I know this has already been dicussed but I cant find thr post. I even went back like 6 pages. Would you recommened the switch? I have heard the cameo is hard to use? Dont want to make the switch amd regret it. I love my E 2 but the carts are starting to add up. Will it be cheaper in the long run to buy the cameo?

I've never heard that the Cameo was hard to use. Just the opposite.

Here is the Cameo Master thread. There are a number of Cricut Vs Cameo links to browse. This might help

You can download the silhouette software, look through the store and try the software before you buy.
The software is a free download.

ETA: the silhouette cuts fine detail much better than the cricuts.

I had the E2 for 2 days. never could figure out how to use it. I must of spend 4 hours each day.. on that 2nd day I shipped it back. Got my Cameo and never been happier! I love my Cameo!!!
I did have the SilhouetteSD - so maybe i was familiar to the software..but I never knew it would be so much trouble to sue the E2...

I first heard of the Silhouette by watching Kristina Werner's videos.

I looked into each cutting (e2, cricut, wishblade) and back when it was just the SD I really thought I'd get the SD.

Then the Cameo came out, and I just jumped at the chance.

If I had known about the Cameo BEFORE I had even bought the Big Shot, I would have saved my money for the Cameo right then and there. Sure, the Big Shot does cutting and embossing, but the Cameo does cutting really well and easily and without needing to purchase dies and cartridges.

You think with all the $ you can spend on cartridges they'd almost give the machine away!

I guess I really needed to research every option of a product type before comitting the $ to it.

I just bought the Eclips by Sizzix and it's like having the best of both worlds. They have cartridges (licensed Tim Holtz stamp2kut - you stamp the image and it will cut out parts of the image or the whole image for you!) and they also use SCAL software so you can download images from the internet and cut whatever you want, even Silhouette images (it's a bit challenging to capture these images but it can be done).

AND, it's super easy to setup and use! I absolutely love it and think you should look into it. There's a lady on the boards who has a great website where she reviewed 3 die cutting machines: Scrap Your Story machine reviews

Honestly, the cricut is harder to use than the cameo. It is so worth the money. Mr. Cricut hasn't been used once since Jan. and I had to make two SBs for graduations. Toy won't regret it.

I was a Cricut person once upon a time... Then I bought my Silhouette SD and when the Cameo came out I bought it too. I love my Cameo. There are tons of youtube videos out there to watch if you ever have a question, and it's pretty user friendly

Other then the cricut, is the cameo the only alternative? I know that Avacado makes stamps and die cuts that match... Only sine then have I considered getting another cutter...

I always joke that the Cameo cuts circles around the Cricut, and that is because it can actually cut circles! The Cricut has never been able to! I love the Cameo, it can cut the smallest of details and it draws soooo smooth! And the downloads they have in the Silhouette Studio store are amazing! They have some great artists and different companies like Echo Park that make designs. You can also get subscriptions to get the $.99 designs even cheaper.
You can see what I've been doing (which is a LOT!) with my Cameo on my blog... my blog

Every time I cut out intricate cuts with my Cameo I cringe a little as I'm peeling back the paper--expecting that it will perform the way my Cricut did. It almost never lets me down. I still have my Cricut but I never use it. I'm a Cameo girl all the way now!
