I gave myself a mani with the CND shellac products last week and am LOVING the results. I think I want to get some more polish colors. has any one tried the less expensive Bluesky shellac colors? Do they preform as well as the CND brand? Thanks

I can't imagine Bluesky is actually Shellac. Shellac is a product exclusive to CND. There are many other UV cured gel polishes available, but they are NOT Shellac. Many of them do not perform the same as Shellac either, whether they claim to or not.
I have tried other brands (OPI Axxiom and Gelish) of the 'no chip' polishes and Shellac is the best for me. The others seem to have more of a gel base that is quite drying to the natural nail, when Shellac leaves your natural nails healthy. Most other brands suggest slight filing or buffing of the natural nail to remove the shine before application, as far as I know, CND Shellac is the only one that doesn't require that process.
However, right now, I have on the Shellac base and top coat with a Gelish color in between. My nail tech and I decided to give it a try and see what happened. Gelish alone isn't damaging, but takes quite a bit longer to remove than the Shellac. So, my nail tech was worried about needing to schedule more time for Gelish manicures. By using this combo, the polish comes right off in just a few minutes.
My nail tech is a very good friend and we have been talking a lot about all of the other brands on the market. So far, Shellac is the one she has the most success with all around. She is VERY conscious of keeping the natural nail healthy (she does no acrylics, gels or anything else) so this is what she offers.
Personally, I'd be very leery of trying it. |
