well, it's not quite midnight yet...

this week, we're organizing our memorabilia. more importantly, though, this is the 6 week countdown - in 6 weeks, we're done!

ok, here's the link to wookiemouse's blog.

question of the week: i've been thinking a bit lately about what i want... i don't mean the newest embellishments or even more patterned paper, but the bigger things - the things that i tend to hesitate before i purchase... do you have any current wants?

right now, i want a typewriter - yes, a typewriter - and a sewing machine... it's not like i really need either of those things, but i've wanted a sewing machine for awhile. i just, tonight, realized you could even still buy a typewriter. lol... i was trying to do something and i thought: "this would be alot easier if i still had a typewriter."

Arghhhhhhhhh! Not memorobelia week! NOOOOO!

QOTW: I do not need anything (except my own private carribean island to scrap at). I have way too much and not enough room for it! (and I allready have the sewing machine...but no typewriter! LOL)

Good morning!!!

Cristi-I hope you get to take a nap today!!

Amanda-Got room for two on that island? LOL!

question of the week: i've been thinking a bit lately about what i want... i don't mean the newest embellishments or even more patterned paper, but the bigger things - the things that i tend to hesitate before i purchase... do you have any current wants?

I do not. Not because I have it all or anything but because I think I finally reached that point where I don't "need" to buy everything new that comes out. I subscribe to a monthly kit and that gives me that "new goodie" fix every month. SO, this challenge has not only made me organized but it's caused that pivitol "light bulb" moment! HOORAY!

As for memorobilia, I don't really have any so I have another "free" week. I'm still trying to come up with a solution for my dies. I don't have a lot but they are all different sizes and the bigz XL ones don't fit into my jetmex cubes. SO I'm not sure what to do.

Have a great day ladies! I have to go make about 35 Valentine's goodie bags today .

Make that three for the island I can picture it now ... warm salty air, sunshine on a covered pool cabana (big enough for all of us to scrap and chat) and some sort of frozen cocktail... Ah what a great dream!!

Memorabilia. For a packrat like me, it's an interesting east to manage. But I *think* I may just have a decent system going. I just need to take some pictures first.

Sorry for dropping off last week. It was tuly one of those weeks where there wasn't enough time in the day. I think I went to bed late every single day!!

As for new stuff, I wouldn't mind a sewing machine, but that's in the dar off future I think. No typewriter for me and I really don't need any other toys for scrapping.

OH NO! Memorabilia week! I should be holding my head and run screaming from the room. This will be the worst week ever. My goal will be to at least gather it all up and get it into one place (and throw away stuff that I don't even remember what it's for). Pack-rat-itis is the worst for memorabilia...

QOTW: I think IF I have one bigger thing that I would like to have it is an Expedit. They look like the most useful shelving in all the rooms I see them in. We don't have an IKEA anywhere near so this will be something I'll probably never get, but that will be my "wish-list" item for now.

Will check in later tonite. Maria

Definitely room on the island for you all! ...and a bottomless margarita machine!

Maria-once or twice a year, Ikea does a tax free sale. Here in WA sales tax is over 9%, so my savings paid for shipping to my house for bookcases.

Island here I come! Start filling my drink cup now no salt please! DD from London just called found out boyfriend back here took another girl out She was sobbing and I am all the way here

And now what do I do with all the memorabilia from Junior Ring Weekend that he took her to at college. This is a huge formal night. She looked absolutely gorgeous. I enhanced the photo of the two of them purchased a prima flower vine and some beautiful blossoms and a few new shades of Glimmer Mist to make the page this weekend. She has asked me several times if I had made it and I never got to it! Now what am I going to do with all the blossoms and vine??? I am going to have to edit him out of the picture if they break up!!!! Any advice???

QOTW - I would love a wide format printer.

Memorabilia - some is organized some is not. What is organized is in archival boxes on the top shelf of my Expedit but the boxes are not labeled The rest of it is in baggies or shopping bags or just thrown in a box. And DH asked me last night what happened to my picture sorting efforts since they are at a standstill But this is only round 1 for me!

Here is one layout for this weekend of DD going to London: London

Have to work on one of DS today - was going to work on my DD's layout sigh. Am behind on DS's book.....idk what to do with all the prima flowers for that layout....was going to do a la Nic Howard style....she is still crying and has finals this week. Leaves for Italy on Wednesday though.

loveribbons, make the lo of DD & her BF, just as you were going to. That's still what happened then! Don't edit him out of the pic! she doesn't have to look at the lo until she is ready to, but you'll have a lo of the event as it happened! and, gorgeous to boot!

susan - i'm w/ judy on this one!

sorry, your dd is having a rough time, but at absolute worse, put those pictures/supplies into a project case for a bit until she calms down, but don't edit him out and don't not scrap them...

i still have pictures from the day i graduated high school w/ my boyfriend at the time - the very first relationship i was in - 4.5 years in, it went south.

i also still have pictures from the next relationship - 2 years - and lots of pages as well - they're packed away in a box, as well as lo's of his little girl - we won't go there, but you get the idea. didn't end well - nope, not at all!

what i'm saying is she might not care now, but she will someday, i promise...

Judy and Christi - thanks for the great advice! I will just put it all aside. OMGosh and I had spent a fortune scrapwise on the supplies including some new paper! She was so excited about my making the layout. But just in case I went into PSE and edited him out and saved to a new version. Still have the original one and the one I had enhanced so I have three to chose from. I just cannot believe he did that! Ruined my scrappy day but I do have a cute layout of DS to do using May's second layout in Week 2 love that one!

susan - you are so productive! lol...

i'm still sitting here doodling and working on an art journal lo and a few tags - still haven't done my p365 and still haven't gotten back to me: tav and it's almost time to start dinner...

so, i found an american crafts album that i was going to use for p365 b/c i didn't like the albums that came w/ p365 or plife. it's a 12x12 3-ring album, so i grabbed some different sized page protectors and i'm putting stuff in that album now - a few tags from the doodling thing w/ may's class, a few pieces of 4x6 cardtock w/ stamping/glaze/glimmer mists in 3x4x6 page protectors. i have 2 6x12 lo's to put in that album and also an 8.5x11 - i'm going to use it for challenges and prompts and, more or less, messing around. lol...

i love some of the stuff from may's classes, but it doesn't have a finished album like alot of the other classes i've been taking, so...

This was not a good scrappy day. Went back to make lo of DS when he was 4 and adorable! (Now 22 and scruffy looking at times lol) and did not have the type of paper May used. Was going to make my own but lost my mojo. Took a nap instead! Might make a card later! Not sure! BUT the room is clean!

Hey girls!!!

I'm sitting watching the Grammys and loving the entertainment so far!!

So I still didn't take a picture, but I'll describe what I'm doing for this week

I toss everything I *think* I'm going to keep into a white basket that sits on top of the hutch on my desk. Every so often (OK, twice so far ), I'll sort through and try to match them up - birthday cards for DS, ticket stubs, tags from clothes, etc. I have an accordian file folder where everything gets categorized and the files are labelled with mini post it notes. That way when I'm *done* a project, I can toss everything that's left and have a cleared out file for something new.

It's pretty easy, and inexpensive - got both the basket and the file thingy at Walmart. I *will* take pictures ... at some point

Susan - I agree with the others. Leave the project as it is, put it away for awhile. Sorry the news wrecked your scrappy mojo though Hopefully she'll wake up in a frame of mind tomororow. Congrats on the clean room!!

OH! I did do something crafty today! DS and I made his Valentine's. I went to the store this morning and all they had left was princesses. So I suggested to DS that we make cards instead. OMG - he worked SO hard on them for over an hour! He did such a great job!

Looks like a busy week ahead so I'll pop in when I can

Scoot over on that island! I'd like to join you and stick my head in the sand and pretend I don't have a mess of memorabilia!

QOTW - I don't think there is any large item that I've been wanting. There is certainly nothing that I need. I already have a sewing machine. I've had a typewriter, but haven't seen it since our last move. It's possible that it's still packed in one of the few boxes that haven't been unpacked yet.

Kids have off school on V-day. No snow, but it's a teacher comp day. I'm not exactly sure what that is. So I probably won't get much accomplished in the way of organizing or scrapping tomorrow.

Off to check wookie's blog so I can figure what to do with all this stuff!

Well, can't sleep so thought I'd check in. I didn't get anything sb or org done today (busy with grandson and cooking), but am hopeful for tomorrow.

Cristi, My typewriter is pretty old and it's really hard to find ribbon cartridges for it anymore, so if you buy a typewriter, make sure you buy some extra cartridges for it.
Your art journal sounds like a fun idea. Is this for a class or something that you work on whenever you feel "artsy"?

Susan, Darn that boy! I hope it's all a mistake and the girl was a cousin or something innocent. But I agree with Judy and Cristi: it's a part of who your DD is right now and years from now, she'll want to remember the nite just as it was. You're doing the smart thing to just put it aside for a little while. And DD is going to Italy! Wow, that's bound to make it a lot better! Hope she's doing all right tonite.

Amanda, Yep, that island sounds like a great place to scrap. The sounds of the ocean, the swaying palm fronds, maybe some steel drum music, and those frozen drinks. A frozen mudslide sounds really good...
Thanks for the info on IKEA; I'm really hoping for a trip to the fairly new one in Ohio (I think the closest to us) after the economy comes around again. No budgeting for extras right now, but I'll watch their website for the tax-free sale.

Mel, I'm jealous that you don't have to org your memorabilia! I don't know why I've saved all the stuff I have (and why I haven't saved other stuff that was probably more important), but I will try to get a handle on it this week!

Kris and Mel, Hope your all's Valentine making and goodie bag making was fun. You did eat some chocolate along the way, didn't you?

Judy and Leisa, Hope you both got more done today than I did!

Maria

Hey, Organizers!

UGH. Memorabilia. Not one of my best things. I'm, genetically, a pack-rat w memorabilia. My mom is the same way. I have way to figure out what to do with it all. Worse yet, is, I'll probably get all my mom's stuff at some point, as well. I'd better figure out something...quickly.

As for the QOTW: the only thing I really want is a week in DisneyWorld. Slowly, I have a sinking feeling that my trip this spring will not happen. Finances aren't all that great, and I may possibly get a better deal this fall, which by then, hopefully, the financial thing will have worked itself out. Time will tell.

Hoping to get more pages done this week, but my other son is sick now. I was hoping it would pass him by, but it didn't. I did manage to get a couple pages done on Saturday before I took the older one to the movies. Saw 'Gnomeo & Juliet', very cute movie. Highly entertaining.

Off to prep for Valentine's Day party at school. BBL!

hey! wait up, everyone! i'm coming too...

alright, so we were out riding the quad last night.

tonight, he took me to m's - discover card + tim holtz idea-ology = bad news!

needless to say, that was an expensive shopping trip and all i went into m's for was an iris case to put my valentine's/love-themed stuff into and to see if they had anymore pink baskets.

i'm still kind of thinking i want to do the color bin thing. lol... i'm still trying to find the perfect baskets too, so we stopped at target.

panera for dinner. aww! panera was where we met, just not that panera. lol...

have a nice night!

Happy V-Day everyone! DH got me some roses and a sweet card. We don't normal do gifts on V-Day. Our anniversary is in a few days. So we'll do something special then. DH also got a single rose for our dd. I thought that was really sweet. DD made cards for me and dh. And she made me a bracelet.

No scrapping or organizing today with the kids home. We went to the park and played tennis for a couple hours this afternoon. It was beautiful today - in the 70's and sunny. A huge change from the past couple of weeks.

Hey all! Happy Valentines Day! I know this makes me one of the techno-rocks and totally uncool. but I cant stand it being called V-day. Back in my navy days, that was code for a DH going under the knife and no longer reproducing. Also, V-day is so close to VD day that it is also not something that I want to celebrate.

PS- the Illusive Middle Child spelling- friendshift: two people who like one another and play together. Honestly did not know why it is wrong. that is how they spell it on his computer keys.

Kris & Judy-Hi!

Susan-do the LO! ..then put it aside. In 20 yrs she will look at it fondly. Possibly sooner if they make up when she gets back.

Maria- enjoy the cooking and the grandson!

Leisa-SO jealous of your 70s. You almost have that desserted island we are looking for! Just 10-15 more degrees and it would be perfect (as it hit a high of 51 and rained sideways all day here).

Cristi-not so sure on the color bin thing. Maybe because I have too much stuff. Good luck with it though (just might be my brain damage).

Lisa-we must have the same DNA! Pack-rat-itus is NOT a recessive gene I am afraid. LOL!

QOTW- The only things I would like for my SB room right now are a new task chair and an Eiffel Tower picture holder that's in the Ballards catalog. Neither of these are big ticket items, so should be doable.

I don't really have any memorabilia to store so this week I'm going to work on making a collage kit that I've had forever for my room.

Memorabilia - I was going to post that it's already organized, but it's not. I need to put it into a more usable and accessible system. So I have not read the prior posts but most definitely need to!

QOTW - Not really. I ordered a Big Shot yesterday because I the embossing capabilities. But there's nothing else really big that I need to get! (How neat that you're thinking a typewriter, Cristi. Who would have ever thought that they'd become a nostalgia item? LOL)

hi ladies!

leisa - yay for nice weather!

amanda - i didn't plan on sorting everything into color bins. lol... oh no! i love my mm embellishment shelf for flowers/ribbons...

pam - i think it'd make things so much easier when i just want a few lines of text, instead of setting up a word doc, you know?

oh, and - - - > i also bought a pink atg last night... 50% off coupon, ofcourse. i tried to tell s/o he could go back out to the car as i finishing up (so he wouldn't see the total), but he said he was going to see it tomorrow anyhow, so...

what's everyone else up to?

things have been so quiet around here, on the gs board as a whole, lately...

i'll be around this evening! i have to finish cleaning up.

Not really keeping up here with organizing or chatter. I have tonnes of memorabilia scattered about the house - mostly kids crafts & school stuff. Someday I'll sort & scan it. But not this week - I'll be happy if I get it corralled into one bin.

I broke my right wrist last week (you guessed it, I'm right-handed), Graham has a sinus infection and DH has a bad sore throat that he's had swabbed for strep. BIL & niece are arriving Friday for a ski holiday with DH. I find out tomorrow whether the bones are setting in the right position or if it needs to be pinned. So doubt I'll get much done for awhile. 2011 is not off to a great start. Oh yeah, we had a windstorm over the weekend blow a bunch of shingles off the house, so we'll have to see if we need a new roof this year. Were hoping to put that off a couple more years.

Cristi - how do you like your ATG? or have you had a chance to use it much? I want one, but would have to mail order. Would like to see one IRL before I commit.

Pam - A Big Shot is my other big want. But I don't use the Cricut that DH gave me for Christmas that much and I'm reluctant to get another die-cutter, even if I can sell it as an embosser.

Susan - sorry to hear about your DD's BF. Hope it was a mix up, but if not, better to find out now. Hope she has a fabulous time in Italy.

Amanda - make room for me on the island. I can pour Margaritas at least!

Leisa - that weather sounds fabulous! Last night we had a horrible wind storm and the temp dropped thirty degrees in a short period of time. Tomorrow it will be back up to 37!

Lydia -ouch! I hope that your wrist heals well! Sorry to hear about your roof! As for your Cricut perhaps you should give it some time???

Amanda - I need to make plane reservations for that island! Have a horrible headache again! DD is on the way to Italy and I am trying not to be a worried mother.....

Kris -how is business? Did you scrapbook the making Valentine's session with DS? How cute!

Crisann - yes I too am hiding from memorabilia! Love your layout and left some praise! It is gorgeous!

Everyone - thanks for all the support and advice on DDs break up with her boyfriend! I will eventually do the layout! I will hide it until she is ready!

As for scrapping got a bit of energy tonight along with a plan so I am hoping to get back there.

Well here it is Wednesday and I haven't touched one piece of memorabilia yet...I know...long journey, one step...

Cristi, What a nice trip to M's you had! Let us know how you like the ATG. And I hope your voice has returned.

Lisa, A trip to DisneyWorld sounds wonderful too. Maybe we can all swing by there on our way to Amanda's island. What a perfect world that would be...Hope your little one is feeling better.

Amanda, Too funny about VD day! Your "Love Me Do" card is so pretty - that pleated circle is really eye-catching.

Judy, have you been in your room yet?!

Leisa, Sounds like you have the best weather of anyone here. Too pretty to be inside sorting memorabilia!

daisymarie, At least you have a project for this week - your collage kit. I'm jealous that you don't have to fool with the dreaded memorabilia.

Pam, Have fun with your BigShot; I have an older BigKick and I really like it. I don't have many alpha dies, but I find myself using it more since we started our challenge here. (Thanks Cristi!)

Susan, I hope your daughter enjoys Italy so much that the "other thing" won't bother her so much. She's on the trip of a lifetime and deserves to enjoy every minute.

Lydia, You poor girl! You sure are being challenged so far this year. Hope you heal quickly and everything smooths out for you soon.

Maybe I'll tackle some of my m. today; just dread it... Have a great day everyone.
Maria

Amanda - Sorry for the V-day reference - HA!! I never thought of it your way. That does kinda take the love out of it. It's just something I got from my mom - she abbreviates everything. It really makes for some cryptic emails!

I am loving our warm weather. I had to turn on the ac yesterday. This is more like what I signed up for when we moved to TX - not the 20's and snow we had a couple of weeks ago.

Lydia - so sorry about your wrist along with all the other things you're having to deal with. It always seems that things hit all at once. Hope your week improves and your you get good news about your wrist - no surgery!

Susan - Hope dd is having in blast in Italy. That's bound to take her mind off bf. I agree that you should do the page with the bf, even if the relationship ends.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around my memorabilia. I have so much and it is scattered in several places and several storage types. I think I'll go take pictures of - at least I can say that I did something for the week.

Another bit of bed news from me. I went in for follow up x-rays today and I'm heading in to the OR to get a pin put in tonight. So much for gathering my memorabilia, eh? I did order a disk of my x-rays while I was there, so at least I got something to scrap out of it.

Drink some margaritas for me - they won't let me have anything to eat or drink until tomorrow.

Lydia - I am so sorry! But the image of you getting a disc with xrays on them is too funny! What a great attitude you have and I will keep you in my prayers.

Leisa - about that nice weather take a deep breath and enjoy it! I cannot wait for spring.

DD made it to Italy and emailed me that she arrived in Bella Italia safely at 6A our time! I haven't heard from her since....I will assume she is fine.

I am going to make it back to my room and away from the TV and the warm fireplace....yup I am going back there where there is only heat from a space heater!

I am still not progressing with my memorabilia!
however, I did get a layout done using some, and am off to lokdest DS's first ever wrestling match this afternoon (to pick up more memorabilia I am sure )

I just keep telling myself (while picturing our vacation on the island)
I will not end up on a hoarder TV Show
I will not end up on a hoarder TV Show
I will not end up on a hoarder TV Show

HELP! The new Hobby Lobby opened and yes I went there and yes I bought things..........................but I saved money. Thickers were a $1 cheaper! And I bought some TH stuff. No it is not put away yet.

Amanda - Omgosh your blog kills me! Too funny - buy stock in Iris's! I will be on Inner Hoarders with you. It's ok we need to be more transparent about our problems. Actually the extreme couponers were the ones using rubber maid and other clear containers to organize and store their items not the hoarders!

Crisann- lol I still have one more layout for Color or Is It Colour to do!! Me:TAV not even STARTED! Are you taking the paint class? Am seriously considering it since making a mess back in the room is so therapeutic!

Lydia - so sorry you will have to have surgery for your wrist, but funny that you got a cd of the x-rays. Hope everything goes well with the surgery!!

When ds broke his hand last fall, I took a camera with me to the dr's office. I took pictures of his hugely swollen hand, getting the cast on (and later getting it off), the x-rays on the lighted board, Bob - the guy who took the x-rays and put the cast on. I have plenty to scrap of our first broken bone!

Susan - I discovered HL coupons today! Not be an enabler, but... they have printable 40% coupons online this week. I might make a stop in there and see if there is anything that I have to have! Glad dd made it safely to Italy.

Cristi - I don't know how you manage to do all the classes that you do. I don't think I could keep up with all of them.

I did manage to take picture of my memorabilia. I'll try to post tomorrow. DD has to be at school at 6am for a field trip in the morning.

kris - i miss ya!

leisa - number one, i have no life. number two, i do it selectively - most of the time, i pick and choose what i do - may's classes, i sign up for just for the audios/handouts - love listening to her - love her style, but rarely participate much during the class. cathy z and ali e, i usually try to complete all the classwork, but rarely do it during class. basically, i have a system. lol...

susan - you make me laugh! you might be worse than i am. lol...

amanda - you will not end up on a hoarder tv show - say it w/ me.

lydia - i hope all goes well w/ your wrist/the pin they're putting in. best wishes for it to be as quick and painless as possible.

be around later, ladies! have a nice day!

Hi everyone, I can't believe this week is almost over already. I've been working all week on my MME challenge (will post pics later) haven't even looked at memorabilia yet(truth be told I don't want to because I don't know the solution yet)

QOTW: For my scraproom or other purchases? For my scraproom, paint and new trim (can't do that untill we buy our house though, hubby and I decided we weren't increasing the value until its ours).Other, well that's a very long list.

This week I have found it very hard to not spend on scrapbook supplies. Especially when I have to organize the scrapbook area at work, I saw stickle colors I didn't have, and my boss brought in TH stamp sets but only one of each, they'll be gone before March It is so hard to see the new stuff coming out of CHA and just "look" First week was good, second was OK, the last week was jitters and shaking. I just need to make it through this next week....

Sorry I didn't read through the posts very good I'll try to take more time for it later. Hope you're all doing well.

Kris - Glad you are busy with business! that is great!

Jen - I won't tell you to buy the stamps before they disappear.

Crisann - I think I am just going to take the paint class.

And with that I am off to meet my stamping friend at - you guessed it- Hobby Lobby. From there we are walking about a half block to AC Moore and then drive over across the street to Michaels. We have coupons in hand AND then best part we are going to Panera for lunch!!!

Will post on my new stash when I get back. I hope the trunk can hold all the bags and yes sign me up for extreme couponers!!

Creative Me is going to be busy today. The LSS asked me to kit some cards for them to sell...so instead of cleaning, I'll be designing!
