Here's my "first world" problem of the day -- too much ice! And thank you Hydro One!

On the day we got our power back -- hereby known as Hydro One Day -- I put all the leftover ice from our coolers up in the freezer. We're still using it up and I've just put a big hunk in my cup and poured my diet coke on top of it. Now I'm having trouble drinking it because of too much ice in the way!

How's that for a problem that's WONDERFUL to have? Especially as I sit here in my wonderful air conditioning, thanks to the folks from Ontario's Hydro One.

Totally a fluff post, I'm just so happy to have my power back on as we head in to a really really hot weekend. Too many people still without power. Hopefully that situation will end soon!

Hang onto that ice. I hear that the horrible heat that the midwest is having is heading east in the next day or two.

Chicago has set all sorts of heat records and it's so hot here that streets are buckling.

I'd see on the news how some of lost power! Glad you got it bak on because this blasted heat wave does not want to go away! It's suppose to feel like 40 C today. This is when I'm glad I've moved to a small town from the GTA because I'm away from the smog and the city will feel worse!

Having too much ice is a wonderful problem to have. Ice is hard to come by here in Europe, but the US Army bases all have bags of ice that we buy. The water here is also terrible, so it's just easier to buy the ice than to use bottled water to make ice in trays. Last year for over a week there was no ice to be found in stores and we have no trays to make any. I still refer to it as the ice shortage of 2011. LOL My ice is no laughing mater. I drink a ton of water and I want it as cold as possible.

I lived in Germany for four years as a newlywed. It drove me nuts that you couldn't get ice in your drinks at restaurants. Because I wasn't military, I was not allowed to shop in either the American or Canadian military base stores... I know they had ice there.... no way to get it. I was once tempted to stand outside one of them and beg someone to get me contraband ice...

Contraband ice... bahaha

I have gotten pretty used to getting cold soda, with no ice. I still can't drink warm soda or water with gas in it. BLEH! Whenever we go on a trip somewhere I always feel like I am dieing of thirst. I try to take a few bottles of water with us so I will at least have something to drink. I normally drink about between 1/2 to 1 full gallon of COLD water a day. When we go somewhere and I only have a soda and one or two small bottles of water it kills me.

I can't to go through a drive through and get a big ol' glass of sweet tea, and then sit my ass in some air conditioning.
