Then is there anything I can do other than write "return to sender- no such person at address"?

It's only been one company that is sending the bill and the weird thing is that no one else but me or family has lived in this house. Nobody is sure who this person is.

Phone your local postmaster and also phone the company if you have a telephone number. If it REALLY bothers you, write the company back and ask that your address be removed from its mailing list because they are mailing it to someone else, but are using your mailing address.

I've called companies before, when we STILL get mail addressed to DH's last ex-wife. She never lived at this address, so we're clueless as to why or how she comes to use this addy as her own. I like to call the companies to inform them that she doesn't live here & to STOP sending anything addressed to her here. It works.

We get mail for our old neighbors. Only one & always the same one. A bank statement for one of their children.

They moved down the road. So, we drop it in their mailbox when we drive by. Last couple times, we wrote a note on the envelope hoping they would correct the address. Although, I don't know why it shows up in our box. It's their old address.

I got tired of dealing with it. So now I trash it. If it were that important, they would have corrected their address by now.

I'd do what you did about return to sender but if it keeps happening I'd just throw it away. That's what I've done if they were not neighbors that I knew.

I've lived here for 3.5 years and I'm still getting mail for the couple that lived here (over 5 years ago). For a while it was really bad, lots of judgements, etc. I even tried to call the collection companies and they ended up yelling at ME!!! I've also had ppl try to skip trace her and end up at my house harassing me. Very annoying.

They were meth addicts and were foreclosed on, so you can imagine what fine upstanding citizens they were.

the people before THEM (so it's been a lonnng time) still had one of their bills coming here. They live just up the road. I repeatedly asked if they would have their light bill changed - for some reason they had my address. Finally I tossed it. I felt bad, because I knew there might be a shut off, but it just wouldn't stop.

Funny, after that the bill stopped coming to my house.

I'm just PEAchy - thanks for askin'

It's a pain. I gave up and I just shred it.

I've lived here for 14 years. The house was vacant for 2 years before I bought it.

We randomly get mail for the last renter. Always collections stuff and junk mail. It goes in spurts...months with nothing and then stuff will start showing up again.

We still get some mail for a former resident - at least 7 years since we moved in and she wasn't the one we bought from.

My favourite is that my inlaws keep getting mail addressed to me at their house from the university I graduated from. DH went to the same school. I NEVER lived there and certainly never put their address down. And the mail is addressed in my maiden name! My parents also get the same mail addressed to me at their address.

I started getting collections letters for my ex a couple of years ago . . . and am still getting them. He hasn't lived in this house for almost 12 years; the account on which he is in collections is one he opened AFTER we divorced.

For a while, I tried returning to sender. I've tried calling the collections agency, but they won't talk to me since I'm not the deadbeat they're looking for. I've finally given up and started trashing the crap.

My XMIL's Penney's catalog and coupons come here. After repeatedly asking her to notify them I just rip out the coupons and trash the catalogs. It was better though when the coupons were $10 off a $10 purchase, now they are $10 off a $25 purchase. Guess I can't complain though.
