For those of us on the fence, let's see your projects. I have the cricut and lots of cartridges. I'm wanting to know if you can get the layers with the silhouette?

I just purchased the Cameo and I LOVE it! I had a Cricut and didn't want to continue buying cartridges, so I sold it. I'm so excited about being able to create my own designs!

Here are 2 projects that I recently created with my Cameo:

Pear Card

Very nice cards. I hate to give up cartriges such as Kate's ABC's. Is it possible to use some of cricuts images with the cameo?

I've had my Silhouette for about a month now and can't seem to make anything WITHOUT using it in some form or another! It's so fun & easy to customize images.

Here are a couple of my favorite projects so far:

I would also recommend downloading the software and checking out the store. The images are awesome. They also sell fonts and patterns, for the print and cut feature.

I have a cricut and gypsy with a ton of cartridges, but never use it anymore, since getting my Silhouette. I am waiting for the Cameo to arrive.

Many of the images have layers. Unlike the cricut, where you have to select the layers separately, the image comes with all the layers you need.

Julie did you use patterned paper on the calendar or is that the print & cut feature?

It's all patterned paper/screen prints/cardstock (links on my blog.) I've just recently tried the print & cut feature & it's really cool! I just try to conserve my ink as much as I can.

Wonderful Cameo projects Amy and Julie so glad you shared them with us!

I forgot to answer pepper's original question about layers. Some of the files that you can purchase come with layers already in them. You can also easily create layers in any of your files by using the OFFSET feature. This will automatically create a background layer.

Thanks Jackie!
And there are ways to learn lines on and off if you want them to cut or not cut. It is the little pair of scissors in the upper right hand corner of Studio. These are the cut line settings.

I don't have a ton of projects completed with my Cameo yet (it's only a few weeks old) but there are elements on each of these projects that have Cameo cuts. Most of these are scrapbook pages but I just used my Cameo to cut vinyl for the first time last night with great results. I am loving this machine now.

I just got my cameo yesterday.I made these today. Love the print and cut. I have both the the Cricut Expression, and the E2. The cameo cuts circles around them. Literally circles, lol! My Cricuts cut circles horribly. The cameo cuts them perfect! I'm really excited about this machine. I will probably end up selling my E2, and keep my regular Expression to use with my carts and MTC.
Can someone help with postic the photos.Keep copying link for forums from photobucket but they won't post.

The code needs to have the whole word image in it, rather than just the img.

The easiest way to add them is to copy the image url (starts with http and will end with either jpg, gif or png) and then when you go to post, click below the text box where it says image, a window will pop up, you paste the url in there, and click OK.

I totally agree with you about the Cameo cutting perfect circles. One of my very first cuts was to see how it would cut tiny circles. In the card below I cut out a panel (background) of circles and then attached it directly onto the same color cardbase to get a subtle embossed look.

Here is the card:
Wishing You Reindeer

On the left column of my blog are my categories and if you click on Silhouette Cameo you will see the other projects I have made using the Cameo.

This is a great thread, love seeing what everyone is creating with their Cameos!

Heres a few of my projects:

This is a 5x7 frame. This I designed myself.

This is the little owl treat box in the store.

I took a 8x10 frame with a photograph, and added this design on the bottom. The design is from the store and I used offset I believe for the yellow patterned paper.

And Jackie, I wanted to say I added your cards are absolutely fabulous!! I added you to my googlereader.

Gale can you do that from a pic you already have uploaded on your blog?
You should be able to. Right click on the picture and select "copy image location" if you use firefox or if you use Internet explorer right click and select "properties" and then copy the part where it says "address (URL)". Go to the text box you're posting in and click on image, paste the address in, and click ok. As long as the address has an image type at the end (.jpg, .gif or .png) it should post as an image.

Just got a Cameo for my birthday last weekend, woohoo!!! I have an original Silhouette already, so I'm familiar with how it worked, but I love that I can use 12x12, if not for large pieces, but just to cut more efficiently. I used it for Tim Holtz' tag#3 to cut 4 pieces of 5x7 cardstock, subway art style.

Talk about small & intricate designs! I just cut these out today and I have to share. This blows anything my Cricut could have ever done out of the water.

I placed a pen by this snowflake so you can see how small it is and how intricate the cut is on the inside.

I think the lines on the above picture aren't more than 1/16 of an inch thick. Amazing!

All I can say is wow to all the creative people using the cameo...I have the cricut E2..I have been eyeing up the cameo for sometime now...I just wanted to see if anyone uses MTC or SCAL and which one is eaier...I just purchased MTC, now I need to get a new cutter and I think Ill be ordering a cameo and wrapping it up and putting it under the tree for xmas...my hubby said to order it because he doesnt know what to get me... my next thought is to just keep my E2 because I do like my cartridges...but I wont have to buy anymore... I have a friend that has a gypsy for sale with 40 cartridges uploaded on it...debating on that also...

nicholecobe, I don't know if you've been to Jins blog. She just got a Cameo and uses it with MTC. She gives a ton of hints to use MTC with the Cameo.

She has pretty much used every cutter on the market and gives her unbiased reviews on them all, including the E.

She has a FANTASTIC blog. I recommend her to all Silhouette users.
