oh...I am so behind already!

The past few weeks have been so busy and some not so great unexpected news has come up and all my bright ideas for a great start have fallen apart already! I am hoping to finish weeks 1 and 2 on Sunday though and post more details then!

All your dreaming is getting me thinking though!

LoveRibbons- yes I was logged onto live with Prima, I did answer you but the chat kept going so fast, its always fun to see the same people in different places, it feels like you're connected to them a little bit more

Unfortunately I had to bring DS sleepover stuff and missed the last bit if it. I plan to watch again tomorrow and maybe make the mini

So yesterday I invited a friend over to scrap together and she had no problem telling me I didn't need anymore supplies

While she was there someone I know called me and gave me a heads up on copics on sale, needless to say I didn't heed her advice I am thoroughly adicted to spending on this hobby. Will I ever have enough?

i've also been eyeing a second kit club, but i'm not sure how that's going to go over on the homefront.

Does the size of you stash hinder your creativity?

WHAT? I original answered no, I could never find anything, yada, yada, yada. After I read some other posts, I realized, uh, yeah, kinda. It wasn't so much the size of the stash, but the organization of the stash. The size of the stash grew more quickly that the storage of the stash, thus creating the problem. So organize the stash, and I don't think it will hinder creativity in the least bit.

On with the challenge!

Jen - it was good to see someone I knew in there and yes that chat does move SOOOOOO fast! I will be in on Monday's class too with Julie. I am taking her sewing class and loving it. Please post your book! I have a book like that but it is just in a Target notebook lol!

Judy - how is the storm clean-up going?

Crisann - what did you buy? I stopped in at Marshall's and walked out with a few more American Crafts kits for $1.99 worth it for just the Thickers set that is in each one!!!

Ugh I cannot remember anyone else's name! But loved your posts about stash and cannot believe someone would say that to someone else!!! Poor Jen! My friend comes over a lot and never says a thing because she has more than I do

I am so bad that I planned on going to a scrapbook store in London but never got there so i have sent DD several emergency emails to get over there and purchase some items only available over in there or in Australia before she sets foot on that plane on the 23rd

How is everyone else doing? I'm going to get up in my area today! Even if I have to velcro some kids to the wall, LOL! I'm actually thinking of rearranging again. Which is ridiculous because it works fine the way it is.

Hey, everyone! Just got back from Orlando last night...had a great time BUT I think I might have herniated a disk on my last roller coaster ride! SOOOO...I am sitting here debating whether or not to go to the hospital....in a LOT of pain. Looks like my organizing will be delayed a bit...UGH!

My answer to the QOTW is "No". Because I don't really have a very big stash, at least not compared to most of you! I am a fairly simple scrapper, and I tend to just buy what I need once I decide what I'm scrapping. What I do have trouble with is patterned paper. I have a good amount, but no organization whatsoever. So I tend to just use solid cardstock for a lot of my LOs. I'm hoping this challenge will help change that!

I thought about what the ScrapFairy might bring me to improve my space. What I envision would be a space closer to my family "action" (right now I'm up in the bonus room), with a cabinet I could close when I needed to "tidy up". One of those Scrapboxes (I think that's what they're called) would actually be perfect, because I don't need any more space than that for my stash. But I don't think DH would love the cost!!

I love reading everyone's ideas and wishes! Hope some of them come true over the next weeks of the challenge!

I promise, I will get better at posting ... one of these days

Beth - That sounds really painful!! You should probably get is checked out.

Jen - That book is AWESOME!!! I'm totally copying that idea as well!!

Cristi - I'm curious too ... what did you buy?? So he's away on training again?? How's the job going??

Speaking of jobs, because I'm not busy enough building the consulting business , I decided to get a full time job as well. I need some more experience in Health & Saftey so this will help!! The good thing is I can probably sneak on once or twice seeing as I'll be spending more time actually at a desk for a change

ok, so...

kris - s/o still has something like, maybe, 8 weeks of training. blah... he likes it. i still have a love/hate relationship w/ it, ofcourse. i get bored and lonely. we're going into the last week of this particular job, then he goes on a job that's home everyday, but over an hour from here, then he goes back to a traveling job for another 3 weeks.

susan/kris - what did i buy?

the evening i went to big lots, i got 2 cuttlebug dies - a male sign and a female sign, some misc. stickers and rub-ons, and a page kit that i thought was cute.

last night, i finally signed up for the little black dress kit club - got their jan. "sweet bravery" kit and, ofcourse, their april "life... be still" kit.

today, went to j's and got the dcwv mariposa stack and some mariposa stickers/rub-ons. oh, and i got some other rub-ons as well.

also, went to jcp and got a tankini. lol... needed a new swimsuit, so...

can you tell what i do for entertainment when he's gone?

i so want to sign up for christy tomlinson's she art workshop. i also wanted to sign up for soul restoration, but it's a bit late for that now. besides, i know what my track record's like w/ classes - my follow-through leaves alot to be desired...

have a nice evening, ladies!

OMG I just lost my post. I spent like 20 minutes. This is such an inspiration killer. Anyways!!!
My stash affecs my creativity. I've been working on getting rid of tuff I don't use and that is why I decided to do this challenge.

In my Perfect Scrapbook room:
I have a big table. All my paper accents and everything are group by collections. there is a place where I can use my slice and my paper cuttin without moving stuff around. My letters are all in one place no matter ther medium. I have a awesome, portable place or my tools. I also have a inspirationl board in the wall where I have pictures, layouts...etc.

My ugly sad corner:
ps ; My other lost post was way better

Just stopping in to say hi before next week's thread goes up. (That Cristi, she's always on the ball!) It's been a really busy week so I haven't been able to keep up with all of your posts, but did look at Jen's "Keeping Track" book. Jen, I'll have to copy this too, but mine will look no where near as good as yours!
And that scrap fairy STILL hasn't brought me the Expedit I wished for last round (I know how busy she must be, but I was hoping that she'd make a stop here in hillbilly country.) This round, I think I'll wish for making myself sb more and use up more paper and supplies so I won't have such a storage problem.
Hope everyone is doing OK - Spring is finally here!
Maria

P.S. Hope everyone has settled in at your house Amanda.

Amanda - yes a roomba that cleans AND organizes would be quite the invention! How are you adapting to the additional bodies in the house?? My MIL and then 12 year old BIL have lived with us on and off for several years and it can be an adjustment for everyone.

Jen - love your book! You are making one for everyone in this challenge, right?

Niko - I am constantly deleting my own posts and closing windows after typing a book. I hate it when that happens. Your scrap corner looks like a great space to work with. I like your shelves. Get ready to get to work next week!

Niko- I am so bad that I end up composing in MS word then cutting and pasting so that I dont lose it!

Jen-We are in the same boat with needing stuff...but I have DH trained. I was working at LSS today, and saw woodgrain Thickers, so being a good (and currently on a budget) wife, I call DH and ask if I should get the brown ones for camping LOs. He goes Brown? are they in other colors...you probably should get one of each. Gotta get em trained

Amanda - Way to get DH on board And Woodgrain thickers!??!?! O.M.G. those would be perfect for so many things!!! Can't wait until I see them up here How's the full house?? Are you guys settling into a rhythm now??

Cristi - It definitely sounds like a job you have to be super flexile for Well, at least it's no longer the middle of winter and feeding the heater shouldn't be too bad, right??

Hey Susan!! I missed your London trip, was it as wonderful as you expected?? So can you "officially" spend money again?? LOL

Speaking of J's, DH and I went to Buffalo last week and can I just say how jealous I am that you have a J's!?!?! WOW! And the day we were there, they had a ton of scrappy stuff on sale ... I think I spent $30 (including some Easter things for the babies in the family), but I bought a DCWV paper pack for $10 and a bunch of stickers and things that were 40% off.

I will apologize to the newbies ... I AM really chatty, but terrible with names... I'll figure you all out, just give me a couple of weeks

I WANT Woodgrain thickers now!! Thanks, Amanda...enabler Luv ya!

So DH told DS he has to get his room in order before our trip...(hello, couldn't you have told him this BEFORE spring break started, rather than wait til today, as school resumes tomorrow!)...so he's in there bawling that he has to give away HIS stuff. I tried to tell him its for kids less fortunate for him, and that he will have NEW things to put in its place. Then, he spun the whole thing and asked why I don't have to get my room in order. OH, MY! I need to set a better example, so after I help him with his stuff, I'll be sure to get to mine. I SOOOO need an intervention!!

And a big ol' cup of Starbucks!!

Hope everyone is ready for the big 'clean slate'... I feel the need to do just that

question of the week: do you think the size of your stash affects your creativity?

I don't think it really affects my creativity as much as it takes me a bazillion times longer to decide on what I want. If I had a more limited selection or better access to what I do have I think the selection process will be easier. I spend most the time trying to FIND what I need... or always thinking... "now where did I put that, I know I have it somewhere"

1) Read the week 2 brainstorming post (done).
2) Scrap Fairy Exercise -- I want something out of a Pottery Barn catalogue. Shabby Chic, comfy couch and lots of detail and texture. I actually like lots of visual stimulation and the cluttered look. As long as things are interesting to look at. I like antique furniture, vintage finds, and the weathered & worn look. Beadboard rocks my world. I'd really like a space to myself (in the future maybe), with a real studio feel. A place that inspires creativity. A place that says "Art is made here."

In reality, I currently share my space with my 4yo DD, who uses more than half the room as a play room. And my husband wants me to make the room even more 'multi-functional' as he puts it. He wants the older kids to be able to do their homework in there, watch TV, etc. etc. He really hates that I use most of my space for scrap storage. He thinks I should put all that stuff in my closet and just use my space for projects in progress. I'm just not sure how that will work. My closet is already full and I do store some scrap stuff in there. Anyway, I'm trying not to be closed-minded, but hey, I'm only human...

3) Post 'before' photos YIKES -- I'll have to do that tomorrow -- that storm system seems to be moving across the country. Looks like THE BIG ONE hit my room.
4) Answer QOTW: Do you think the size of your stash affects your creativity? YES, but in a good way. I really thrive on variety and like to have lots of options (and every tool known to man, woman & child). My main problem is too much stuff for my space, and feeling crowded and disorganized. It seems like every time I get my space organized, I go out and get more stuff which doesn't fit. So I constantly need to re-organize. I think I need to plan my space with room to grow. Or just stop buying? Naw.... That WON'T happen (just sayin') .

Okay, ladies, I've been MIA the past week since it was spring break & we were on vacation, so I'm posting my space audit here. Hope that's okay. Cristi, if you'd rather us post in the previous week's thread, please let me know and I'll delete this post from here & add it to last week's thread. TIA

WORKS
- Good light
- Can entertain my 4-year-old while scrapping since my room doubles as a play room (and it is so cute to hear her humming and role playing while I scrap)
- Inks & Stamp Tools
- Embossing supplies
- Alcohol inks
- Punches
- Eyelets, brads and charms
- Metal working supplies
- Cardstock (by color and size)
- Ribbon (by color)

DOESN'T WORK
- How to incorporate new purchases (usually end up just piled on my table, the floor or my closet)
- Need to incorporate a computer & printer into room (for photos, hybrid projects & electronic die cutter) so I spend more time scrapping in my scrap room and not dragging everything downstairs to the office when I have a big project
- Stamps (have a couple systems I like, but don't have room to grow)
- I like having my sewing machine set up but it takes up a lot of real estate
- Unfinished projects & Works in progress (I just have too many of these )
- Need to clear off my table during and between projects
- Too many patterned paper stacks!!!
- Flowers
- Embellishments in general
- How to make the space more 'multi-functional' like my hubby wants

It seems like I have a couple themes that keep recurring: 1) I keep 'outgrowing' my storage solutions (I think I'm discovering a shopping problem, not a storage problem ), and 2) I need to balance my need for pretty with my need for functional.

Well now since we've started on week 3, I figured it was time to jot something down for week 2!

My stash definitely hinders my creativity either because I can't find anything because I have too much, or because I have too many choices I can't decide on what I want and I'll hang it up. A lot of times I'll just grab a kit or two, some pics and scrap without even diving into my stash--I have a lot of unused stuff!

My Scrap Fairy--My dream room would have a lot of wood shelving and racks for paper, embellies in containers organized by type and color, a nice, big, clean space to scrap with my go-to tools perhaps organized in one of those carousel things, I love those! Nice soft colors, nothing too bright.

Brainstorming--I really need to go through and do a big purge, getting rid of all those things I bought on impulse but will never use, donating PP and old kits I had to have to a womens shelter, hospital, or something like that. Once my stash is manageable with things I will actually use I need to divide them into like catergories (ribbon, flowers, bling, buttons, etc), and I'd love one of those wicker baskets for my various minibooks that haven't been done yet (because they're buried under stuff!) I need to find some sort of organizational storage for my PP and kits, perhaps some hanging files or some more vertical cropper hopppers like I currently use for my CS.

Stash-size definitely affects my productivity! I love having choices available, but once I cross-over a certain point, too much to choose from is overwhelming. Not sure exactly where that point is ... but I've seriously crossed the line. My stash is small compared to most, but it's obviously too much for me.

I've put myself on a spending freeze (except for adhesive and photo printing) until I make it all the way through this challenge. And I'm trying to come up with a motivational "splurge" for crossing the finish line.
