I cannot believe how long it's been since I have pea'd!

Between some crazy personal stuff and taking on a new client who has needed me more than full-time, I have had no time for anything creative. Heck, I've barely Tweeted (and that's not normal for me)!

So, how are you all doing?

Please share what you've been up to (creating, family, friends, work, etc.). Note that work came last in that list?

So glad to have a few moments of free time for a change.

Well, welcome back Steph! You have been gone for quite a while.
We have been spending our time peaing, shopping, and scrapping. In that order.

Welcome back!!

Not too much has been going on here. I did go on vacation in mid-June to visit my cousin in Pennsylvania. I had a great time. I am now back to the grind at work, and of course am now stalking CHA sneaks!!

There you are! We missed you, too! Did you wind up getting that library card catalog/apothecary chest that was for sale?

You ladies rock! It's so nice to be welcomed back so warmly.

It's so great to hear from all of you.

I was sure hoping things would slow down a bit so I could catch my breath (ok, truth be told, so I could pea and scrap!), but I now have another new client (on top of the one I'm working with so many hours already) and a potential third who I have call with later today.

I'm sure you're thinking, well dang girl, stop taking on new clients! Right?

Unfortunately, this is how consulting seems to work - feast or famine. And, when it's feasting time, one must appreciate the opportunity and do as much work as one can since there will again be a slowing down. As long as I can do well by my clients, I will work for several at a time. If the work starts to suffer for any, then it's time to slow it down.

As for the library cabinet, no, I had to pass on it. I soooo wanted it, but once I got the actual measurements, I had to agree with my hubby (hate it when he's right! ), it was just too big for our place. I would have had to give up my Expedit and I love that way too much (it's just perfect for the stuff it holds.

I am so hoping that I can just block out some time each evening to pea. But, it will have to wait until after mid month as this is also my son's last week here in Austin and I want to spend as much time with him as possible before he heads to San Francisco. Man will I miss that boy!

Thanks again for the warm welcome back and please know that even when I am not online here, I am thinking about you all and wishing for more free time to come hang out and play.

See you again soon, my peas!

Yes, when one is a consultant, having clients and projects is always wonderful. Especially when they are good clients you enjoy working for. But, all work and no play makes me cranky!

What are you all up to?

Glad business has been good for you! Not everyone can say that these days!! I am getting scrappy this weekend. I am on a mission to complete the year 2009! I am also reorganizing my space. Otherwise, I have recently taken up running. I am not very good at it!!! So slow. But I have worked my way up to a 5K (minus one hill that kicks my butt!)...kids are done with camp so I have a couple of weeks with them before school starts. Its all good!

Nice to see your name on the board again! It's been awhile and hope you end up with some free time soon, so you can hang out with us for abit!

What I've been doing, after working at OSU for almost 25 years, I retired about a year ago...that's what I've been doing and I highly recommend retirement, if you can swing it!

P.S. If you retired, you'd have more time for pea'ing!

camanddanismom,
Yes, I am very thankful that business has picked up. It was very slow for some time. Will you be posting what you work on this weekend? Pix of your reorganized room? As for the running, yay for you! I have also recently gotten back into running. It's amazing how long it takes to get in shape and how quickly one can get out of shape! ha ha Best of luck with the running - it pays off over time!

doesitmatter? (yes it does, btw ),
Thanks!

~Elena,
Congrats on your retirement! That's a long time to work at one place. I hope you love being retired. I was semi-retired, but am back to working again. Love being productive, but need some balance. What are you doing to keep yourself busy these days?

I did clean out my armoire. I have an armoire in my scrap space but for years it has served multipurposes (kids crafts, electronics, gift wrap). I decided to claim it for myself so I have cleaned it out but now I have to figure out how to organize it and buy some containers, etc. so once I have completed the project I will post something

I did get one lo done, but I am not very happy with it. In this surge to get my 2009 los done, I decided to pull out my scraps and my sketches and just plow through them. Couldn't find paper that I liked for the very first lo!! I settled on something and just don't love it! I plan to play with it a little more today and maybe i'll post it!

Thanks for the encouragement on the running. I am skipping today due to the weather. I have a looong way to go, but although it is hard work for me at the moment, I always feel fantastic when I am done. I already feel stronger...the effects are so much more obvious than when I go to the gym!!

camanddanismom, how's the running going?

I am so in need of a regular running program. I am getting quite a lot of walking in while traveling (with a very heavy camera backpack on), but it is way too hot and humid here in Thailand to run (although I see locals doing it every day). I miss that runner's high!

cherrypicker, I am traveling now, but for the first time in 3 years (outside the US). Man did I miss it! It is so awesome that you have found your own version of PL and that you have done it for so long. I started and stopped several times and decided it's just too much of a commitment for me to do the 365 version (picture and journaling everyday), although I did journal every day last year. I am now working on a book for my year which I started on my birthday. I will add what I feel like adding with an emphasis on what my year was like (what activities, experiences, etc. define my year). I am hoping this will keep my attention better than previous attempts have! Dang ADD.

It's so fun to check in from half way around the world and chat just as I would at home in Austin.

Who else wants to chime in and share what they've been up to?

Thanks Stephanie! It was great seeing you as well. Looks like your business has really taken off.

I don't run everyday but try for every other day.

That's awesome. I look at it this way, every time I run, walk or work out, it's one more day that I am working on being healthier. I sure hope to be able to get back in a rhythm of working out regularly when we get back home. I so need the exercise and the release it provides.

Anyone else care to share what they've been up to?

Welcome back, Steph! What fun for you to be traveling. I bet you have some awesome photos and experiences to scrap!

A few days ago I finally completed a recipe layout that has been in progress for months. It felt good to get that one finished. Other than that, I've been sorting recipe clippings and printouts into binders so they are more usable. And going through recipe books picking out what I want to cook and bake this winter.

{Betsy}, that sounds like quite a project! I so need to go through the stacks of cut-out recipes I have and get them filed into my binder. Actually, I need to go through that binder first and eliminate the things I will likely never make.

I love that you are creating a "to-make" list for the winter. Perhaps I need to do that too with all the recipes I have collected.

Thanks for the travel wishes. I do have a ton of photos, but have not been scrapping or even journaling on this trip, even though I brought along all the stuff to do so. I just haven't felt motivated to take the time for it, preferring to just be in the moment, spending every moment soaking in the experiences (the sites, the sounds, the tates and the people). Of course, I have been online a few times and that time could have been spent at least journaling. Luckily I instantly recall memories as soon as I see my photos so I can scrap the trip when I get home. I hope to take a few days to do just that after we get back (and after a trip to IA for Thanksgiving).
