!!PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH BEFORE SIGNING UP!!

I love whimsy jars, anything with the word Whimsy in is going to be fun!! So I thought I would host a partner whimsy jar swap

Theme: For the kitchen.

The details:
Start with (at least) a 1 gallon GLASS jar with a lid.
Here's a few:
From Walmart
From Target
Bed Bath & Beyond
Online

Deck the jar out
Chalk board paint
Stickers (be sure to adhere them permanently!)
Vinyl
painted
Another way to paint
Etched

In the jar you must, but are not limited to, include:
- A dish towel that matches your partners kitchen
- 3 recipe cards - one for YOUR best appetizer, main dish and dessert. (visit with your partner to see if they would prefer a 6x6 or different size)
- a magnet (handmade or store bought)
- a gourmet foodie item (IE: flavored oils, unusual spices, high end chocolate, etc)
-1 hand made item for their kitchen
-1 store bought item for their kitchen
-A nice brand of hand soap (Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, etc)
- a cookbook (the small check stand ones) or cooking magazine
- $10 in scrapbook products that have a kitchen theme.

All items MUST be brand new, bought for this swap. Try and stick as close to your partners survey and picture as you can.

I realize this could get price, but that's why I am making the due date 2 months away. So plan accordingly. These need to be in the mail no later than March 31st

You must check in at least once a week on the thread so I know that you are still playing with us.

To sign up:
Fill out this questioner and post or link to a picture of something that best represents your kitchens theme & colors (a photo of your kitchen, an area from your kitchen, an item of your kitchen, a piece of fabric, paint swatches, line of scrapbook paper, etc) This will help give your a partner of what your kitchen looks like.

Shilo -

I love the idea of this (and whimsy jars, in general) - and I see that you mention it may be a more expensive swap, but have you really thought about the price of this swap? I mean, with the list of items (and the size jar itself) plus postage, this could easily cost over $100 without adding any extras (which I always like to do!)

If you plan to host another one, could you make it a little smaller in scope so maybe more people would find it easier to join?

I guess I'm just cheap.

Hmmm I see what Pam means. I took out the kitchen gadget since that could be a pricey item. Also, keep in mind that some of the items are hand made and that cuts down on the cost. The jars them self are sold at Walmart for around $6, but they did not have a link to them on there website. This is also why the deadline is not for 2 months. That way things can be bought over time instead of a big ding all at once.

I thought this would be a fun swap since a lot of us are probably feeling the let down from the holidays and a bit of the winter blahs.

Happy St.Valentines Day (from Mexico)!!

Michele, I would love 6x6 size recipes I guess. Wish I had my measurements for the stand/recipe holder I made but 6x6 would be fine as that is the size of all my other recipes! LOL

My husband said it was him or scrapbooking... so I took pictures of him packing and made the cutest page ever!

I got a pile of scrapbook supplies for my husband. It was the best trade I ever made!

Becky,Mexico?! Awesome, I've never been. I am working on something cool for your kitchen, and have other ideas floating around in my head. A quick question - would you prefer a jar that is painted on the inside or embellished on the outside....I was thinking if you are going to use it for kitchen tools you might not want any paint inside??

Been having a lot of fun gathering for the jar. Problem is most of it is not going to fit in the jar itself! Working on the handmade items this weekend. Can't wait to get it all packed up and on it's way.
