My baby girl is Amelia, we call her Milly. I love the name. She's 5 and we received a few Amelia Bedelia books when she was born, but not really since. Someone gave her an airplane keepsake in honor of Amelia Earhart. That's about all the famous Amelia references we've had. I don't think little kids really know about Amelia Earhart or Bedelia anymore.

Our Milly loves Team Umi Zumi and there is a Millie character on that show. One day she was watching and gushing over tv Millie so I mentioned that Millie is a nickname for Amelia and she's been Milly ever since. I wasn't really a big fan of Millie for a nickname but it's grown on me.

We chose Milly with a y because of the e. e. Cummings poem, Maggie and milly and Molly and may. Our older dd is Maggie. The worst thing about the name Milly so far is that autocorrect changes it to milky sometimes.

My MIL's mother was Mildred. When SIL had a daughter, they chose the variation of Mila (Meel-ah) to honor her.

I think that would be a cute nickname for Amelia, too.

I think Cecily is a beautiful name. People will get used to it and grow to love it.

i've never heard of those nicknames for Violet, before.....just for Vivian.

Funny - my Violet is Viv or Vivi all the time. But her middle name also begins with a V, so it's more a pronunciation of V.V.

I also love Felicity. It's another name that made my baby list four times. Along with Fiona, Daphne and Chloe (which got nixed due to popularity). I've also always considered Erica, which is the Latin name for heather, as well as the feminine of my BIL's name.

Maybe you'll have a baby name sign. When I was pregnant with Violet, I went to the mall to buy my DS a birthday present. They were having an African violet exhibit - one day after I'd added Violet to my list. Clearly a sign.

Amelia is the only one on the list I kind of like. But not 'Millie'- that was George and Barbara Bush's dog, right? I think 'Mia' is a cute nickname for Amelia.

Oh, I could definitely see it in that case. Cute!

I'll add my 2 cents worth Love all your names - I like Celia or Cecilia better than Cicily. Personally, I don't line names that end in y, nicknames or shortened versions of names; ie Jimmy for James, Kate for Katherine, so I would not shorten any of your names.

They are stand alone wonderfully.

I love your name choices!

I voted for Amelia.

My youngest is named Amelia, and we call her Mollie.

Maybe that would be a compromise for you? There are VERY few Mollie's with an "ie".

When we chose the spelling of her nickname, our older daughter (Abigail) was nicknamed Abbie, so that influenced how we spelled Mollie. Then, Abbie went to kindergarten and started spelling her name Abby-- cause it was shorter. I personally like both names better with a "y" ending, but my husband was all up in arms about Abigail and Amelia not having a "y" so we had to do "ie". Weird! Now my Mollie is in kindergarten, and of course was listed as Amelia on the class list. When we went to school to meet her teacher, I told her that we called our daughter "Mollie-with-an-ie" , and she laughed and told me that her oldest daughter is called "Lollie" for Laura-Lee.

Our fifth, and final baby, was going to be Molly Anne. I really like the name Molly. Instead we have an Evan Scott.

Not on your list, but a little Girl Scout named Allegra just dropped off GS cookies and I LOVE her name.

Living in a purple house - I love Violet.... BUT, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear it is the original Willy Wonka movie. " Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!" When the chubby girl eats the gum and the oompa loompas have to "juice" her.

So.... I vote for Molly. It's such a sweet name.

Is that because you've experienced relief from your allergy symptoms?

You can't argue with popularity. Well, you could, but you'd be wrong.

It's unfortunate that they decided to name the medicine that, because it is a pretty name.

I love Amelia (would be my 1st choice out of the 4), but hate Millie.

Really like both Violet and Molly.

Cecily - I think it's pretty, but I think people are going to annoy you a lot by thinking it's Sicily or Cecilia or Cecile...just because those are heard a lot more often than Cecily. At least for me. I've never heard of Cecily before. And it will get misspelled a lot too. If that's something that would bug you, I'd skip it.

So I voted for Violet, because I hate the nickname Millie so that knocked out my Amelia vote. And I like Violet a little better than Molly, so I went with that. But really I think they are all pretty.

Same here, that's why I didn't vote. Amelia Earhart was an amazing woman.
