounds like you have a good leg up on the week. I'm not brave enuff to separate my cb alphas, but I need to figure out a better system for them.

kware, I like the Doodlebug alphas too (not the glitter ones so much); they have a really great font, don't they? The photo boxes for 3D alphas sounds like a good idea.

daisymarie, Congratulations on having your alphas done! I'm still trying to catch up on other weeks too.

Hope everyone gets lots done this week. I'm afraid I'll be behind again as it's supposed to be pretty nice outside and I have lots of stuff that I need to get done out there! Maria

1. read the week 10 post on wookiemouse's blog.
DONE

2. answer the question of the week on this thread.
I am totally a sticker alpha girl. Now I can cut letters with my cricut and use my xyron to make my own.

3. organize your alphas.
Organized in a binder by color order per font. and little letters organized the same by color by font in a photo box.

QOTW: what's your favorite type of alphas?

Mine is stickers and I have tons of them. I have a couple sets of alpha rubons, one set of chipboard alpha and two alpha stamp sets. I haven't ever used thickers.

My alpha stickers are stored in an old CM sticker binder (along with the rest of my stickers and diecuts). They are just randomly shoved in a 12x12 sleeve. I think I'll enlist dd's help again tonight with sorting the alphas. Once I see what I've got, then I'll decide how I want to sort/organize. I will probably keep my current sticker binder just because I have it already. I'll see how well it works with the alphas actually organized.

I hope to get this done tonight so I can resume with project week.

crisann - yeah for getting your shelves in place. That didn't take too long for him to move them once they were in the living room. Like the use it or lose it pile - giving some items a second chance before they are history.

scrappinbee - how about multiple folders for your alpha stickers - maybe one per color or combine some colors if you don't want that many folders

Stickers (although I just ordered a bunch of Thickers, so this may change)

I organized my alpha stickers and flat sheets of rub-ons by color in a basket. The MM rub-ons are in with the color drawers. I've only got a few chipboard alphas left to sort - I think I'm going to put the decorated ones in the appropriate color drawer, and the plain ones maybe in the front of the alpha sticker basket. Small 3D alphas were already organized in a divided clear plastic tool box type thing.

I love Cathy Zielske - took Me: The Abridged Version. Think I will be doing hybrid scrapping every now and then because well there is just too much crap in my room to go completely digital I could have a yard sale but I would miss my inks. Anyway DH ordered PSE 9 tonight for me after he goofed up and ordered and installed the Premiere program resulting in grumpy wife syndrome. Being a very understanding guy he fixed it tonight. Should be here in a day or two because my free trial is up!

Any CZ has a Layout Monday on her blogs on guess what MONDAYS. You can download a free pdf with the layout. Like her style. Am taking Nic Howard's class at BPS -excellent class but I am sinking surely between school and work and I just cannot make a cluster to save my life. BUT I am learning something. Where do you put the things and what things go in a cluster for say a little boy??? You can only use buttons so many times - ok stopping the whining about my lack of skills. I need to study the handouts more. The second week handout is a bit easier -vertical strips I can handle that if I get the measurements right. It is such a gorgeous layout.

Sorry for the hijack. I have vegged all night when I should have been catching up but tomorrow have a busy day at work and meeting with thesis committee and I know I will have work to do tomorrow night. But still should have gone back in my room....

Ok am over it. I think...going to bed. Thanks for listening.

AH, alphabets. Yep mine are in several different places and will probably stay that way . . . in that the stickers are well organized in a 3-ring binder, the thickers & chipboard sets are together and the rub-on are together.

My favorite alpha? Probably the ones I cut with the KNK or Quickutz. Although I do use stickers and rubber stamps as well.

Browsed wookie's blog. Still contemplating the big move and how to set up my room. Came to an realization this weekend when I made 5 bday cards . . . I think I want to set my table up facing the other direction! IN my old room albeit small, everything was condensed and within reach. I have a bigger space--AND I WILL be more organized soon . . . but I didn't like getting up to find everything. Plus the afternoon sun was shining in my eyes. I know a good problem to have to also have to consider sun damage and keeping delicate items out of the direction line!

Time for bed!

Did some scrapping yesterday and I have to say it is amazing how much easier it is when my alphas are sorted by colour and all in one place! Who knew? One of my big frustrations was always finding the 'right' letters for a title. Suddenly that is easy as pie. Sweet!

Thanks Crisann and Wookiemouse!!

I put all my stickers together by colors but now the box is to tightly packed, I can't flip through to get what I want. Guess purging should come first huh?

I'm leaving my alpha stamps with stamps because that's how I search/think of them. I store mostly by color and since my stamps can be whatever color I want them to be, that wouldn't work for me. Does that make sense?

Same here! Mine are going with stamps b/c that is where they live. (and that is one thing less to do this week!) Finishing up my LO & packing for CKC Seattle tomorrow!

ScrappnBee - HAVE FUN!!!

For me alpha stamps are in the clear stamp binder if they are clear stamps, in the alpha drawer of the wood stamp section. Stamps must not mix with stickers I don't know why but this is how I think....

Whoa!!! I jumped to the end of the thread and this is what I read. I quickly paged up to see what I had missed! I thought for a minute that I had opened the wrong thread.

Stamps must not mix with stickers

I'd have to agree with this. All my stamps are stored together. My alpha stamps wouldn't fit in my sticker storage.

I am finished with my alpha storage. I'll post a pic later - trying to fix dinner and "pea".

where is everyone? get in here!

i'm very disappointed in the lack of conversation this week...

s/o and i went to m's tonight. guess what i got? NOTHING! although, i almost brought home a few mme holiday stacks and a few dcwv stacks, but remember... i learned the hard way how much of a pita those stacks end up being when i gotta put them away, so even though they were 45% off, i didn't...

went to king's for dinner. i ate french toast and broccoli & cheese soup.

Almost every scrap of paper is in it's place! More got labelled today, and two empty boxes left the room! Still lots of miscellany on the floor, and 3 crates, and 3 boxes to sort and put away. HUGE progress though!

AND, AND, AND . . . . I scrapped a page! Wahoo! Now granted it was a page kit from CKC 09, and I printed the photos before the boys came home, but it is done! We adopted 2 boys a year ago, so that tells you how long it's been since I've spent much time creating LOs!

I bought another Jetmax cube at M's tonight (using up coupons) and let my girls pick out stickers Just trying to keep the conversation going for you, Crisann!

I also went to M's last night. They actually let me use two coupons! A 40% off one item and 20% off of entire purchase. Talk about shock. I bought the MS circle cutter thing and some bakers twine and a couple of MS sticker things to make some more Christmas cards.

I've actually been cheating with the organization challenge and going all over the place. I'm almost done though. BUT my chipboard alphas are kicking my tail feathers. I cannot find a good way to store them. I sorted them by letter and put them in plastic baggies. They are all shoved in a drawer...there has to be a better way, I just can't find it!

walk of shame here...I haven't worked on my alphas one bit...I've been trying to catch up on some outside chores this week while it's warm. One more excuse: I've also been trying to finish that retirement sb that I need to complete so I can start on another one. Alphas (scary alphas) didn't make the cut this week! Maybe tonite I can devote a little time to sorting them out.

crisann, that was an odd sounding supper. But at least the soup was healthy!

ScrappnBee, I hope you're having a great time and finding lots of "pre-organized" stuff to bring home.

Hope everyone is getting more done than me. Maria

I don't have all that many alphas. they all fit in a medium-sized basket. the hard ones are the alpha 'beads' and some other small, packaged alphas. tossed a few.

where are you all giving your purged supplies?

I too went to M's with my coupons -got some Staz On Ink and yes, 2 packs of BG paper...ok but in colors I have very little of and because it is BG I do not mix it in with the other pp in CHs. I just have to put it in the BG place. Easy cleanup.

Did not work on my alphas.

And does Crisann's odd menu conjure up any pregnant mental images for anyone??? Come on that was a bit too odd Crisann.

PS There are no walks of shame in scrapbooking.

loveribbons - i'm not pregnant. i'm 100% positive of this.

besides, if i were (and remember, i'm not, so this is completely hypothetical), we would be doing a round 4, when i have to give up my current studio, finish the basment, and move down there...

but again, i'm not...

Crisann - I hope you were not offended. Just was a very odd menu. As for the basement my stuff WAS down there but I really wanted natural light so DH traded spaces with me. Also I was tired of looking at his messy office right off the kitchen so now everyone looks into my messy scraproom instead. This challenge has made it look a whole lot better though!

Well, I'm sad to say that organisation in my house is not going well

I'm still struggling on embellishments - I have 5 "theme" boxes set up for those categories that I have multiple things for like travel & Christmas or for very specifically themed bits that I need to be able to find when I want them but that aren't likely to be easily found in colour boxes. I'm still not sure about the colour boxes - I think I need to do a bit more scrapping & see how they work so have parked them for a while & moved onto alphas ...

I don't really have a favourite sort - as long as it works on the page I'm happy! I have only used one set of thickers that I was given - I liked them but they are sooooooooo expensive! I have "sorted" my alphas in a sense - my alpha stamps are in a cubby of my expedit & the alpha sticker sheets are standing up alongside them I think that'll do for now - I know where to find them I don't have anywhere near as many as I thought I did - I think I purged a lot last time round.
I need more black - but ...

now, please don't tell me I need to tackle my "words" pile next
Those are stickers, rubons, even metal tiles or charms or whatever that have words or phrases on!

I went to M's this afternoon and bought a couple of baskets to use for organizing my stuff. I was only allowed to use one coupon so I didn't save that much. When I got home I realized how poorly made they are for 16.99. They are supposed to match but one of them is about two inches shorter than the other. I'm taking them back tomorrow.

I didn't get any organizing done, but I did work on a layout for awhile.

scrappinJudy - I just sent a package to a pea in Texas. She's a middle school teacher starting up an after school program for the kids. Here's the link to her thread if you want to get her info.

Here are my organized alphas. I have them organized by color mostly, except the CM alphas. It looked like I had a lot more when they were all stuffed in on sleeve.
