|Posted: 6/22/2012 10:57:58 PM|I used my Fiskars Fuse for the first time tonight. Turning the crank is fluid and easy. The unit is solid, but I couldn't help holding the metal bar as I turned the handle. It's a habit from using the Big Shot and Grand Calibur.
The sandwich recipes for the different dies I tried all worked as listed. It really does cut and emboss in one pass. I didn't expect the Spellbinders to work. The rubber mat does get cut into. I'm concerned on how long before I will need another. I tried a Sizzix Bigz Tattered Florals die (steel rule die) and it worked well. The Spellbinders Wonderful Wings didn't work as planned. I will have to use wax paper in the future so I can get the diecut out of the die. I have a lot of poking to do to remove the embedded card stock.
I don't have time to try out the Fiskars plates or the letterpress, but I bet they work just fine. Once I get moved my Big Shot and Grand Calibur will be put up for sale. I'm glad I took a chance on this machine. I mainly got it for the versatility with all the dies I already have.

Nice review! Thanks for sharing that. It sounds like a good solid machine. I just couldn't justify it since I have a Vagabond already (and a Cameo!)
What is the bottom photo? Is that the cutting plate? It looks like the cutting plates for the Big shot and Vagabond, i.e. the dies cut into it.

Doxielady it's the rubber mat.
Sandwich for the Spellbinders is base plate, shim A, die with blades up, paper, rubber mat, and cutting plate on top.

Are the adaptor plates wide enough for the Grand dies from spellbinders??
I am so glad it's as good as they promoted!! I will have to add this to my wish list for B-Day or Christmas???

Did you get any of the Fiskar's dies? Do they work in the Big Shot you have?
|Posted: 6/23/2012 1:19:08 PM|I also have the Friskars Fuse and I love it, so happy I purchase it.
having fun trying other system dies. so far its great and easy.
|Posted: 6/23/2012 1:41:30 PM|Not understanding why the dies cut into the embossing mat. (still waiting on my adapter plates) This doesn't happen in my Big shot. That stinks if we have to replace the mat often.

Thank you so much for your thorough review! I ordered mine when it went in extended delivery and won't get it until 11 July, so I have been waiting on reviews of the machine in case I want to cancel. The adapter plate is already here, so I am ready to go as soon as it arrives. I wasn't overly impressed with the plates that came with the package but have an extensive selection of other dies, and if I can use those in the machine I will be thrilled.
As for rubber mats, I don't know how thick the one in the adapter sandwich is. But every so often I can buy the Spellbinders mats at Michaels with a coupon, and that is when I stock up.
Thanks again! I'm new to this board, curious as to what I'll find as I get looking around!

I also purchased the Fuse and my 9 year old granddaughter and I played with it on Saturday. She had no problem using it, including stamping for the letter press. The letter press ink came out beautifully.
I think the machine and sytem is great but I'm really disappointed in the adapter system for other dies. It is smaller than the Grand Calibur plates by about an inch. Since the Fuse will eventually use 12" dies, I expected the adapter kit to be for those dies and they aren't so when the larger dies come out, we'll have to buy new plates.
I have the Donna Salazer Spellbinder Creative Book die set and the largest die will not fit on the Fuse adapter plates. They are too small so I'm disappointed and I am thinking I may send the adapter kit back and wait for the 12". I can use my Grand Calibur until then. Haven't made up my mind yet but I didn't open the Fuse Adapter kit since I haven't decided. Fortunately, HSN takes things back without any problems.
Have fun with your new toy!
