On the right side of rib cage it hurts. I am not aware of a time that I injured it so I am a little stumped. It has hurt for about 10 days and isn't feeling any better. It feels like a bruised rib (I haven't ever had one but it is just below the surface) or a pulled muscle. Like I said I am not aware of injuring myself so it seems unlikely that it could be those things. It feels crazy to go to the Dr. because it is just so vague and not intense but it does hurt and is a nagging pain that doesn't seem to be going away. A dull ache, not intense and just wondering if you have any ideas what else could cause such a pain.

It could be your gallbladder, an ulcer, gastric reflux... better to go to the Dr., see what it is for sure and get it treated rather than let it go and have the problem (potentially) get worse.

Galbladder was removed and no problems there 15 years ago.

Liver....yikes I don't know. Off to look it up. Thanks!

Thecurl- You know about a month ago I was under extreme stress with a few different life events and I believed I had acid reflux or heart burn for several days. It was bad and I could barely eat. It did die down and I have been better for a couple weeks no. It I don' t know anything about ulcers. That gives me something to go research.

Have you been sick, at all? Pain in either side can be pneumonia, but I would think that after 10 days, you would probably have had to go to the doc for the symptoms. That's weird. I hope it goes away soon!

If I remember you are a gastric bypass patient right? We are more prone to ulcers so you may want to get that checked out before it gets worse. I was told that any pain should be carefully monitored after RNY.
Hopefully it is nothing and will feel better soon. Better to be safe than sorry though!

Blood clot in the lung. My BIL recently (in the last month) was in the hospital 2x for it. He's 34.

In his case he thought he pulled a muscle or something during a foot chase (he's a cop) and after several days it got to hurting REALLY bad and he ended up going to the ER.

do justice, love mercy

Rib out of place was my thought, too. A couple visits to the chiropractor fixed it right up for me.

That said, if it's been ten days and not improving, I would get checked out. After ten days it probably isn't a life threatening issue, but is probably really annoying and don't you want it to go away?

Does it hurt in synch with your breathing? I had an infection of the muscles between my ribs...odd I know....and that hurt as I took breaths.

Last year I was diagnosed with Costochondritis. I really thought I had either pneumonia or I was having a heart attack. It HURT. My friend was just diagnosed with it this past summer and it took her a couple weeks before the pain finally subsided. For her she felt like she had pulled a muscle really bad through her ribs. It wasn't THAT bad for me it didn't last nearly as long but it hurt none the less. I'd make a call to the DR....I felt the same way as you but finally couldn't stand it anymore and went. Good luck!

Jo-Hmmm, that is a thought. I will have to look up some info on ulcers. Thanks!

Gar-It doesn't hurt with my breathing. Hoping it isn't an infection.

Claire-I haven't been sick at all.

Hawkmoon and Sue-I will take a peek at that and see if more of it lines up.

Sounds like a call to the Dr. might not be out of line. Thanks!

I am grateful it isn't horrible pain. But at this point I am wondering why it hasn't gone away too.

Thanks, peas!

I was diagnosed with Costochondritis about a month ago. Ended up in the E.R, absolutely convinced I was having a Heart Attack.

I'm just now getting to a point I can move around comfortably.

I'm going to encourage you to make a Doctor appointment. I've been thru more than my fair share medically, & the Costochondritis scared me pretty badly. Everyone I've talked to since, all got to the feeling of heart attack point, & in the E.R.
