Scrappnbee - I like embrace. I cannot believe you are going to do all that! I might pick "amazing" if I were you-

Crisann - you any better? I lounged all day and then made dinner for the kids. Was napping when DS called for help with buying a gift for his girlfriend!!!

So looks like three of you are taking OLW...it just sounds too touchy feely for me. I am not sure.

Hi everyone!

I'm in a post-holiday la-la-land these days. Not really much of anything getting done - bits here and there, but nothing remotely 'productive'. Got up the energy to take my oldest two down to a place called Energyplex today and they are like totally new kids! I got smiles, an 'I love you' (completely out of the blue), and best of all, they aren't trying to bite each others' heads off anymore! Well worth the $ and the drive.

Susan, I really hope you don't have the bug that my oldest had and get better soon. No fun being sick over the holidays.

As for BPC, I've registered for Embrace Imperfection and will definitely sign up for Creative Retreat. Still a little undecided about OLW. I'll probably wait for some feedback in January before committing.

Kris, thanks for the heads up about the deal at Costco. Great incentive to get my photos uploaded.

Amanda, hope your DS learns to appreciate the cold on his winter camp. Maybe he'll learn that coats really are useful! I like the sound of Embrace.

Must go admire my littlest's new haircut - he's back from a trip to the barber with Daddy!

I have a grand total of 6 punches (including my corner rounder) and I can't figure out how I want to store them. I am one of those people that if I don't see it, then I won't use it, so I don't really want to put it in one of the 4 drawers of the cube on my desk and I've run out of space on my MM shelf with all the Stickles I recently aquired (b'day was 12/8 and then Xmas as well). And my desk is back to being a mess of piles ... but I'm enjoying reading all the chit chat

Good morning. I've been trying to catch up on your all's posts - sounds like everyone had a good Christmas. Hope those of you who have been sick (or have sick little ones) are feeling better and are ready to face the new year.
My punches are OK - I only have maybe a dozen, and a few handheld hole punches. They're in drawers and pretty handy so I haven't any problems with them so far.

QOTW: nothing scrapbook-related here for Christmas, except for 2 rolls of film to develop and some (probably blurry) pictures on my little digital camera to download. (or is upload?)

crisann, best of luck with that "baby wish" - although I wasn't able to with my son, I think that being a SAHM is one of the best things that you can for your children. And the fact that you have a Schwann's truck to deliver doesn't hurt!

Kris74, I need to get one of those shoe holder things; they sound so handy. And it's sounds like you have lots of good reading there with your scrapping books - I've been looking at the "52 More Challenges" book, but can't decide if I want to use my coupon on it or not.

LoveRibbons, yep, you need to talk MIL into scrapping - sounds like a perfect spot. With a kitchen!

ScrappnBee, What a great gift: CKC! Maybe I can shame my husband into paying for me to go when they're in Louisville. Hope your son enjoyed his camp trip and stayed warm. And loved your New Year's card.

weaser, your inventory ring sounds like a good idea for all sorts of supplies. Might have to steal that idea.

Dancingfish and daisymarie, I'm with you on overflowing containers and needing to label more. Not my punches so much, but other odds'n'ends. I did buy a couple more containers at Target yesterday to spur me on a little. We'll get there...

LydiaInk, I'll bet your kids are having a great week. And I'll bet you're tired! Maybe you can rest next week!

Well, back to the real world (going to take down decorations today). Wish I had one of crisann's ice cream sandwiches... Maria

Hey Girls!
I'm here. Sort of. My mom and brother are here visiting so I've been cramming in family time. They live in WA state and I live in NC so needless to say we don't see each other often. They leave tomorrow (sniff) so I'll be back to chiming in where I don't belong, LOL! Promise!

Still not feeling much better and we are supposed to go to my sister's tomorrow for New Year's. DS is now sick. Not sure why I schedule a trip over every holiday or have 25 people here..I do know. BECAUSE we live no where near any family! Ugh. Mel I feel your pain! My young friends are back down your way and found out her DH is deploying earlier than expected-

Maria I do not want to scrap with my MIL ok well I would but she lives 8 hours away. I WANT my basement to be set up like hers. Imagine a sink in my scraproom

Crisann - hope you feel better!

Kris have fun at the party! I am going to work on my red 12x12 layout today - I think....and make two pumpkin and one apple pie....is there enough Sudafed in my house-LOL!

Mel good to hear from you!

I'm here crisann! Just got caught-up on weeks 15 and 16 since the holiday threw me off track.

Question of the week: What scrapbooking-related things did santa bring you this year?

Santa (DH) gave me the go-ahead to purchase a new camera. I'm now the proud owner of a DSLR (see below). Auto mode is great, but I need to learn how to take in manual mode again. It's been a long time since I've owned a SLR.

Here's a partial re-post from Round 2:

Punches, especially borders, are big right now. And I don't think basic shape punches will ever go out of style. Compared to some scrappers (certain Peas will remain nameless), my inventory of punches is pathetic. It might not even count as an "inventory", since it's so small (now up to 9, 12 if you include corner rounders). But, none the less, they are organized!

I have a drawer in my desk that holders the punches, as well as some adhesive and my MM tool kit. I guess the tool kit will find a new home next week when we tackle "tools". The adhesive and refills can stay in there for now. I'll be switching over to the ATG 714 after the pink cancer model is released this summer. That's a big-hunking tool that will need a home!

I love the one-and-only Fiskars border punch I have and my wish-list of designs is growing (Effervescence, All-A-Fleur & Diamond). I use the EK Success scallop circle to create the gorgeous paper flowers that you currently see everywhere on cards, layouts and paper craft projects. I picked-up the Martha Stewart punches at Walmart after the holidays for a steal-of-a-deal. They punch smooth and crisp every time I use them. I have my eye on a few of her "punch around the page" designs.

Here's my blog post from the previous Round --> week 17 - Round 2

The drawer looks less-empty now with the handful of purchases I've made over the past few months. Space is still working, but I can see myself outgrowing it in the near future. Not sure what the organizing plan will be then, but for now, it's still working.

It's feels good to be caught-up with everyone!

mel and lisa - thanks for the updates! i'm glad you too are still alive. you two are part of the family, too! lol...

yes, i'm still sick! it's sad, but true! i've even been taking vitamin c, but i think i should be taking vitamin c all the time, and not just when i feel something coming on.

i've gotten too many smoking/eating/vitamin lectures in the last few days.

you know, really... i can deal w/ the being sick thing - it just sucks that i'm at home! lol...

my name is Kelli ... KWare is first initial and last name (use it for KWare Photography)

I forgot, for Xmas I got some super-sized Stickles, a couple of stamp sets, a tool tote (which my husband returned and picked out something else he thought would work better and now he's using it and I still have to find something) and a set of Copic markers from my MIL.

Back to cleaning and feeding my girls

Welcome Back All!!!

I think my word for 2011 will be Embrace! And I am embracing and sending hugs to all y'all who are sick...or tending them! (because it sucks!).

Ha Mel- I guess we are opposites! We live in WA and my parents are in NC!

Lydia-I love new haircuts on boys. They look SO grown up.

Maria- if you have never been, CKC is awesome. I would definately see if DH can be pursuaded. Just don't overbook on classes or you will get burnt out/ stressed because you always seem to be running late.

McLisa and those with only a few punches, make sure you check on them and use them once in a while...or they end up like rabbits breeding in the dark! Besides, if you have smallish kids, it is the one tool you can "share" and be fairly confident that it will not come back broken!

i love ali's: photos + words style, so, atleast for me - worth it!

the first week's presentation was pretty sweet. i probably won't actually start doing any of the actual work until i get over this - whatever it is...

i'm starting to feel better, congestion-wise, but everytime i get up for any length of time, i start getting light-headed/hot flashes - it's really weird.

got up, fed/watered cat/dog, cleaned litter box, tried to do dishes - had to lie down. got up, pulled dinner out of the oven to cool down - had to lie down. this sucks! i'm about worthless. lol...

this is kickin' my a$$!

HEEEELLLLLLOOOOO everyone! I've been MIA due to the holiday season. I love Christmas and we entertain a lot! Had 40 for a full dinner for the company party 12/18, then my entire family minus the grown niece & nephew for Christmas. So I've been decorating, baking, cooking, and cleaning!

Punches are done, still in the fishing tackle boxes I've had forever. The automatically go in a storage area at purchase!

Santa and DH were good to me this year! I got a really cool little video camera to take skiing and for water sports as it is water proof! Love it. Also got a Martha Stewart score board, and an Ott light.

ScrappnBee- We will have to meet up at PDX CKC. Kinda bummed it is at the tail end of spring break, but we've not made big travel plans anyway!

Time to cook dinner!

Kris Thanks! I found a code on Cathy Zielske site but DH would still want to kill me so I did not sign up. I did sign up for a basic photo editing class with Jessica Sprague. That is one thing I really need to learn as the last five years of photos are digital. There are some really good ones and I would like to "fix" them. Also I would love to play with some of the more advanced techniques.

Crisann - found my rewards! Thanks! Will use to register for May's class.

Still really tired and am up way too early but I was soooo stuffed up!

Anyway everyone feel better and have a very Happy New Year!

Uh no, I didn't see that class Cristi. But as I already have 4 "current" classes, AND I really want to take the DYL, I think I'm going to try and resist any other classes!!

Susan - Yep, that was it!! I used $10 of my rewards on the OLW class. I've never taken a photogrphy class ... only because there's always beem too many scrappy classes I like better One of these days though!

So does anyone have exciting plans for tonight??

Good morning ladies!

Today is a catch-up day around here. My family room is a disaster from Christmas and the girls need to organize their gifts and at least put away any new clothing items. I'm way behind on laundry, but I'm determined to set up my Project 365 album to get a head start on tomorrow. Yes ... I said Project 365, not Project Life. My kit is from December 2008 and I haven't done a thing with it since then. Too intimidated by the idea of a photo every day and daily journaling.

I posted on the 2011 scrap goal thread and this is one of the projects I want to tackled. Kinda goes hand-in-hand with learning my new DSLSR. I signed up for the Project Life Community over at BPC and started a ShutterCal account to help keep up. So at BPC, I have Project Life and Embrace Imperfection. I'm also going to participate in Shimelle's "4x6 Photo Love" free monthly class this year. Add this on-going challenge to the list, and my plate is full for the beginning of 2011. Hoping to see a LOM class start at BPC sometime later on in the year. I'd jump on that in a second.

Nothing too special on the calendar for this evening. DH is working until at least 7:00, so the girls and I will have a movie night. Hopefully my Project 365 album is ready to go by then.

And for everyone that is under the weather ... I hope you feel better and can somewhat enjoy the arrival of 2011!

I read the description for the paint class which does sound great but is it for scrapbooking? If so am taking that.

I am signed up for Embrace Imperfection and will sign up for May's class because I am so motivated by her classes. The colour class was hard because the layouts were so dimensional but I did learn a lot. However I was hoping to learn more about color theory and using pattern paper. That is what I really need help with.

What is the community class? I have to say I took the Picture the Holidays class and although I only uploaded at the beginning I loved getting the emails daily. I am just not sure it was worth $30 because the instructor is not available like in the other classes. That said it has crossed my mind to take Picture Winter just for the prompts. But I did take a semester-long B&W photo class at a community college and should be able to do that myself. I guess my goals are to finish the classes I started now that my thesis is finished (LOL), finish some albums that are underway, start our family heritage album and to get to an intermediate level in photo editing with PSE. I am hoping my experience in a real dark room will help in the virtual world but I did not take color photography - kids were starting college and was expensive class at the time. That class would have been the best to take oh well!

I am going over to my sister's tonight. Desserts are ready. Sorry this post was so long. Should have been in my scraproom instead of peaing

angel97701- definately have to get together! Maybe even sit at a crop table! I am also meeting up with one of my Navy girlfriends who moved to the area! Congrats on surviving hosting a party for 40 and Christmas!

Crisann-sounds like you are feeling better... a little.

McLisa-Project365! I am impressed. I am not ready for that level of commitment! OCD Me would be very good the first month, then PA Me would take over, and by March we would just look at it...and be convinced that it is silenltly judging us for not playing anymore! LOL!

Hola!!!

We survived bowling!! We went with two other families this morning (5 kids + 1 newborn) and for the most part it went fairly smoothly DS was happy to get some time to hang out with some friends. It's times like these (no school) I'm sad he's an only kid

McLisa - I was surprised to see you add me to Shuttercal but that's awesome you're doing it too!!! Hopefully we can both keep ourselves on task!!

I'm hoping the Shuttercal idea will keep me more up to date with getting these pictures organized!! This year (2010) I *tried*. I do have some notes written, and I do have *almost* a picture a day set aside that DH is picking up for me this afternoon .... But my grand idea was to do a DIY version. Obviously, THAT went well So hopefully I'll have my 2010 version put together by the end of January and the 2011 will be well organized on Shuttercal.

Cristi - Glad you're starting to feel better!!

Amanda - I had an idea as I was reading your blog ... If you *really* like the shoe holder idea, why don't you hand a thicker curtain rod on the wall and hang a shoe holder off that?? (Not that I'm giving you more projects - lol) But my friend who's learning to sew found a free pattern for one online. It looked realy cool and then you can customize the size of the pockets to fit the size of your punches.

No real plans for use either. I have my race tonight at 5pm and we're just having apps, finger foods and cocktails at home. The boys will play XBox and I'll hopefully get some time to scrap.

Kris! lol...

i have half-a-mind to take another stab at p365, but i barely made it through the 25 days of december... i mean, taking pictures, atleast - b/c i've yet to actually put together that album.

then again, i've yet to take the tree down either.

right now, i'm curled up in bed w/ a book, since it's so freakin' quiet on here today. lol...

it really irritates me that i get a few days off and i still feel like crap and don't feel like doing anything - go freakin' figure!

crisann,

Sorry you're not feeling better. I think (to cheer you up) you should join us on the Project Life/365 journey. This is my first year and I'm using the original kit (Project 365) from 2009. Purchased the kit, but never opened it until now. Too intimidated by the "daily" aspect of it. I'm hoping the kit's original intention (keeping it simple) motivates me to use, and get comfortable with, my new camera. Between P365, Shimelle's "4x6 Photo Love" free class and BPC's "Embrace Imperfection", maybe I can get some of my issues under control.

I even started a ShutterCal account to help organize the daily photos for P365. Come on ... what's one more class/project?

Getting oil changed and 2 new tires, almost ready to check out - happy new year to me!!

And our home computer crashed yesterday while I was trying to load dd's Christmas present - the barbie nail printer.

But I did get a couple pictures of my punch ring taken. I'm working on labels for each tag where I'll have which bag the punch is located in.

I'll check back later and read all the new posts.
Happy New Year everyone!

I'm very tempted to sign up for some classes with the 10% code that expires tonight. I'm signing up for OLW and Creative Retreat, just can't decide about Finding Your Way. Sigh. I tend to binge on classes and then can't keep up. Must remind myself that I'll be having guests in late February as well.

Cristi, glad you're getting better. I'm envious that you can chill in bed - stuff of dreams these days!

Susan - I took the Paint class a couple of years ago and it is definitely for scrapbooking. She had us set up a 6x6 art journal for practicing and also had us do 12x12 layouts with the techniques. The class has been updated to include a painting (on wook) project as well.

Happy New Year everyone! We're about to sit down for our traditional (for us) sushi dinner with 'boy wine' (grape juice) for the boys and bubbly for adults. Cheers!

Kris-Currently my sewing machine and I are only allowed brief, strictly supervised visitation (due to tesion issues ). However, if we ever start playing nice together again, that is something to think about! LOL!

weaser- love the punch ring! Great idea!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

DS was up sick for part of the night. It's the one time of year I'm always thrilled to have multiple sets of sheets and an overflowing closet of towels

Weaser - What about punches that are too big for your tags? Do you just punch out a small circle, for example, and then write on all the other colours/sizes you have?? How big are your tags??

Amanda - Haha! I seem to recall you and your sewing machine not playing very well together

Cristi - Hope you're feeling better this morning!

OH and I had my race yesterday Just over 40 minutes for a 5K. Yay me!! I was already looking up the run sites to see when another race is

Happy New Year!

Kris - congrats on a great run. Nothing quite like sheet changes in the middle of night. Been there, done that ... have had to use sleeping bags as a last resort.

Leisa - sorry about the computer crash. Curse that Barbie!

Lydia - I LOVE sushi! All my girls love it too. It's just DH I can't get on board.

Amanda - Love the threading water punch technique from your 12/31 blog post. That's one of the few punches I own, so I'll be using that on a layout soon. Thanks!

Cristi - How are you feeling this morning?

I am so ready for week 18. Love my new pink ATG, but it's huge and I haven't figured out how to store it. That's my big hurdle for next week.

Kris - I've been trying to get my act together this past week so I can start the new year off right. About a week before Thanksgiving through the day after Christmas are a blurr. I've listed scrap goals, choose a few classes for 2011, got caught-up on this challenge and even have my Project 365 album set-up and ready to go. Now to find the trick to keep this momentum going.

Most of my tools are stored in a Pampered Chef spinning tool caddy. But this ATG thing is HUGE! Some other types of adhesives are in my punch drawer, but that has to change too. I can see my punch collection needing the entire drawer at some point. Guess I have some space issues to deal with during week 18.

Now I need to read through some of my camera manual so I can get rolling on the daily photos for P365. Anyone else around today?

Happy New Year and Good Morning everyone!

Lisa - oh so sorry about your computer!

Kris -congrats on the run! Like your word! Do you have just one word for the whole year? Then what do you do with it in the layouts?

Leisa -so sorry about DD

Crisann - I feel awful and am at my mother's and after coughing all night she had me up at 8:30 so we can get to my sister's on time....ugh.

I like the idea of the shoe storage on the wall. My daughter has two of those attached to the back of her closet wall because the doors were the folding type. It works really well. I am pretty sure I do not have enough wall space in my room because of the two big Expedits. I wonder if you could hand a rod off of one of the shelve edges and then slide the shoe holder back and forth along the rod to get to the cubicle you need....hmmmm. Might be a good way to store lots of other items.

As for tool storage I have the Pampered Chef tool holder. My ATG sits by itself up on a shelf until I use which is usually once I am CERTAIN of item placement. I change my mind a lot so I really do not use it that often. I do use it to put layouts down in my CM albums. Honestly I have not found anything that they ATG fits in except its own bucket which was taking up too much room. I would rather have other items down on my desk!

I will be in the painting class I think. First I have to figure out when we are going to England to see my dd who is doing a semester abroad in London. I looked at the class description and did not see a video instruction. Are the handouts usually easy enough to follow?

Have a great day all!

Cristi - Can you share a link for #1,2 and 3?? Sounds like you are really productive this morning

Susan - That's not very nice! I hope you can swing a nap later and that you feel better soon!! I hate being up with a cough

And Lisa look at you go!! I'm sure with all these support groups going on, we're bound to see you somewhere. Good for you!!

So we're still in pj's here (at 11:37am). Had (loose) plans to head up to my parents for a Chinese feast, but I'm thinking it's not going to happen. Sister #1 is already at parents and is chomping at the bit to go home already (she lives an hour away and her DS doesn't nap well at my parents), sister #2 is VERY pregnant and not wanting to leave her house today, haven't heard from sister #3 so who knows where she is and my parents are still at church, but noone knew they were going except for me.... So I'm thinking our Chinese feast is off. I'm thinking some scrapping, a shower and a nap is the (revised) plan of the day here. Just not sure which order

Kris-Love the word FEARLESS! Congrats on your run too! Sorry about DS! We had my DD sleeping in the bathroom on a garbage bag covered beanbag chair the day after Christmas (because I am selfish and the laundry fairy really hates pukey sheets)

Lisa- Glad you liked the tutorial. My ATG just hangs out. I am currently having a love hate relationship with it. Wish that they would make a left handed ATG or allow for the tape to roll on either side. Darned right handed ATG! Still love it though for glue intensive quick projects!

Susan-Not another Pea Down!!! Hope you get better soon…I hate having a cough at night b/c there is no sleep!

Christi- Got my paresian anthology refills from 2 peas, but think that I am just going to use jump rings and make my own cover.

Ready for Tools week (while my cleaning resolve is still strong!)

Happy New Year, everyone!

I finally just threw my few punches into one of the drawers in my 4 drawer cube for now. I'm really working on remembering the stuff that isn't out, in my face Now that the holidays are over I can work on picking up the things I need to finish organizing things from past weeks (containers and stuff). And I just finished a single page layout - I can't remember the last time I scrapbooked something for our family and not a gift for someone else!

Happy New Year!

Lisa - my DH is from Nova Scotia and worked as a fisherman when he was a student - loving fish is in his blood, but strangely, he won't have anything to do with lobster or crab!

I started today with a lot of excitement about the preclass project for Creative Retreat and about starting OLW, but slowly inertia and domestic chaos have taken control and not much has actually gotten done. Sigh. My word, BTW, is DO. As in stop thinking too much and JUST DO IT!

I'm starting a new blog this year (I'll add a link when I've written something). Does anyone have a good place to look for blog candy, or do you digiscrap your own? I'd like to find/make a header and background graphics. I'm also interested in doing a P365 this year for some strange reason. Trying not to overthink it, just do it. Not sure what I'll do with the photos at the point - definitely won't try to scrap that project. I'll look into ShutterCal.

Susan - no videos, but I don't remember having problems following the handouts.

Not ready for another week, yet. Two more days of weekend around here. Good thing, we have most of our decorations to take down still.
