good afternoon, ladies!

this week, it's all about chipboard - one of my favorite things!

here's the link for wookiemouse's blog.

question of the week: how do you typically alter your naked chipboard?

i typically paint it, then add glossy accents or glossy mod podge.

have a great week!

happy organizing!

LOL - LOVE that picture of Thor!! What are you guys building there??

Re chipboard - I have more naked chipboard then coloured chipboard. I usually use ink to colour the naked chipboard. My coloured chipboard I keep with coloured embelishments. The naked chipboard I keep on my shelf in an IKEA box.

I'm hoping to convince DH to hang my corkboard above my desk. Somehow things exploded and again I can't find the floor Hopefully, I'll get that cleared up today.

Hey Cristi!! Yah, Twelve is going pretty well!! This weekend has been a bust, but I have a crop at the end of the month to make up for it

I end up watching the videos and such while the boys are playing video games or nights DH has gone to bed early. I've missed a few weeks here and there (of videos), but I've been keeping up with the layouts pretty well.

That is a huge shed!! It'll look great when you're done

kris - it is done. i have a pic on my blog of the outside of it.

at any rate, he mentioned his next project is my enclosed porch, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed, b/c i'm just about to the point of packing some things away, just so i don't have to look at them everyday - this organizing thing is never-ending b/c my input far exceeds my output.

i'm really not one to get rid of things. lol...

Great photo Crisann! Wish my shed was that big

I do not have much chipboard right now. Just a few shaped pieces, mostly plain. Sometimes I paint it, sometimes I use Copics and then Stickles on top, sometimes I ink them too. Yesterday, I got to try something new I learned at a make and take - Twinkling H2o's - fun product. You use a paint brush and add water, the color depends on how much water. We used it on a chipboard cover for a journal.

The few pieces of chipboard I currently have are in a mason jar on a shelf, both colored and plain together.

I hear you on the input exceeding output!! Actually, I did exactly that. I packed up 4 huge rubbermaid bins and DH let me keep them in his mancave I'm VERY slowly going through stuff in there, but it's nice not having it in my room where it gets in the way

And how did I miss the shed was done!??! That's great!! I can't believe your enclosed porch is finally next!!

i know, right? just don't get too excited for me yet - a.) it's going to be alot of work b/c the entire foundation needs redone and b.) he's working 12-14 hr shifts w/ an hr+ commute each way, so... besides, it's needs to warm up some more before we start that b/c of all the concrete work.

p.s. - i tried to convince him to seal it up a bit better - insulation, etc. - so i could move all the art journaling (read: messy) stuff out there to free up some space in here, but he said it was the next thing he was thinking about starting, so i left it alone.

*fingers crossed*

the only "downfall" is i get to start going through this challenge again as i set up my new space. lol...

i know, what a shame, right?

I watch myself write this every week; "I keep this or that in a box/basket in my Expedit/bookshelf. I like it, but I'm not so good at using it" So too with the chipboard...

I have about half and half plain and covered chipboard. I mostly paint plain chipboard with acrylic paint. After watching Glitter Girl's adventure, I'm wanting to pull some out to play with it.

Th box is getting to be full. Some of the space is taken by Basic Grey-type sheets with diecut chipboard. Am considering taking all pieces out of the sheets to save space. Plus I think it might be fun to just rifle through the box when I'm looking for something.

NOOOO! Another week gone already and I haven't touched last week's tools!

My letter alphas are all stored with my other alphas, so that is done, but the shapes are another matter. They are all thrown into a box right now and I don't use them. Need to consider what to do with them so I 1) know what I have and 2) start using it.

I usually paint my naked chipboard - and most is naked. I don't often buy others, because I like the 'customising' and to me this also means more versatility.

I'll have to squeeze an hour in somewhere to sort chipboard...

Yesterday I pulled all shapes out of their sheets. It does save on space and now I can close the lid on the box

I also found out that the crop I'm going to in about three weeks will have a "yardsale" section. Realized that some of the chipboard I was pulling apart belongs with some of the paper I was planning on selling. So now, I'm planning on going through the chipboard again, pulling those pieces out. And perhaps other shapes I won't be using. Didn't think at first that chipboard dates, but... well, some of the huge brackets and intricate swirls just look dated to me now.

See, now my solution would hav been to get a bigger box Good for you!!

Hmm, I know what you mean about the "dated" chipboard. I have several of those brackets and paisleys too. But I really am hoping to use them up someday. Our LSS garage sale is in May so I have a little while longer to think about it

I would have liked that.
It might even have worked, but I've decided to corrall my scrappy stuff. It's only allowed to occupy three spaces in my room. So I try to do what I can to use the same boxes as before. That sometimes call for a bit of "creativity"

Do you have anything singled out for the yardsale, Kris? I'm getting rid of paper culled from my stash, some embellishments, some albums and organizational items (12x12 boxes, a vertical CH paper holder). I have the hardest time getting rid of ink pads, markers and tools, even it I haven't used them for years and years...

Just a quick update and to rescue us from p4. I also removed my chipboard shapes from the packaging and they are all in one box now. The box is black, which may be a problem as I can't see what is in it.

The further I go with this challenge the more it dawns on me that I need to SEE my stuff to use it. So a solid box is maybe not the best idea. Hmm. Will have to go shopping for a container of the right size...

Finally sorted my fibers neatly into a tackle box, so now my tools can go into the container where they were just chucked in. Baby steps.

Been away for a few days so this is the first time I have seen this.

My chipboard mostly fits into a single container, a small container, because I have never known what to do with it. I suppose that since watching the glitter girl video on the subject I should be a bit more willing to try and use it but I can't really get away from thoughts of trying to cover really intricate shapes with pattern paper in my earlier scrapping days and failing miserably. For this reason I much prefer painting the naked stuff, a quick result and not too complicated.

I actually *always* have a bin going for the garage sale. I've tossed uite a few magazines in there recently, as well as my Autumn Leaves "calendars", some chalks, stamp sets, and some inks.

How about you Hilde??

Ah, the weekend! What are you guys doing? Scrappy stuff?

I'm spending Saturday at home, so I have plans for some organization (gotta get the chipboard for the sale out), some photo organization, and some scrapping, too!

I have put together page kits for my upcoming crop during the week. And I'm sorely tempted to create a layout from one of them. So I might just do that and go back to making kits again next week...

Like your perpetual garage sale bin, Kris! I can't wait to offload at the crop. Remembered I have *many* Bazzill sheets in a bin in storage, too. Will have to bring that. Hopefully somebody would like to take my junk home. What I can't sell, I think I'll just throw away.

I'm hoping to get some scrapping done a little later today. This morning is some errands and housecleaning first. Last night I just didn't have the mojo to get started.

I find the bin helpful. Although this time, I'm into my third container so I guess I have been purging a little more then I usually do Sometimes I'll go through the bin and if I find stuff that's been in there for a few rounds, I'll either lower the price even more or take it out of the bin and give it to DS's daycare/school for art projects. They always appreciate the donations.
