It's too late for my bil and sil. Their home is likely gone.
Talked to them last night and they had 35 mins to grab what they could. The photos I've seen are just horrifying! |

p.s. why is it so impossible to find national news coverage of this fire??? Thousands of homes are burning and yet we have to hear about the Kardashians and other inconsequential things. |

kathgar...so sorry about your family...how terrible..
It's just a nightmare.. I think I dreaming of fires last night... My husband works in Boulder at nights and they could see all the smoke and flames.. he's on the other side of town, so he is in a pretty safe spot.. but it is just terrible.. I could go on and on.. but prayers for all the families affected...
There could be rain today!! Not until this afternoon, but hopefully the skies will open up!! |

The news coverage this morning was heartbreaking. To lose everything in a fire would be so devastating. I feel so badly for the people who are being affected by this. |

Keeping the Colorado Springs area in prayer. It is frightening! I hope the skies open up and drench this horrible fire.

We watched local coverage last night, and tears were flowing in our home as we saw and heard the stories of loss. A man said his in-laws watched their home burn on live TV (which really is inexcusable on the part of the station IMO). So many prayers said for safety for the firefighters, for rain, for success in controlling this monster. |

I expect it will be the same kind of "thunderstorm activity" we had yesterday that caused the fire to spread into town. I know they are concerned about the winds this afternoon. |

The home where I brought home my three babies is likely gone. We haven't heard the but the pictures you see are a street over from where we lived. All my neighbors are devastated.
Grateful we have our lives, but just truly shocked that this could happen.
Prayers for the brave firefighters and everyone in Colorado Springs. |

I'm trying to check on "our" wolves in Divide, which seems so far so good as Divide's schools are hosting evacuees.
As I was reading I stumbled on this posting which was put up this morning (so may be filled by now):
Have a empty trailer that is available that sleeps 6-8. Also a couple of bedrooms available if needed in a basement.

DailyCamera.com's raw video from Denver Post
Evening update from The Gazette includes blurbs about aid and also this from Frontier Airlines: "Frontier Airlines is saiving change fees and enacting a flexible policy for travel to or from Colorado Springs from June 27 to July 4., who bought tickets on or before June 27. Customers who have already started their travel may make one itinerary change."
It's unthinkable to see something like this roll into a place you call home.

One friend for sure lost his home, another thinks he lost his home and maybe even his business. It is heartbreaking.

Dh and I were watching the coverage last night. I told him that I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to watch your home burn on live TV.
On the Gazette's FB page, it says that a firefighter told a Gazette reporter that 200-300 homes were lost.

How did the CO fires get started? Was it humans or weather, like lightening? |

They are saying there is a very high chance this fire was arson. |

The Fort Collins and Boulder fires were started by lightening. The FBI has been called in to help with colorado springs fire investigation. I have heard that it might have been started by an arsonist. |

I grew up in Colorado Springs. It's heartbreaking to see all the loss. My heart goes out to everyone and my thoughts are with the amazing fire fighters.
I found this site while I was looking for information. Waldo Canyon Fire It has a lot of info and is updated often.
I hope they get a break in the heat and wind and a rain storm plants itself right on top of the whole thing.

Per the Gazette, most recent post: "10:04 According to a Facebook post from Pikespeakarea Crime Stoppers, it's "pouring rain" in southwest Colorado Springs."
Gazette link to another fire map
I looked at inciweb.org earlier today and there were fires everywhere ...and it's only June.

I hope it POURS!! Inciweb said they don't expect it to be fully contained until July 16. Hopefully they'll get a break.
