Stamptoberfest 2012 Master Thread

As always, I want to thank Sandy (colourful) for sending me her SOF 2008 Word document that showed me how to put together these master threads. I do keep changing the original document so if you see errors here, please let me know. If you want to thank someone for the organization, track down Sandy!

Welcome to Stamptoberfest 2012!

This year, Stamptoberfest will begin Saturday, October 13, and continue through Sunday, October 21. That will give working Peas two full weekends to play. After that, Hangover Week Challenges will begin on Monday, October 22, and continue through Sunday, October 28, for those who just did not get enough during Stamptoberfest (SOF12)!

If you're new to our board, here are links to our previous events so you can get an idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, the links in the oldest threads are no longer operable, but you can still see the Master Threads and get ideas. They are a part of our history so I'm including them.

For a way to see some of those old threads, check out the third post on the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread.

DETAILS ABOUT HOW OUR EVENTS WORK

1. Opening Day is Saturday, October 13. On Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12, hosts and hostesses will post their challenge discussion threads and blog posts giving the details for participating in their challenges. Even if the host has indicated a theme beforehand, be sure to check the challenge thread and blog for complete instructions. Don't start early! Wait for the last-minute directions. This Master Thread will have links to both the discussion threads AND blog posts.

2. Upload your work to the stamping gallery. If you are new to posting, see the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread for instructions.

3. Be sure to check the correct boxes under Member Challenges when you post. If you do this, your piece is automatically linked to the blog post.

4. Do not link to projects completed previously; we want to see your new creations!

5. A single project may apply to multiple challenges unless the host says otherwise in his/her instructions. Deborah (Gram-pea) is still the champion of combining challenges.

6. Throughout the week, keep an eye on the stamping board for chatty challenges (some with RAK's) that will appear during Stamptoberfest 2012!

7. You can start uploading projects once Two Peas has the check boxes available in the Member Challenges section. Two Peas is located in the CST Time Zone so the check boxes will open and close according to that time zone. (When you post to the gallery, look for that link and see if Stamtoberfest 2012 (SOF12) items are listed. If not, you're too early.)

8. Ask questions! If you aren't sure how to do something, check out the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread for information. That's where we put all the how-to stuff so you would not have to wade through it on your way to the list of challenges!

Click on the magnifying glass below this thread's title to add it to your watch list. Then you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

**CHALLENGES**

Hosts and Hostesses: I will post your challenge here as I find out about them. Let me know if I should add or delete your name. If you have a theme in mind or supplies and tools people will need to participate in your challenge, let me know and I'll add them to this list. You can leave a message on this thread. Remember you don't have to offer a RAK in order to host a challenge.

Please post your Challenge Discussion Thread and Blog on Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12. Even if you are not ready to write out the details, you can still get the discussion thread and blog started. If you do it even earlier, don't include details about your challenge; just give it a name and put in the open dates. That way Jamie can link your challenge blog to the badges. If you wait until Saturday, that probably won't happen until Monday. Please see the updated information below that is also written in magenta.

I will link up your discussion threads and blogs under the Challenges (below)beginning on Thursday.

It's never too late to post a challenge. If you decide you'd like to post one for just a day or two or half-way through the week, go ahead and post it. Leave a message on this thread with a link if you can, and I'll add it to the list as soon as I see it.

We usually Pea-mail Jamie Sorenson and give her a link to our blog challenges so she can link the SOF12 badge to it. If we don't do this, participants in our challenges will not earn a badge. However, Jamie is on Maternity Leave. (Yeah, Jamie!) I've contacted the Service Center to see if someone else can do this for us. I'll let you know what happens.

UPDATE: For SOF12, Prospurring (Anne Gaal) will be the go-to person to report the url of your Challenge Blog. Please create your blog by Thursday, October 11, so that your challenge will be linked to the badges. Instead of Pea-mailing Jamie, this time you'll report the url of your challenge blog HERE where you'll find more information and step-by-step instructions. You can get your blog started early; just don't add the details until the Thursday and Friday before Opening Day.

Participants: Be sure to check the Challenge Discussion Threads and Blogs for complete details on each challenge. Also, when you participate in a challenge, leave a message on the Challenge Discussion Thread with a link to your gallery post so that the challenge thread goes back to the top of the board. It's good to keep the challenge threads rotating on the board. Let's keep them on page 1!

***I'm putting in the codes for posting the links beforehand. When the link is live, the words Discussion Thread and Blog Post will be in bold print.

Hi Daria,

I'll host one! I don't think participants will need any special materials. I'll name it closer to the event.

Thanks!

I'm trying to decide if I want to host 2 or 3 challenges. I have too many ideas. I do know for the one that I an definately hosting, participants will need sugar free powdered instant jello or pudding mix and embossing powder. But I'm being mysterious about it, so I won't tell you the name yet.

I will let you know soon if I'll be hosting another 1 or 2 challenges.

Three weeks to go!

I see lots of SOF12 planning threads. I'll add the suggested/required supplies to list of challenges on this thread.

Don't forget that often participants manage to do a challenge with alternative supplies--something they already have or can get instead of the suggested supply. Ask questions on the Challenge Discussion Threads when they open up. I'm always surprised by people's ingenuity in completing a challenge without having what I thought was an essential piece of equipment or other item.

Just three more weeks . . .

Ok, I've decided that in addition to what I'll call for now the mystery jello challenge, I'm going to host 2 more challenges. One is going to be called Get a Move on It and the other is Green Bag Inspiration.

So sorry, I won't be able to take part in the Stampfest. Will be out of town during the challenges. I do want to do the challenges, maybe during hang over week or after. Will be in Illinois visiting my sister.

Everyone have fun.

I might be able to offer a challenge - if I can get myself organized.

Will be watching from my IPAD

Gardencat, gotcha. Thank you. Right away I thought of something I have and haven't used. I even bought a book to teach myself how to do it. I don't think it has anything to do with your challenge, but I'm glad you made me think of it.

Ann, I have had to watch all the fun from afar a time or two too. It's still fun, and I often get more done during Hangover Week even when I'm home during the event. Have fun visiting your sister, and we'll see you during Hangover Week!

Me too, Anne. Matt forwarded my request to the person standing in for Jamie several days ago. I have not heard anything at all. Perhaps this person is swamped doing his/her own job and Jamie's most pressing duties as well. Maybe you'll have better luck.

We may have to do without badges and banners this time. We'll survive without them though they do add to the fun.

I have heard back from Matt and they are willing to help us work on the badges, but they would like one person to be the main contact.

Also, because Two Peas isn't open on the weekends, it would be easier to get the badges set up if everyone created their challenge blogs & threads on Thursday the 11th, instead of Friday the 12th.

So what do you think, Stamping Peas? Can we post the challenge blogs and threads on Thursday the 11th?

That's great, Anne! Even if we're not ready to post details, we can create the challenge blog. I just did mine right now:

SOF12 Good Things--Small Packages.

All I did was give my challenge a title, click on the type of post (Challenge), and put in the beginning and ending dates (October 13 and October 21). I indicated, "Details to Follow." Done.

All Two Peas needs to link the badges is the url to our blog posts. We can add details when we're ready. I won't link the blogs to the Master Thread until Thursday or Friday, October 11 or 12. That way people won't be clicking on unfinished challenge blogs.

Would you like to be the main contact since you got this process further along than I did? If you don't have time, I can still do it. People could let one of us know the url to their blog, and we can give the complete list to whoever needs the information. Matt?

Thank you for following through with this.

That's a great idea, Daria! I have already set up my challenge blogs, too... and plan to add the details later. If everyone could get their challenge BLOG part set up in advance (even if it is empty until later), that would be super!

SOF12 Shrink Plastic Challenge
SOF12 Hoarder's Pay It Forward Challenge

And I would be happy to provide the master list to the right person to get the badges set up. No problem.

I left a typical 'me' message on the blog for now...

FWIW... I think it might be good to do our content edit on the 11th just in case we run into a glitch in editing. Not trying to jinx us, but it has happened. KWIM?

Thank you, ladies. I've added the names of your challenges. I'll link the challenge posts the Thursday and Friday before Opening Day when we post the information about our challenges.

BTW, If you want your challenge to show up in alphabetical order when participants look for the check box they need to check when they post their entries in the gallery, then you'll need to eliminate the spacing and punctuation (commas, dashes, apostrophes, etc.) between SOF and 12.

SOF12 is all we need to begin the challenges' names--no spaces, no punctuation. That way all of our challenges will show up together in alphabetical order.

Can the marbles all be the same colour? I think I have a jar of those decorative glass balls that you can put around flower arrangements or in glass vases to add colour... somewhere.
Would they do as marbles?

I think I lost all my other marbles a long time ago...LOL in more ways than one.

If this challenge is what I think it is, those marbles need to roll. That's just my guess.

SOF12 Challenge

So, do I need to peamail anyone like we had to peamail Jamie last time? Or is that it?

Thanks, Christin and Anna-Karen.

Christin, you don't have to e-mail anyone. Anne will make a list of all the blog challenge urls and send them to whoever is going to link them to the badges.

I'm keeping track of them for the Master Thread, inserting them into a Word Document of the challenge section of the original post. We'll be way ahead of the game when it's time to post them.

Thank you, everybody.

Daria. I'm adding a 2nd SOF challenge: 'Past & Present Project'

Anne. Here's my link in case you need it for 'pass along'

I didn't give details about the actual challenge, but did include 'heads-up' I felt was necessary. I will also start a 'heads-up' discussion thread for this challenge since I want everyone to have a chance to play...

Thanks, again, to the Dynamic Duo for doing so much!

I added another challenge, too:
SOF12 Gratitude Challenge

All challenges to this point have been sent to our Two Peas rep.

Wow! You guys kept me hopping today. Will you just look at all the challenges!

I think I've got them all up-to-date here and in the Word Document where I'm keeping all the blog url's. I hope I don't make a mistake on that. I usually put the url's on this thead one at a time so if there's an error, I can easily find and fix it. Now I'll do them all at once and cross my fingers that is all is well.

Thanks, Everybody. This is going to be quite an event.
