Okay, I hereby declare that I am never taking the other kids with when one needs to go! I felt like a terrible mom as each one took a turn to sit and let the dentist look at their teeth, to show Kyle it is okay. Turns out they ALL need fillings and Ruan had a tooth extracted right there! Kyle needs to go to theatre next Friday as he has 6 fillings and he is only 4, so it isn't possible to do it in the rooms.
Heinrich will be giving me the 'Mother of the Year" award tonight - very tongue in cheek. How is it we try our best but something like this happens and you wonder if you really are a good mother? I have them brush their teeth every day, so it's not like they don't know what toothpaste is... I blame it on the water, lol. Can't all be my fault... Genetics obviously doesn't play a role as DH and my teeth are fine.
My nerves are shot now. Time for a glass of wine and bit of scrapping. No homework tonight, thank goodness.
Tonya - good to see you again! |

Good morning!
I have a doctors appointment this afternoon with a new primary care physician. Hoping that goes well. I've pretty much determined that the root cause of my problems right now is my teeth. I found a dentist/oral surgeon that I think I like, but I'm having trouble getting ahold of them & setting up an appointment. So I'll be working on that today. Hopefully, in the meantime, this new primary care doc will prescribe me some antibiotics to fight the infection - one big problem is that one of the medications I take (and need) lowers your body's ability to fight infections Crazy, right?
Anyway!
Melanie- That is sad that your dad has to sell all his cattle. The weather changes sure are affecting a lot more than I think people realize... Hope the Etsy sales pick up! I've figured out that running an Etsy shop is a lot more work than I realized it would be!
Debi- Take it easy!
Lori- Look at all the scrapping you've done! That's awesome. So this pumpkin muffin recipe you have sounds good - and healthy! I've heard that chia seeds are really good for you. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find them where I live - people here like UNhealthy food
Theresa- Sounds like a good shopping trip you guys had! Bummer about your knee. Hope it's better soon! I can't imagine having a job like yours and having to deal with a bad knee.
Toni- Ooo thanks for all the inside scoop at J's! I was disappointed when I first found out that you couldn't use a coupon on magazines because they are already marked 10% off all the time. I try to get Scrapbook Trends on occasion at HL, but they haven't had them out the last few months. Anyway, hey - do you know when J's is expected to get the exclusive Basic Grey "Fact and Fiction"?! oh, how did the car search go?
Tonya- Good to see you scrapping and posting, too!
Michelle- Yikes, the dentist thing is such a bummer! Looks like you're dealing with the same thing I will be dealing with For me, I'm pretty sure it is genes. Bad teeth run in my family, plus my brothers and I inherited the small jawline where the teeth are crunched in with no extra space. That is one reason I am having problems - one of my wisdom teeth grew in sideways and chipped 2 of the teeth next to it! Hope everything goes well with the kids' dental procedures!
Tammy- Poor Becca It's even worse when you don't know what is causing the problem. Hope you get some answers today. When does insurance lapse? I'm still thinking positive thoughts for Gary's job situation - and apparently my mom is, too, because she asked about it yesterday!
okay, off to do some calls to the dentist! |

Just a quick check-in. I find that I can only be on this site for 10 min. and then the headaches begin. I hate to give it up, but I read a few GS posts and I'm through for the day.
Hugs to all the sickies! Sorry I haven't praised or read all the posts. I'll try later tonight or tomorrow.

oh, no, I didn't realize you couldn't pull up another page and post while reading this one...that stinks...not that I did that, but I would pull up another page especially when I was posting a page I did.
That stinks.
You can to. Go to the bottom of the page. RIGHT CLICK on POST REPLY (not the arrow that says reply) select open in another window).. ta da! If you have Windows 7 you can pin the side by side (click on one, then click the windows button and the Left arrow, then click on the other, click the windows button and the right arrow. That way you can read and post without missing a beat.
MICHELLE hope the dentist appointment went well. My boys have always done well at the dentist. Doesn't hurt that they give them laughing gas to calm them before numbing them. Hope all it is is a filling and not a root canal. Went through 2 emergency root canals with Owen in 1st grade. Teeth seem to be our weakness here. After reading your next post, sounds like it may be your medical nemesis too. I have twins, one has strong teeth the other we do everything the dentist's ask to the tee and still we have problems...oy. Hugs
MONICA I'm right there with you. I take an immune suppressant to counteract my rheumatoid arthritis, but it makes me vulnerable to stuff like the flu which I've now had well over a week and makes it really hard to fight off illness once I get it. I had pneumonia 3 months a few years ago. And the RA side effects which include high level of overall inflamation also includes acute dryness (mouth,eyes,skin...) which has resulted in lots of dental issues for me as well that I don't have coverage to take care of and which are now also impacting my health. vicious circle. I feel for you and really hope this new physician and oral surgeon work out for you. Hugs to you too.
So what is it with teeth? Jack-o-lantern month...so missing teeth? hmmm
I've been taking it easy but life doesn't stop, just because I do. I now have an empty refrigerator, a non-working car, an overdrawn bank account, and I can't stand up more than 20 minutes...some days I just want to cry. But I'm taking a big breath and doing things in 10 to 15 minute pops. Finished the laundry yesterday. Almost got the dishes done. Sad part is I can't concentrate very long to do anything taxing, so lots of things that need attending is just too hard for me to deal with right now and that's only going to make it worse later. it sucks to be single sometimes. At least I was able to get a neighbor to take the boys to school today so they didn't need to go in the rain.
TAMMY keep pushing those doctors especially since you are up against a wall to lose coverage due to Gary's unexpected loss of job. Boy when it hits it hits. I know...not having med insurance is the pits. But if you aren't bringing in income, you should check out state insurance for the kids. They may qualify for it and that would take a lot off your worry plate, although you might have to switch doctors. good to research the options. Have they checked her gallblatter?
As for the white on the forums, I still don't like it along with the gray text, but if I zoom the page 3x-4x bigger, I wipe out the sides of white and the text is big enough to read so not as stressful on my eyes that way. Guess since the power that be thinks it's cool, doesn't matter that lots of us are having trouble with it, so I have to manage the best I can and post less frequently if that becomes a problem.
NYLENE don't give up yet, try zooming up your page (Ctrl+) a few notches to see if it makes it easier to read. Ctrl- zooms down, Ctrl0 returns to original size. I think with their new color scheme and lighter font color and smaller font size they are difficult for us with older eyes.
I'm bushed again. Stomach is flipping. All I've had today is V8 juice but I'm not sure it approves. SO off for a short nap before trying to do something else.

This is going to be long because I haven't posted in a while.
See what happens when I come in here and stir the pot. It appears that everyone starts crawling back to the thread, and it seems like a real thread again. So there. lol
Okay, the reason that I changed my mind was for personal reasons which I choose not to share, but it doesn't matter. I was thinking about getting married again, but freaked and changed my mind because I didn't like the way that this one dealt with his finances. Plus the fact that he wouldn't sign a pre-nup. So, I told him to march, don't walk straight out of my life. Wanda didn't know this. Only my attorney did.
I'm now seeing 2 different guys from right around this area. They are both excellent men. Both are named Alex and both are white guys. That must have been the choice boy's name during the 50's. No replys please.
Tammy - My heart bleeds that my favorite little girl is sick. I got to thinking, and it sort of sounds like Gluten allergies. They can have a an effect on the body long after they are ingested. I feel for you too because no sleep is not good either.
Theresa - Sorry about your knee. I know exactly how it feels, and it's not fun. Hope you get better soon.
Debi - Hope you get better soon. It sounds like that rotten flu bug that's been going around. Wanda has the same thing. She's miserable, although she doesn't do sick well, but she's been in bed for 3 days straight.
MonicaB. - Hope you get to feeling better.
Michelle - OUCH!!! That's a lot of cavities. I hope your country has socialized medicine because if you don't, that going to cost a bundle.
Toni - Hope the poochie gets well very soon. Hope the guys found another car. Take your dh out to lunch or something, so he can get his bi, boy panties out of their wad. lol
Lori - Love you new photo. It's so good to see you back..Congrats on the fund raiser.
Melanie - While I still have the throne, I hereby dub you the Heritage Queen...lol
Tonya - Love you new avatar. That short hair looks sooooooo good on you.
Praisemark!!

LORI I wish cheese had been the answer to our dental issues as Owen who has the most trouble is a cheese hog. we eat very little bread as neither like sandwiches probably because I didn't make them much as I don't eat wheat.
TAMMY, LINDA might be on to something with the GLUTEN allergy or sensitivity or maybe MILK. It definitely can cause severe stomach cramping, gas and often diarrhea if left unchecked. Worth asking. Not the easiest to go gluten free but much easier now with all the new products available. there are decent substitutes for pasta and breads and bakery goods now. Might be worth a try to see if it has an impact. They can do a colon (THERESA not Colin) test to check for gluten issues. Just need a doctor who will listen as some still hold on to the belief it's a made up disease.
LINDA enjoy the time with the men in your life. Sorry to hear WANDA is ill too. Send her our hugs.
I wonder what it would take for the web designers to listen to the frustrations of it's users on the bright white? I will hate to see us lose our message board friends or them income because people don't want to squint at their screen to be here.
I still miss the bucket and peas logo in the title too.
I was cold (it was 59 in here) so I bumped the heat to 65, now I'm roasting, THIS is not normal, for me,

PRAISE MARK
We had a GREAT weekend, despite the fact that Cal lost to Stanfurd in a very bad game of football. Our tailgate party was a big success and its usual level of fun. And my girls were so cute!! Julia was...well, I've been bragging all day about it so if you want to 'hear' it, go to my Facebook. You'll get more than you ever hoped to see of my little cheerleader.
Here's my FB: http://www.facebook.com/bluna?ref=tn_tnmn
If you don't want to see that...I'll be scrapping it all very soon.
LORI - WOW, that is some impressive fund raising. I love hearing that people come together to accomplish something like that. It's inspiring!
DEBI - I hope you are feeling better! You sounded so awful I wanted to bring you a bowl of soup or something. Isn't your mom near? You should have asked her to bring you some cold OJ! Can I give $.02 about your ex in-laws. If the boys see you *not* being manipulated by them, then *they* won't be manipulated by them (or, most likely, anybody) in their future. So you should *not* feel guilty for refusing to let yourself be manipulated. You should recognize that you are being a good parent! Geeeeze people can make ya crazy, can't they?!
MELANIE -- yay for you, getting some of you work up here. It *is* nice to see you scrapping!
THERESA -- OUCH! So sorry about your fall. Zombie Dance? Did I miss something? Did you mean walk? I'm sure glad you did the walk! You looked AMAZING. What fun! Sorry about the tub, though.
MONICA -- how was your Dr. appt??
TAMMY -- I sure hope Rebecca is feeling better today?! What a scary thing...for both of you. I hope they can get it figured out before you don't have insurance. You're all in my thoughts...
MICHELLE -- GEEEEEZE, sounds like a nightmare trip to the dentist! Poor boys. And you!
LINDA - I was ROFL about your post. I know you don't want replies, I just wanted you to know that your calm, cool attitude towards all of that made me LOL.
OK, I really need to get these girls bathed and into bed. |

Is it my imagination or have they added more gray to the thread posts? Didn't seem as stark as before.
I'm starting to feel better bit by bit. Was able to make dinner (a real dinner for the boys) and start some chicken soup for me...well I cooked the chicken but need to de-bone it still. Cleaned the kitchen including the refrigerator which had way too many left overs left over too long that I didn't want the boys to accidentally eat. But have to admit, dumping old food wasn't easy on a queasy stomach. But I got it done. Felt really hard while I was in process but as the night passed I actually started feeling a bit better. Still coughing some, and a clogged up nose, but was able to eat a small dinner (~1/4 cup rice with a little juice of the stirfry (Thai) on it and a glass of strawberry milk my son so kindly made me). But hey that's way more than I've been able to keep down, so all is good. Tonight's another night of sleep and tomorrow's another day.
Barbara you have a budding cheerleader there. How cute. I cheered in jr high 1 yr and 2 yrs in high school. Sure wish we were having your weather. I think my Mom had frost on her lawn this morning.
As for mom bringing me chicken soup; she makes great chicken soup however she doesn't drive and lives nearly an hour away. SO virtual soup over the phone for me. Thanks for the nice thought though. I never know who to reach out to when I'm sick unless I need something for the boys, then I'll call one of their friends. I don't have any close friends or family near by. And well ex, just isn't an option.
My son Noah is probably my best help (when he isn't fighting with his brother) as he'll retrieve things for me like juice if I ask for it. My other son is rather oblivious to the pain or emotions of others...even if I spell it out point blank for him.
Well I'm wondering if my show is on tonight. Supposed to start in a few minutes but with the debates and after debates discussions etc, who knows?
I can always read now and watch it online tomorrow.
Have a good one

Good morning, Girls!
Monica - hope you got an appointment sorted. Teeth seem to be able to affect our whole body. There has been some research that says our life-expectancy has increased proportionally to the improvement in dental care. Makes sense, since chronic inflamation can cause all sorts of problems. Add to that your other health issues and you have a recipe for disaster. We don't have socialized healthcare here (yet - they want to start it next year) but we do have medical insurance that will cover the theatre costs. They don't cover dental costs on our option, so it is going to be expensive. The quote yesterday for Kyle's procedure was about $500 just for the dentist... I'll be paying it off, that's for sure.
Linda - no wonder we haven't seen you around... how is the house-hunting going?
Debi - I wish I could come help out. I would drive (hmm, would have to bring my car with, lol), shop and just generally look after you. It is horrible to be single when you are ill. Thank goodness the boys aren't tiny anymore and can fend for themselves a bit. At least they won't starve...
Lori - good for you trying to eat better. It does take a bit more planning but is so worth it.
Theresa - hope the knee is holding up.
Tammy - have they found out anything with Becca yet? Poor baby! It doesn't make it easier that you have the deadline on insurance hanging over you.
Nylene - I'm sorry to hear the changes here are making it so difficult for you. I find myself squinting at the screen too, but no headaches. I can only imagine what it's like for others. Love Debi's description 'like reading through vellum'. Please try to pop in as often as you can handle it. This whole refusal to change something that is obviously bothering so many has me wondering if they are subtly trying to force a slowdown on the forums? Maybe they want to focus more on the retail side of the site. Am I making sense? Then I wonder, if that is their plan, why have they removed so much of their advertising (banners, etc)? I just don't get their vision. And it doesn't seem there will be an explination forthcoming, other that to state it's a more modern look.
Kyle has an abcess in the tooth he was complaining about and this morning his cheek is all swollen. Asked if he wanted to stay home but NO, he wanted to go. Glad he's not feeling too bad. Ruan is a bit more ore after the pulling of the tooth yesterday, but was only worried whether the toothmouse had remembered to bring him money! They know it's a story, but play along because they get spending money out of it,lol. Both boys were very brave.
Not much going on here this morning. Just need to make a run to the post office and bank, but other than that, I'm relaxing till work this afternoon.
Have a great Tuesday and hope everyone feels better.

morning girls -
Linda - You're crazy, girl I really would not even bother, I kid you not, LOL. Good luck though.
Michelle - It very well could be the water for the kids' teeth. That's what one of my dentists told me when I was younger. I had only two cavities up until the age of 20 and then when I moved to California, within a matter of two years I had 14 cavities and a root canal in the mix. He thought it might have been the difference in the water. They're trying to do away with putting Flouride in the water here (there has been a big fuss about it). That's all we need with half the people not being able to afford any kind of insurance much less dental insurance...geesch, these people in office are losing their minds, I'm telling ya.
Tammy - I am so sorry about Becca. What a terrible thing to be going through. Larry suffered all his life with stomach problems and they never determined what it was. His parents thought he was - in easy terms - nuts! He still deals with stomach issues; gets sick very easiy and cannot handle certain smells, etc. He missed a lot of school when he was young because of it, too. Hugs, girl.
Monica B - Haven't seen the new BG there yet. We had a customer come in and ask for it. Is it really J's exclusive because they said that for the last set and yet you could buy it at some scrappy stores. As soon as we get it in though I'll let you know. I imagine places like Calaifornia will get it first though. It's too bad J's carries a lot of the same "papers"...I really get tired of looking at some of it, LOL.
Nylene - hugs, girl.
Well, I best be going...we have testing today - yep, another wonderful state test...it's ridiculous. I've got to get Kevin to take me early again...that's going to go over real well.
Larry is working on the car issue. He's trying to get rid of our two cars so we can have a little more to put down on another one. He hasn't driven the one he went to look at the other day (they weren't open yet - it was Sunday, and I told him they wouldn't be open yet, for pete's sake we live in the Bible Belt). He spoke to them on the phone though, so hopefully they'll work with us. We've bought from them before.
Anyway, have a super day, girls. |

Sorry I didn't come back and post yesterday- our carpets are being cleaned today and I was moving furniture and junk.
Rebecca seems to be on the mend, no vomiting in the past 24 hours. The official diagnosis for now is cyclic vomiting syndrome . This could change once we get into neurology, but the symptoms are her to a T. Not a lot is know about it unfortunately. Her doctor is confident that no allergy/gluten intolerance is going on here- we did discuss it. Thanks to all you and your google MD license. I use mine frequently too.
Linda- Woah, baby. That's my only reply. LOL.
Barbara- Loved the video of Julia. Awesome!!
Michelle- do not beat yourself up or take that comment from your DH seriously. You are an amazing mother. Some things just are out of your control. Maybe you can pass on teeth brushing to his responsibility.
OK, need to run, moving late for school as I was looking for Halloween games for Joey's class.

Good morning!
I decided I'm going to have a "me" day today & gonna go shopping. There are quite a few stores having good sales/coupons, and I really need some fall clothes. But I also have to go grocery shopping, which is no fun! And need to find an oral surgeon!
oh! My doctor's appt - It went pretty well. I had a hard time reading him since it was my first appt. But I figured out by the end that he is like a Big Bang Theory nerd - super smart, dry sense of humor, hard to read! He seemed really interested in my medical history & wanting to work closely with my endocrinologist, which is great! He wouldn't prescribe me an antibiotic in the meantime, but felt I needed to find an oral surgeon ASAP and get to the root of the problem - removing the teeth.
Debi- Ah, so you know exactly what I mean with the whole immune system thing! Winter is almost a nightmare for me because of all the illness floating around. Not only does my body catch things very easily, like you said it takes it FOREVER to fight & get rid of the bugs. And it has a more drastic effect on my body - a simple cold is nothing to most people, but it really brings me down hard.
Lori- hmm, I am going to have to look at some of my local stores for the chia & hemp seeds, because a few have "health market" sections. I didn't know they had protein in them - I definitely need to boost my protein as well!
Barbara- It sounds like you had a fun weekend! Bummer about Cal losing, though.
Michelle- I couldn't agree more about teeth being an important part of our health! Which is why I don't get why it's not included in normal health insurance. (I have Medicare because I'm on Social Security disability, but it is pretty sad how little it covers sometimes. It covers NO dental whatsoever) My oral surgery is going to cost upwards of $2000 because of how many teeth I need out & the anesthesia. I'll probably need to get a payment plan, too, but I'm hoping my dad or grandparents will step up and help.
Toni- You know, I'm thinking those Basic Grey lines AREN'T really exclusive to J's. Or maybe this just start out at J's exclusively, but end up making it into the rest of the marketplace. I know with Fact or Fiction, Studio Calico has a lot of the products in their November kits But, yes, still let me know when you see it! I know what you mean about seeing the same old papers there!
Tammy- Well, I'm glad they at least figured out a diagnosis for Miss Becca. What is the treatment? |

TAMMY I wish I could go on disability but because I haven't worked enough in the last 10 years, I don't qualify and now that my illness makes it nearly impossible to work, I'm in a no-win situation. So despite the fact I have a good head, my body betrays me. Stay healthy. I hear you on no dental coverage..,.makes no sense to me either, and even with, dental costs are exuberant. Will you be doing taxes again this year? Can you make any money doing that seasonally? would it make sense for me to get trained?
MICHELLE please be careful with that abscessed tooth, it can get serious quickly. When is your dental theatre (not sure what that means in stateside lingo) appointment? I'm so over teeth. Sometimes I wish I could afford to have all mine pulled and implants put in...
Still woozy this morning. Surprised really as I was feeling quite a bit better last evening. But 1/2 the day has passed and I'm still not too perky. But I need to get up and see if I can get my car worked on as the kids go to their dad's today and I'm supposed to retrieve them.
Besides we really need groceries although the idea of wandering around a grocery store just makes me want to crawl back into bed.
Thanks Michelle for you kind thoughts. I'd love to have you come and take care of me. We really need to work on the StarTrek transporter thing so we can be with our virtual friends within seconds. wouldn't that make an interesting world?
Shout out to WANDA, hoping you are recovering.
LINDA you have more guts than me, to even consider another mate. But I hope you find someone who makes you happy.
TAMMY that doesn't sound encouraging with REBECCA...sounds like symptoms without a cause...but I'm well aware of MIGRAINES, dealt with them since I was a kid and now my son does too, so I hope it doesn't progress to that. In Owen's case if he gets a migraine and doesn't treat it quickly, it progresses to the vomiting. Poor kid, How old is Rebecca? Anything she can take to ease the vomiting attacks? Like something they give pg women who's morning sickness keeps them vomiting constantly? Nice if they could find a cause to treat rather than just the symptoms...HUGS
Ok I need to get up and do something, even if it's only for 30 minutes.

Evening all. Another busy day, think it's par for the course now through the end of the year at least.
Tammy, sure hope Becca's stomach settles down. My sister had high fevers with seizures when she was about Becca's age and we never did figure out what caused them. She's fine now, well crazy as the rest of the family but fine health wise.
Monica, get your teeth fixed if it means taking out a loan!
Debi, glad you're feeling better. As for the disability, if it didn't get approved the first time, apply again. My Mom had to try several times before it was approved and then she got back pay.
Michelle, tell DH that teeth brushing is his responsibility now. I'm "sure" he'll do a much better job with the kids, ROFL!
My friend Paula's Mom died and the visitation is tomorrow night with funeral Thursday. If you could keep her and especially her Dad in your prayers I'd appreciate it. Her Mom had Alzheimer's and they tried to keep her at home but she got very difficult a month ago and they had to put her in the nursing home. They're both feeling guilty even though rationally they know they did the best they could and she would have died no matter where she was.
Knee is fine, no twinges at all so thinking the Plica thing must be the correct diagnosis. Another Doc is the best moment. Speaking of Doc is the best, I got a heartfelt apology from my manager today. He went into great detail to tell me that I had been treated unfairly and that he has lost sleep over it. He also said that he and his manager have had several discussions about me and that they are going to do everything in their power to keep me from leaving. He said that Doc chewed Baby Doc out over me too. Said that Baby Doc was making me the scapegoat in a conversation that he, Baby Doc and Doc were having about the problems in the office and Doc cussed at him, chewed him out and told him that he would not hear anything bad about me and that if they screwed up and I left they'd all be sorry. My manager said Doc's face got red and he got on the edge of his seat and yelled at Baby Doc. Said he didn't think I'd have any more problems with Baby Doc. Nice to know someone cares.
Did they tone down the white on the board or am I imagining it? It doesn't seem as bright. Still causing glare on the eyes and I've cleaned my glasses twice just typing this but it does seem less bright.
Can't remember anything else. Have a great night all.

Good evening, all...
I'm just checking in on all of you. Not an exciting day for us, which makes this momma VERY happy. Our regular day now includes making 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 3 dinners...as both of my girls eat their own things and neither eat what grown ups eat. However, the days also include one 4 1/2 year old who says things like "Mommy, I made this for you because you're the best mommy" and an 11 month old who crawls all over the house saying "momma, momma, momma, momma" and making kissing sounds. !!!!
For those of you dealing with auto issues, I had kept my silence on the issue because we'd had a relatively easy time fixing our problems. My car turned out to such a lemon that we had to sell it back to the dealer for HALF of its Kelly Blue Book value (it was an 8 year old BMW, that is RIDICULOUS). So many things went wrong with it and we took *perfect* care of it. But we got a little cash and then we bought a mini van. I was feeling pretty good about the whole thing. But today the finance guy a Toyota called Stuart to say that the loan did not go through (it's been THREE WEEKS!)!!! The really stupid part of this is that we were PRE approved at our credit union and they supposedly have a relationship with this dealer...so we should have had to do nothing. But the Toyota guy tried to get his own deal (I assume he gets more $ in his pocket that way) and it didn't work. No explanation as to why (Stuart has close to perfect credit). But it ended up being a tedious process that Stuart had to deal with over the phone. For about an hour I was afraid I had to bring my new car back to the dealer!!! And the dread in my gut...with the two girls...I thought of you who are dealing with this...I am so sorry. I can't imagine the stress.
THERESA -- hope you're doing OK. Knee is pain-free? no more bumps/bruises? Bath tub has recovered?
DEBI -- glad your'e on the mend. I'm sorry things are so overwhelming at the moment.
MICHELLE -- I missed the part where you were held responsible for people's teeth?! I agree with whomever said have your DH handle that part of boy's routine! GEEEESH!
OK, I have to jump off because dinner is about ready for the grown ups. Thinking of all of you. But have to SEW tonight!!

I got some more scrapping done! I took Monica's challenge to heart and used a wood chevron strip in my layout.I was able to fill a few challenge tick boxes with other challenges too. I really enjoyed doing this page even though it was a little upsetting because of the memories.

DIANA keeping Daniel in our thoughts as he recovers from surgery. Hope they caught it before it burst.
BARBARA it's amazing how many life's problem dim in the light of a child's voicing love for their mama. Even when I'm over stressed like now, if one of my sons brings me a glass a juice or makes me strawberry milk or comes in to give me a hug good-night, I feel better. Motherhood may be the hardest job in the world, but it's worth it.
I managed to get my car fixed today. I had to have it towed (but fortunately my insurance covered that), then replaced the battery (mine was DOA and not revivable)with an online today only deal of $24 off, didn't have to replace the alternator (saved $510) but did have to fix a broken tie bar that the tow truck operator spotted when lifting the car. it was completely broken and missing. Added an oil change (got another $9 off with an online coupon) and then because it took longer than they expected they instead of charging me more for labor, deducted another $25 as an inconvenience charge...so all in all despite the fact I felt horrible and sat in the waiting room with the air conditioning going full blast (it's broken) when it's only mid 50s outside, I ended up spending just slightly over $200 when it could have easily been over $700. And now I have a car and a chronic cough.
Picked up a few necessity groceries so now the boys won't starve quite so fast.
And since their dad was 1 hr late picking up the boys, he just took them out to dinner and brought them home instead of taking them to his house and making me come get them...Yay!
So a potentially really bad day was just a little bad.
Kids are home, Owen has a migraine, and Noah is working on homework.
I've had a cup of tea and am going to try some yogurt. I am ready for bed even though it hasn't hit 9 p.m. BOy I'm sure not living up to my late night owl status these days.
Tomorrow is "dress alike day" wonder if the boys will.
Night everyone

Morning girls,
(Please tell me if that is condescending?? I don't mean it that way, but some people don't like to be called a 'girl.' Least of all my DH. )
I am up, showered, ready for this day. This crazy day. We are touring another kindergarten today. (Did I tell you that we're considering putting J in a private school?) We can't take CJ with us for this tour, so we have to drop her & pick her up. We are going to the pumpkin patch later. With both girls. And CJ has her 1-year portraits this afternoon. I don't really like days that are this busy but I am not complaining. I have free child care, we are in a position to consider private schools, and daddy gets to join us at the pumpkin patch on a Wed afternoon. Any of my complaints are FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS, ya know??
DEBI - I am soooo glad to hear your car situation turned out so well. Sorry about that cough though. Are you at all interested in naturopathic solutions to a cough? I can tell you about those in a PeaMail if you are. I once had a cough for 5 months--3 rounds of antibiotics, bed rest for 5 days at one point...we (western medicine and me) tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked. I just peaMail you...
Happy Hump Day everyone.

Thanks BARBARA I'll check my PeaMail. Hope it isn't too full to get your message. I do need to clean it out, and I see there is no messages there yet anyway.
Sounds like a busy, but a good busy day. have lots of fun. And don't forget the camera for the pumpkin patch.
I have notoriously weak lungs...I've spent years where every cold, flu turns into bronchitis, pleurisy, or pneumonia. I took the pneumonia vaccine back in 2008 after my last 3 month bout with pneumonia, and haven't had a case of any of the above since. But this year might be different...the cough is increasing and seems to be getting deeper in the chest. So any at home remedies I'll try.
I'm also going to pick up some more allergy meds (been out for a couple months--haven't needed them so much with a dry summer but now that the rain is back and so is the molds...) to see if that helps with the congestion and coughing.
Still feel light-headed, but that may be due to not eating much...living in 1/2 meal a day may not be enough to replenish a sense of health. So trying to up the calorie intake even though my stomach is saying "no-no."
I got the rest of my supplies to make that pot of chicken soup yesterday, so that will be helpful. Nothing more comforting than good old home-made chicken soup, even if I have to be the one to make it.
So now that I have a car, I need to run to the bank as I'm sadly overdrawn and run to the pharmacy and run up to my mom's if I can be up that long, as she's helping me with my property taxes this month (due in a couple days). Thank God for my Mom.
Wow there is quite a clatter outside, a flock of crow are attacking some other bird it sounds like and they've all alighted on my big walnut tree outside to discuss it...geesh!.
so off to a hot shower to clear my sinuses, then to run errands and be back in time to pick up the boys from school.
have a great day!
And yes, the white doesn't seem as bright. Anyone else feeling that?
Although I still have my page zoomed in to be able to read the gray text and not have the white edges...

Hello Sweet Peas!
I'm catching up on what's going on around here. We had a super busy weekend and so far my week has been happening in warp speed. I had my job interview yesterday, so I'd spent some time getting ready for that. It went well, I guess I'll find out next week if I'm one of the final 2 candidates. There's supposed to be one more round of interviews...although I can't imagine what else they would ask me, seems like they asked everything yesterday.
Tammy - I'm so glad that Becca is getting better. I would be freaked out if one of mine were that sick. I hope she continues to improve and that Gary finds something soon.
Lori - Love the new avatar, it's sooo pretty.
Linda - I'm with Toni on the man issue.
Theresa - So sorry about Paula's Mom. One of my best friends is in the process of losing her Mom too, it's really sad. She's been saying that she's visiting with people from her life who have died, my friend doesn't know what to make of it.
Diana - I hope Daniel's surgery goes well! Hugs to you. I hope that he recovers quickly.
Debi - I hope that you get to feeling well soon. I'm really glad that you were able to get your car fixed and that it wasn't crazy expensive.
Nylene - I agree with you, this site is taking some getting used to. I followed Debi's directions and making the screen bigger does help.
Well, I need to run. Hope you all are having a nice evening.
Tina

Hello ladies!
I scrapped another page today. I'm hoping to be able to do another one tomorrow too. I'm really enjoying being able to scrap again.
Bawk!
I hope that everyone is starting to feel better. I sure have missed you all!
My goal is to start using my Silhouette more and more with my scrapping. I've been taking Kerri's classes at Jessica Sprague, and I've actually started to dream up ideas.

Good morning!
Debi - glad to hear the car wasn't such a money drain after all. $500 saved is a LOT. I'm glad to hear you are slowly feling better, though you really need to eat. Starving isn't going to help your immune system recover. Okay, Mommy mode will be quiet now, lol. As for the theatre - Kyle need his teeth fixed under general anaesthesia as he is too small for them to do all the work he needs done in the dentist's rooms. So we are going to a local day-hospital next Friday (the 2nd) for that to be done. So he is going to an operating theatre... sorry, I never know when the language barrier will be a problem; I always thought we all spoke English
Tammy - I've never heard of cyclic vomiting syndrome - what is the prognosis? Can it be managed/ treated? Poor baby. What a thing to have to deal with. And I don't take DH's comments to heart, no need to worry. He can sound very sarcastic when he is actually trying to be funny. Luckily I love the man to bits and have known him for 20 years, so I'm used to his communication style. Now my own guilt is another matter entirely...
Monica - Whoa! That sounds like a small fortune! Glad the app with the new doc was productive and he is willing to work as a team, that always helps.
Theresa - Sorry about your friend Paula's mom. It is so hard. Just be there if she wants to talk/cry. Nothing much else one can do. Time is the only thing that really helps.
Sounds as if there was some drama in the office! Hope it makes a difference to the working relationships even if it can't change the outcome of the suspension.
Barbara- I hear you on making 3 meals 3 times per day. Sean is still a very fussy eater (at 10) so he still gets his own meals. The other two don't like the spicy foods we tend to eat, though Kyle loves curries, so they get toned down version too. One of the joys of motherhood... BUT having all that love from the littlies is priceless and makes up for a lot of the less than pleasant parts! Hope your busy day was as much fun as it sounded!
Diana - Hope Daniel's operation went well. What a shock to get that call!
Katy - What is Kerri's class like? I've been considering it. I've had my Sill for a few years now (got the original), use it a lot but I'm sure there are a lot of neat tricks I don't know about. I don't want to spend the money if she only shows how to do basics like cut fonts, welding, removing parts of a design, etc. Could I be forward and ask you to pmail me a breakdown of what she teaches? Pretty please?
Toni - That's great news about the interview. Is it the same team that does the interview every time? It must seem that the questions become repetative. If I can chime in about your friend's Mom - my Mom also started seeing people important to her who had already passed on. Hospice said it is very common and probaby her way of accepting the end is coming. It may be due to the meds that can cause hallucinations but it is not strange for the terminally ill to see important people from their lives. If her Mom isn't upset, she shouldn't worry.
The white does seem a little less 'bright white', more toned down. Yay! Squinting isn't fun. Though even a little more would help... |

Michelle, I didn't take the first of the three classes, I took the second. She teaches you how to make a lacy background and how to weld. There are other things that she teaches, and I really enjoyed the class. I learned an awful lot, and have gone back to re-watch certain lessons because they were so packed with info. I also signed up for the third set of lessons for the designer edition of the Silhouette program. |

cold and dreary here today too.
Owen (with Noah's help ) got his headgear snagged on his blanket and when trying to untangle himself managed to pull out the band that the headgear attaches to. The headgear is supposed to pop open to avoid that happening but well,,,,so have a call into the dentist to see if we can sneak him in to get it put back in. Dang it anyway, MICHELLE, see what you started?
Kids were up til 11 p.m. last night working on a SS project which they were supposed to be spreading across the week. Of course it ended up being more complexed than they expected and even with all Noah's effort to make it look nice he's still one short of an entry to get a B,,,I am so frustrated with him not reading the rubic for grading or not seeing how it relates to his grade. More likely he doesn't care. I know the reading is hard for him still. Owen did a much more thorough project (timelines of European Explorers who explored the Pacific Northwest) but was having trouble with his computer so it was slowing him down, We were up at 5 a.m. (Noah and I) and 6 a.m. for Owen, trying to wrap up and print their projects. I'm sure they were late to school also.
I want to run to the courthouse to pay my Property Taxes but need to find out from the dentist if they can squeeze us in so don't want to leave the house, so once again I'm temporarily housebound. Hope they call soon.
Button up your houses on the eastcoast, looks like the storms are acoming,,,,
take care,
debi

Hello all!
Monica B - A Sear Roebuck house is one that you could order from the catalog. You got all the supplies and the plan, but you had to build it or have it built yourself. There were many of these houses all over the country. Many still being lived in today.
Brr. It is cold here! It wasn't that long ago that I was all about how HOT it was. We are never quite satisfied are we.
Getting ready to spend time in the hospital with my dad next week. Pray everything goes smoothly.
Until later.... |

Might be an answer for the bright white! At least if you use Mozilla Firefox Colour that site is a website that lets you change the colors on websites. I've been playing with it and have changed my screen to grayish blue. Not thrilled with it yet but it is much better on the eye. When I posted the reply button it went back to the white though. |
