Someone posted this on Facebook today and I thought it was a great message for us scrapbookers, family photographers and moms.

What a great story and how true.

I'm always trying to avoid pictures because I didn't lose the baby weight (who am I kidding, my baby is 17 ) or I didn't have time to put on full make up or I don't look stylish, etc

We need to get in the pictures we are scrapbooking. Afterall, the story we are telling has us in it.

Don't cry because its because it happened

Probably because I'm a relatively new mom (7 month old son) who has not only not lost any baby weight, but has gained 8 more pounds, have found myself for the first time since I was 16 not wearing makeup or doing my hair, and I worry whether I'm a good mom every.single.second., this article made me cry. Thank you for posting it.

As a matter of fact, DH took a picture of me feeding the baby tonight and when I asked him if he was "taking a photo of me looking awful", he responded that 1) I looked lovely and 2) when we're old, I'm going to look back on the photo with nothing but great feelings about that moment with our son, not how I look. And he's right.

I'm going to try to get more photos with my son and not worry so much as to what I look like in them. Besides, people are probably looking at the adorable baby, not me.

WOW! My daughter got married about two weeks ago and once I got past how beautiful she looked and how handsome my son is ( he gave her away) I immediately focused in how fat I looked, how bad my hair looked, etc. My mother passed away 17 yrs ago and I can count on one hand how many photos we have of her. I'm changing my ways!

Thank you for sharing this-it is so true. I am so guilty of not printing pictures where I don't look my best. But yet my son loves to look and remember each memory.

That was awesome! Thanks for posting it!

This is one thing I make sure to do, because my dad was always behind the camera, not in the pictures. After he died, I went on a treasure hunt, and found a few photos of him that truly were a treasure! Especially since they were so rare. I didn't care that he was a bit portly, had gray hair and wrinkles, or that he looked tired. I was just excited to have pictures of my dad. It taught me a lesson. And now at some point during every family activity, I hand the camera to someone else, and I get in the picture.

Photographers are violent people. First they frame you, then they shoot you, then they hang you on the wall; but if you're real good, they will scrapbook you!

Did anyone notice the "she's 53 and looks 27..." ad right under the article? What were they thinking?

Good article. I'm always behind the camera, but now and then, I let someone take my photo.
