I just renewed. Kind of a little ticked that they sent me a renewal. My last issue is July. I will miss them though since they were second favorite to Scrapbook Trends.

Not surprising but I thought CK would shut down first. Hate seeing any publication go under but I guess it's the price we pay for technological progress.

Well THAT's a bummer. I like SE best of all the scrapping mags, always have. There's just nothing like having a paper mag in your hand. Glad I didn't renew, though, or I'd be furious. As it is, I'm not sure which issue is my last. Now I'll have to check. Thanks for the heads-up Sarah.

I just emailed customer service to see what will happen to those of us with longer subscriptions. Mine isn't up until August 2013. I don't know if a refund would be offered or not. I hope that they don't offer us a subscription to something else in its place. No offense but I don't want Better Homes and Gardens. I will post here when I get a reply.

I just emailed them too, asking what will happen to my remaining subscription, which I JUST paid for. I'm so sad to see the magazine fold, but I must say that I am very annoyed that they accepted renewals so recently if they knew they were folding in August. I would have appreciated an email too, instead of having to hear it first here. (Thanks for being on the ball and posting this here, SDeven.)

Oh, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Such sad news! Scrapbooks Etc. is my favorite magazine, alongside Scrap 365. Oh, I will miss Scrapbook Etc. so much.

The blog post said that they have 350,000 subscribers. Very sad that a such a number of loyal readers is not enough to keep a great magazine going...

I have been told that it is advertising revenue that sustains a magazine, rather than subscription revenue. I would imagine Scrapbook Trends is following a different model with their limited reliance on advertisers and a higher subscription/newstand cost. Hopefully, they will last.

That kind of ticks me off how Michelle just came on here and said oh no, everything is peachy! Then it made the Discount Magazine place look bad when it was probably the true thing that was happening
Well, I have a whole year left on mine, wonder what will happen...
Now that means no more magazines for me Maybe I will have to go with that Sports Illustrated

I honestly don't think Michelle or anyone else on staff at SBE knew about it, even as late as last week. I think it's very surprising news to them. And they are all suddenly out of a job. I feel awful for everyone involved, and this is a big loss for us as a community.

I'm SO sad!!! I ALMOST renewed this weekend, because I had a nice offer. I don't know when my subscription actually expires, though. I, too, hope they don't give us Better Homes and Gardens. I subscribed to it one time, and I got nothing out of it but recycling material.

I was in their office a couple weeks ago and they were working on the October issue - so I don't think this came with much warning. Like Jen, I think this is a huge loss for the scrapbooking community.

Don't feel responsible. They had 350,000 subscribers and couldn't make it. I doubt even the Peas could have made much of a dent in that direction. As one Pea said, it's advertising revenue that truly controls a magazine's survival.

And I've worked for several that went belly up on my watch. The editors and graphics staff rarely know anything until the morning it's announced. Especially in a large corporation like Meredith. They've closed many titles and alerted the staff (my friends and colleagues) the next morning. Most of those people were up the night before working on deadlines six months out.

Sad news, but I can't say I haven't been expecting it for several years now.

SO sad to hear this. I just let my CK subscription lapse, since I had my SBE subscription all paid up through Aug 2014.
Now I have no scrapbook mags to look forward to getting in the mail.
Guess I'll have to renew CK. Sigh.
I wonder how they will refund those of us with remaining issues? I ordered my sub through Tango using Paypal, I think. It's been awhile back.
