Welcome Week 5!

Glad that you all have made it this far, and sorry that I was a little missing in action this past week. Glad to get DH back from Afghanistan after 9 months, but now we are settling down and I am back!

Scraps are something that most of us have (hence the scrapbooking).

Some people dont keep anything under 3x5, or 6x6, some purge once a year, and some keep it all.

This is one area where your storage solution is probably uniquely you, but we would all love to hear about it! Theoretically, this is a quick storage & tidy up activity...allowing for creative time and to continue to figure out your paper! LOL! (Remember: This is not the memorobilia that you are looking for. Move along. . .)

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy)

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers)

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer)

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why?

Here is the original Wookiemouse blog post
Round 2: My first scrap organization

Gotta get some laundry started, then work on the blog post for this week. Promise it will be up by Tues morning!

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy) Yes! I got a layout and a card done. They are both on my blog.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers) Absolutely! I can find things much easier AND I make new combinations of papers that I wouldn't have seen before.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer) Yes, because I make a lot of cards and I use my Cameo for die cuts, so scraps get used a ton. In fact, the card I made last week used a scrap from ages ago! Here is the link on how I'm organizing them:My scrap organization

QOTW#4 :Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why? Hmmm...this is a hard question. I love red and white, probably because I did so much of it for DS and DD's high school sports albums. But other than that, I'm kind of all over the place with colors! LOL!

This is an easy challenge for me! A few years ago, I started buying all my paper (patterned and cardstock) to be used together at the same time and storing them together in accordion folders and/or 12x12 envelopes; so, if I have scraps, I keep them with their original "kits" until there is not enough "kit" left to make a page...then, I just throw them in a file folder, assuming they are large enough. I don't keep small scraps. Usually once every month or two I go thru and purge what hasn't been used.

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? yes, I did...quite a few layouts, actually. I will try to upload one or two when I do a blog post later in the week.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? I didn't make any big changes to my paper, so I guess I'd have to say "yes", since I must have been satisfied with it to begin with!

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? See above!

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why? My favorite color is green...I absolutely love the combo of lime green and bright blue (like this font).

QOTW#1- Yes! I created!
QOTW#2- Happy with paper... but it still needs work.
QOTW#3- Yes, I am a scrap hoarder. It is an issue, and then when they get ready to take over the room, we ralley the troops and take some of them to the trash and sacrifice the rest to DD.
QOTW#4- currently into the grungy look, but I tend to use green more than any other color in a layout. Dont know why (as it is not my favorite) but I just seem drawn to it. Blue is color #2.

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy) Yes, a few layouts and a few art journal pages.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers) Although I was happy with the paper storage, and happier with it than the embellishment storage, the idea of sitting down and figuring out which 10 I would get rid of was intriguing. So, finally this week, I tackled both paper and scraps. About 25 full sheets and some large scraps got pulled out of the paper storage and put in a paper bag for possible donation. A few days ago, I pulled one of the large scraps (along with some smaller ones I stored separately), and made a card.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer) I have each color in a page protector, and that was one other thing I did as an interim between getting my bookcase and seeing that we were starting a new round of this. I put the page protectors in a basket that I keep in the bookcase. That makes them easier to find than when I had them in a plastic crate, as the crate was deeper and some page protectors would fall to the bottom. This week, I put a few page protectors filled with multi-colored scraps in the donation bag, and pulled a very few small scraps out and trashed them,as also happened when a new layout created similarly small one-color scraps. Generally, I am using the scraps more than I am creating new ones these days.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why? My favorite color is purple, it just is. What that means in terms of scrapbooking, and maybe art journaling, is that if purple works on pages about me, purple goes on pages about me. Even so, not all pages about me have purple, it just depends on the pictures, theme or what pattern paper I end up choosing.

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy)

Yes, but not very big or very much. I made and decorated a pillow box cut from the CTMH Art Philosophy cart. I also made a bunch of Halloween tags that I attached to little fun gifts that I sent to my dd at college in her seasonal monthly "care package". So I did use some paper, several stamps that I had never used before, fiber and my Cricut.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers)

I didn't get to organize my paper, but it's not too horrible- only the new stuff (like from the last year or two) that I have not sorted yet.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer)

YES!!! I have a wonderful system (for me). I have an Iris cart with enough drawers for each color of the rainbow. I just slip scraps in by color- it takes almost no time. For when I really have no time I have a drawer for "unsorted" that I later put in by color. For collections and Stacks, I keep most of the scraps tucked in the pad or envelope.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why?

No, I like them all! It depends on my mood, occasion etc. If anything it seems that I like whatever the "seasonal" color is at that moment. So now it is autumn hues.

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy)
last week--try to work on layout but it wasn't coming together for me at all so i had to stop.

I'm making a congratuation baby card using from my scrap.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers)

I'm happy that all my papers are together and label. I know i may tweak it throughout the month but right now, I'm happy

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer)

I do keep all my scraps but do purge once a month that i don't want. I'm passing them down to my daughter for her little scrap area. I'm changing the way i organize them. I will blog about it later in week.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why?

Currently, brights--such as orange, yellow, and blue for boys not in that order but i have been mixing things up.

My fav color is green so i use green in some of layouts.

i updated my blog on paper and scraps--
Last night i was able to work on scraps pile and sort them into three piles--6x12 or larger, 8x8 to 6x6, 4x6 or small including smaller strips will be in this pile. small piles will be given to dd for her to scrap with me.

I'm halfway thur pile still have more to go. will report progress..

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? Nope. But I have to make a house warming card this week.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now?Yes. My system works pretty well. I've been trying to get rid of paper over the last few months. I've been giving it to my kids to do "art". I know I made the right decision when I see the paper with scribbles all over it and I don't care. Just need to sort through my scraps. I tend to keep really small pieces and I need to just toss them.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? Yes. You can see my scrap filesin my gallery. Just need to purge some and I'm good.

QOTW#4 :Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why? Aqua is one of my favorite colors right now and I love it with pink. Blue and Aqua are the colors that I have the most of. I really like purple but I have a hard time scrapping with it and I don't have a lot of purple papers, go figure. I use green a lot too.

QOTW #1: Did you create anything last week? A card that I made using some scraps.

QOTW#2: Are you happy/happier with your paper now? I didn't really change anything, so I am as happy now as I was before.

QOTW#3: Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? Yes, I keep scraps. I've bought two Sterilite containers. The smaller one holds any scraps that are 12 in. long and between 3-7 in wide. The larger one holds any other size scrap and is organized in folders by ROYGBIV color with extra folders for chipboard, vellum and clear plastic scraps. This shows my system.

QOTW#4: Favorite Color/color scheme? And why? My favorite color is green. I love its calming effects and there are so many shades of it to choose from. I don't really have a favorite color scheme. I try to use all kinds of colors in my crafting. I tend to use more earth tones. Not that I like them more, but they seem to be more versatile.

Glad hubby is back Amanda

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy)

I made a card for a bday party DS went to last weekend.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers)

I actually didn't touch my paper last week as after several tries, I'm really happy with how it's stored now.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer)

Absolutely!! You never know when something is going to be the *perfect* colour/pattern for something else. But I do have some standards Strips have to be at least 1 inch wide, square need to be at least 2x2.

I have 6 Sterlite drawers that store my scraps. Patterned paper, Black & White, Blue & Green, Yellow & Brown, Pink & Purple, and Red & Orange. When the drawers start getting too full, I'll pull out that colour and start making cards. (I have some examples in my gallery).

I also keep a basket beside my desk so I don't always have to put my scraps properly away. I like digging through this basket because I end up with colour combos that I don't always think of.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why?

I scrap mainly boys. I love green, orange and yellow. Somehow DS's clothes get chosen based on matching with this colour scheme.

I missed this thread earlier, so I will post on it now so I don't fall off the organizing wagon!!!

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy)

Yes!! I worked on 2 layouts for my Wedding album (other people's weddings, not mine!)

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers)

Yes, but I really didn't do much changing of it. My system works for me!

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer)

Yes, I keep scraps ... probably too many! I should go through it and get rid of really small pieces, but then I think that I could use them for a mosaic and keep them!!!

I organize them in large 13x13 accordian folders (I guess that's what they're called) that I got from Flower Factory. *SIGH* I miss that store!

I have 4 of them: 2 for solids (sorted by color) and 2 for patterns and other papers, like vellum, mostly sorted by theme or main color. Now that I have a lot of paper packs, I ususally keep the scraps with the packs, since they coordinate.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why?

Not sure if I have one! But I know that I don't really like bright colors .... like neon colors!

Well I was able to work in my scrap space this weekend.
Create:
I made a housewarming card, and added more embelishments to my dd's 1st bday mini (still not done though).

Organize:
Made a list of pictures that I need to print and a shopping list.
Put away all my scraps (even found a second pile that I forgot about!)
I can see my desk top now!

To do:
Need to go through my scraps and toss old and small pieces
Find a good spot for my 8.5x11 white cardstock
Lable storage drawers (see story below!)

Funny story- As I was working on the card I needed a specific adhesive. I was given some new storage drawers and have been moving things around. I could picture were I had my adhesives stored in the past but I could not remember where I moved them. This was before I had cleaned my desk so I still had piles of papers all over. I looked and looked getting more and more mad that I couldn't find them. Finally I found them in the bottom drawer of a plastic tower on the top of my desk, right in front of me! I realized that the piles of paper were covering the drawer which is why I never looked there! I also don't have lables on the drawers so even though they are kind of clear it is hard to tell what is in each one. Definitly need to label drawers!! Oh and I just looked over and I still have stuff in front of that drawer stack. I guess I never learn!

QOTW #1 : Did you create anything last week? (Remember, keep that Creative Me Happy) -- Yes, I did! No layouts or cards, but about 50 beautiful blue butterflies, layered, using the Cricut, and a bunch of locker magnets for students in the music and drama programs at ds's high school -- with a bunch of moms, again using the Cricut.

QOTW#2 : Are you happy / happier with your paper now? (It is ok to say no. This is not the SATs there is no wrong answers) -- Not yet! I'm not done purging, and I didn't get it done in time for the garage sale at my lss.

QOTW#3 : Do you keep scraps? And how do you organize them? (big messy pile is an acceptable beginning of the week answer) -- Yes, I keep nearly all scraps, since even the small ones I can use on cards. My scrap stash is also the place that dd knows she can go to for paper for her "projects." I have two plastic drawer units, three drawers each, and scraps are organized by color.

QOTW#4 : Favorite Color/ color scheme? And why? -- This is where I have to admit to being either moody or fickle... I don't think I have a favorite color scheme. It depends on what I'm scrapping, and what kind of mood I'm in. I do *love* Halloween papers, though, because I tend to love the orange, green, purple, black color combo.
