Congrats on making it to Week 4!
This week is PAPER! (Noooooo!!!!) Yeeeesssss!
This is probably one of...if not THE most important weeks of the whole project. Why? Without paper you cannot craft... ok, you can cheat and go digi, but even THAT needs to be organized.
Confession: DH came home Saturday morning from 9 months in Afghanistan, so my blog and layout are still in the works. Darned you PA Me!...but we are as bad as our kids and cannot get enough of DH, so promise that by the end of Monday PST, it will be up!
So--
Questions of the Week (1 point each or just for fun!)
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er?
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week?
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme?
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate?
The POW says that it is OK to drink a glass of wine before starting this.
If you do not get this one done in 7 days DO NOT stress or give up. There is plenty of alumni around who will tell you that paper is a journey, and I myself am still tweaking it!

I'm off the hook this week! Proof: Paper Storage
Question 1: I mostly scrap in the mornings during the week when the kids are at school but over weekends it's whenever I can.
Question 2: Vertical paper storage.
Question 3: My cs is by colour, pp by manufacturer. I do have 4 categories of separate storage for Travel, Birthdays, School and Christmas; but these are only for paper that REALLY won't be used for anything else. There's not much so I have them stored in large pizza boxes on my bookshelf.
Question 4: Definitely dark chocolate! 75%+ is the best! Lindt also makes a orange flavour - heaven! |

I need to purge paper... This one could take me a while, because I think I need to sort through all the bins that are already organized.
QOTW #1: I scrap mostly late at night, if it's on the weekends. If I happen to have any time during the week, then it might be in the evening.
QOTW#2: I have CH vertical storage for all of my patterned paper, and horizontal trays for my cardstock.
QOTW#3: For patterned paper: I sort by manufacturer first, for all the lines that I love. So I have CH vertical organizers for companies like BG, LYB, etc. I do have a few organized by theme -- so Halloween, holidays, etc., are in their own categories, because for me. And then I have an "overflow" set for papers organized by color, for those that aren't in my "favorites."
QOTW#4: Dark chocolate!!

I'm done for the week, too! I'm "cheating" a little because I'm doing two challenges at once. Over on the ScrapRack website they're doing an organization challenge that I'm following, since I've been using some of their principles for several years now (even though I don't have a ScrapRack).
My paper storage
QOTW #1: I scrap any time of day. But when DH is gone, which has been a lot lately, I scrap at night. I try to get my chores done early and then scrapping is my reward!
QOTW#2: My paper is stored vertically. Always has been, always will be!
QOTW#3: 99% of my paper is now sorted by color (see my blog for my explanation). I have a few theme categories (Christmas, the arts, sports, travel).
QOTW#4: Ummm...ALL chocolate?!!? I do love a good dark chocolate the most.
Oh, and despite all the organizing last week, I did get my Halloween This and That kit finished. I don't have it up yet, but here's a link to Kerri Bradford's blog so you can see what it looks like! Kerri Bradford Halloween This and That kit |

Amanda, Congrats on the safe arrival of you DH back HOME. From our family to yours, thank you so much for the sacrifices your entire family makes for the US military.
I have no idea how you do it. I nearly lose it if my DH is gone for more than 5 days on business (stop laughing!!!) with just 2 little ones. While I'm definitely a strong woman and could do it if I absolutely had to, it sure would push me to some outer limit I don't like to think about unless I had no choice : and I'd need a big vacation full of quietness after that!!!

OK, I never got around to posting anything on my blog for last week; probably because I didn't really have anything to acomplish for the challenge. But I will definitly get to it this week!
Questions:
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? I am definitely a middle of the day scrapper. I often have good intentions of hitting the scrap room after dinner but rarely make it there; the Tudors on netflix (again) or a book usually draw me away.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week? I store my paper vertically...it's easier to go thru that way.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? I do a couple of different things here. I have my "most used cardstock colors" organized by color groups. Recently, I started buying patterned paper and matching cardstock TOGETHER and store them together; these I have sorted mostly according to theme (teen, flowery, birthday, are just a few of my themes) in accordion binders. In some respects I would like to take them out of the binders; however, I also would like as much as possible to use the organizational items I have on hand and so for now am going to leave them there
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? Anything but white....THAT AIN'T CHOCOLATE!! And if it has nuts or caramel, all the better!
I intend to spend the morning in my scraproom; hope to have a blog post to link later today.

Ditto what Heidi said re: your husband. I appreciate all the sacrifices all of you have made for us. Spend all the time you want with him.
Now on for this week's round:
I need to work on updating my blog, which I haven't touched in years. I really think that will be the way to go to keep track of my progress and keep me accountible.
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most?
I am a night owl after the baby is asleep. I go to one or two weekend crops per year, and I am a marathon all day-er at these (8am - 2am).
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you?
I store my patterned paper in vertical Cropper Hopper holders and my cardstock horizontally on paper shelves (white cubes). I also have some paper (Christmas and Halloween) in Artbin totes. This seems to work for me, so I don't plan on making any major changes.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme?
I would like to believe there is a method to my madness. I sorted all my patterned paper by color in the holders. But I couldn't bring myself to break up my Basic Grey packs so I left them together in their own holder. Which led to me keeping a few other sets together by brand. So I have three vertical holders sorted by brand (mostly collection packs), and nine sorted by color. I segregated Christmas into two Artbin totes, and Halloween into one tote. I did this because I don't need to access them often, only once or twice a year. I also have a Cropper Hopper Easy Access Paper Holder on top of my shelf for my most common themes - travel, baby, and sports. I want to tweek the themes a bit by putting them in the Cropper Hopper Paper Pouches in groups. Right now it is kind of a crowded mess.
Right now I have a box of paper unsorted (about 4 in. high), to be filed in paper holders. I have already purged a box of paper in the last few months (daycare was very grateful) but may need to purge more. If it doesn't fit in a paper holder it has to go, I am out of room.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate?
Dark chocolate is my fave, but I wouldn't turn down milk chocolate. |

QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er?
I tend to scrap whenever I can. I use to be an night owl but with third kid, I tend to crash by 8pm. If it's on weekend, during the day for about three hours.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week?
I store my papers vertically by cropper hoppers. I have them organize by colors, types, and manufacturer on some. I also have some paper sorted by themes.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme?
I have my solid cs by brand and colors-stamping up, bazzill and america craft, and other types of paper.
I'm changing my pattern paper by specific types--polka dots, stripes, ect. as I'm using sketches alot plus I want specific pattern paper to use. i haven't decide if i'm going to sort these by colors too.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate?
i like milk chocolate.. yummy
i haven't been able to get into my scraproom to take pictures. I'm hoping to tonight and tomorrow to show where paper is being stored and the process of sorting. |

Amanda I'm so glad that your family is back together!
Just popping in to share my paper storage idea. It's different and works for me, uhm ... worked might be more accurate.
Paper storage
of course, after I wrote that post Ikea has changed the style but with a little creativity you might be able to find a similar solution.
The rest of the project is labeled Craft Room 7 and if you read those you'll see I got stalled. lol So like I said, I'll pop in on and off.
Since I'm here I had better answer the questions
1. I'm an all day-er when I can but usually I'm an afternoon scrapper
2. Currently the paper is vertical and I don't really want to change it (no more room) but I have expanded into bags on the floor.
3. Method to my madness - It's mad but I have it sorted by all three methods and it works for me. Details here
Cardstock is separate and I hope to someday get it in the cabinet.
4. ALL chocolate is good.
See you all later |

Ha!! You can't scare me with paper! I did mine when I moved my room up from the basement. I do still need to do some labeling though. And I have to finish sorting my supplies from last week, so I have plenty to do.
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er? I work at all different times, depending on when I'm free. Ideally, I would probably work most in the afternoon.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week? I just switched to vertical after storing horizontally for years. I needed more storage and decided to try a few Cropper Hoppers. Well, I loved them so I switched everything over to those.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? I have tried every way of sorting imaginable. The one that worked best for the longest for me was sorting by pattern and theme. But, recently, I have found myself thinking not just "I need a stripe" but "I need a Fancy Pants stripe", so I have now sorted by manufacturer. So far so good on that. As for cardstock, I don't use a lot of that, so what I do have is in a bin under my desk, sorted by color. I plan to move it to Cropper Hoppers when I use some of my paper up. I did a lot of purging but still have a ton of paper so I've given myself a strict "buy 1 for every 2 you use rule.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? I really like all chocolate but dark is my favorite, the darker, the better.

I'd like to join in this week if it's okay. I was very busy the last two weeks with a seriously ill kitty who is now recovering and is getting better day by day. I'm a round 4 graduate (I think it was round 4), but I could use some tweaking here and there.
First of all I'm so happy your DH is home Amanda! Thank him for the service he has done for us and for our country.
On to your questions:
1. I was born a night owl. My parents tell me that they couldn't get me up in the mornings and that I never wanted to go to sleep at night. I'm still this way 51 years later. My best scrapping is after the sun goes down. I feel the most energetic and creative then.
2. I store my paper horizontally. For my cardstock I have a wonderful 60 tray Display Dynamics wooden unit that I bought when a scrapbook store was closing.I was in the right place at the right time and just got lucky. I still use a lot of cardstock and now (after the last challenge I did) the colors are stored in rainbow order.
I joined a scrapbook club called "Club Scrap" back in 2000. I'm still a member and have several kits still being hoarded in my room-you know the old, "it's so pretty I don't want to ruin it by cutting into it". I'm getting over that now thank goodness. Their paper is the only printed paper I use so I'll call that my printed paper stash. Anyway, years ago I started buying Display Dynamic stacking paper trays a bit at a time. I just kept stacking them up and now I have 3 towers of printed paper (my kits) in them. Each tray holds a kit. I made labels for the kits last go around, but I didn't get done. This week I will complete that and take photos.
I also have some 81/2 x11 paper I use for stamping to sort, store and label this week. I will take photos and share them when I am finished.
3. Answered above in question 2.
4. I like milk chocolate and dark chocolate but I'm a chocolate snob-I was born in Germany and spent my childhood there. It has to be German chocolate or Swiss. American chocolate is too sweet. And Michelle, you are so right-that Lindt orange flavor is incredible!

QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er?
Night or afternoon scrapper. Unless I have an idea I cannot get out of my head and do it first thing in the morning (hah hah!)
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week?
Vertically, in the tote. And I will not change this. This is the most space friendly place to store it.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme?
Alphabetical by vendor, then line. Cardstock in ROYGBIV. The 6x6 pads are sorta on their own, but they're in there too!
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate?
I'm swiss, if I didn't like chocolate, I'd probably have been disowned.

QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er?
I scrap in the evenings or on rainy weekends. Also when I can't sleep (which is often) I will go to my room and scrap for a few hours.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week?
I do both. My cardstock is stored on a horizontal rack I purchased from a LSS that closed. My patterned paper is stored vertically
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? Cardstock by colour. Patterned by Manufacturer and collection.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? YES to all!

QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er? I'm definitely a night owl...always have been. I think better and am more creative near the end of the day.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week? I store my 12x12 paper vertically and my 8x8 paper horizontally. Overall, it's not too bad since I don't have too much paper, but I am always looking for anything that will work better.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? I started with my solid papers sorted by color and then the paper stacks together. I was thinking of breaking up the stacks, but I'm a bit hesitant to do that right now. I have a couple of folders for themed paper, such as Christmas, Birthdays, Baby and Wedding (did three wedding scrapbooks last year and have 4 baby books planned for the near future).
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? My favorite is milk chocolate, but I know that dark is better for me, so that's what I try to have the most. Don't like white chocolate...it just doesn't taste the same.
12x12 Solid Cardstock : I don't have much paper so I am able to store all the solid 12x12 cardstock in these two Jetmax cubes. I have dividers in the cubes which allows me to store three different colors in each divided opening. The last couple of divided openings have some specialty papers such as glitter, pearl and core cardstock.
8x8 Cardstock and 12x12 Paper Stacks : My solid 8x8 cardstock is stored horizontally in one Iris box and the patterned 8x8 is in another Iris box. I also have a few pieces of 8.5x11 cardstock in a Sterlite container. The 12x12 Paper stacks are stored vertically in a Cropper Hopper container.
Here's a card that I created

Yay paper! Although I have to say in Week 1, finding the paper was my strong point. Now for the questions.
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er? I probably scrap more after other things are done, but since I am in limbo career wise, other things can be done as early as 11 a.m. to mid-afternoon, depending on my schedule and how early I get up.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week? Vertically, I recently had changed the loose paper from a more horizontal system in stacked trays when this started. It's working fine. I liked my trays a little better, but I had to put scrapbooks in there.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? It is sorted by color, except for the stacks, which have no method to their madness.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? Dark chocolate, hands down #1. White chocolate, distant second. Milk chocolate is OK.
I will take a look at the links, but no wine just yet. Very, very soon, I am leaving for "Food Fest" and I think they are serving wine there. |

QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most?- MOST of my pages get done at marathon week end crops. At home it could be any time of day. This year I am now an "empty nester" so I am just getting used to my new life style
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? Mostly veritcal for patten paper by manufactures/stacks. Card stock is horizontal by color. (Of course there is that huge heap of unsorted paper....)
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Cardstock by color. Stacks/pads by manufacturer and season. Random pieces by theme and color.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? DARK!!
The POW says that it is OK to drink a glass of wine before starting this. (s a gin and tonic okay?
Goal- to go through those heaps of "unsorted" papers and find a home for them. I have a few bags from CKC's and a random box that is completely unsorted. If paper is sorted in some way I definitely am more likely to use it.
I did make a few "projects" this week. Every month I am sending my dd at college (almost 3000 miles away) a monthly theme care package of surprises and treats. I made a pillow box with my cutter (for seasonal tea bags) , and stamped several Halloween sentiments on tags for the little gifts I wrapped for her (Halloween socks, energy bars, some Halloween decorations, mittens). |

Amanda, thanks for getting me going with organization. I have been following the past few weeks, but haven't been able to get much done.
As to this week's questions:
1. Scrap whenever I get at least 30 minutes to work. Generally in the am. I do prefer to scrap when there is daylight even with Ott lights, I want a better idea of color.
2. Vertical all the way
3. There is a method, but I get sidetracked from it when I buy new patterned patter.
4. Dark chocolate.
I thought my organization was ok, but then my good friend, that used to work at our LSS (that is now out of business), decided to get rid of all her scrapping stuff.
By trial and error, I found that using the cropper hopper paper organizers works best for me. I have 2 rolling carts as well, but I would need two more to hold everything, even after purging. So one is now in my granddaughter's playroom for her scrapbook paper (ie, the home of my purged papers.0
I really need 4 more of the white storage cubes so that I can have all the paper in one place. Unfortunately, I can't find any of the original cropper hopper cubes like I already have. The ones from Michaels and the Jet Max cubes are a different size!
My before pictures are on my ipad, so I'll have to figure out how to upload later.

#1: I mainly scrap at night when everyone in the house is asleep...or supposed to be asleep.
#2 and #3: all my paper is stored vertically except my "new" paper which is currently stored horizontally in an iris box. My "new" paper storage is something I'm changing because i want to make it more accessible from my table. However, I don't know how I'm changing it right now. The majority of my CS and PP is sorted by color and stored in cropper hoppers. I've used this method for over a decade (but had different storage/holders initially). I also vertically sort some PP by theme (such as Christmas, other holidays, specific sports, etc.) and store it in a box with vertical cardboard dividers that are "built in" the box. A select few PP is sorted and stored by manufacturer because I love them too much to separate and store by color. I also have some "specialty" paper stored vertically (I keep items like canvas sheets, cork sheets, foam sheets, some Ranger/CH sheets, acetate sheets, and fabric papers here.). All of this seems to work for me right now.
#4: I actually don't love chocolate but I do enjoy orange flavored chocolate if I were to choose...I think a few others of you mentioned that as well. (and every once in a long while if I do crave chocolate, I need some really good stuff from across the pond or John and Kira's in Philadelphia is another fave)
As for my paper progress this week, I was able to give the one small stack of unsorted paper I had proper homes. I also went thru my PP in my cropper hoppers and purged some. I am quite happy with the volume I have of PP and feel it is very reasonable, so I'm good with that. The only thing left I still need to sort is my scraps basket under my table and distribute some of those items to my scrap file folders and maybe make a few cards. And decide how to get my "new" papers to a more user-friendly place
That's it for me this week I think...

Yeah! for week 4! And Yeah! that ScrappinBee's DH is home! Give him a big thank you!!!
This week should be easy for me, as all my paper is pretty much organized already! But there's always room for improvement.
I am going to have to update my blog either tomorrow or Tuesday with updated pictures of my scrap closet .. I gaine a shelf for my stuff and organized some of my memorabilia!!!
As for the questions:
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er?
I am a night owl when it comes to pretty much ANYTHING, especially scrapbooking! Now that the kids are in school, I can get some of it done during the day.
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week?
Horizontally. I don't think I could do it vertically without having it curl up. I have my cardstock in a Paper Taker that is stored under one side of my desk. When I need it, I roll it out and open it up. CS is organized by color.
Patterned paper is sorted in 12x12 project boxes. I have paper packs altogether, then for any single sheets, I have a box that is sorted by main color. These papers are *general* patterned paper. Any specific themed paper (i.e. Christmas, Birthday, etc.) I have sorted with any stickers, embellishments, etc. in its own box.
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme?
I guess I answered that in question 2!
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate?
Milk chocolate is #1 for me. Every once in a while, I can handle dark chocolate. White chocolate ... rarely. It just depends. Straight chocolate? Definitely milk. Chips in a cookie/brownie? Could be any kind, and I'd be happy!!! |

I'm late! Last week was my crazy week but I survived and am ready to organize again!
QOTW #1: What time of day do you scrap the most? Are you a night owl, or *gasp* an early riser? Or are you a marathon all day-er? During the week I'm a night owl, although that has changed since I have to get up early to get my kids off to school. On the weekend I will scrap all day if they let me!
QOTW#2: Currently, do you store your paper vertically, or horizontally? and does that work for you? Or are you looking to make a change this week? Both! Works fo me, just need to put it away!
QOTW#3: Do you have a method to your madness? Ie-Paper sorted by color? Vendor? Theme? Most of my paper is sorted by color. PP together and cardstock together. I do have some themes- Baby girl (the album I'm currently working on), Halloween/Fall, Christmas/Winter, and a couple of mini kits with papers that all go together or ones that are for specific projects. I store them with my scraps.
QOTW#4: Do you like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or eewwww chocolate? Milk chocolate!! Especially from Hawaii with macadamin nuts!
I'll post a link to pictures of my paper storage in the gallery when I get them up.
I did not create last week. But I did remember that I never quite finished the two mini albums for my kids' 1st birthdays. Just need to do some journaling and final embelishments. Adding it to the list!

I actually picked out some papers that might need to be donated! I did not think I could do it, but about two dozen papers that I have not used in probably more than 3 years are now in a bag marked "For possible donation." If I don't pull them out before I figure out who might want them, they are gone! |
