Not to bring the thread down but little Emma's cancer has spread more and they've called in Hospice. Nothing else can be done. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. Not sure how long they're going to have their little princess and praying that they'll be able to enjoy each day. For those that don't know, Emma is a little girl from here, she just turned 4. I've been requesting prayers for over a year. She fought and we thought beat cancer right before Christmas but they were wrong. This is the child I'm walking in the CureSearch walk to raise money for children's cancer research for in Nov.

It's so sad to hear little ones suffering with such a terrible thing. I will keep her in my thoughts.

Two different flip flops that's a sight to be seen lol.

I finished my layout yay me. I just hate my hand writing but I had to put something in that spot. I will get it uploaded and linked to the thread in about 30 min.

Hi all,

Diana! So good to see you. And lots of other people coming back...I like that.

CONGRATULATIONS NYLENE & WANDA

We have two new grand baby boys! I am so excited and happy for you both (all of us! LOL)

It's been quite a week around here. We had a heat wave (3 days >100 at the BEACH) and it made every one crazy, I swear! My children were sleeping until 8 am and my husband has grouchy. Stuart is NEVER grouchy unless he's hot.

We had our share of car trouble and my car finally showed its true colors (lemon yellow!) so we dumped it...sold it back to the dealer for a fraction of what we paid after owning it (and taking perfect care of it) for 5 years. SO ANNOYING. We bought a mini van. I can't explain how difficult it was for me to accept that I have to drive a car with doors that slide. I've come a long, long way from high performance, sport suspension, 6 speed manual transmissions. But it's the right car for my job. so there it is.

Monica - I'm sorry about your brother moving. I know it's hard when someone you love moves away! I think everyone is right...your path is leading towards OR.

Michelle -- I have fixated on your trip...the days you went away by yourself. I can't stop thinking about it. I feel swamped by life and I think I really need to make that happen for myself. Tell me that the effects were long-lasting and you're still feeling energized and relaxed!!!????

Debi - I'm too late with my perspective on this, but maybe you can keep it in mind in the future. I agree with everyone who said if someone is advanced, put them in advanced classes. But more importantly, I watched my young twin nephews (17 now) progress through school and what I saw was that the more academically inclined of the boys was never motivated to try very hard until they separated the boys into different classes (they were about 13 when it happened). After the separation, Elliot got a lot more serious about school and excelled in more subjects. It seems that he didn't want to 'up stage' Callum when they were together, but once they were in different rooms, he felt perfectly comfortable doing his best, and not just 'good enough.' Food for thought.

It's late here (10 pm) and we just ate ice cream cookie sandwiches!! There is a company here in Santa Cruz that makes cookies and DELIVERS THEM TO YOUR HOUSE! So we did that tonight. We ordered the oatmeal cookie/vanilla ice cream sandwich. It was very cool (other than the unnecessary calories, of course) and super tasty! I'm thinking that will happen again!

I don't remember who mentioned laundry but they accurately described my life. It's like those dirty clothes breed in the hamper!? WTheck is THAT!? I need to fold one more load for today then I can go to bed.

It was nice to check in with you all (I read the end of last month and all of this).

G'night all!!

Barbara

BARBARA I know most people believe I should push for the gifted program, but every teacher that has had my "gifted son" has recommended I don't because he refuses to take direction. And he doesn't value school. Until middle school he never had a class with his brother so the issue of separating them isn't really the issue. In fact I think having them together has motivated my other son to try harder. The issue becomes even more pronounced in high school because it would mean having the boys at different schools altogether and that is really hard on me. If my son had any interest in school I might have a different attitude but it's a daily struggle. I don't think it's due to not being challenged; he's just not into school.

survived 4 hours of headgear tonight, not without complaining. Tomorrow it goes up to 6 hours. They will be at their dad's so I hope he follows through. Still waiting to hear if he's going to let them play frisbee Saturday. He's being a bit passive aggressive about the whole thing.

Pilotswife (I forgot your name) I can't see your LO...keep getting the 404 error and it's not showing up in your gallery yet. Hope to see it tomorrow. Glad you were able to finish it.

I finished one more lO tonight

Good morning everyone!

Debi - LOL, I thought the extractions couldn't have anything to do with teeth Total misunderstanding on my side. I haven't plucked up the courage to attempt the desktop yet. Yeah, I know it can't be too difficult, just being a wus. It is a PC on Windows 7, I think. Will check with Heinrich - it's his computer. Haha, it'll actually be great if I can fix it for him. He's so slow at getting anything DIY done, it drives me up the wall sometimes.I have so many pictures still not hung around the house too, but I'm not allowed to do it. 'Consider it done.' was his last comment (2 months ago) and the photo collage is only half-way up. He ran out of certain screws and, well, I now have an odd collection of photos in a 'H' shape on the wall and the rest still on the floor. Men!

Barbara - I know, right? Once the idea of time on my own got stuck I just couldn't let go. It took some planning and a bit of guilt, but it definitely helped. I DO still feel more relaxed, my brain doesn't feel fried and I'm even a bit more patient with the kids (though I can't wait for school to start again Monday - they are driving me mad today!) Sorry to do it to you, but a short break DOES WORK That heat sounds awful - ice cream for dinner is perfect!

Diana - wow, your schedule sounds full. I was home room mom for my kids for a few years too and it just never ends. This year I took a break and thank goodness too. Don't think I'd be able to handle that too. But I do miss knowing exactly what is going on at school. You have advanced warning of any activities/ events and get to know some of the other parents too. Do you also find it's always the same people who get involved?

Wanda - Aww, he's such a cutie! Thanks Theresa and Debi for posting the photo.

Sharmiece(?pilotswife) - your LO is also giving me the dreaded 404 error message. But I'm glad to see you scrapped (and posted) something. Lovely to see you around again.

I decided this morning I'm going to have acrylic nails done again next week. My finances have stablised enough and my own nails just are not recovering. They keep splitting and it's horrible working with the public and trying to hide a broken/short nail. It's such a confidence boost for me when my nails look nice. So I'm off to make an appointment.

I got the SC mistable fabric feathers yesterday and they will be perfect for Monica's stash challenge. Now to find photos for them...

morning girls -

lovin' that photo of Wanda and Cole! Thanks for posting it, Theresa and Debi.

Theresa - thinking of Emma and her family and sending many, many prayers.

Debi - I understand your gifted dilemma. My only thought was, if he was in a gifted program and was in classes where he had to try harder
because other kids would, and they would not be "average" and ok with it, would he get a little more motivated? I see sometimes that kids I work with in inclusion will try harder to keep up with other kids, and also kids who shouldn't have a problem sometimes get lazy because they
want the help from me (or other parapros). They're not thinking long term at all, and just don't want to do the work, or have their work cut down like the kids I work with. It's an all around frustration, I know.
My heart goes out to you. I wish you luck.

Monica B - sending you some huge hugs, girl. I understand your missing them. Since my mom passed, my brother John has only come once, and Thom and Jimi haven't at all (not that I expected them too though). But I miss all our times together.

Diana - it's wonderful to hear how well Daniel is doing. Kudos to him and you I know what you mean about being the room mom; it's a lot of work. I did that for years, up until I started working here at the school. I did get other girls to help a lot though, especially when it involved the Church activities, too. But I'm so glad I was able to do that.

Michelle - I know what you mean about the nails; mine are looking awful these days. I hate it. But the funds are just not there right now. I'm glad things are looking up for you.

Ok, I've spent way too much time on here...and I'll be late. Poor Kevin is sick now and he really wants to stay home, but I'm moving him along, LOL. Although he probably should stay home, he's still too new at his job to do that.

So, I hope you all have a great day....

Good Morning All! It's Friday, whoo hoo!!!! Don't get to leave at lunch today because we all have to stay for a short staff meeting (ROFL, meetings are never short). I have my monthly crop tonight and have everything packed up (I hope) to just add it to the car when I get home. I'm taking stuff to have everyone make a Halloween mini book using the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge. REALLY cute covers!!! Ended up having to go buy an extra long Cricut mat and a deep cut blade to cut the chipboard which made cutting out the covers a lot easier. Tonight everyone can decorate their own. My friends are quite excited, phone has been ringing off the hook all week. Guess that means for a REALLY late night tonight. Wish I'd slept better, but I can sleep all day tomorrow if I want, LOL.

Sending happy wishes to all for an awesome day.

TGIF, right!? Today the kids have no school for a teacher in-service. Rebecca went for an upper GI early this am. All looks OK on that. Think we are going to take the kids to Hotel Transylvania movie later today.

Theresa- praying for Emma's family. So hard to grasp when God takes children. praying for her comfort during her last days. Wish I could come take your class!!

Michelle- glad things are looking up- I agree, it's important to set side time for us, and just do it and ignore the other things. I need to take that advice better. enjoy the nails! I had them when I was younger- but am so hard on them that I broke them a lot. I do treat myselves to pedicures.

Congrats to the new Grandma's- the babies are adorable!!! can't wait to see baby layouts from you two.

Barbara- ice cream delivery to your house??? my hips would show how often I ordered if that was the case here. enjoy the new ride- I seriously love my van- you will too. what kind did you get.

Diana- arrgh- that is a lot of classes to manage! why doesn't each class have their own room mom ? enjoy Daniel's time this weekend- glad he has matured so much.

Welcome back Sharmiece!

Melanie- saying prayers for your Dad. good idea to take the kits to the hospital.

Monica B- hope you are adjusting OK to Justin and Amy being gone. How is your Mom taking it? Cute new stuff in your etsy store! You've been subbing a lot it seems- good for you. Yes, it was Emma. She was with us for 7 hours. Her Grandpa had brain radiation and he's not responding well, they're having to admit him to full time care facility. Very sad.

OK, I think I'm going to set the timer and do some cleaning for 30 minutes and then set it for an hour to scrap! although I think my scrap desk is a mess, so I might have to spend that hour cleaning it up before I can work.

SHARMIECE still getting the dreaded 404 error. Keep trying--we want to see.

TGIF I'm trying to pretend I'm not up yet. LOL. Got the garbage out, the kids to school, 2 cups of tea drank, read my mail, email, and the bulletin board and started on the living room furniture moving but had to hunt down a longer coaxial cable for the tv in order to move the tv, and an extension cord, then got distracted in the basement and ended up folding laundry...well you know how it goes.

Now I see everything needs dusting...and I should vacuum before putting a piece of furniture back on that area of carpet...and it goes on and on ...

Hope your day is more organized than mine.

Sharmiece, that worked. Congrats on getting a page done. That's on my list this weekend. I'm working on cards right now for card club.

Little Alex gets cuter every day. They should be going home from the hospital tomorrow. It's so nice to have a new baby!

Linda, I got a good chuckle about the flipflops. Cute!

Theresa, I wish I could come teach ETA: that's TAKE your class. It sounds wonderful. Be sure to post so we can see. So sorry about Emma. She's included in my prayers. It's so hard when cancer hits children. Rachel seems to be responding somewhat to her treatments at St. Jude's, but they don't really think this will be a cure.

Barbara, ice cream cookies sounds sooooooo good. This dieting is getting old. I have lost close to 2 lbs a week, though, so I guess I need to stay strong......for the rest of my life!! I sure miss the sugar, and DH misses the salty treats.

Michelle, sorry about your computer. Wouldn't that be a treat if you and Debi could fix it. Your DH would be so surprised at your techno-abilities.

Debi, I guarantee that the headgear and braces will get better. I had one child that was such a complainer about them, and now she has 2 children in braces. I have to chuckle.

Toni, nice to see you. I'm sorry Kevin is sick. Is he liking his new job? I made a quick trip to J's yesterday and thought about you. Wish we lived closer.

Diana, so glad Daniel is doing well. It's amazing how "wonderful, kind, and intelligent" parents suddenly become after a child moves away from home for a while. I know you are busy. Em has been a room mom every year for one of her girls. She was glad they didn't even approach her this year. She needs a break with the baby. You know there will be special rewards in heaven for room mothers, don't you?

Tammy, what fun things do you and your family have planned for Fall Break?

Melanie, I'm so sorry about your dad. Adding him to my prayers. Hope everything goes well and he recovers quickly.

Off to the hospital to visit. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Happy Saturday All!

Had a great crop last night, the books were a hit but it was a lot harder to do than I had hoped. Forgot to tell them to be careful and match the pages up the same way so several people ended up with a book slightly off center when they connected them together. (The image of the monster and house were cut with a Cricut and isn't the exact size on the front and back but it is close enough to have to really watch.) All in all though everyone had a blast. Rain was coming in so we got out at 11:30. We're going to move the monthly crop to a Saturday starting next month (well we're going to try). More people can come that way and the ones of us that work won't be so tired. Been trying to get them to do that for a few months and finally got an okay from the hold outs last night. (Yes, I lead it and could have just changed it but I look at it as the ones that have been coming the longest are are equally in charge. We make united decisions.)

Plan on dragging all my stuff back out of the car and putting it up today while I work on organizing the scrap stuff so I can actually use my desk again. Not even taking a shower today, staying in all day!!!

Praised to here!

1/2 hr to ex's house to pick up boys, 40 minutes to get to game, 1 hr to drive back to ex's house to drop off boys, and get this, 1 1/2 hr to get back home. Traffic was horrendous and so many roads ate closed on weekends for repair I just couldn't get home. ALl of this for 1 1/2 hrs of game time--we lost BTW but went out fighting. Oy! Now I'm tired and I didn't do anything yet.

Still feeling awful; can't eat anything without getting severe stomach cramps and digestive issues...so drinking tea and feeling tired and cranky. Got to change the fish bowl water eventually today but right now I'm sitting and watching Hallmark movies. Maybe reading would be better or a nap.

Still have to hook up the electronics that go with the tv since I moved everything around.

Hope you are scrapping.

Debi, must be a day for tummy issues, spent most of the afternoon in the bathroom. Bummer that your ex is such a pain about the boys sporting events. You'd think he'd want to watch them play. He'll regret that one day.

Did absolutely nothing this morning and then took a nap to recover! Finally got tired of seeing the new computer that I bought for Father's Day so I've hooked it up, much nicer than the old one. Have to say though the wires and mess that had to be dealt with took forever so I can see why Randy was hesitant to deal with it. With all the ATT extra boxes to get internet and phone service plus all the computer wires for two printers, back up drives and a CD burner--geesh! Sadly I've spent so much time doing all that and no time at all working on my scrap stuff so I still have a ton of work to do. May be thinking that nap wasn't long enough!

Just stopping in to say hello. It's been a cold(I think I haven't been outside) rainy day here. I've had the worst migraine today. Three out of the five in my house aren't feeling good which sucks. I hope it's just because of the sudden weather change.

Monica I hope you enjoy CKC I went and had fun. I enjoyed my classes. I was bummed that some of the vendors that I thought where going to be there weren't.

I hope you ladies have had a wonderful day. Back to sleep I go!

hi everyone! Happy World Cardmaking Day!

My friend & I had a much-needed girls' day today We shopped at the CKC vendor fair (spent WAY too much). It was her first time, so she had a blast! Then we were starving, so we pigged out at Olive Garden. We went to Maurices to shop (her first time there) and I got some cute fall tops. Then we did a bit more damage at Archivers!! I think the cardmaking bug bit me, because I am all of a sudden itching to start Christmas cards Amazing, this is early for me to start! So I got some goodies to get me started.

Tomorrow I am determined to have a crafty day at home I can't wait! It will be perfect to stay cozy inside the house -- it sure turned cold all of a sudden this week. Almost like it skips right from summer to winter. UGH!

Sharmiece- Yeah, I noticed a difference in the vendors there this year. There was a lot more of the "discount/closeout" booths with old product. And some of the ones I normally look forward to were either bare & disappointing or not there at all. I was surprised that Jenni Bowlin had a booth there, though. Her husband was the one running the booth!

Theresa & Debi- hmm, weird... I have been having tummy issues lately, too. But I think mine is my ulcer acting up again.

Tammy- I think my mom is doing better about Justin & Amy being gone than me... She is missing them, though. How did you know I put new stuff in my Etsy shop?! I was sad that it didn't bring many new orders, though That's sad about Emma's grandpa. Yes, I have been subbing a bit more, but some are just half days. I have a full day on Monday, though, so that's good!

Toni- Bummer that you don't see your brothers much. I'm hoping that isn't the case with Justin. I have a feeling, though, that his girlfriend will be dragging him out here every once in a while because she is really close to her family.

Michelle- Good for you for treating yourself to a manicure! Ohh those SC mistable feathers are so fun. I have had my eye on them for a while!

Barbara- Yes, it's becoming more & more clear to me that I will probably end up in Oregon soon. West coast = best coast, right? That's crazy about your heat wave... we had a cold front here!

Theresa- So sad about poor Emma. Prayers for her & her family.

Ugh, this weekend is flying by way too quickly. I have so much I want to do but no time to do it. Okay, the 3 hour nap yesterday didn't help, but it sure helped me!

The whole family decended on the gocery store last night to do our monthly stock up. I normally go alone but it went much quicker with Heinrich starting at one end me on the other. Think we'll split the list down the middle again...

My dad is coming for lunch today. Haven't seen him in more than a month, so it's way overdue. He is keeping busy, but is getting lonely. DH made bean stew but has had to go in to work, so it'll just be Dad and I (and the kids).

Toni - enjoy the break next week. We go back to school tomorrow.

Sharmiece - congrats on Cam's birthday.

Theresa - terrible news about Emma. So sorry.

Monica - love your new photo. Very summery.

Right, need to get my backside off the chair and do something!

Well I knew in my heart yesterday would be Emma's last day, told Randy early in the day. It was. She's not in pain anymore. Know starts her family picking up the pieces and moving on. I'm still doing the CureSearch fundraiser just in her memory now instead.

Monica, the last CK I went to was disappointing too. Didn't even go to the last one that was nearby. Have fun being crafty today. I almost got my mess cleaned up yesterday and am going to try and do something today. We'll see.

THERESA my heart goes out to EMMA's parents and to you. SO sad, so fast. No one can prepare for loss of a child. It breaks my heart. I just got news of a virtual friend's teen dd has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She's doing chemo and radiation therapy but outlook isn't good...but miracles can happen and every case IS a different case. So Theresa as you participate in the walk, add HANNAH's name to your list of who you are representing please.

THERESA, MICHELLE, MONICA B sounds like we're on the same wave length. Naps, stomach issues, .... hard to get anything done, isn't it?

THERESA sounds like you should take the COMP/TIA A+ exam after setting up your dh's computer. I hate all the wires too, which is why I like laptops better.

I felt awful yesterday and ended up laying down to take a nap and never got up til this morning. Still having stomach cramps but at least I'm more rested. The hardest thing about getting older especially with health issues, is not having any energy or stamina. I hate wanting to do stuff and not have the strength or energy to do it. But given things could be much worse I shouldn't complain.

SO that fish tank still needs cleaning and then maybe I'll just try to clean a path from it through the house and hope I end up in the kitchen before I starve--LOL

have a good day.

popping in while I eat my lunch between church and baseball....

Theresa- prayers and prayer for Emma's family. just heart breaking news.

Michelle- I prefer grocery shopping solo- helps keep the bill down!

Monica B- I got feed on my fb that your etsy shop added new products. can you pin them on pinterest to create more views? Will your MOm conider moving to Oregon more now that Justin is there?

Nylene- we don't get a fall break here from school. only 2 days at Thanksgiving. My mama is coming out at Thanksgiving. How's the grandbaby!?

No fall breaks here either and the school keeps changing their schedule so a little confused as to what days we have off. Guess they got too much flack from the extra 15 days of 2 hr early dismissals they announced so now retracting their plan and reduced to only 5 extra early dismissals days. I think we still lost our mid-winter break though. Kids now upset that they need to attend school more hours than required due to the last change. We'll see if they make up for that later.

Here's a LO done for the Stash and Bookmarks challenges.

Hi everyone,
Well the fall weather has finally arrived here, we're supposed to be in the 80's this week and 70's by next week. Love that I can turn off the a/c and open windows.

CONGRATULATIONS WANDA & NYLENE ON THE NEW GRANDBABIES! They are both very cute and I'm sure you are just enjoying them.

Theresa Prayers for little Emma's family. It just breaks my heart.

Barbara You will come to love your mini van and wonder why it took you so long to get one. I was sad when I gave up my car for the mini van, but got over it real quick. So much easier to haul the girls around in.

I know there's more but I can't remember now and I need to get off this thing and clean up the house. Girls have 1/2 days all next week as it's conference week so I won't be doing much except living in the mini van

VALERIE I agree, I love my van. SO much easier to get in and out of, easier to haul stuff and kids. And drives as easy as a car. I haven't missed my Honda Civic at all.

Ok I cleaned the fish tank. Hopefully they will live another day. Now to do something else productive. I want to scrap but I think it isn't the most productive thing I could be doing...darn it.

managed to keep 2 meals of rice down. Can't seem to tolerate anything else but at least I'm not starving. Hope this bug or whatever is causing the stomach gymnastics will pass soon. It's quite annoying.

This week is busy. Hoping to put in 2 days of volunteering (~4 hrs ea), plus I'm spending all day at school on Tuesday to help with photo day, Tuesday night is Music meeting and exchange of concert wear, Thursday night we have Curriculum night. NO school on Friday. These weeks just fly, don't they?

If I get organized around here it will make the week go easier, right? I keep trying to motivate myself to clean house. Why is it so hard?

Prays for Emma's family. Cam has been under the weather so we didn't sing happy Bday until today. He actually blew out the candles. He was so cute. This weather seems to have lost of people sick. We have fall break this week so school agers will be home. I hope the week goes by fast lol.

Happy Birthday, Cam!

Hey girls -

just jumping on to say hi. fell asleep on the couch, as usual; woke
up and played a couple of games on the phone found another one I'm hooked on, too...Scramble.

Theresa - so sorry about Emma...my heart goes out to them. It's just so sad when we lose little ones.

Someone tapped into my Paypal account and now my bank account is overdrawn...sigh...I hope they figure it out soon. So frustrating.

Here is a page I did last month and I can't remember why, or what the challenge even was, LOL, but I do like it.

our family tradition

Anyway, I'll be stopping by in a little bit again.

Good Morning Peas!

Thought I'd run by and catch up on the chatter. I actually get to go to my office today, I haven't been there in a couple of weeks because I've had so many meetings. I'm sure I'll have a pile there, but it will be nice to catch up a little.

Debi - Our schools moved onto a "balanced calendar" this year. They basically get 6 weeks off for summer, but then get 2 weeks off for Fall Break and Spring Break, along with 2 1/2 weeks at Christmas. There were parents who complained about it (of course), but we were really excited about it. We also have the thing where the kids get out early by 45 minutes every Wednesday, that's when they do all of the teacher education, so we don't have any other days off. I hope they get your kids' schedules worked out for next year.

We had a good weekend, watched the Colts win a close game...yay! And did youth group last night with the middle school kids. I hope you all have a good day!

Just flying bye to say hello. First day of school and kids already have homework, sport has started and Sean has speech therapy this afternoon. No easing into it today

My brother has me green with envy again - e-mailed photos of them scuba diving in Thailand. I just keep telling myself they are in for a culture shock when they start working again next year. A year off has it's drawbacks (not).

Theresa - so sorry for Emma's family. But she is free from pain now.

Evening all, Happy Columbus Day. Didn't know it was Columbus Day, LOL.

Wilson (baby doc) is on vacation this week and Doc had surgery all day so we didn't have patients today. We thought we were going to have computer training today but they didn't get the new program started so everyone, but me, e got to enjoy the day off. Way too much stuff for me to do on Monday's and with neither Doc there a nurse was a necessity. Would have been nice to have someone else there to help answer the phone today but it was also VERY nice to have no one complaining or sitting on their butts doing nothing so I survived. I just had to answer a lot of voice mails when the phone rang when I was on it. Explained I was the only one there and everyone was really nice about it. That's how I found out it was Columbus Day, one of the patient's told me that they didn't know if we would be open or not.

As for the comments on my Mini Album, yes, my Cricut got quite the workout. There were 9 people making the albums (two did the house instead of the monster). Had to replace the blade, LOL! We had two going nonstop all night. Also had the Cuttlebug there and there were a lot of die cuts made with it as well as tons of stickers. Everyone did their inside the way they wanted to. We shared supplies. One of the ladies even put a "tail" on the back of her monster. She also put a HUGE mouth with a bright red tongue. Should have taken photos to show you the different designs, really cute!

Debi - glad your tummy is settling down.

Theresa - not fun being the only one at work, but sometimes it can be a very productive time; if only the phone wouldn't ring, lol.

Tammy - it's not the start of our school year, rather the start of our 4th term, the end-of-year shift. Our schools run on a calendar year. It's always a busy term and exams looming already. I made my appointment for the new nails for Friday - can't wait. Not sure if I'd let anyone near my feet for a pedi, lol. They are in a state. But we do need to treat ourselves.

Barbara - your balanced calendar school sounds a lot like ours. We have 6 weeks over Christmas (summer here), 10-14 days over Easter and again in September and a mid-year break of 3 weeks. Of course, we have a LOT of public holidays (the British call them Bank holidays?); at least one a month, so that helps with lots of long weekends too. Not so good for businesses, but great for kids!

Have a great Tuesday all!

morning girls -

Debi - praised your last page two times...LOL. Although I knew they were the same, I thought maybe you did one for one child and one for the other, but I see that you added the page twice, LOL. Sorry.

Anyway....all praised up.

Well, Larry and Megs are sick now. Megs won't go to work today...she tried going all weekend and it just made her worse so she needs to get better. She and Larry seem to have more of "flu" like symptoms compared to the cough/cold symptoms Kevin and I had. Larry and I were supposed to go to one of my Joanne bosses this afternoon so he can look at one of her fans/lights to see if he can fix it for her, but I'm not sure if we're still going or not. I wouldn't mind not going so I can actually get something done around here without interruption, but we'll see. It's a little ways away from us. But she's also the one who gives me the hours I want too, so can't really not do something for her.

Off to check my e-mails to see if I've heard from Paypal or the bank.
Will probably have to go to the bank though...sigh. I just want to be lazy today, I guess. A stay-in-my-jammies and putz around the house kind of day

Have a great day, girls.

Good Morning Ladies!

Just stopping by real quick. This week is all half days for the girls at school, it's parent-teacher conference week, so not much getting done at home it's a 20 min drive to school from our house.

Debi glad you're keeping food down now. Want to come clean the girls' fish tank? Ugh I really dislke cleaning the fish tank.

Sharmiece happy birthday to Cam, glad he's feeling better.

Toni That is aweful about your paypal account. Hope you get it all straightened out.

Tina hope you didn't have too big of a pile on your desk.

Michelle I'd be jealous of your brother too, it will be a huge shock to go back after a year. Just the thought of finally finding a job after not working for 2 1/2yrs sometimes depresses me. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually go back.

Theresa I can imagine how nice it was to have the office all to yourself yesterday. You probably got a ton of stuff done even with having to answer the phone.

Well I better get off here. I really need to put together the volunteer list for Jordyne's class, not sure why I decided to sign up for room mom this year. Guess I figured I didn't have enough to do. And I still need to find a book to do my book report on for class. I'm not much for reading non-fiction and as much as I love computers reading about them tends to put me to sleep.

Have a happy scrappy day everyone!

Evening all. Taking tomorrow off work to go to Emma's funeral so had to stay late today to get stuff caught up. Doc was really annoyed at the techs today (same old stuff, not doing what they're supposed to) and I didn't want to leave anything that might create a problem. No patient's tomorrow but they are going to do computer training that I really need to have but feel I need to be at the funeral more. The county is really supporting the family. They hope to line the city streets with people and send up pink and purple balloons as the casket goes by. Emma would be so excited!

Keep her family in your prayers tomorrow. They are so strong it is just amazing but they'll need lots of strength to get through tomorrow.

VALERIE I don't really mind cleaning the tank, it's not that bad of a job especially since I bought one of those contraptions you start a suction on to drain 1/2 the water out before adding more water. I always make a mess however. But I can see the fish again. I'm sure they appreciate having cleaner water too.

THERESA I will be thinking of pink/purple balloons for Emma. I'm sure you can catch up on the computer training later. Sometimes real life gets in the way, and I'd make this event a priority as well.

TONI thanks for being so diligent to praise BOTH pages. Not sure how I ended up with 2 but I'll try to correct the dual-posting.

I helped nearly 1000 middle schoolers get photos today. It was fast and furious all day for 6.25 hours with 4 photographers. Geesh I barely had time to look up to see who was passing through my desk to get their check-in. All the kids were very polite though, nice to see.

Now I'm off to our school's friends and family of music program meeting to exchange clothing for concert wear. Hope I can find something that fits my boys, but I have quite a bit to donate. Need to go so I don't miss it.

Then I need to go get the boys from their dad's.

Have a great night.

Everyone needs to be well because we are gonna be going out of town soon and I don;t like traveling with sick family. I have alot planned and I hate for them to miss out. Anyways. Have a good week.

Good morning. Bobby had to be at school at 5:45am this morning- the news channel is coming to film the leadership class for anti-bully day. woke up from a sound sleep at 5am to get him there. wish it had been yesterday when I was up at 4:30am wide awake!

Could use some prayers and positive thoughts for Gary and our family. His position is being eliminated at work. Ironic since the head of GE is the head of the white house job creation task force. Really not prepared for this layoff, but trying to surrender it into God's hands every day as He can do amazing things.

Theresa- saying prayers for Emma's family and friends and your entire community today.

Debi- any luck in getting new concert clothes from the swap? I love the idea of swapping those. I volunteered at the health fair yesterday at the elementary school- fun to see all the kids.

Michelle- well then happy 4th quarter!

Sharmiece & Toni- hope everyone is feeling better real soon at home.

OK, I should do something productive during this extra hour before the little ones are up. Have a great day.

TAMMY can you give me some resources for Anti-bullying and working with teen-agers. Our school gives it a lot of lip service but unfortuately I'm still seeing bullying going on (same experience in Elementary School), especially the emotional abuse through verbal attacks. It makes me so sad when kids are cruel to others. And the kids doing the bullying don't seem to understand that the behavior they are displaying IS bullying...they see it as "normal","kidding around" or "non-consequential" and don't get that some kids (usually the ones being victimized) don't have the same ability to shrug off ill-placed remarks, or are insecure or sensitive that they take these verbal exchanges personally and seriously. I think compassion for diversity is one of the hardest things to teach at this age.

So sorry to hear about Gary losing his job. NO one is prepared for that, are we? I know I wasn't, and I've still not recovered. Best wishes to him and your family and hope he finds new employment soon.

I got a pair of black pants but since my guys are older (8th graders) and bigger, most of the clothes (and there was a lot) were too small. I donated 4 pairs of pants, a pair of dress shoes and 2 tuxedo shirts. I probably have other items too if I look. Nice that we can minimize costs as these items add up especially if you have to buy new ones every year due to the kids refusing to stop growing. Shoes alone, are my nemesis. I think we should invent a stretchable shoe...LOL

SHARMIECE sending healthy vibes your way...no, traveling while sick is not fun...ever.

Today is Wednesday. I'm going into volunteer for a few hours (probably ~4 hrs) then I need to pick one area of the house and focus on eliminating the clutter that is threatening to take over the house. it seems to have a life of its own and I swear it's propagating when I'm not looking. I did clean the kitchen this morning. The livnign room is half done so shouldn't take that long to finish, and then it's hitting the pile of papers that are threatening to collapse my dining room table. I need a secretary just to keep my paper pile filed...and I used to be so organized. What happened?

Not much planned today. Boys have a SS paper to start tonight and a kanji test to study for tomorrow. Shouldn't be too stressful of a night, I hope.

Have a great day.

So proud of my community. The streets were lined with thousands of people, not exaggerating at all. Some had signs, some released balloons as the hearse passed by and some were holding hands and praying. Such a blessing to me and I can only imagine the family felt it so much more. The service was nice. They had a video tribute with photos from when she was teeny tiny til last week and they had audio taped her on several occasions and they played clips from it at the beginning of the service, so sweet to hear her little happy voice. Not sure if you will be able to see this video or not but it shows the balloons being sent in just one area.

Glad I stayed home and went today.

Sending prayers to the ones that have commented they've got sick ones at home and also for the job situation for Gary. Sure hope they change their mind or give him another option.

Best get off here, tried to find a pink shirt to wear to the funeral today with my black pants and I know I have it somewhere but I tore my closet apart and never did find it. Ended up in a purple button up shirt with a pink t-shirt under it. Pink and purple were Emma's favorite colors. Knowing I needed to put the summer stuff away anyway I just pulled stuff out and tossed it on the bed while I was hunting. So now I have a bed full of clothing to sort through. Guess that's one way to get it done.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!! [/b

I've had a change of heart, and I will stay as organizer of the group for 1 more year. I don't want to miss out on all of the great things that are going to be happening. So, things will not change there. I will also still be posting with Tina on the thread also.

Here is what I've been thinking about: No Hostesses, instead of all o the choices for pages. No 4 pages a month. Each month, either Tina or myself will post a technique challenge, and a garden girl challenge. you don't have to do both, but do at least one of the challenges.

Okay, so that leaves us to one more thing left to do and that is to choose a new name.

So, peamail me with your comments.
Make sure you add a name that you would would like to see for the groups. Then, we will vote on a New pea group name. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks, Linda

I agree with Theresa. And, honestly, my scrapping style is different from most others on this thread, so I'm not always inspired by each and every challenge. What about if we have the choice of ALL Two Peas challenges each month (which ends up being 4 weekly challenges, 4 Finally Friday challenges, 4 Memory Keeping Monday challenges, etc.)? That gives us more challenges to choose from.

I nominate/vote for Chatty Scrappers or Sweet Peas for the group name.
