I gave up LONG AGO on trying to read that MB over there....

Like the binder idea. For my journal, I'm thinking about dividing it into the 12 categories and making my lists for layout ideas in there. My bin is just holding photos right now and memorabilia.

I didn't do a LO on each topic - I did 12 LO's that spoke to me.

I think it's a good idea to do just whatever LO's you want, I'm not sure what the rest of mine will be, have completed an an everyday life & people one & am working on an inspiration one, then I'm not sure what I may do next.

I think I will use the journal to record my ideas-it may have a journaling piece for a layout or just the idea for the layout. I just can't decide if I should organize the journal in some way first.

Are you using the triggers at all?

I'm loving Twelve!

I've been dutifully recording ideas, notes, photography needs, whatever in my Twelve notebook or the little compendium. I wasn't doing too much with the inspiration file until this weekend, when I sat down with my photos and started to pull connections out for future layouts- mostly focusing on those topics that I was having a hard time finding something to scrap on. (I only did 6 for January, but I still feel accomplished!)

I did do a "fun" topic for January, on my recet favoritest TV show, Sherlock Holmes

I have used the journal to write down our homework, I have done the 12 double page layouts, like penny I did the ones that spoke to me and kind of put them into one of the 12 categories.

I was kind of thinking the same idea ... maybe making tabs for each of the sections or something so I can tell where each topic starts.

Great idea on the TV show for FUN, maybe I'll do a list of my "must see TV shows or something ... thanks for the idea.

My inspiration bin has been an epic fail, too. It's just too dang small. I have a large wooden crate under my sb desk that I put my page kits in (in various stages of completedness). I think I'm just going to continue with that - using it as my big inspiration file and keeping a list.

I did more than 12 pages in January, but didn't hit all the topics. I'm okay with that. I seemed to get more inspiration for the topic that were discussed in detail each week. I figure by the end of the whole 12 weeks it will all even out.

The favorite photo was totally not what I was expecting. I wish she didn't wait until this week to talk about it. It was kind of a slow picture month here and I didn't really save too many scraps from completed projects.

I agree that January is a tough photo month. I am having *TO WORK* to find a photo I love. I think mine is going to end up being a photo I took of my husband on the front porch. OR it could be a photo of the 4 of us.

I just watched the week 5 video. She is so funny on the videos. And then that made me realize that I didn't watch week 4. So I'm doing that now. While I type. Ha.

I finished 12 layouts. For FUN, I did a page about my boys, and I did a bunch of my favorite techniques: misting, stitching, stamping, etc.

I'm using the journaling to respond to the daily emails and keep track of other stuff. I have a code to keep track of my random entries, which are Twelve, Creative Ideas, Page Ideas, Quotations (those inspire me a lot), and Organization.

My inspiration file will be restocked as I print pictures. It's small, but if I stock as I print, then it should be OK.

I love the class. I go by Jennifer Larson there, my full name.

I managed to do 12 layouts in January, one in each category. Fun was the hardest, but I think it will be a favorite... It still needs me to add the white lines around the edges of the page and I fear I will mess up!
I didn't get my journal until late and it sits pristine on my scraptable though I did buy dividers for it. I haven't gotten to the Week 5 videos/Photos I Love yet. I am doing LOAD too and it's been crazy but I think I might have a rhythm.
My biggest problem is I don't have a big stash of pictures waiting to scrap. Generally I am a chronological scrapper but thanks to LOAD/MOTHERLOAD and a teen who doesn't let me photograph every detail of her life, I have less photos to pick from!

I am really liking Twelve. Have so many ideas swirling around in my head. I don't have very many ideas for inspiration or rituals. Need more ideas or have to think outside the box. I have 3 layouts halfway done and then have been sick for the last 4 days (don't feel much like scrapping). I hope to feel better tomorrow. I think if I hadn't been trying to read everything on MB at BPC, I may have completed more layouts. I really want to get the 144 layouts done this year.

I am using my journal to jot down ideas from the triggers and daily e-mails.

One of my "rituals" is to clean down the counters and bleach the sink every Wednesday/Saturday - my two main "stay home" days.

But - really - WHO thinks that is scrap worthy??!! I am struggling with rituals, too....

That is a good ritual but maybe not scrapworthy. I have one on my list "Sunday Night Dinners" where we take kids out to dinner on Sunday night. They are both in college and do not live with us. Half of the time, though, one or the other cannot make it but we still do it. I have 11 more ideas to come up with. I did think maybe if I look through
some old pictures I might think of some rituals we used to have when kids were little. I have nothing that speaks to me on inspiration--that's sad.

Maybe can you turn that into a "list" about what you do on your stay home days? Or things that have to get done before you can sit and scrap??

My ritual page for January was about watching the sunset on the beach at Wasaga. We go there a lot in the summer. Every night after dinner, we all head out to the beach (there's 12 of us who hang out together). We all chat until *just* before the sun starts setting, the beach gets busy with photographers and everyone is so quiet just watching the sunset. It's a really nice thing we do every evening.

No idea on this month yet though ...

Kris that's a good idea about the beach. We actually do the same thing when we go to the beach, we were there last weekend. We go before dinner with a glass of wine or beer and watch the sunset. Your right, there are a lot of people that go down to watch and everyone gets quiet like their watching a movie. I hadn't thought of that as a ritual, thanks for the idea. I have a ton of sunset pictures.

Rituals was one of the hard ones for me, too. But going through my storage albums, I found- wearing Hanna Andersson dresses, reading bedtime stories, taking a photo by Bronner's music box whenever we visit, photographs of groups of cousins at every major holiday. None of these I would've thought of on my own, but came about as I studied my photos!

So Penny, after taking a picture of my "weekend" coffee cup, I had another thought for you on rituals....

Is there anything you eat/drink/places you go that you save specifically on your days off??

I have a red Starbucks mug my girlsfriend bought me one year for my birthday. It always makes me happy, is perfect for my weekend coffees when I can slow down and take my time. I LOVE my mug. DH is allowed to use the mug Monday through Friday, but come Saturday morning, that mug had better be clean!!

And I'm sorry, I missed who commented on my sunset ritual comment ... Yes! That's exactly it! It's everyone is watching a movie - even the dogs and the babies are quiet. It's truly amazing!!

Thanks to everyone's talk about rituals I took a picture of one of ours today. On Sundays, we used to walk our dog to the independent coffee shop at the front of our development. Well, they shut down for awhile and just recently reopened in a strip mall further down the road. We walked our dog over there today (DH goes and gets the coffee while I wait outside with the dog) and I took pictures.

One other ritual that we have is taking a picture by the turtle statue in the zoo. I have many years of pix. I need to take one more (oldest DD is a senior this year) and I can do a LO about this ritual.

I agree that this thread is much easier to manage than the big board over there.
I have kinda separated the topics from the 12 layouts i make. I LOVE making the list of topics to scrap, thinking from the story to the layout instead of from the photos to the layout, KWIM?
However I didnt make the 12 topics into my 12 jan layouts, I just used the inspiration to make the layouts ideas i wanted to, and then i actually changed some of the topics from what they had been written under, its fast and loose with me.
I did managed to motivate myself to use some of my awesome SSS kits that have been building up the last couple of months, which has been wonderful. Twelve plus Scrapbook Generations kits = perfection

I'm so glad I found this thread again! I really am LOVING twelve. But I am SO far behind! I don't know how you all are keeping up with it. I try to watch all the videos/read all the info for the week, and then set about organizing myself for that week, and all of a sudden there is another week's info!

I've tried not to panic and just take my time--after all, we have a whole year-- but the discussions in the forum keep going and I have no idea what anyone is talking about. Even here, I havent gotten to this week's topic so I'm clueless about the favorite photo!

That being said, my inspiration box is packed with photos and memorabilia, and I've completed 7 layouts. For me, that's great!

For the journal, I added tabs for each category and use them to take notes. I also print out any of the daily emails that I'd like to journal about and stick them in. The tabs REALLY help me to visualize all 12 topics so I can better think about "where" a certain story might fit. Adding the tabs helped me a lot in my "hate to write on the first page" phobia with a new journal, LOL!

All in all, I'm thrilled with the class, just wish I could keep up better. Personally I wish Stacy had covered one topic a month instead of one a week, but I have a feeling I'd be in the minority. Today is my day to hunker down and go through all the content and catch up.

I think I have given up on even trying to keep up with the MBs over there. I signed up to get the daily digest of them, and can't even manage to get that read.

That being said, I have scrapped 20 pages so far this year. So, I only have FOUR MORE to do for February. Super thrilled about that pace. I still am not focused on one in each category - but striving to round that out over the course of the year.

My inspiration file is tidied up - it had become a catch all. My journal is however still very empty....

Penny, that's amazing!!! I'm at 14 layouts done and I'm really happy with my pace. At this time last year, I probably had less then half that done.

My journal is still empty too. I'm hoping this weekend, I'll start working with it. I'm hoping once I make the first mark in it, the rest won't be as tough

I too am loving 12...and am amazed at how many pages you've gotten finished, Penny! I love the concept of this class and in January I got 9 layouts finished and was quite pleased with that number. I did a few layouts that I'd been mulling around in my mind forever and it felt good to finally get them onto layouts.

There's so much information though, like the story telling feature. What has everyone done with this information? I really haven't listened to the audio yet so I guess I need to start there. But, I'm interested to know what you all think?

Also, my inspiration file is empty. When I'm looking for specific layout ideas, I just look through my category drawers and storage binders for the pictures. So, I don't really need to put pictures in the file...what else should I be putting in there?

I've loved reading everyones ideas here, rather than trying to keep up with the MB at BPC. My favorite part of the message board is the topics section where everyone posts such great ideas for pages...it really helps with some of the trickier topics, like rituals. But, overall, I love this class!

MBowers, I am needing to go back and listen to storytelling audio again. The main thing that I have gotten from all of the storytelling information is that you can start your layout from a story and then add pictures. I had never scrapped this way so this is big for me. I think this is why I am scrapbooking again.

My inspiration files are mostly empty. I'm like you, I get my pictures out of category drawers and storage binders when I need them. I do plan to write down ideas as they come to me and put them in there, otherwise I will forget. But, so far I haven't done that.

Good job on getting 9 layouts done.

I would be surprised if there was more than 10% of the class that is "all caught up".

I am loving this class but it is full-on and I have decided to be ok with not being on top of it all.

I am focusing in on layout making, and based on Stacy's brilliant advice in the last chat I am going to slowly work on my change.

I will aim for 12 layouts, but only 2 are going to be the story first approach, the other 10 for feb will be photo first, as I am used to.

I am trying to watch all the videos, etc, but I am struggling, but I have a whole year, so I will get to it as best I can. I am loving the content, so I know it will be something I look forward to catching up on. One plan I have is to listen to a lot of the audio content in the car, which is when I currently listen to PRT episodes.

I just wanted to say over here, where it is less insane than over there, don't stress! Be happy about how awesome you are, and don't feel stressed about what you haven't done. As Stacy say's Everything Counts!

She said lots of interesting stuff. I was at work and actually on the IT helpdesk during her chat, so I was listening on my iphone and surrepticiously chatting between help requests. but I asked her one question and was luckily uninterrupted while she answered.
Basically I have been a scrapbooker who starts from photos. Stacy's method is all about starting from the story. Think of what to scrap, write it down, then find photos of that and put them in the inspiration file.
I am finding that pretty hard work, it is new and different, and so i end up going back to my old style when i get stressed/tired.
Stacy said encouraging and helpful stuff, as she always does (yay stacy) and then said to try to ease into it a bit more. Make just one or two layouts the story ones this month and give yourself a pass on the rest. Next month maybe try to make it more than that, and work your way into the change more slowly.
I found this super helpful, since it takes all the guilt out of it for me. I can choose a few stories i am really excited to tell and think about them, and let the rest be my previous system, of taking some photos off the top of the pile, a recent kit from SG and pairing them together to get a fast and fab layout finished and into an album.
I don't know what my max is going to be for stacy-style layouts in a month, they seem to take a lot more brain-power, and I am kinda tired from my toddlers, so I don't have heaps to spare. I am thrilled that I will get something done, and layouts finished and enjoy it along the way, you know?

I missed the chat as well, but that's an interesting take on how Stacy scrapbooks .... I agree that my favorite layouts usually are the ones that start with the story.

On another topic, how are you all liking your inspiration bins?? I changed mine into a binder by Feb 1 as the "bin" wasn't working for me. I am LOVING my binder!!!

I have it organized that each topic has a page protector with the original list of ideas clipped to the front of that page protector along with my ziploc of embelishments. I've stuck a piece of white cardstock in the page protector to make it more sturdy. I've been printing off all kinds of ideas of my blog reader and those are hole punched and put into the correct section. As I go use up an "inspiration" piece, it gets tossed out of the book.

I have 3 more layouts left for this month I'm impressed I'm doing so well!!

One of my fastest LO's that went together in January was one that was story-driven. And I know when I am struggling, it's because I am not letting the story drive the LO. {Like right now, I have PAPER I want to use on a certain TOPIC and I am having a hard time getting going on it, because I keep coming back to WHAT am I trying to say here - what story am I telling?}

Today is the last day of the month and I'm sitting at 22 pages for the year - so I am 2 short. Need to crank out that double LO today. And get off this message board.

Did y'all hit your 12 for Feb/24 for year?

I need to crank one more layout out tonight as well. Although I have 2 layouts that "don't count" towards my Twelve class layouts ... if that makes sense. They are actually repeats of a certain theme. PLUS I DO have 3 or 4 layouts that are just waiting for titles and journaling ... so they're not counted either (yet) So in essence, even through I'm "behind" in February, I'm well ahead in March

Are you counting pages or layouts Penny??

Any interesting ideas on using that journal yet?? I think I'm really just scared to mess it up. Kind of like cutting into a fresh sheet of 12x12 paper kind of scared

I count pages. So, a double LO counts for 2. Hey, it's just as much work.

DITTO! I'm not contemplative enough to have a plethora of ideas yet!

I have been using my REMINDER app on my iPhone. But, I'm just not in the use the cute journal groove yet.....

I should start doing that too!! I noticed yesterday probably a third of my pages are double pagers. At least that will make me feel better when I'm falling "behind"

Glad to see I'm not the only one with journal issues. Oh well, maybe by the summer I'll break it in a little. Baby steps, right??

I'm in too & have been a little bit slacking off on reading all the content in the class but I've been posting some layouts over there and I'm loving that the class is ongoing throughout the whole year!

Still nothing on the journal. I think I will attempt it at the end of class when we aren't dealing with new content!

I have done 4 pages this month so far and have 8 more in partial completion.

I need to catch up on audio/video lessons - maybe tomorrow. Can't believe we have just 3 more weeks!

I am curious if everyone that was doing the "twelve" class at BPS is still doing it? The message board has pretty much died even though it is supposed to be a year long class. I have gotten way behind but am still trying to stay with it. I really do like the idea of getting 144 layouts done in a year. Not sure if that is realistic for me but any layouts I get done are a plus.

I'm still keeping up with the class

I fell a little behind, but had a crop last weekend so I *think* I'm all caught up now. I just need to add the journaling and then I can count those pages.

I'm curious though .... I thought "class" was ending at the end of March. So why are we still getting the daily emails?? Anyone know?

Behind on my lessons, ahead on my layouts.

If I understand correctly, we will get daily emails from the 1st to the 24th all year long.

That is my understanding too Penny.
So far, behind on my lessons almost caught up on my layouts.

I really want to get moving on this, I love the concept behind the course. I seems that life keeps getting in the way. lol.

Did anyone ever figure out a great way to use their journal?

I would have to say no on the journaling. I caught up with the lessons and a little behind on the layouts. I do 12 double page layouts. I'm really not a 1 page kind of girl. Did anyone start the album the photos I love? I didn't start that yet.

Good job on keeping the layouts up. I also understand that we get the e-mails on 1-24th of each month plus the 12 triggers and I think, Stacy will still show us her 12 layouts each month. I don't think we get any new lessons.

I started out writing responses in my journal for the e-mails. That only lasted through January. I got behind on this too. I would like to catch this up also, because it did help me come up with a few ideas.
For me I should have a little more time between now and first part of Nov. so I hope to catch up somewhat.

I haven't done anything with the photos I love album, have any of you done this?
