I decided to do Elf on the Shelf this year for the first time, for my daughters who are 8 and 6. I was wondering your EOTS arrived the first time? In a box from the North Pole? I see plenty of ideas out there for daily elf activities, but nothing for how he arrives. I would love to hear what everyone has done? TIA!

Ours is named Wilbur and came today. He sent a note, a new Christmas ornament for my little girl (5) and little boy (1), along with the book. He somehow managed to get in the van and rolled the car seats with toilet paper and was hanging from the DVD player They were thrilled!

Our Elf just showed up last year on Thanksgiving night. He was sitting on the steps to the bedrooms at bedtime. He had a letter from Santa explaining things.

This year, his 2nd year at our house, he showed up at the movies yesterday of ALL PLACES!!! We were so surprised when we went to see the muppets yesterday and went out to the concession stand, and they said someone had been there waiting for us all day! We were so excited to see him

Kathie, a little elf comes from the North Pole to keep an eye on things and create a little magic before Christmas. Each night he goes back to the North Pole and comes back before morning and hides in a new place. You can search threads and see all the stuff our elves got into last year. My elf even made himself a facebook page.

Ours arrive on December 10th, 2 weeks before Christmas.

The first time they came, they were in a box wrapped in paper that said, "Special Delivery from the North Pole." The box came while the girls were sleeping, and the elves were inside and had brought their favorite blankets with them.

Santa included a letter describing the elves names and personalities. Cocoa works at one of the hot chocolate stations in his workshop. Flip works in the reindeer barn as a groomer. We were also warned that both elves could be pretty mischievous. Because Cocoa worked in the workshop, she could bring little trinkets and things, and Flip could tell the reindeer anything our oldest daughter wanted to tell them.

We have never read the "Elf on a Shelf" books but have read about them enough to get the general idea and have crafted the experience for our girls specifically. We allow the girls to touch the elves. Each night our oldest tucks them into a doll bunkbed we had, and on Christmas Eve, she sits with them and watches Santa's journey on Norad.

This year, they'll show up after a morning breakfast at McDonald's. Who knows what trouble they'll get into. Luckily, it's just for two weeks. Have fun with it, and make the experience your own. It can be a great tradition.

My Elf made his first appearance yesterday on the doorstep with a letter from Santa and some PJ's. Our son is too young to remember this at 16 months but, he already was pointing at him and trying to talk to him last night....

We named ours Harvey... I am sure next year he will be more interactive but, we are going to use a different Elf each year and the others as the years go on will be displayed on the Mantle... The new elf and the old elf will show up at the same time with a letter about how they sent a new elf because the previous one had so much fun the year before and wanted to stay in our home
