I'm going to start by copying some of the information that is already on the Master Thread:

HINTS AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING

Click on the magnifying glass below this thread's title to add it to your watch list. Then you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

If your question isn't answered in the how-to sections below, post your questions and frustrations here. I hope everyone will check in from time to time to answer questions.

Posting Links in Blog, Message Board, and Gallery

Broken or Missing Links: How to Find What You're Looking For

How to Find The List of Blogs Offering Challenges

In Case of a Two Pea Outage: Save the blog entries to the challenges that interest you the most on your computer. That way you'll have the instructions if Two Peas becomes overwhelmed with the increased traffic caused by our event. We sometimes lose contact with Two Peas on Opening Day for a little while. Just keep checking back. If you have saved some of the challenges, you'll be able to work on them while waiting for the board to revive. During our most recent events, Two Peas worked perfectly.

ABOUT POSTING A CHALLENGE IN YOUR BLOG

Don't let the word blog scare you away. We're not talking about a BLOG with all the bells and whistles. We're talking about a little blog. We all have one here on Two Peas. Posting there is much the same as posting in a thread.
1. At the top of the screen, just above the big title that says Message Board is a row that starts out with the word MY followed by the words Account, Content, Blog, etc.. Click on Blog.
2. Put in the title of your Challenge. Begin with WF11. That way all Winterfest Challenge Boxes will be together, and participants will be able to find them easily.
3. The next line says Post Type. Click on the down arrow, and select Challenge.
4. After selecting Challenge, another line will open up. This is where you put the starting date (03/05/11) and the ending date (03/13/11). Actually, when you go to the blank space to input the date, a calendar will open up and you can just click on the correct date. Note: It's never too late to start a challenge, so if you get an idea for a challenge in the middle of Winterfest, go ahead and post it. You can also post a challenge for just a day or two; just change the dates accordingly.
5. Now, in the box under "Post Content," just write out your challenge. If the board is slow, you might have to wait for the Content Box to open. Start out with the opening and closing dates because the dates you just submitted only tell Two Peas when to open and close your challenge's checkbox. The people reading your challenge won't see those dates.
6. If you posted samples in the gallery, you can link them here. Also it's a good idea to put in a link to your challenge thread.
7. When you post your challenge thread on the message board, include a link to your blog. Use the URL for your challenge, not for the opening page of the blog. If you are in the right place, you'll see "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." right above the box with your message. If you don't see that message, then click on the title of your challenge to take you to that page.

ABOUT POSTING IN THE GALLERY

1. To post your project, put your cursor over MEMBER GALLERY at the top of the screen. Select the option UPLOAD A NEW PROJECT. (The edit option is now in the left sidebar.)
2. Follow the step-by-step directions. Be sure to select the Stamping Gallery.
3. Give your project a title. For Winterfest 2011, put WF11 at the start of your title and include what challenge it's for. For example, WF11: Serendipity Challenge.
4. Be sure to describe your project in the comments section. If possible, include the source of your stamps. Tell what coloring medium and technique you used.
5. Once you have posted your project in the Stamping Gallery, go to the challenge thread and post a link to your gallery post; this will put the challenge thread back to the top of the board and assure that it doesn't drop out of sight. This step will keep the challenge threads circulating. The Challenge Thread is also the place to ask questions and to chat with other participants about the challenge.

Here are some questions that have come up in the past. The advice came from several different people.

Why isn't my post showing up in the gallery?
Two Peas says to allow 5-10 minutes for your post to show up. Usually, it takes seconds, but when a lot of people are posting at the same time like we do during our events, it may take longer.

The number under my badge doesn't reflect all the posts I've made.
This number doesn't update immediately. Also, it does not include comments you leave in the gallery.

I just noticed that my signature isn't showing and I can't see anyone else's either.
At the bottom of this thread, in the lower right corner, is a toggle that says "Show/Hide Signatures". Click it once and see if your siggies re-appear.

On the two blogs that I have been working on, I have uploaded the URL at the top of the page - these are the wrong URL's for the challenge. They are the URL for blog under "My account" and include not the right information.

Where do I find the URL to use?

Above the title "Message Boards," there's a row starting with the word "My" followed by account, content, blog, etc. Click on Blog. Now you're in your blog. If you have already posted your challenge, you'll see it there, BUT this is not the right place yet. Do not use the address that you see in the address bar at the top of the screen.

Click on the title of your challenge. This will take you to the the right place. Right above the box where you have posted your challenge, you should see the words "You are viewing a single post. Click here to visit ___'s Blog." If you see those words, you're in the right place.

Now you can highlight the address that's in the bar at the top of the screen. That's the one you use when linking to your blog.

I've created a challenge blog but can't figure out how to get the image of my sample card on it.

Your card has to be online somewhere, for example, in the Two Peas Gallery.

1. Go to your card and right click on it.
2. Select Properties from the window that opens, and click on that.
3. Put your cursor over the URL address (toward the center of the box) and highlight it.
4. Keeping your cursor over the highlighted address, right click again, and click on Copy from the list that opens up.

OK, almost done.

5. Go to your blog and click Edit. Find the icon for Image. Just move your cursor over the different icons at the top of the page above your message until you find the one that says Image, and click on it.
6. In the window that opens up, put your cursor in the section for the URL; right click again, and this time click on Paste from the list.
7. Either click OK or adjust the size of your card. I had to reduce the size of mine by half.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. It's easier to do than it is to read the directions.

I've noticed that everyone (except me) can post a link on their blog and give it a title so the entire URL doesn't show up, and the title just fits right in with the message--the way they do in message board posts.

How are you doing that? When I click on LINK, it opens a box and I can put the URL in, but there's no way to name it.

Yesterday when I did my blog I struggled with the same issue of the long and ugly links. I pea-mailed Cindi, who helped me. It is real easy:

1.First type the name of the link in your blog (like 'sample card'). That is, the title you want to give the link (the clickable words).
2.Highlight the word/s that should be clickable, then go to the link icon.
3.Put the URL into the little box. Click 'ok'. And magically the title you wrote in your blog becomes the link.

Deborah, thank you, thank you, thank you.

I copied and pasted Stamptoberfest's Trouble-Shooting Thread. I updated the links; I added to the list of questions asked which are in the second post; but I didn't change the information regarding dates and name of the event!

I hope it's ok now.

Just so you know something odd is happening to our praise counters-they are counting backwards at the moment. The above post says 2 and I have posted another 3 and now that last one on Anna-Karins post says 1 again. It doesn't matter to me but others may want to know if it is only their's acting up...so now they know.

Yes, I noticed the praise counters are not working properly too. I had 3 yesterday but even this morning it only showed 1. I left more "love" this morning too. Hmm? Wonder what it says now.

Also, my sample layout is not showing in my blog post. I added it properly but it still shows a red 'x'. Any ideas?

Hi, Patter!

When I look at your blog post, I see a link from your post to your sample. Your sample is also showing up fine underneath in the "Layouts Submitted to this Challenge" section.

However, if you want to put an image of your sample in your blog post, here are the steps.

1. Go to the gallery page with your sample on it.

2. Right click on the image and select Copy Image Location. This copies the url of just the image to your clipboard.

3. Go to your blog post and click Edit.

4. Position your cursor in the blog post where you want the image. Then click on the icon at the top that looks like a painting with a blue and orange splotch on it. It is in the top row, 4th from the right. This is for adding an image.

5. The Image Properties window appears. Position your cursor in the URL field. Press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V to paste the url from your clipboard. Then click OK.

Ta-dah! Your image should now show up. Save your blog post and you're good to go!

Hmmm ... The Pea Praise count seems to be working for me... I was at 6 and added some Praise and it went up.

Some of the newer challenges may not yet be hooked into the Pea Praise badge yet ... so you might not see it go up for a gallery item for a newly added challenge.

If anyone else sees this problem, please let us know! And consider PeaMailing Jamie Sorenson about it.

Got a gallery question. Is there a way to see all the WF11 gallery uploads without going to each individual challenge?

While I'm not having any problems uploading the pieces that Daria has scanned & sent in jpeg to me, I'm hoping there's a simple way to see all the WF11 pieces from all the challenges.

On another site I frequent, we have a separate 'album' for our party pieces. Do we have that @ 2Ps? Am I not seeing something right in front of me?

I posted a card in the gallery last night. It did not show up in the stamping gallery before I went to be and still this morning I am not seeing anything new since the black and white button card. It check my Peas account and I can view it there view it there.
Any ideas of what I should do?
Thanks bunches!...Jan

Daniel, I just went to the gallery and searched on 'WF11'. Everything submitted with that in the title showed up. Hopefully people are putting that in their titles or I will probably miss them. Eek!

Oh, and thanks Anne. I will try again.

Oh, and lastly (gracious), my comment count is still wrong as I have commented on more than 4 pieces. Hmm?

@Jan - The Gallery seems frozen to me, too. Nothing seems to have posted to the gallery since 9:30 last night.

I also search the gallery by WF11 to find the Winterfest stuff! So please use WF11 in your project titles or text!

I forgot to mention that the Pea Praise badge is not necessarily hooked up to all the challenges yet. So you may be leaving praise on some Winterfest projects (such as Deborah/Gram-pea's sample for WF11 Say What?) that hasn't yet been tied into the badge. I sent a note to Jamie Sorenson about it already.

Once the other challenges ARE hooked in, your Pea Praise for those challenges should get counted, even if you left your praise before that challenge got hooked in.

Anne, thank you for all the help.

I also noticed my Praise Badge number going down. I don't know what it is right now because I haven't looked, but last night I remember seeing a 6 and then it was 5 after I left some more praise.

While we are waiting for the Stamping Gallery to "unfreeze", the best way to see all of the Winterfest creations is to go to the Winterfest 2011 Master Thread and click on the BLOG link for each challenge.

Scroll to the bottom of each blog to see the layouts submitted so far. There are more submitted (that you can see on the blogs) than show up in the Stamping Gallery at the moment, even when searching the gallery by WF11.

All evening the gallery has had more issues...it will not completely upload before it crashes. The card I posted last night never showed up in the stamping gallery tonight although I continue to see it in my album and I have recent some comments.

The newest issue with the counter is that it decreases by one when I edit a post at this rate I will be in the negative numbers very soon LOL! New posts are not being counted this afternoon.

Hopeful all will be back to its proper functioning tomorrow.

I am also getting "Bad Gateway" for the Gallery. But, that could be because they are in the process of fixing it.

Just in case, I did turn in another Support Ticket for the "502 Bad Gateway" error message.

And, for some reason, my Pea Praise count has gone down. It was up to 16, now it shows 7?

Anne, you have two badges. The 7, now 9, is the regular badge. I don't know how they give points for that one. Mine is up to 5, but I've only posted one project. I have left a ton of comments on the message board--way more than five.

The praise badge is your 16. Check your profile page and see if it's there.

I had the same reaction when my I saw my 15 turned into a 5 this morning. Then I realized it was a different badge.

Hi Peas!

I wanted to touch on a few things mentioned in this thread.

As Anne mentioned, the gateway error has been corrected. Thanks for your patience!

Regarding badges, a couple things to keep in mind:

*If there was a challenge created AFTER about 11 am CST on Saturday and was not listed in djc/daria's original list of challenges on the master thread, I had not connected the challenge to the badge/pea praise badges. Therefore, the badges might not reflect your true count for praise and projects. If you'd like this corrected, let me know the count you believe you should have for the Winterfest badge and the Winterfest PeaPraiser badge in a PeaMail message. I am relying on members to peamail me their challenges if they want their challenges to be a part of the badge-earning criteria as I have to manually connect them.

*Also, certain pages on the Two Peas website are cached, meaning they do not update themselves in real time. Give these pages about 24 hours to update and reflect your counts.

Thanks!

Ah! The mystery of the number-changing badges is solved! They are DIFFERENT BADGES! It depends on which task you did most recently ... leave Praise or post to the gallery!

And special thanks to Jamie and everyone at Two Peas for their support during Winterfest!

When I was looking at all the beautiful cards today I saw that my one card was missing. It was the same at all the WF challenges I entered. I left a message but I don't know how it happened. Could I have done something myself? Well, it's not the end of the world but it's frustrating...
