So you need a bigger scrapbook room? This is how I did it.

First we decided (dh and myself) that our carpeting needed replacing. So we are installing hardwood floors. Well then since we are pulling up the caret and kitchen floor and removing the baseboards, we might as well paint. Okay, well then since we have to empty out the family room/kitchen to get this done we should also add a backsplash behind the stove area.

I joked with dh and said "Well since we are doing all that and the room is empty of furniture, etc., my little scrapbook 'office' which is the size of a 1/2 bath could easily then be enlarged, right? All we have to do is knock down one wall and move the wall out. (our family room is huge and we have the 'space')....So dh called me at work and said let's do it. It shouldn't be that hard and I have a buddy who does the drywall stuff so all it would cost is some 2x4 and drywall.

So now I go from a teeny tiny space to a sorta tiny space!!! I am so flippin excited now.
---------------------
UPDATE:
Well we can't do it. Well we 'could' but the plumbing runs through this particular wall and it would just be to costly to do.. It went from an easy thing to hard in a day.

SO Plan B, is back to Plan A... either get rid of one of the kids or wait till they move out. Or I do like some of those husband ideas cause sometimes I do want to bury him out back! Well only sometimes. Anyways, it was a short lived dream.. at least I have my 'closet'

Your story reminds me of the children's book "If You Give a Pig a Pancake". lol! My DD loves that book.

I hope you enjoy your new space and be sure, of course, to post some pictures!! Although I have my own scrap space, I'd LOVE to be able to set my scrapbooking area in the family room, or close-by like that.

I thought you were gonna say "Get rid of one the kids"...LOL

But your way works too! I got my room when my oldest moved out...his choice not mine but he could never come back. I redid everything 3 days after he was gone...LOL

Enjoy, it is so much fun making and designing your own space.

When I read the title my first thought was, "Bury your husband out back?" but it sounds like yours is a keeper! Glad you didn't get rid of him after all!

Congratulations! Let us know how the project goes. Home remodeling can be such a nuisance, but not if a new scrap space is the result!

I was going to say kick one of the kids out of the house but this works better! Glad your husband is on board with your scrapping room!

Wow, some of the suggestions are harsh! LOL! But, way to go with accomplishing "mission creep," as they call a project that expands beyond its scope. I can't even get my DH to change out a faucet unless I break out the big guns (i.e., tears)

Enjoy planning & installing your new room, so happy for you!

Yay for you! Sounds like a fun project, and way to encorporate more space into it! I tried getting a room added on from my DH, and he said he hates add-ons, so I just have to be content with cleaning rearranging the current den... I would say it's a med. size space, but a huge project. Hope you are going to post pictures!

Now that my scraproom is done, I am actually kind of sad I don't have anything to plan right now

Sorry to hear it's not going to happen. Too bad we didn't live closer, my husband is a plumber he may have been able to help a scrappin sister out

Luckily plumbing is not an issue at my house, now electrical is a whole other issue!

Sorry that it didn't work out. I'm sure you'll find another solution in the future. Like, letting the kids camp in the closet while you take over their room...

So sorry about that darn plumbing getting in your way. I was wondering, though, you say your family room is really big, could you take over a corner of that room?

Well I 'do' have the closet still and it is easy to keep the mess out of sight.. I can just close the door. It's just a small space. I guess better than nothing.

Ya know I could make that teeny tiny closet a bedroom for the baby and then move my two teens into one room... You think that would fly?? Not to mention the two teens..one is a boy and one is a girl. HAHA.. I don't think they would live to see the age of 16, they would KILL each other.. (ummmmm do I see a plan in action? LOL)

ooh.. from "high" to "low" in one day.. that IS ia bummer.. sorry it didn't work out.. but your comments are so funny.. and you have a great sense of humor about it.. I take over the dining room, and I'm lucky that DH or kids never complain about the mess for a couple of days.. as long as we can eat... at some point...
