good afternoon, ladies!

happy easter!

this week, we're going to organize our memorabilia.

we're getting down to the end of this round - can you believe it? you've made it through 24 weeks of this challenge - just 5 more weeks to go!

here's the link to wookiemouse's blog.

question of the week: what's the most unusual piece of memorabilia you've kept?

as always, happy organizing!

Thanks Crisann for updating it - makes it much easier to find the threads when they go "missing", and happy Easter to you, too.

The dreaded week is here! I've prepared by getting the rest of the room presentable. I've gotten most squared away, but my guilty conscience reminds me that I have a container with "undecided" stuff hidden under my desk .

I have no idea what is the most unusual piece of memorabilia is - I collect stuff and then.... do nothing. I wouldn't be able to tell you what is hiding in that box if my life depended on it.

Can't wait to hear from everone else, though. Then I'll update at the end of the week when I've had a look through it all.

I managed to get a good handle on this, including ALL the artwork etc. DS brings home. I'm still working through the backlog, but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel

I bought several of the inexpensive expanding file folders from Walmart that were bright colours with fun patterns. They were $7, so probably cheaper in the States. I used my Dymo label to label with a year. I've keep 2012 up to date, 2011 is pretty much done as well and I'm working backwards from there.

I also bought a few of the bright coloured, plain expandable files. These are labeled with specific trips. This way all of the memorabilia is in one place, in order of day.

Both types of files fit an 8 ½ x 11 easily. Some of the bigger items, calendar pages, some artwork has to be folded. But I'm Ok with that.

I *try* to clean off my fridge once a month. There's always so much on there between certificates and artwork from school, various invitations and bits of this and that I have to clean it off regularly or I'd never see the fridge!! When I pull everything off, it's most likely from the month or two previous. For example, I just cleaned off the fridge this past weekend, so while the majority of stuff was from March, there were a few random things from February in there.

If there's bits of this and that which I'm SPECIFICALLY keeping for Project Life (or another Project), I put it right into the appropriate Project Bin ; IRIS Bins or the Generations plastic envelopes that are labeled with the project name on it.

My next step, which I saw on a blog somewhere, is I'm going to go through my memorabilia month by month (after it's all sorted of course ) and I will start making a list of all the memorabilia that I have and project ideas for it. Whenever I get my corkboard hung over my desk (hopefully this week), I'll keep that list right beside my UFO list so I will remember which projects I need to go digging in my files for. The exception are the big projects, Plife, December Daily, MMEW. As those projects already have storage areas, my memorabilia will be going right into there.

I will take some pictures at some point, but I wanted to try and write out my system as it's been working REALLY well for me. I started this maybe 2 rounds ago and I'm still really liking it.

Just realized that I forgot to check in this week

During round 4 (when I was lurking) I gathered piles of memorabilia from hiding places all over my house. Kind of scary how much there was. I went through every piece, it took quite a while but there was quite a lot that was of no use, because the photos were scrapped already. The remainder was sorted and labeled in zipper bags which were added to the kits when I printed the photos. Some things I scrapped without photos because they were events where I hadn't taken any but the things I had saved still deserved a place in an album. I have vowed not to ever let myself be overtaken by my memorabilia again. I take a bag w/me on trips now just to collect "stuff" and the bag gets placed in the file box with my page kits until I print, as soon as I finish scrapping trip photos anything not used gets tossed.

I really have not saved anything unusual of my own that I can remember. I did find in some things from my Mother's desk that I boxed up and had not looked at in over 30 years since she passed away, cannot imagine why she kept a speeding ticket from 1972??

Hope everyone is having a good week!
